unto_o his_o health_n and_o by_o this_o mean_n often_o deprive_v himself_o of_o the_o ready_a mean_n of_o cure_n by_o a_o most_o unreasonable_a jealousy_n of_o be_v poison_v so_o when_o man_n be_v once_o possess_v with_o a_o prejudice_n against_o the_o person_n of_o other_o especial_o of_o their_o teacher_n and_o governor_n they_o grow_v jealous_a of_o their_o instruction_n and_o command_n and_o dispute_v where_o they_o shall_v learn_v or_o obey_v and_o quarrel_n with_o their_o duty_n not_o because_o they_o think_v it_o be_v not_o so_o but_o because_o they_o know_v by_o who_o it_o be_v enjoin_v and_o imagine_v they_o can_v never_o enough_o oppose_v what_o come_v from_o those_o who_o they_o have_v learn_v to_o suspect_v or_o hate_v other_o be_v it_o may_v be_v not_o well_o please_v with_o their_o lot_n and_o station_n in_o the_o church_n and_o can_v be_v please_v with_o any_o thing_n whilst_o they_o be_v displease_v with_o that_o but_o will_v think_v themselves_o concern_v to_o dispute_v against_o every_o thing_n that_o come_v from_o such_o as_o be_v advance_v above_o they_o envy_n be_v a_o very_a restless_a and_o quarrelsome_a thing_n and_o in_o whatever_o breast_n it_o once_o get_v entertainment_n that_o man_n shall_v never_o want_v a_o evil_a tongue_n if_o he_o have_v not_o wit_n enough_o to_o dispute_v he_o shall_v never_o want_v malice_n enough_o to_o rail_v or_o slander_v strife_n can_v never_o be_v a_o stranger_n to_o the_o envious_a they_o be_v often_o companion_n and_o go_v hand_n in_o hand_n in_o scripture_n as_o rom._n 13._o 13_o etc._n etc._n we_o must_v not_o here_o pass_v by_o without_o any_o notice_n that_o which_o be_v call_v the_o root_n of_o all_o evil_a the_o love_n of_o money_n where_o the_o love_n of_o this_o world_n be_v there_o be_v cause_n too_o of_o some_o disturbance_n in_o the_o church_n where_o shall_v a_o man_n hope_v to_o find_v a_o church_n that_o be_v sanctuary_n enough_o against_o covetousness_n and_o where_o covetousness_n find_v room_n it_o will_v be_v no_o news_n to_o see_v altar_n set_v up_o against_o altar_n if_o every_o party_n in_o religion_n have_v a_o craft_n of_o its_o own_o to_o get_v wealth_n by_o every_o party_n will_v cry_v up_o its_o own_o diana_n and_o no_o diana_n shall_v want_v a_o army_n to_o fight_v for_o she_o it_o have_v sometime_o be_v account_v a_o piece_n of_o good_a policy_n to_o reconcile_v the_o faction_n to_o the_o government_n of_o the_o church_n by_o give_v they_o a_o share_n in_o it_o and_o where_o this_o be_v practise_v the_o covetous_a will_n sure_o have_v so_o much_o policy_n too_o as_o rather_o to_o be_v factious_a then_o to_o be_v poor_a there_o be_v no_o danger_n of_o disturbance_n from_o the_o moderate_a and_o peaceable_a let_v he_o therefore_o dwell_v poor_a in_o a_o corner_n feast_v by_o himself_o on_o a_o good_a conscience_n it_o be_v pity_n to_o prejudice_v his_o expectation_n of_o a_o great_a reward_n in_o heaven_n by_o give_v he_o preferment_n here_o on_o earth_n but_o the_o importunate_a man_n be_v troublesome_a and_o must_v be_v prefer_v lest_o he_o weary_v we_o and_o the_o turbulent_a and_o seditious_a man_n be_v dangerous_a and_o must_v be_v bribe_v to_o be_v quiet_a and_o shall_v we_o now_o think_v the_o worldling_n a_o fool_n to_o be_v either_o modest_a or_o peaceable_a when_o he_o fear_v to_o be_v poor_a by_o be_v so_o again_o cool_v together_o