good_a sort_n bear_v bear_v so_o shall_v our_o sorrow_n be_v the_o more_o easy_o bear_v when_o as_o it_o shall_v be_v with_o we_o as_o it_o be_v with_o they_o that_o build_v the_o second_o temple_n at_o jerusalem_n where_o some_o weep_v and_o some_o rejoice_v and_o so_o among_o the_o people_n there_o be_v joy_n and_o sorrow_n mingle_v together_o many_o of_o the_o priest_n and_o of_o the_o rejoice_v so_o it_o may_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o sorrow_n there_o may_v be_v some_o joy_n and_o our_o joy_n may_v be_v as_o great_a as_o our_o grief_n and_o so_o much_o the_o great_a by_o how_o much_o the_o cause_n of_o the_o one_o be_v great_a than_o the_o other_o and_o thus_o when_o we_o begin_v to_o be_v sorrowful_a we_o may_v also_o begin_v to_o rejoice_v for_o it_o be_v say_v in_o a_o song_n of_o one_o of_o the_o confessor_n of_o the_o church_n who_o desire_v to_o have_v be_v a_o martyr_n some_o man_n for_o sudden_a joy_n do_v weep_v and_o some_o in_o sorrow_n sing_v etc._n etc._n betwixt_o they_o both_o say_v he_o will_v i_o begin_v etc._n etc._n meaning_n that_o he_o will_v so_o sorrow_n for_o his_o sin_n that_o he_o will_v rejoice_v in_o christ_n in_o who_o he_o see_v more_o cause_n to_o rejoice_v than_o he_o can_v see_v of_o sorrow_n in_o himself_o and_o so_o he_o will_v begin_v between_o both_o and_o that_o do_v make_v a_o very_a good_a mean_a so_o must_v we_o do_v think_v as_o well_o what_o cause_n we_o have_v of_o joy_n as_o we_o do_v of_o our_o sorrow_n &_o so_o neither_o rejoice_v without_o sorrow_n when_o there_o be_v cause_n nor_o sorrow_n without_o joy_n when_o there_o be_v cause_n of_o both_o but_o as_o he_o say_v begin_v between_o both_o and_o let_v we_o be_v willing_a to_o do_v thus_o the_o rather_o because_o few_o have_v any_o care_n at_o all_o to_o do_v it_o as_o they_o ought_v whereby_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o they_o lose_v the_o fruit_n and_o comfort_n of_o these_o benefit_n benefit_n few_o do_v true_o rejoice_v in_o god_n benefit_n and_o though_o they_o have_v they_o yet_o they_o be_v not_o so_o comfortable_a unto_o they_o as_o they_o may_v be_v for_o these_o thing_n that_o we_o have_v speak_v of_o namely_o the_o common_a benefit_n of_o peace_n and_o good_a government_n and_o the_o gospel_n be_v common_a to_o all_o in_o our_o time_n as_o well_o as_o to_o ourselves_o but_o how_o few_o do_v true_o rejoice_v before_o the_o lord_n in_o they_o or_o in_o the_o cause_n of_o their_o joy_n do_v at_o any_o time_n think_v or_o consider_v of_o they_o or_o when_o they_o will_v make_v themselves_o merry_a do_v enter_v into_o the_o serious_a consideration_n of_o these_o cause_n of_o joy_n but_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o it_o sure_o they_o neither_o have_v pray_v unto_o god_n for_o they_o as_o this_o people_n do_v here_o for_o this_o that_o they_o speak_v of_o neither_o have_v they_o esteem_v of_o they_o as_o of_o great_a befit_v as_o they_o do_v of_o this_o that_o they_o pray_v for_o and_o so_o they_o can_v rejoice_v in_o they_o as_o they_o shall_v and_o by_o that_o mean_n also_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o they_o can_v be_v so_o thankful_a to_o god_n for_o they_o as_o they_o ought_v and_o as_o other_o be_v for_o these_o two_o go_v together_o and_o can_v be_v sever_v to_o rejoice_v in_o god_n benefit_n and_o to_o be_v thankful_a for_o they_o so_o that_o the_o more_o we_o rejoice_v the_o more_o thankful_a shall_v