to_o our_o desire_n and_o purpose_n how_o we_o shall_v avoid_v those_o evil_n with_o which_o they_o threaten_v we_o that_o we_o may_v proceed_v more_o clear_o we_o we_o will_v consider_v what_o day_n may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v evil_a and_o what_o make_v they_o so_o and_o by_o this_o our_o way_n will_v be_v more_o plain_a which_o we_o be_v to_o take_v either_o to_o alter_v or_o to_o decline_v the_o evil_n 1._o those_o day_n be_v say_v to_o be_v evil_a which_o hinder_v we_o from_o do_v or_o enjoy_v that_o good_a which_o otherwise_o we_o may_v the_o evil_a of_o they_o be_v in_o such_o thing_n as_o these_o poverty_n reproach_n and_o a_o bad_a name_n slavery_n confinement_n want_n and_o loss_n of_o friend_n sickness_n and_o death_n the_o ignorance_n and_o mistake_v of_o many_o but_o above_o all_o sin_z of_o which_o there_o be_v great_a danger_n for_o all_o the_o rest_n take_v man_n off_o from_o do_v good_a but_o sin_n make_v they_o also_o do_v evil._n if_o we_o be_v make_v poor_a we_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o feed_v the_o hungry_a or_o clothe_v the_o naked_a or_o relieve_v those_o that_o be_v ready_a to_o perish_v which_o the_o rich_a man_n can_v and_o if_o we_o die_v we_o be_v cut_v off_o from_o do_v or_o enjoy_v any_o more_o the_o good_a of_o this_o life_n but_o if_o we_o commit_v sin_n and_o practice_v wickedness_n we_o not_o only_o do_v no_o good_a but_o we_o do_v that_o which_o be_v contrary_a to_o it_o evil._n we_o not_o only_o deprive_v ourselves_o of_o the_o enjoyment_n that_o be_v innocent_a and_o natural_a but_o we_o by_o this_o bring_v ourselves_o under_o great_a suffering_n and_o misery_n these_o and_o such_o like_a be_v the_o evil_n of_o any_o day_n and_o the_o divine_a providence_n bring_v about_o all_o the_o rest_n except_z sin_z either_o by_o natural_a and_o unseen_a cause_n which_o we_o do_v not_o know_v or_o can_v resist_v or_o by_o other_o man_n who_o either_o master_n we_o by_o their_o power_n or_o outreach_v we_o by_o their_o wit_n come_v from_o ourselves_o and_o though_o man_n general_o complain_v of_o the_o time_n the_o time_n yet_o in_o many_o case_n if_o they_o will_v speak_v true_o and_o proper_o they_o must_v blame_v themselves_o for_o they_o can_v but_o observe_v that_o other_o man_n be_v and_o they_o may_v be_v very_o good_a in_o those_o very_a bad_a time_n which_o they_o so_o much_o accuse_v our_o great_a danger_n be_v from_o ourselves_o more_o than_o from_o time_n and_o thing_n without_o we_o for_o without_o our_o own_o consent_n nothing_o can_v make_v we_o sin_n and_o if_o we_o escape_v sin_n and_o wickedness_n nothing_o can_v do_v we_o much_o harm_n if_o we_o keep_v ourselves_o from_o do_v evil_a we_o shall_v not_o fall_v into_o the_o worst_a of_o all_o those_o mischief_n of_o which_o we_o be_v other_o or_o by_o your_o ill_n or_o for_o want_n of_o your_o good_a counsel_n some_o public_a person_n be_v vicious_a and_o their_o vice_n have_v have_v influence_n on_o the_o generality_n and_o the_o age_n have_v be_v corrupt_v by_o this_o and_o now_o you_o complain_v against_o the_o time_n when_o as_o yourself_o be_v a_o great_a cause_n why_o they_o be_v so_o bad_a how_o many_o be_v there_o who_o shall_v turn_v their_o accusation_n of_o the_o time_n against_o themselves_o they_o have_v and_o do_v help_v to_o make_v good_a time_n bad_a and_o bad_a time_n worse_o they_o neglect_v their_o own_o duty_n and_o do_v not_o do_v the_o good_a of_o their_o place_n they_o be_v foolish_a and_o idle_a and_o careless_a and_o vicious_a and_o whilst_o they_o be_v so_o no_o time_n will_v be_v good_a to_o they_o they_o will_v never_o find_v a_o season_n convenient_a enough_o wherein_o to_o do_v well_o such_o a_o temper_n as_o this_o will_v turn_v the_o best_a into_o very_o bad_a time_n let_v we_o therefore_o in_o the_o first_o place_n take_v care_n that_o by_o our_o wickedness_n and_o folly_n we_o do_v not_o change_v good_a day_n into_o bad_a nor_o increase_v the_o evil_a of_o any_o time_n it_o often_o bear_v a_o respect_n to_o both_o and_o signify_v the_o care_n that_o be_v take_v in_o order_n to_o the_o do_v any_o thing_n as_o well_o as_o it_o can_v be_v do_v so_o that_o by_o this_o we_o be_v at_o once_o direct_v to_o the_o end_n and_o to_o the_o way_n or_o mean_n by_o which_o it_o be_v to_o be_v attain_v the_o end_n be_v a_o perfect_o good_a life_n the_o way_n to_o it_o be_v by_o a_o diligent_a care_n now_o as_o it_o be_v common_o say_v that_o to_o live_v signify_v