likewise_o hear_v this_o voice_n daily_o sound_v in_o the_o church_n that_o there_o be_v a_o number_n of_o man_n in_o the_o counsel_n of_o god_n reject_v which_o shall_v perish_v everlasting_o we_o be_v to_o examine_v our_o estate_n and_o to_o make_v question_n whether_o it_o be_v we_o or_o not_o rather_o then_o curious_o to_o search_v the_o reason_n of_o that_o which_o we_o can_v conceive_v and_o if_o we_o shall_v find_v his_o mercy_n to_o be_v extend_v towards_o we_o in_o prepare_v we_o unto_o glory_n let_v we_o acknowledge_v it_o with_o thankful_a heart_n make_v special_a account_n of_o it_o and_o magnify_v the_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n unto_o us._n the_o last_o point_n follow_v that_o be_v the_o end_n of_o this_o decree_n which_o be_v the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o power_n and_o justice_n rom._n 9.22_o this_o also_o confute_v another_o error_n of_o the_o lutheran_n that_o imagine_v god_n make_v all_o of_o mercy_n hold_v and_o teach_v that_o the_o end_n of_o all_o his_o counsel_n and_o decree_n be_v to_o communicate_v his_o goodness_n and_o mercy_n in_o eternal_a happiness_n to_o all_o his_o creature_n but_o they_o be_v great_o deceive_v for_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n be_v to_o be_v as_o just_a as_o merciful_a and_o therefore_o his_o decree_n must_v be_v answerable_a for_o it_o may_v not_o in_o any_o wise_a contrary_a his_o nature_n again_o god_n be_v as_o good_a in_o his_o justice_n &_o the_o execution_n thereof_o as_o in_o his_o mercy_n though_o therefore_o the_o lord_n be_v goodness_n itself_o intend_v the_o communication_n of_o it_o unto_o all_o his_o creature_n yet_o not_o in_o like_a sort_n but_o after_o a_o diverse_a manner_n unto_o some_o in_o mercy_n unto_o other_o in_o justice_n finis_fw-la a_o sermon_n which_o show_v how_o the_o child_n of_o god_n be_v neither_o subject_n to_o the_o dominion_n of_o sin_n nor_o total_a defection_n from_o grace_n 1._o john_n 3.9_o whosoever_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n sin_v christian_a and_o brotherly_a love_n to_o the_o end_n they_o may_v be_v well_o furnish_v with_o spiritual_a joy_n and_o assure_v of_o their_o fellowship_n &_o communion_n with_o god_n whereupon_o he_o propound_v unto_o they_o these_o two_o point_n of_o faith_n and_o love_n handle_v they_o confuse_o and_o by_o course_n pass_v from_o the_o one_o to_o the_o other_o further_o he_o amplifi_v both_o these_o by_o their_o contrary_n dissuade_v they_o both_o from_o seducer_n and_o idol_n and_o also_o from_o the_o love_n of_o the_o world_n &_o the_o hatred_n of_o their_o brethren_n have_v therefore_o make_v entrance_n in_o the_o two_o former_a chapter_n into_o this_o doctrine_n now_o he_o proceed_v in_o the_o same_o argument_n exhort_v the_o faithful_a in_o this_o three_o chapter_n to_o the_o study_n of_o holiness_n in_o general_a and_o more_o special_o to_o the_o love_n of_o their_o brethren_n and_o in_o the_o first_o verse_n he_o set_v down_o the_o dignity_n and_o excellency_n of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n note_v it_o to_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o singular_a preferment_n &_o preeminence_n for_o a_o man_n to_o be_v call_v the_o son_n of_o god_n which_o sentence_n he_o further_o amplifi_v by_o a_o prolepsis_n wherein_o he_o meet_v with_o the_o perverse_a judgement_n both_o of_o the_o world_n and_o also_o of_o the_o faithful_a servant_n and_o child_n of_o god_n as_o for_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o world_n he_o insinuate_v that_o it_o be_v to_o be_v contemn_v because_o it_o arise_v of_o the_o ignorance_n of_o god_n in_o the_o end_n of_o the_o first_o verse_n as_o for_o the_o faithful_a lest_o they_o shall_v be_v too_o much_o daunt_v and_o discourage_v through_o the_o manifold_a affliction_n and_o cross_n whereunto_o they_o be_v subject_a in_o this_o life_n he_o oppose_v unto_o their_o present_a miserable_a estate_n the_o future_a glory_n and_o felicity_n which_o certain_o abide_v they_o after_o this_o life_n which_o felicity_n he_o define_v to_o consist_v in_o a_o similitude_n with_o god_n and_o in_o a_o perfect_a see_v of_o he_o face_n to_o face_n that_o be_v in_o immediate_a fellowship_n and_o conjunction_n with_o god_n verse_n 2._o now_o from_o the_o hope_n of_o this_o glory_n and_o happiness_n he_o exhort_v unto_o the_o study_n of_o holiness_n urge_v the_o same_o by_o the_o example_n of_o god_n himself_o vers_fw-la 3._o which_o exhortation_n he_o illustrate_v by_o the_o contrary_a dehort_v from_o sin_n which_o be_v flat_a opposite_a unto_o holiness_n and_o that_o by_o diverse_a argument_n first_o from_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o which_o be_v a_o anomy_n or_o transgression_n of_o the_o law_n vers_fw-la 4._o second_o from_o the_o end_n of_o christ_n his_o first_o come_v into_o the_o world_n which_o be_v to_o take_v away_o efficient_a cause_n of_o holiness_n that_o be_v regeneration_n vers_fw-la 9_o wherein_o be_v lay_v down_o these_o two_o point_n first_o the_o description_n of_o the_o state_n and_o condition_n of_o a_o man_n regenerate_v by_o two_o argument_n the_o first_o whereof_o be_v take_v from_o his_o nature_n which_o be_v to_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n which_o be_v as_o natural_a unto_o he_o as_o it_o be_v natural_a unto_o a_o man_n to_o be_v bear_v of_o his_o natural_a parent_n the_o second_o be_v take_v from_o the_o deny_a effect_n he_o sin_v not_o second_o a_o reason_n for_o his_o seed_n etc._n etc._n in_o the_o latter_a end_n of_o the_o verse_n there_o be_v a_o inverse_n repetition_n of_o the_o former_a branch_n with_o a_o amplification_n from_o the_o cause_n and_o this_o be_v the_o coherence_n and_o disposition_n of_o these_o word_n now_o let_v we_o come_v to_o a_o more_o particular_a examination_n of_o they_o