we_o be_v and_o the_o want_n of_o joy_n in_o god_n benefit_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o unthankfulness_n for_o they_o as_o we_o see_v here_o also_o that_o in_o this_o verse_n they_o be_v join_v together_o when_o they_o say_v that_o we_o may_v rejoice_v in_o thy_o salvation_n and_o set_v up_o our_o banner_n in_o the_o name_n of_o our_o god_n as_o we_o as_o here_o david_n do_v to_o the_o people_n give_v they_o to_o understand_v that_o he_o shall_v or_o may_v be_v in_o great_a danger_n of_o his_o enemy_n and_o so_o it_o be_v a_o time_n of_o trouble_n unto_o he_o as_o he_o call_v it_o and_o as_o the_o apostle_n s_o james_n speak_v acknowledge_v your_o fault_n one_o to_o another_o and_o pray_v one_o for_o another_o 5.16_o jam._n 5.16_o other_o thing_n and_o shall_v come_v and_o make_v their_o moan_n unto_o we_o and_o desire_v relief_n from_o we_o if_o we_o see_v their_o estate_n to_o be_v so_o pitiful_a as_o indeed_o it_o be_v shall_v not_o be_v move_v in_o compassion_n to_o help_v they_o according_a to_o our_o ability_n it_o be_v a_o token_n of_o great_a hardness_n of_o heart_n in_o we_o so_o much_o more_o when_o any_o shall_v make_v know_v their_o want_n unto_o we_o to_o that_o end_n that_o we_o may_v pray_v to_o god_n for_o they_o if_o we_o shall_v forget_v it_o or_o neglect_v to_o do_v it_o it_o shall_v bewray_v word_n it_o be_v a_o great_a deceit_n in_o we_o to_o fail_v they_o and_o so_o to_o frustrate_v their_o expectation_n keep_v for_o all_o lawful_a promise_n must_v be_v keep_v so_o when_o any_o have_v desire_v we_o to_o speak_v to_o god_n for_o they_o and_o upon_o our_o promise_n they_o will_v comfort_v themselves_o over_o it_o if_o we_o shall_v by_o negligence_n deceive_v they_o it_o be_v a_o great_a fault_n in_o we_o and_o that_o which_o the_o lord_n will_v require_v at_o our_o hand_n though_o they_o shall_v never_o know_v of_o it_o therefore_o as_o we_o ought_v dâ—â—y_v to_o pray_v one_o forget_v their_o child_n in_o their_o prayer_n which_o daily_o ask_v their_o blessing_n and_o hope_v to_o be_v bless_v of_o god_n by_o their_o prayer_n secondary_o if_o we_o shall_v neglect_v to_o pray_v for_o they_o that_o have_v desire_v it_o at_o our_o hand_n us._n else_o they_o that_o we_o trust_v unto_o shall_v neglect_v to_o pray_v for_o us._n how_o can_v we_o have_v any_o hope_n that_o other_o who_o we_o have_v desire_v to_o pray_v for_o we_o shall_v perform_v that_o duty_n unto_o we_o nay_o may_v not_o we_o just_o fear_v that_o they_o will_v altogether_o neglect_v it_o see_v we_o service_n man_n use_v great_a diligence_n about_o their_o own_o business_n than_o about_o god_n service_n yea_o about_o other_o man_n business_n that_o all_o may_v be_v well_o do_v than_o about_o god_n in_o the_o six_o day_n of_o the_o week_n how_o busy_a be_v man_n at_o home_n but_o upon_o the_o seven_o day_n which_o be_v the_o lord_n and_o so_o call_v in_o the_o scripture_n how_o slow_o do_v they_o come_v &_o how_o sleepe_o do_v they_o behave_v themselves_o here_o as_o though_o it_o make_v no_o matter_n at_o all_o how_o they_o serve_v god_n yea_o servant_n be_v common_o more_o diligent_a about_o their_o master_n business_n at_o home_n more_o careful_a to_o please_v and_o more_o loath_a to_o offend_v than_o they_o be_v in_o the_o church_n about_o the_o lord_n business_n and_o so_o they_o show_v by_o their_o deed_n that_o though_o it_o be_v a_o hard_a thing_n to_o please_v their_o master_n yet_o as_o they_o think_v