of_o the_o wicked_a infinite_a and_o universal_a now_o in_o this_o life_n all_o the_o misery_n &_o pain_n which_o fall_n upon_o man_n be_v but_o particular_a and_o not_o universal_a as_o for_o example_n we_o see_v one_o man_n pain_v in_o his_o eye_n another_o in_o his_o back_n which_o particular_a pain_n notwithstanding_o sometime_o be_v so_o extreme_a as_o life_n be_v not_o able_a to_o resist_v they_o and_o a_o man_n will_v not_o suffer_v they_o long_o for_o the_o gain_n of_o many_o world_n together_o but_o suppose_v now_o a_o man_n be_v torment_v in_o all_o the_o part_n of_o his_o body_n at_o once_o as_o in_o his_o head_n his_o eye_n his_o tongue_n his_o tooth_n his_o throat_n his_o stomach_n his_o belly_n his_o back_n his_o hart_n his_o side_n his_o thigh_n and_o in_o all_o the_o joint_n of_o his_o body_n beside_o suppose_v i_o say_v he_o be_v most_o cruel_o torment_v with_o extreme_a pain_n in_o all_o these_o part_n together_o without_o ease_n or_o intermission_n what_o thing_n can_v be_v more_o miserable_a than_o this_o what_o sight_n more_o lamentable_a if_o thou_o shall_v see_v a_o dogly_a in_o the_o street_n so_o afflict_v i_o know_v thou_o can_v not_o but_o take_v compassion_n upon_o he_o well_o then_o consider_v what_o difference_n there_o be_v between_o abide_v these_o pain_n for_o a_o week_n or_o for_o all_o eternity_n in_o suffer_v they_o upon_o a_o soft_a bed_n or_o upon_o a_o burn_a grediron_n and_o boil_a furnace_n among_o a_o man_n friend_n comfort_v he_o or_o among_o the_o fury_n of_o hell_n whip_v and_o torment_v he_o consider_v this_o i_o then_o what_o a_o fire_n this_o be_v which_o have_v such_o extreme_a effect_n both_o of_o heat_n and_o cold_a o_o mighty_a lord_n what_o a_o strange_a god_n be_v thou_o how_o wonderful_a and_o terrible_a in_o all_o thy_o work_n and_o invention_n how_o bountiful_a be_v thou_o to_o those_o
but_o now_o say_v this_o good_a man_n this_o word_n never_o break_v his_o hart_n when_o he_o think_v on_o it_o and_o that_o after_o a_o hundred_o thousand_o million_o of_o world_n there_o suffer_v he_o have_v as_o far_o to_o his_o end_n as_o he_o have_v at_o the_o first_o day_n of_o his_o entrance_n to_o these_o torment_n consider_v good_a christian_n what_o a_o length_n one_o hour_n will_v that_o comfortable_a doctrine_n of_o god_n most_o gracious_a providence_n towards_o we_o god_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o our_o duty_n likewise_o we_o do_v not_o perceive_v but_o that_o we_o together_o one_o do_v cast_v his_o eye_n to_o another_o every_o nation_n unto_o the_o people_n that_o do_v dwell_v about_o they_o and_o make_v the_o do_n of_o other_o a_o rule_n for_o they_o to_o service_n of_o god_n as_o be_v offensive_a to_o he_o or_o else_o no_o more_o but_o teach_v they_o in_o like_a sort_n to_o venture_v in_o so_o weighty_a a_o matter_n how_o shall_v we_o be_v able_a to_o excuse_v ourselves_o but_o that_o we_o have_v give_v they_o just_a cause_n of_o offence_n in_o lay_v such_o a_o stumble_a stone_n in_o the_o way_n that_o we_o see_v they_o be_v dispose_v to_o walk_v and_o though_o by_o the_o grace_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n they_o will_v be_v more_o wary_a and_o not_o stumble_v thereat_o yet_o be_v our_o fault_n nothing_o the_o less_o &_o for_o to_o be_v aesteem_v no_o less_o than_o murder_n before_o he_o as_o christ_n himself_o we_o know_v pronounce_v a_o heavy_a sentence_n against_o all_o those_o byw_v hom_n there_o come_v offence_n to_o any_o that_o it_o be_v much_o better_o for_o he_o that_o a_o millstone_n be_v hang_v about_o his_o nek_n &_o he_o cast_v into_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o sea_n than_o to_o offend_v the_o lest_o of_o they_o all_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o those_o heavy_a burden_n that_o i_o speak_v of_o man_n which_o they_o lie_v on_o the_o conscience_n of_o many_o be_v of_o two_o sort_n some_o that_o appertain_v