more_o laborious_a or_o more_o cross_v their_o corrupt_a nature_n in_o their_o credit_n profit_n or_o pleasure_n hence_o it_o be_v that_o many_o be_v so_o negligent_a and_o slight_a in_o read_v private_a prayer_n meditate_v instruct_v of_o their_o family_n sanctification_n of_o the_o sabbath_n so_o hardly_o bring_v to_o sobriety_n and_o and_o true_a liberality_n but_o of_o all_o how_o seldom_o can_v the_o most_o of_o we_o be_v bring_v to_o humble_v ourselves_o in_o fast_v and_o prayer_n though_o we_o have_v never_o so_o many_o and_o just_a cause_n to_o pull_v we_o often_o hereunto_o both_o for_o ourselves_o and_o other_o in_o public_a and_o private_a these_o and_o the_o like_v prove_v this_o rule_n to_o be_v most_o needful_a to_o get_v our_o heart_n more_o willing_a to_o every_o know_a duty_n the_o way_n whereby_o this_o be_v obtain_v be_v a_o often_o and_o advise_v consideration_n of_o the_o great_a gain_n which_o come_v by_o a_o conscionable_a discharge_n of_o these_o duty_n that_o belong_v unto_o we_o in_o bring_v glory_n to_o god_n profit_n to_o other_o and_o peace_n to_o their_o own_o soul_n all_o which_o be_v more_o common_o confess_v then_o sound_o enjoy_v of_o many_o true_a believer_n of_o this_o gain_n well_o speak_v the_o apostle_n 1._o tim._n 6._o 6._o saying_n godliness_n with_o contentment_n be_v great_a gain_n and_o chap._n 4._o
to_o god_n mâ—st_v attain_v this_o by_o faith_n without_o which_o as_o all_o we_o do_v be_v sin_n 6._o heb._n 11._o 6._o so_o the_o scripture_n speak_v plain_o without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n and_o yet_o how_o few_o be_v they_o who_o have_v attain_v this_o grace_n so_o to_o live_v by_o faith_n as_o thereby_o to_o draw_v from_o christ_n continual_a increase_n of_o spiritual_a strength_n better_o to_o perform_v all_o holy_a obedience_n and_o daily_o to_o get_v more_o comfort_n that_o this_o their_o obedience_n shall_v be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n accept_v two_o branch_n of_o this_o 1._o how_o to_o get_v grace_n 2._o how_o to_o be_v accept_v wherein_o we_o have_v these_o two_o special_a branch_n to_o be_v consider_v how_o we_o may_v get_v this_o grace_n to_o lead_v a_o godly_a life_n or_o how_o we_o may_v have_v comfort_n that_o this_o shall_v be_v accept_v for_o the_o former_a commandment_n some_o chief_a fail_n in_o every_o commandment_n that_o we_o may_v better_o see_v how_o unable_a we_o be_v of_o ourselves_o to_o perform_v all_o holy_a obedience_n and_o so_o be_v more_o willing_a to_o embrace_v the_o remedy_n i_o desire_v every_o one_o careful_o to_o examine_v himself_o by_o the_o law_n of_o god_n how_o exceed_o he_o fail_v in_o every_o one_o of_o they_o 1._o as_o for_o example_n in_o the_o first_o commandment_n in_o not_o walk_v his_o neighbour_n good_a as_o his_o own_o thus_o have_v i_o brief_o draw_v out_o of_o the_o commandment_n some_o of_o the_o chief_a duty_n which_o we_o can_v deny_v but_o that_o as_o we_o be_v bind_v to_o perform_v they_o and_o desire_v so_o to_o do_v so_o we_o fail_v much_o in_o the_o practice_n of_o they_o neither_o possible_o can_v we_o do_v better_o till_o we_o receive_v grace_n from_o herod_n 30._o 2_o king_n 10._o 30._o jehu_n 2._o 2_o chron._n 25._o 2._o amaziah_n who_o do_v that_o which_o be_v right_a in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o lord_n but_o not_o with_o a_o perfect_a heart_n but_o to_o be_v persuade_v upon_o good_a ground_n that_o god_n will_v accept_v our_o weak_a and_o sinful_a obedience_n for_o perfect_a as_o if_o it_o be_v without_o fault_n this_o require_v true_a grace_n yea_o a_o great_a measure_n than_o many_o a_o weak_a believer_n can_v attain_v from_o hence_o it_o special_o arise_v that_o sundry_a true_a heart_a christian_n infirmity_n many_o discourage_v by_o their_o