it_o be_v a_o easy_a thing_n to_o please_v god_n why_o do_v david_n then_o desire_v they_o so_o earnest_o to_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v favourable_o accept_v his_o service_n and_o to_o enforce_v they_o unto_o it_o do_v add_v this_o word_n selah_n if_o it_o be_v so_o easy_a a_o matter_n to_o serve_v god_n as_o they_o imagine_v and_o that_o he_o be_v bind_v to_o take_v any_o thing_n at_o our_o hand_n we_o see_v then_o by_o this_o that_o few_o man_n in_o deed_n know_v right_o what_o it_o be_v to_o serve_v god_n when_o they_o come_v to_o it_o so_o hypocritical_o and_o so_o cold_o but_o every_o one_o as_o they_o be_v desirous_a to_o serve_v god_n in_o truth_n as_o david_n be_v here_o so_o they_o find_v it_o to_o be_v more_o hard_a to_o do_v any_o thing_n in_o such_o manner_n 2.37_o but_o the_o best_a servant_n of_o god_n have_v think_v so_o high_o of_o his_o service_n that_o when_o they_o have_v do_v the_o best_a they_o have_v find_v fault_n with_o themselves_o that_o they_o have_v do_v no_o better_o act._n 2.37_o as_o may_v be_v acceptable_a oppression_n so_o be_v it_o in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o jew_n captivity_n when_o haman_n for_o malice_n that_o he_o bear_v unto_o mordecay_n seek_v his_o destruction_n and_o because_o his_o malice_n to_o be_v invite_v with_o the_o king_n unto_o a_o banquet_n which_o the_o queen_n have_v prepare_v and_o none_o but_o he_o be_v invite_v that_o he_o will_v make_v a_o gibbet_n of_o fifty_o cubit_n so_o and_o true_o if_o all_o man_n in_o all_o controversy_n which_o they_o have_v with_o their_o adversary_n will_v first_o take_v good_a counsel_n according_a to_o god_n word_n and_o then_o acknowledge_v that_o the_o success_n of_o it_o be_v in_o god_n hand_n and_o pray_v earnest_o unto_o he_o for_o it_o they_o may_v prosper_v more_o in_o their_o suit_n at_o the_o law_n than_o they_o do_v but_o because_o they_o neglect_v this_o and_o for_o the_o most_o part_n seek_v for_o crafty_a counsel_n such_o as_o have_v no_o promise_n of_o god_n blessing_n because_o it_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o law_n of_o charity_n and_o then_o in_o such_o case_n they_o neither_o do_v nor_o can_v pray_v to_o god_n for_o his_o blessing_n upon_o it_o that_o he_o will_v fulfil_v all_o their_o counsel_n therefore_o it_o be_v not_o so_o and_o thus_o we_o see_v why_o some_o be_v overthrow_v in_o their_o good_a cause_n namely_o they_o seek_v not_o to_o god_n that_o he_o will_v fulfil_v all_o their_o counsel_n but_o think_v themselves_o sufficient_a without_o his_o blessing_n and_o so_o god_n leave_v they_o to_o themselves_o that_o by_o experience_n they_o may_v see_v it_o to_o be_v otherwise_o therefore_o let_v we_o profit_v unto_o our_o duty_n by_o other_o man_n harm_n furthermore_o whereas_o david_n be_v a_o king_n and_o now_o go_v out_o to_o war_n and_o will_v the_o people_n at_o home_n to_o pray_v to_o god_n for_o he_o that_o he_o will_v fulfil_v all_o his_o purpose_n and_o counsel_n we_o must_v understand_v thus_o much_o that_o as_o he_o be_v wise_n himself_o so_o he_o have_v his_o counsel_n both_o for_o war_n and_o for_o peace_n as_o all_o king_n have_v and_o they_o be_v to_o advise_v he_o in_o every_o action_n what_o be_v best_a to_o be_v do_v yet_o he_o rest_v not_o in_o that_o counsellor_n we_o ought_v to_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v bless_v the_o consultation_n of_o the_o king_n and_o his_o counsellor_n