general_o to_o all_o tradition_n and_o other_o that_o appertain_v proper_o to_o some_o those_o that_o appertain_v general_o to_o all_o be_v first_o those_o heap_n of_o tradition_n and_o ceremony_n which_o they_o have_v abundant_o lay_v upon_o all_o man_n call_v they_o the_o tradition_n of_o the_o church_n and_o teach_v that_o all_o be_v bind_v of_o conscience_n inviolable_o to_o keep_v and_o observe_v they_o every_o one_o of_o which_o sort_n though_o some_o be_v sort_v unto_o certain_a principal_a feast_n and_o time_n of_o the_o year_n yet_o other_o there_o be_v that_o so_o common_o haunt_v every_o week_n and_o almost_o every_o day_n and_o be_v so_o plentiful_o pour_v out_o throughout_o our_o whole_a life_n almost_o in_o all_o thing_n that_o we_o be_v to_o take_v in_o hand_n that_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a for_o any_o to_o walk_v upright_o therein_o nor_o ever_o sufficient_o to_o attend_v the_o great_a thing_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n confession_n then_o also_o it_o be_v a_o heavy_a burden_n that_o all_o man_n be_v bind_v so_o to_o confess_v as_o they_o require_v both_o for_o that_o they_o must_v disclose_v unto_o they_o the_o very_a secret_n of_o their_o heart_n and_o be_v bind_v to_o reckon_v up_o all_o their_o sin_n so_o far_o as_o possible_o they_o can_v remember_v else_o that_o they_o be_v exclude_v from_o all_o hope_n of_o forgiveness_n whereof_o the_o have_v confess_v their_o sin_n unto_o they_o which_o common_o they_o call_v penance_n penance_n and_o ever_o light_o have_v one_o of_o these_o fault_n either_o that_o the_o penance_n itself_o be_v wrong_v be_v for_o the_o most_o part_n either_o rigorous_a or_o frivolous_a or_o else_o that_o the_o party_n be_v teach_v to_o seek_v out_o forgiveness_n therein_o of_o that_o which_o be_v cast_v upon_o other_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o trade_n of_o life_n that_o they_o be_v enter_v into_o i_o note_v these_o two_o principal_a branch_n observant_n first_o those_o observance_n that_o they_o bind_v their_o regular_o to_o then_o the_o vow_n of_o single_a life_n whereunto_o they_o bind_v their_o whole_a clergy_n and_o certain_a other_o near_o to_o that_o order_n the_o former_a of_o which_o omit_v to_o speak_v of_o the_o worst_a of_o it_o yield_v nought_o else_o but_o a_o fruitless_a labour_n such_o as_o god_n never_o accept_v for_o any_o part_n of_o his_o service_n at_o all_o and_o yet_o oft_o time_n very_o tedious_a and_o painful_a in_o itself_o if_o they_o follow_v their_o rule_n indeed_o and_o coast_n not_o over_o some_o near_a way_n the_o other_o be_v full_a of_o fowl_n pollution_n without_o and_o intolerable_a burn_n within_o such_o as_o all_o force_a virginity_n have_v ever_o yield_v 3_o but_o in_o matter_n of_o religion_n it_o may_v be_v the_o controversy_n seem_v so_o dowtful_a estate_n that_o we_o can_v charge_v they_o with_o any_o such_o inconvenience_n on_o their_o side_n but_o that_o in_o their_o judgement_n they_o think_v themselves_o able_a to_o turn_v it_o over_o to_o we_o again_o as_o easy_o as_o we_o do_v lay_v it_o to_o their_o charge_n before_o and_o we_o also_o will_v be_v content_a to_o set_v by_o religion_n for_o a_o season_n and_o all_o matter_n of_o faith_n whatsoever_o as_o if_o in_o that_o respect_n there_o be_v no_o inconvenience_n at_o all_o to_o be_v fear_v and_o now_o consider_v those_o thing_n alone_o that_o do_v concern_v our_o civil_a estate_n herein_o this_o life_n not_o persuade_v ourselves_o to_o the_o contrary_a but_o that_o divers_a there_o be_v that_o will_v be_v content_a to_o join_v with_o they_o in_o matter_n of_o religion_n if_o thereby_o they_o shall_v bring_v to_o themselves_o no_o inconvenience_n in_o this_o for_o divers_a indeed_o do_v not_o so_o much_o respect_n religion_n or_o look_v not_o so_o narrow_o to_o the_o diversity_n of_o these_o profession_n but_o that_o they_o can_v be_v reasonable_o
