of_o other_o and_o we_o leave_v it_o to_o the_o world_n to_o judge_v whether_o we_o herein_o have_v deserve_v so_o heavy_a a_o tax_n and_o exclamation_n that_o it_o be_v a_o strange_a world_n when_o prince_n proffer_a favour_n be_v count_v reproach_n such_o be_v the_o word_n of_o his_o majesty_n answer_n who_o do_v esteem_v that_o offer_n as_o a_o act_n of_o princely_a grace_n and_o bounty_n which_o since_o this_o parliament_n begin_v we_o have_v humble_o desire_v we_o may_v obtain_v and_o do_v still_o hold_v it_o very_o necessary_a and_o advantageous_a for_o the_o generality_n of_o the_o subject_a upon_o who_o these_o tax_n and_o subsidy_n lie_v heavy_a but_o we_o see_v upon_o every_o occasion_n how_o unhappy_a we_o be_v in_o his_o majesty_n misapprehension_n of_o our_o word_n and_o action_n we_o be_v full_o of_o the_o king_n mind_n as_o it_o be_v here_o declare_v that_o he_o may_v rest_v so_o secure_a of_o the_o affection_n of_o his_o subject_n that_o he_o shall_v not_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o foreign_a force_n to_o preserve_v he_o from_o oppression_n and_o be_v confident_a that_o he_o shall_v never_o want_v a_o abundant_a evidence_n of_o the_o good_a wish_n and_o assistance_n of_o his_o whole_a kingdom_n especial_o if_o he_o shall_v be_v please_v to_o hold_v to_o that_o gracious_a resolution_n of_o building_n upon_o that_o sure_a foundation_n the_o law_n of_o the_o land_n but_o why_o his_o majesty_n shall_v take_v it_o ill_o that_o we_o have_v receive_v information_n so_o deep_o concerning_o the_o safety_n of_o the_o kingdom_n and_o shall_v think_v they_o fit_a to_o be_v consider_v of_o we_o can_v conceive_v for_o although_o the_o name_n of_o the_o person_n be_v unknown_a yet_o that_o which_o be_v more_o substantial_a to_o the_o probability_n of_o the_o report_n be_v know_v that_o be_v that_o he_o be_v servant_n to_o the_o lord_n digby_n who_o in_o his_o presumptuous_a letter_n to_o the_o queen_n majesty_n and_o other_o letter_n to_o sir_n lewis_n dives_fw-la have_v intimate_v some_o wicked_a proposition_n suitable_a to_o that_o information_n but_o that_o this_o shall_v require_v reparation_n we_o hold_v it_o as_o far_o from_o justice_n as_o it_o be_v from_o truth_n that_o we_o have_v mix_v any_o malice_n with_o these_o rumour_n thereby_o to_o feed_v the_o fear_n and_o jealousy_n of_o the_o people_n it_o be_v affirm_v his_o majesty_n be_v drive_v but_o not_o by_o we_o yet_o from_o we_o perchance_o hereafter_o if_o there_o be_v opportunity_n of_o gain_v more_o credit_n there_o will_v not_o be_v want_v who_o will_v suggest_v unto_o his_o majesty_n that_o it_o be_v do_v by_o we_o and_o if_o his_o majesty_n be_v drive_v from_o we_o we_o hope_v it_o be_v not_o by_o his_o own_o fear_n but_o by_o the_o fear_n of_o the_o lord_n digbie_n and_o his_o retinue_n of_o cavalier_n and_o that_o no_o fear_n of_o any_o tumultuary_a violence_n but_o of_o their_o just_a punishment_n for_o their_o manifold_a insolence_n and_o intend_a violence_n against_o the_o parliament_n and_o this_o be_v express_v by_o the_o lord_n digby_n himself_o when_o he_o tell_v those_o cavalier_n that_o the_o principal_a cause_n of_o his_o majesty_n go_v out_o of_o town_n be_v to_o save_v they_o from_o be_v trample_v in_o the_o dirt_n but_o of_o his_o majesty_n person_n there_o be_v no_o cause_n of_o fear_n in_o the_o great_a heat_n of_o the_o people_n indignation_n after_o the_o accusation_n and_o his_o majesty_n violent_a come_n to_o the_o house_n there_o be_v no_o show_n of_o any_o evil_a intention_n against_o his_o regal_a person_n of_o which_o there_o can_v be_v no_o better_a evidence_n than_o this_o that_o he_o come_v the_o next_o day_n without_o a_o guard_n into_o the_o city_n where_o he_o hear_v nothing_o but_o prayer_n and_o petition_n no_o threaten_n or_o irreverent_a speech_n that_o may_v give_v he_o any_o just_a occasion_n of_o fear_n that_o we_o have_v hear_v of_o or_o that_o his_o majesty_n express_v for_o he_o stay_v near_o a_o week_n after_o at_o white_a hall_n in_o a_o secure_a and_o peaceable_a condition_n whereby_o we_o be_v induce_v to_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v no_o difficulty_n nor_o doubt_n at_o all_o but_o his_o majesty_n residence_n near_o london_n may_v be_v as_o safe_a as_o in_o any_o part_n of_o the_o kingdom_n we_o be_v most_o assure_v of_o the_o