but_o desire_v the_o people_n that_o they_o will_v pray_v that_o god_n will_v fulfil_v all_o which_o by_o his_o grace_n they_o shall_v determine_v and_o they_o do_v so_o so_o must_v we_o do_v for_o the_o king_n highness_n and_o though_o he_o be_v godly_a and_o wise_a himself_o and_o have_v many_o worthy_a nobleman_n of_o his_o most_o honourable_a privy_a counsel_n who_o be_v of_o great_a wisdom_n and_o long_a experience_n as_o they_o must_v not_o rest_v in_o their_o own_o device_n but_o commend_v they_o unto_o god_n in_o prayer_n and_o desire_v other_o also_o that_o be_v about_o they_o that_o they_o will_v do_v so_o and_o by_o this_o mean_n may_v they_o great_o prosper_v so_o be_v it_o our_o bind_a duty_n to_o pray_v unto_o god_n for_o they_o that_o he_o will_v bless_v their_o consultation_n and_o bring_v they_o to_o pass_v for_o the_o good_a of_o his_o church_n and_o profit_n of_o this_o realm_n and_o as_o they_o do_v weekly_o meet_v at_o the_o counsel_n table_n and_o sometime_o often_o for_o matter_n of_o state_n so_o we_o shall_v continual_o commend_v they_o to_o god_n in_o all_o our_o prayer_n so_o shall_v we_o have_v the_o benefit_n of_o our_o own_o prayer_n when_o god_n shall_v fulfil_v the_o good_a thing_n that_o they_o purpose_v and_o as_o we_o ought_v to_o do_v thus_o always_o so_o especial_o against_o the_o parliament_n we_o shall_v pray_v that_o god_n will_v fulfil_v all_o the_o good_a purpose_n of_o that_o great_a assembly_n for_o the_o root_n out_o of_o popery_n and_o all_o remnant_n of_o superstition_n house_n especial_o all_o consultation_n in_o the_o parliament_n house_n and_o all_o other_o abuse_n and_o for_o the_o establish_n and_o enlarge_n of_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o all_o other_o good_a order_n in_o all_o place_n otherwise_o we_o see_v that_o good_a counsel_n may_v be_v give_v but_o not_o follow_v and_o if_o it_o be_v yet_o not_o bring_v to_o pass_v and_o so_o there_o shall_v not_o that_o good_a be_v do_v that_o might_n and_o which_o many_o good_a man_n in_o the_o parliament_n house_n intend_v therefore_o as_o we_o desire_v to_o enjoy_v the_o common_a benefit_n of_o our_o time_n so_o let_v we_o pray_v not_o only_o for_o the_o king_n but_o for_o all_o our_o governor_n in_o the_o church_n and_o commonwealth_n that_o god_n will_v fulfil_v all_o their_o purpose_n then_o ought_v we_o much_o more_o thus_o to_o pray_v for_o our_o self_n if_o we_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n wise_a than_o we_o be_v for_o when_o we_o have_v take_v the_o best_a advice_n and_o thereupon_o do_v thing_n to_o one_o end_n they_o may_v fall_v out_o to_o another_o purpose_n and_o all_o our_o own_o counsel_n and_o purpose_n yea_o clean_a contrary_a to_o that_o which_o we_o purpose_v and_o so_o we_o shall_v be_v disappoint_v as_o for_o example_n in_o matter_n of_o marriage_n which_o be_v a_o ordinary_a thing_n some_o think_v to_o join_v themselves_o or_o their_o child_n in_o alliance_n with_o such_o and_o such_o hope_v thereby_o to_o advance_v their_o house_n marriage_n as_o in_o matter_n of_o marriage_n but_o it_o fall_v out_o otherwise_o and_o by_o that_o mean_v they_o come_v to_o ruin_v and_o so_o god_n do_v not_o fulfil_v their_o purpose_n and_o this_o be_v the_o very_a case_n of_o king_n jehoshaphat_n 21.6_o 2._o chron._n 18.1_o chap._n 21.6_o who_o join_v himself_o in_o affinity_n with_o ahab_n king_n of_o israel_n by_o join_v his_o elder_a son_n jehoram_n we_o not_o