infirmity_n very_o conscionable_a in_o their_o conversation_n be_v yet_o much_o discourage_v and_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o infirmity_n of_o their_o best_a duty_n have_v little_a comfort_n in_o any_o thing_n they_o do_v and_o so_o loose_a if_o not_o all_o yet_o much_o fruit_n of_o great_a labour_n so_o that_o it_o can_v be_v but_o welcome_a instruction_n to_o they_o to_o hear_v and_o learn_v how_o they_o may_v be_v assure_v that_o their_o weak_a obedience_n shall_v be_v please_v to_o god_n as_o if_o it_o be_v without_o fault_n in_o both_o which_o i_o will_v do_v my_o best_a to_o draw_v out_o of_o the_o well_n of_o salvation_n the_o holy_a scripture_n such_o sweet_a promise_n as_o shall_v abundant_o satisfy_v the_o thirsty_a soul_n who_o chief_a desire_n be_v nothing_o more_o than_o to_o have_v grace_n whereby_o they_o may_v serve_v god_n acceptable_o with_o reverence_n and_o godly_a fear_n 28._o heb._n 12._o 28._o and_o first_o to_o begin_v with_o the_o former_a grace_n how_o we_o may_v be_v sure_a we_o shall_v want_v no_o grace_n that_o we_o may_v assure_v ourselves_o we_o shall_v not_o want_v any_o needful_a grace_n for_o the_o lead_n of_o a_o god_n in_o this_o life_n and_o to_o be_v glorify_v of_o he_o in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v the_o least_o of_o all_o which_o fruit_n of_o affliction_n affliction_n use_v of_o all_o these_o benefit_n by_o affliction_n though_o it_o go_v alone_o if_o the_o profit_n and_o comfort_v it_o bring_v may_v be_v well_o prise_v will_v move_v any_o good_a heart_n if_o lawful_o they_o may_v to_o desire_v affliction_n at_o least_o to_o be_v glad_a of_o they_o when_o the_o lord_n our_o love_a father_n and_o wise_a physician_n do_v send_v they_o to_o we_o how_o much_o more_o than_o when_o as_o all_o these_o shall_v be_v join_v together_o shall_v we_o rejoice_v and_o bless_v god_n for_o they_o there_o be_v no_o good_a christian_n but_o he_o great_o desire_v to_o be_v more_o humble_v in_o the_o corruption_n which_o take_v away_o his_o stomach_n and_o strength_n that_o he_o can_v neither_o feed_v nor_o work_v as_o his_o place_n require_v and_o above_o all_o do_v he_o covet_v spiritual_a grace_n that_o he_o may_v shine_v out_o in_o a_o godly_a life_n to_o the_o honour_n of_o his_o profession_n the_o win_n of_o oother_n and_o make_v sure_a his_o call_n and_o election_n all_o which_o see_v they_o be_v procure_v by_o afflictious_a and_o hardly_o or_o never_o without_o they_o as_o that_o place_n 1_o pet._n 4._o 18._o prove_v and_o if_o the_o righteous_a be_v scarce_o save_v and_o this_o be_v the_o chief_a cause_n why_o none_o of_o god_n child_n be_v without_o they_o as_o heb._n 12._o 6._o 7._o 8._o i_o think_v there_o be_v great_a reason_n why_o we_o shall_v be_v thankful_a help_v we_o at_o least_o as_o we_o will_v both_o which_o be_v so_o often_o to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o life_n of_o god_n faithful_a servant_n in_o all_o age_n as_o need_v no_o further_a proof_n the_o lord_n i_o say_v well_o acquaint_v with_o this_o frailty_n of_o his_o child_n have_v most_o plentiful_o provide_v all_o sufficient_a help_n to_o support_v they_o and_o therefore_o make_v so_o many_o promise_n to_o be_v with_o they_o in_o all_o their_o trouble_n and_o succour_v they_o in_o all_o extremity_n that_o they_o shall_v never_o perish_v but_o in_o the_o end_n find_v a_o good_a end_n and_o issue_n out_o of_o they_o to_o his_o glory_n and_o their_o endless_a comfort_n have_v peruse_v these_o promise_n and_o gather_v they_o out_o of_o the_o scripture_n i_o may_v bold_o say_v they_o do_v far_o exceed_v in_o number_n all_o the_o former_a so_o that_o it_o will_v be_v too_o tedious_a to_o set_v they_o down_o all_o i_o will_v therefore_o make_v choice_n of_o some_o of_o the_o chief_a