faithfulness_n of_o the_o city_n and_o suburb_n and_o for_o ourselves_o we_o shall_v quicken_v the_o vigour_n of_o the_o law_n the_o industry_n of_o the_o magistrate_n the_o authority_n of_o parliament_n for_o the_o suppress_n of_o all_o tumultuary_a insolence_n whatsoever_o and_o for_o the_o vindicate_n of_o his_o honour_n from_o all_o insupportable_a and_o insolent_a scandal_n if_o any_o such_o shall_v be_v find_v to_o be_v raise_v upon_o he_o as_o be_v mention_v in_o this_o answer_n and_o therefore_o we_o think_v it_o altogether_o unnecessary_a and_o exceed_a inconvenient_a to_o adjourn_v the_o parliament_n to_o any_o other_o place_n where_o the_o desire_n of_o a_o good_a understanding_n betwixt_o the_o king_n and_o the_o parliament_n be_v on_o both_o part_n so_o earnest_a as_o be_v here_o profess_v of_o his_o majesty_n to_o be_v in_o he_o and_o we_o have_v sufficient_o testify_v to_o be_v in_o ourselves_o it_o seem_v strange_a we_o shall_v be_v so_o long_o asunder_o it_o can_v be_v nothing_o else_o but_o evil_a and_o malicious_a council_n misrepresent_v our_o carriage_n to_o he_o and_o in_o dispose_v his_o favour_n to_o we_o and_o as_o it_o shall_v be_v far_o from_o we_o to_o take_v any_o advantage_n of_o his_o majesty_n suppose_a strait_n as_o to_o desire_v much_o less_o to_o compel_v he_o to_o that_o which_o his_o honour_n or_o interest_n may_v render_v unpleasant_a and_o grievous_a to_o he_o so_o we_o hope_v that_o his_o majesty_n will_v not_o make_v his_o own_o understanding_n or_o reason_n the_o rule_n of_o his_o government_n but_o will_v suffer_v himself_o to_o be_v assist_v with_o a_o wise_a and_o prudent_a council_n that_o may_v deal_v faithful_o betwixt_o he_o and_o his_o people_n and_o that_o he_o will_v remember_v that_o his_o resolution_n do_v concern_v kingdom_n and_o therefore_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v mould_v by_o his_o own_o much_o less_o by_o any_o other_o private_a person_n which_o be_v not_o alike_o proportionable_a to_o so_o great_a a_o trust_n and_o therefore_o we_o still_o desire_v and_o hope_n that_o his_o majesty_n will_v not_o be_v guide_v by_o his_o own_o understanding_n or_o to_o think_v those_o course_n straits_n and_o necessity_n to_o which_o he_o shall_v be_v advise_v by_o the_o wisdom_n of_o both_o house_n of_o parliament_n which_o be_v the_o eye_n in_o this_o politic_a body_n whereby_o his_o majesty_n be_v by_o the_o constitution_n of_o this_o kingdom_n to_o discern_v the_o difference_n of_o those_o thing_n which_o concern_v the_o public_a peace_n and_o safety_n thereof_o we_o have_v give_v his_o majesty_n no_o cause_n to_o say_v that_o we_o do_v mean_o value_v the_o discharge_n of_o his_o public_a duty_n whatsoever_o act_v of_o grace_n or_o justice_n have_v be_v do_v they_o proceed_v from_o his_o majesty_n by_o the_o advice_n and_o council_n of_o his_o parliament_n yet_o we_o have_v and_o shall_v always_o answer_v they_o with_o constant_a gratitude_n obedience_n and_o affection_n and_o although_o many_o thing_n have_v be_v do_v since_o this_o parliament_n of_o another_o nature_n yet_o we_o shall_v not_o cease_v to_o desire_v the_o continue_a protection_n of_o almighty_a god_n upon_o his_o majesty_n and_o most_o humble_o petition_v he_o to_o cast_v from_o he_o all_o those_o evil_a and_o contrary_a counsel_n which_o have_v in_o many_o particular_n former_o mention_v much_o detract_v from_o the_o honour_n of_o his_o government_n the_o happiness_n of_o his_o own_o estate_n and_o prosperity_n of_o his_o people_n and_o have_v past_a so_o many_o danger_n from_o abroad_o so_o many_o conspiracy_n at_o home_n and_o bring_v on_o the_o public_a work_n so_o far_o through_o the_o great_a difficulty_n that_o ever_o stand_v in_o opposition_n to_o a_o parliament_n to_o such_o a_o degree_n of_o success_n that_o nothing_o seem_v to_o be_v leave_v in_o our_o way_n able_a to_o hinder_v the_o full_a accomplishment_n of_o our_o desire_n and_o endeavour_n for_o the_o public_a good_a unless_o god_n in_o his_o justice_n do_v send_v such_o a_o grievous_a curse_n upon_o we_o as_o to_o turn_v the_o strength_n of_o the_o kingdom_n against_o itself_o and_o to_o effect_v that_o by_o their_o own_o folly_n and_o credulity_n which_o the_o power_n and_o subtlety_n of_o their_o and_o our_o enemy_n can_v not_o attain_v that_o be_v to_o divide_v the_o people_n