content_v ourselves_o with_o our_o own_o prayer_n but_o desire_v other_o to_o pray_v to_o god_n for_o we_o as_o david_n do_v here_o desire_v the_o people_n thus_o to_o pray_v to_o god_n for_o he_o the_o lord_n grant_v thou_o according_a to_o thy_o heart_n and_o fulfil_v all_o thy_o purpose_n so_o may_v we_o speed_v well_o of_o our_o purpose_n as_o he_o do_v and_o when_o we_o have_v thing_n that_o have_v befall_v we_o in_o the_o same_o acknowledge_v and_o confess_v as_o the_o truth_n be_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n &_o our_o own_o comfort_n that_o whatsoever_o good_a we_o have_v purpose_v for_o our_o own_o benefit_n or_o the_o welfare_n of_o other_o and_o it_o have_v so_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o it_o be_v god_n only_o that_o do_v fulfil_v they_o fulfil_v and_o when_o delight_n when_o other_o be_v pinch_v with_o hunger_n have_v but_o bread_n and_o drink_n and_o not_o enough_o of_o that_o who_o themselves_o and_o their_o child_n do_v eat_v by_o measure_n and_o by_o then_o in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n so_o consider_v of_o they_o that_o they_o may_v rejoice_v for_o god_n have_v give_v they_o to_o they_o to_o that_o end_n as_o solomon_n say_v in_o the_o book_n of_o the_o preacher_n 2.24_o eccle._n 2.24_o that_o this_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o all_o that_o a_o man_n can_v have_v of_o all_o that_o he_o have_v to_o eat_v and_o to_o drink_v and_o to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o that_o also_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n as_o he_o confess_v there_o therefore_o they_o above_o all_o other_o must_v confess_v that_o god_n have_v give_v they_o great_a cause_n of_o joy_n and_o nothing_o can_v so_o befall_v they_o unless_o god_n take_v all_o away_o from_o they_o as_o he_o do_v from_o job_n but_o they_o must_v needs_o acknowledge_v that_o still_o they_o have_v cause_n to_o rejoice_v so_o that_o it_o be_v not_o only_o lawful_a for_o they_o in_o and_z for_o these_o to_o rejoice_v but_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o they_o shall_v do_v so_o and_o it_o be_v require_v at_o their_o hand_n insomuch_o that_o if_o they_o be_v so_o blind_a that_o they_o will_v not_o confess_v that_o they_o have_v great_a cause_n of_o joy_n all_o man_n will_v by_o the_o benefit_n which_o they_o enjoy_v in_o great_a number_n witness_v against_o they_o and_o if_o they_o be_v so_o froward_a that_o they_o will_v not_o rejoice_v all_o man_n will_v condemn_v they_o for_o it_o and_o thus_o we_o see_v that_o all_o sort_n in_o respect_n of_o god_n benefit_n which_o he_o have_v bestow_v upon_o they_o have_v cause_n to_o rejoice_v joy_n the_o praise_n of_o god_n must_v be_v the_o fruit_n of_o our_o joy_n but_o what_o be_v to_o be_v do_v in_o this_o joy_n and_o for_o all_o these_o cause_n of_o joy_n it_o follow_v in_o the_o next_o word_n of_o the_o text_n on_o this_o wise_a and_o set_v up_o our_o banner_n in_o the_o name_n of_o our_o god_n that_o be_v praise_n god_n for_o they_o for_o we_o see_v here_o how_o they_o be_v join_v together_o that_o we_o may_v rejoice_v in_o thy_o salvation_n and_o set_v up_o our_o banner_n in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n so_o they_o say_v that_o this_o shall_v be_v the_o fruit_n of_o their_o joy_n they_o will_v praise_v god_n in_o it_o for_o the_o cause_n of_o it_o and_o this_o aught_o to_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o