we_o have_v overheat_v our_o opposite_n and_o make_v the_o church_n too_o hot_a for_o we_o and_o if_o we_o keep_v not_o our_o friend_n warm_a they_o will_v not_o keep_v we_o from_o starve_v thus_o it_o be_v well_o if_o whilst_o god_n and_o religion_n be_v the_o word_n and_o fair_o write_v in_o the_o banner_n mammon_n be_v not_o set_v up_o in_o the_o heart_n and_o the_o battle_n that_o be_v fight_v be_v not_o all_o his_o last_o i_o shall_v name_v but_o one_o thing_n more_o and_o that_o be_v pride_n and_o perhaps_o it_o may_v have_v be_v enough_o to_o have_v name_v this_o one_o for_o all_o see_v we_o be_v tell_v prov._n 13._o 10._o that_o only_o by_o pride_n come_v contention_n whilst_o one_o will_v brook_v no_o superior_a and_o another_o no_o equal_a what_o be_v as_o great_a as_o can_v be_v here_o exercise_v all_o our_o wrath_n and_o revenge_n let_v we_o be_v very_o bitter_a against_o it_o have_v no_o pity_n on_o it_o resolve_v never_o on_o any_o term_n to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o it_o or_o be_v satisfy_v with_o any_o thing_n less_o than_o its_o death_n let_v we_o strive_v to_o subdue_v it_o and_o mortify_v it_o in_o ourselves_o and_o to_o correct_v it_o to_o be_v avoid_v 3._o how_o to_o be_v cast_v out_o 1._o this_o vainglory_n be_v a_o disease_n of_o mind_n whereby_o a_o man_n swell_v himself_o up_o to_o what_o bigness_n he_o can_v in_o the_o be_v he_o be_v conscious_a enough_o of_o his_o own_o emptiness_n and_o will_v make_v up_o what_o he_o want_v of_o real_a worth_n at_o home_n by_o the_o estimation_n of_o other_o praise_n be_v the_o thing_n he_o thirst_v for_o and_o so_o he_o can_v get_v it_o he_o care_v not_o much_o what_o there_o be_v in_o he_o to_o deserve_v it_o so_o he_o may_v but_o have_v a_o name_n and_o reputation_n of_o wife_n and_o learned_a and_o pious_a and_o other_o way_n gift_v and_o qualify_v above_o other_o and_o as_o few_o be_v and_o be_v point_v at_o by_o the_o vulgar_a as_o he_o go_v for_o a_o few-such_a he_o be_v well_o enough_o please_v with_o himself_o whatever_o he_o be_v in_o truth_n he_o can_v fall_v out_o with_o himself_o for_o nothing_o but_o his_o obscurity_n and_o too_o little_a care_n to_o make_v himself_o know_v abroad_o or_o rather_o to_o deceive_v all_o man_n into_o a_o good_a opinion_n of_o he_o by_o seem_v something_o that_o he_o be_v not_o and_o therefore_o all_o his_o study_n upon_o it_o and_o call_v it_o a_o fine_a thing_n and_o fool_n admire_v it_o and_o that_o be_v enough_o this_o be_v the_o thing_n in_o short_a 2._o now_o why_o we_o must_v avoid_v this_o vice_n of_o vainglory_n we_o shall_v see_v cause_n enough_o if_o we_o may_v but_o be_v bring_v to_o see_v 1._o how_o odious_a it_o be_v to_o man_n 2._o how_o dishonourable_a to_o god_n 3._o how_o contrary_a to_o the_o gospel-spirit_n 4._o how_o destructive_a to_o our_o endeavour_n and_o hope_n and_o 5._o what_o a_o plague_n it_o be_v to_o the_o church_n and_o the_o peace_n thereof_o 1._o it_o be_v certain_o odious_a to_o man_n of_o what_o sort_n or_o complexion_n soever_o they_o be_v it_o be_v a_o thing_n which_o no_o man_n can_v endure_v in_o any_o man_n but_o himself_o and_o for_o which_o more_o than_o for_o any_o one_o thing_n beside_o good_a man_n be_v apt_a to_o fall_v out_o with_o themselves_o the_o proud_a man_n though_o he_o can_v free_o indulge_v himself_o in_o it_o yet_o can_v least_o of_o