more_o than_o do_v some_o single_a action_n so_o i_o must_v say_v that_o it_o be_v more_o than_o all_o our_o action_n for_o as_o it_o be_v requisite_a to_o make_v the_o whole_a not_o only_o that_o all_o the_o part_n be_v there_o but_o they_o must_v be_v unite_v too_o so_o it_o be_v in_o the_o matter_n before_o we_o to_o make_v up_o a_o good_a life_n the_o action_n must_v not_o only_o be_v good_a single_o and_o by_o themselves_o but_o in_o that_o relation_n proportion_n and_o order_n which_o they_o have_v unto_o each_o other_o so_o that_o in_o short_a to_o walk_v or_o live_v exact_o be_v to_o take_v care_n that_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o our_o life_n be_v such_o as_o it_o can_v be_v better_a as_o when_o they_o approve_v and_o commend_v or_o blame_v and_o condemn_v several_a practice_n and_o whenever_o they_o hear_v such_o a_o description_n of_o good_a life_n as_o they_o understand_v they_o give_v a_o immediate_a assent_n to_o it_o but_o because_o in_o too_o many_o this_o idea_n be_v not_o so_o actual_o observe_v as_o it_o will_v be_v well_o if_o it_o be_v that_o i_o may_v raise_v action_n be_v so_o guide_v by_o a_o true_a and_o clear_a and_o large_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o himself_o aâ—d_v the_o rest_n of_o the_o world_n that_o he_o love_v god_n with_o all_o his_o heart_n and_o bear_v good_a will_v to_o other_o man_n as_o he_o do_v to_o himself_o that_o he_o glorify_v god_n and_o promote_v his_o own_o and_o his_o brethren_n best_a state_n in_o all_o he_o do_v and_o the_o season_n second_o i_o will_v offer_v some_o reason_n why_o we_o shall_v redeem_v the_o season_n and_o particular_o consider_v that_o which_o be_v here_o express_v the_o day_n be_v evil._n three_o i_o will_v mention_v some_o of_o those_o thing_n which_o rob_v we_o of_o our_o time_n and_o deprive_v we_o of_o the_o season_n which_o st._n paul_n here_o exhort_v we_o to_o make_v our_o own_o suppose_v it_o will_v be_v grant_v that_o the_o apostle_n in_o this_o place_n intend_v the_o time_n or_o season_n of_o do_v good_a action_n such_o as_o be_v fit_a and_o become_a profitable_a and_o beneficial_a such_o as_o will_v be_v honourable_a to_o god_n and_o give_v a_o reputation_n to_o christian_a religion_n help_v forward_o our_o own_o and_o other_o happiness_n so_o that_o st._n paul_n exhort_v we_o here_o to_o redeem_v the_o time_n of_o do_v all_o that_o good_a which_o the_o gospel_n require_v of_o live_v that_o excellent_a life_n and_o practise_v all_o those_o virtue_n which_o be_v agreeable_a to_o the_o dispensation_n of_o christianity_n of_o do_v all_o those_o good_a work_n here_o on_o earth_n which_o by_o our_o perfect_a institution_n we_o 〈◊〉_d assist_v and_o oblige_v justice_n and_o beget_v such_o a_o disposition_n in_o they_o as_o may_v endanger_v their_o be_v irrecoverable_o bad_a and_o miserable_a i_o can_v but_o think_v that_o these_o evil_n be_v medicinal_a that_o even_o poverty_n and_o disgrace_n and_o such_o other_o calamity_n do_v not_o only_o contribute_v to_o bad_a man_n become_v good_a but_o to_o good_a man_n be_v better_o by_o give_v they_o a_o opportunity_n for_o the_o exercise_n of_o some_o virtue_n which_o will_v have_v have_v no_o place_n in_o a_o prosperous_a state_n and_o be_v necessary_a to_o our_o perfection_n but_o though_o i_o grant_v all_o this_o yet_o consider_v the_o imperfection_n of_o the_o best_a of_o man_n and_o the_o necessity_n of_o health_n and_o liberty_n and_o plenty_n and_o peace_n to_o enable_v they_o for_o those_o work_n which_o be_v proper_a and_o useful_a in_o this_o state_n and_o to_o complete_a their_o virtue_n which_o can_v never_o be_v unless_o they_o pass_v through_o variety_n of_o condition_n i_o can_v but_o look_v on_o these_o thing_n as_o conduce_v to_o the_o good_a life_n of_o christian_n however_o these_o thing_n may_v not_o facilitate_v the_o practice_n of_o virtue_n to_o all_o man_n of_o god_n shall_v give_v we_o new_a opportunity_n let_v we_o not_o again_o foolish_o and_o careless_o squander_v or_o idle_o sleep_v they_o away_o or_o froward_o waste_v they_o lest_o we_o just_o provoke_v god_n to_o deny_v we_o any_o more_o which_o will_v be_v a_o most_o terrible_a judgement_n and_o yet_o very_o righteous_a we_o have_v lose_v much_o time_n never_o to_o be_v recover_v do_v therefore_o what_o may_v be_v do_v to_o redeem_v what_o be_v past_a by_o double_a diligence_n in_o improve_n the_o future_a let_v i_o add_v that_o the_o time_n be_v come_v that_o we_o shall_v wish_v