true_a joy_n in_o all_o man_n and_o for_o all_o thing_n for_o as_o all_o good_a and_o godly_a sorrow_n shall_v drive_v we_o unto_o prayer_n that_o god_n may_v turn_v that_o away_o from_o we_o or_o remove_v it_o for_o which_o we_o do_v sorrow_n so_o on_o the_o true_a joy_n differ_v from_o all_o worldly_a joy_n give_v thanks_n always_o for_o all_o thing_n unto_o god_n even_o the_o father_n in_o the_o name_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n wherein_o one_o kind_n as_o in_o feast_v which_o be_v lawful_a and_o common_a to_o the_o good_a and_o bad_a and_o which_o be_v a_o honest_a mean_n to_o make_v man_n merry_a and_o glad_a he_o show_v the_o diversity_n of_o the_o mirth_n of_o the_o one_o and_o of_o the_o other_o the_o man_n of_o this_o world_n they_o exceed_v and_o fall_v into_o the_o abuse_n of_o god_n creature_n sometime_o till_o they_o be_v drunken_a or_o have_v surfeit_v and_o so_o also_o give_v themselves_o unto_o that_o mirth_n which_o be_v excessive_a and_o immoderate_a and_o sometime_o yea_o common_o join_v with_o profane_a scoff_a or_o some_o wickedness_n the_o child_n of_o god_n use_v his_o creature_n sober_o and_o in_o his_o presence_n even_o at_o their_o feast_n do_v thereby_o provoke_v one_o another_o to_o praise_n god_n and_o make_v themselves_o merry_a in_o god_n and_o as_o in_o his_o sight_n we_o see_v then_o what_o shall_v be_v the_o fruit_n of_o our_o joy_n in_o god_n benefit_n namely_o the_o praise_n of_o god_n and_o to_o what_o end_n also_o he_o give_v to_o we_o so_o many_o thing_n wherein_o we_o may_v rejoice_v even_o that_o he_o may_v have_v the_o whole_a glory_n and_o praise_n of_o they_o so_o that_o whether_o we_o be_v poor_a or_o we_o be_v rich_a have_v we_o more_o or_o have_v we_o less_o to_o rejoice_v in_o this_o must_v be_v the_o fruit_n of_o all_o that_o we_o praise_v god_n for_o such_o thing_n as_o make_v we_o to_o rejoice_v and_o so_o as_o there_o be_v none_o in_o the_o world_n but_o he_o have_v some_o cause_n of_o joy_n so_o the_o lord_n look_v for_o continual_a praise_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o we_o all_o but_o as_o many_o have_v more_o cause_n to_o rejoice_v than_o other_o god_n thus_o all_o have_v cause_n to_o praise_v god_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o manifold_a blessing_n which_o they_o enjoy_v above_o they_o so_o he_o look_v for_o more_o praise_n and_o thanks_n at_o their_o hand_n than_o of_o other_o as_o there_o be_v good_a cause_n for_o to_o who_o much_o be_v give_v of_o they_o much_o shall_v be_v require_v which_o if_o they_o do_v not_o labour_v to_o perform_v and_o profit_n by_o god_n benefit_n and_o by_o their_o joy_n in_o they_o to_o that_o end_n it_o may_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o the_o wicked_a may_v have_v as_o much_o joy_n in_o the_o thing_n that_o they_o possess_v as_o themselves_o yea_o the_o very_a unreasonable_a creature_n and_o the_o brute_n beast_n in_o their_o kind_n for_o if_o our_o joy_n end_v not_o in_o the_o praise_n of_o god_n what_o be_v we_o better_o for_o it_o than_o they_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o a_o man_n to_o say_v i_o live_v merry_o and_o at_o my_o heart_n ease_n i_o have_v many_o cause_n of_o joy_n i_o be_o void_a of_o sorrow_n and_o grief_n i_o have_v nothing_o that_o do_v trouble_v i_o but_o be_o in_o continual_a mirth_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o i_o say_v to_o be_v in_o this_o estate_n and_o thus_o to_o boast_v and_o say_v but_o we_o must_v labour_v to_o be_v thankful_a unto_o god_n for_o it_o that_o be_v my_o father_n be_v old_a and_o will_v short_o die_v and_o then_o i_o must_v mourn_v for_o he_o which_o though_o he_o speak_v with_o a_o ill_a mind_n and_o to_o a_o ill_a end_n for_o in_o the_o hatred_n of_o his_o brother_n jaakob_n he_o comfort_v himself_o that_o he_o may_v short_o kill_v he_o when_o his_o father_n be_v dead_a yet_o nature_n &_o the_o good_a education_n which_o he_o have_v have_v teach_v he_o to_o confess_v that_o when_o his_o father_n die_v he_o shall_v have_v cause_n to_o mourn_v therefore_o if_o there_o be_v no_o commandment_n of_o god_n to_o bind_v they_o unto_o it_o or_o any_o other_o reason_n to_o persuade_v they_o this_o be_v sufficient_a to_o move_v they_o to_o pray_v for_o the_o life_n and_o health_n of_o their_o parent_n that_o themselves_o may_v still_o rejoice_v and_o not_o be_v graceless_a as_o to_o think_v that_o if_o their_o father_n be_v dead_a they_o shall_v be_v merry_a &_o live_v well_o enough_o yea_o better_o than_o they_o do_v now_o &_o so_o not_o to_o care_v whether_o they_o live_v or_o die_v yea_o to_o wish_v rather_o that_o they_o be_v dead_a than_o alive_a as_o there_o be_v too_o many_o such_o in_o the_o world_n who_o in_o a_o wrong_a persuasion_n gape_v after_o their_o father_n death_n as_o absalon_n do_v but_o god_n can_v well_o enough_o disappoint_v they_o of_o their_o long_a hope_n as_o he_o do_v he_o therein_o we_o ought_v to_o pray_v for_o the_o good_a of_o other_o that_o we_o may_v rejoice_v therein_o but_o this_o doctrine_n be_v yet_o more_o general_a and_o do_v concern_v every_o one_o of_o we_o and_o show_v that_o we_o ought_v to_o bear_v that_o affection_n of_o brotherly_a love_n all_o of_o we_o one_o towards_o another_o that_o we_o shall_v desire_v and_o pray_v for_o the_o good_a and_o welfare_n one_o of_o another_o not_o only_o that_o they_o themselves_o but_o that_o we_o may_v rejoice_v in_o that_o good_a which_o god_n shall_v bestow_v upon_o they_o at_o our_o prayer_n and_o if_o we_o be_v thus_o where_o he_o will_v have_v we_o so_o affect_v with_o the_o estate_n of_o our_o brethren_n that_o if_o god_n bless_v they_o we_o shall_v rejoice_v with_o they_o if_o he_o afflict_v and_o punish_v they_o any_o way_n we_o shall_v sorrow_n with_o they_o and_o so_o we_o shall_v count_v their_o sorrow_n and_o joy_n our_o own_o and_o therefore_o when_o they_o be_v in_o any_o distress_n we_o shall_v pray_v for_o their_o deliverance_n that_o we_o may_v rejoice_v with_o they_o and_o in_o they_o and_o true_o if_o we_o come_v to_o pray_v for_o our_o brethren_n with_o this_o affection_n as_o our_o saviour_n christ_n have_v teach_v we_o will_v we_o to_o say_v give_v we_o our_o daily_a bread_n etc._n etc._n so_o that_o we_o shall_v pray_v for_o other_o as_o for_o ourselves_o we_o may_v obtain_v great_a thing_n for_o they_o therefore_o when_o we_o pray_v for_o any_o let_v we_o put_v their_o estate_n upon_o we_o &_o be_v move_v with_o it_o as_o though_o it_o be_v our_o own_o and_o so_o speak_v to_o god_n for_o they_o as_o for_o ourselves_o and_o think_v that_o if_o god_n shall_v bless_v they_o we_o shall_v rejoice_v and_o this_o measure_n of_o love_n in_o prayer_n the_o more_o that_o we_o can_v come_v unto_o the_o more_o assurance_n may_v we_o have_v that_o god_n will_v hear_v we_o for_o they_o nay_o indeed_o without_o it_o we_o can_v have_v little_a or_o none_o at_o all_o that_o god_n will_v hear_v we_o for_o any_o as_o for_o example_n if_o any_o in_o their_o sickness_n do_v desire_v that_o we_o shall_v pray_v for_o they_o here_o in_o the_o church_n and_o we_o do_v so_o we_o must_v desire_v their_o health_n and_o recovery_n not_o only_o that_o the_o party_n himself_o pray_v for_o may_v rejoice_v and_o his_o family_n wife_n and_o child_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o his_o friend_n but_o that_o we_o all_o may_v be_v glad_a and_o comfort_v by_o his_o life_n and_o health_n and_o we_o must_v account_v his_o recovery_n our_o joy_n and_o think_v that_o if_o god_n shall_v hear_v we_o for_o he_o we_o ourselves_o shall_v be_v bind_v to_o give_v thanks_n unto_o god_n for_o it_o and_o when_o the_o lord_n shall_v see_v that_o that_o will_v be_v matter_n of_o joy_n unto_o many_o then_o in_o the_o church_n of_o philippi_n 2.25_o philip._n 2.25_o i_o suppose_v it_o necessary_a to_o send_v he_o unto_o you_o for_o he_o long_v after_o you_o all_o and_o be_v full_a of_o heaviness_n because_o he_o have_v hear_v that_o he_o have_v be_v sick_a and_o no_o doubt_n he_o be_v sick_a very_o near_o unto_o death_n but_o god_n have_v mercy_n on_o he_o and_o not_o on_o he_o only_o but_o on_o i_o also_o lest_o i_o shall_v have_v sorrow_n upon_o sorrow_n thus_o if_o he_o have_v die_v paul_n and_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o church_n of_o god_n shall_v have_v sorrow_v for_o the_o loss_n of_o such_o a_o worthy_a instrument_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n therefore_o they_o be_v in_o great_a heaviness_n already_o god_n will_v not_o by_o take_v he_o away_o increase_v their_o grief_n by_o this_o new_a cause_n of_o sorrow_n but_o as_o they_o all_o desire_v his_o life_n for_o their_o further_a comfort_n so_o god_n do_v raise_v he_o up_o that_o they_o all_o may_v rejoice_v affection_n few_o pray_v for_o their_o brethren_n with_o this_o affection_n but_o for_o the_o most_o part_n man_n be_v not_o thus_o affect_v with_o the_o estate_n of_o their_o brethren_n no_o not_o when_o they_o pray_v for_o they_o but_o for_o want_v of_o love_n as_o if_o their_o affliction_n continue_v still_o upon_o they_o they_o will_v not_o great_o sorrow_n for_o they_o so_o if_o it_o be_v remoove_v and_o take_v away_o they_o will_v not_o great_o rejoice_v but_o it_o be_v all_o one_o with_o they_o howsoever_o it_o fall_v out_o with_o they_o and_o so_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v as_o it_o must_v needs_o that_o they_o pray_v very_o cold_o and_o therefore_o obtain_v very_o little_a or_o nothing_o for_o they_o and_o yet_o our_o saviour_n christ_n have_v teach_v we_o as_o be_v say_v even_o estate_n our_o own_o but_o man_n common_o through_o self-love_n which_o reign_v in_o they_o be_v so_o take_v up_o whole_o into_o their_o own_o estate_n that_o they_o can_v neither_o sorrow_n nor_o rejoice_v nor_o any_o way_n be_v move_v with_o any_o thing_n but_o with_o that_o which_o concern_v themselves_o the_o apostle_n write_v to_o the_o corinthian_n give_v a_o reason_n of_o this_o sympathy_n that_o shall_v be_v among_o all_o the_o true_a believer_n draw_v from_o a_o comparison_n of_o the_o part_n of_o the_o natural_a body_n among_o which_o they_o all_o have_v the_o same_o for_o our_o brethren_n that_o be_v under_o it_o in_o some_o good_a assurance_n that_o god_n in_o his_o good_a time_n will_v of_o his_o unspeakable_a mercy_n and_o love_a kindness_n remove_v it_o or_o
