may_v be_v demand_v what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o here_o be_v so_o many_o thing_n heap_v up_o for_o the_o confirmation_n of_o the_o authority_n of_o this_o book_n sure_o we_o must_v think_v there_o be_v some_o special_a cause_n and_o reason_n of_o it_o for_o the_o holy_a ghost_n do_v not_o use_v to_o deal_v so_o much_o and_o so_o earnest_o in_o a_o matter_n but_o upon_o great_a cause_n we_o may_v easy_o gather_v what_o the_o cause_n be_v the_o book_n paint_v out_o the_o whore_n of_o babylon_n and_o the_o whole_a kingdom_n of_o the_o great_a antichrist_n together_o with_o all_o satan_n cunning_a and_o fleight_n therein_o and_o for_o this_o cause_n satan_n have_v labour_v especial_o to_o weaken_v the_o credit_n and_o authority_n of_o this_o book_n he_o by_o some_o mean_n in_o old_a time_n prevail_v thus_o far_o that_o even_o among_o some_o church_n of_o true_a christian_n the_o authority_n and_o truth_n of_o it_o be_v doubt_v of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n do_v well_o foresee_v the_o practice_n of_o satan_n and_o therefore_o bring_v the_o more_o reason_n for_o the_o confirmation_n thereof_o if_o the_o credit_n and_o authority_n of_o this_o book_n shall_v never_o have_v be_v impugn_a there_o need_v not_o any_o such_o special_a confirmation_n but_o now_o god_n be_v thank_v there_o be_v no_o question_n or_o controversy_n concern_v the_o authority_n of_o this_o prophecy_n it_o be_v receive_v as_o authentical_a by_o the_o common_a consent_n of_o all_o the_o church_n almost_o all_o the_o ancient_a father_n do_v acknowledge_v it_o to_o be_v canonical_a the_o new_a writer_n do_v with_o one_o voice_n give_v their_o consent_n and_o approbation_n unto_o it_o the_o papist_n themselves_o do_v acknowledge_v it_o to_o be_v the_o sacred_a and_o undoubted_a word_n of_o god_n though_o of_o all_o scripture_n they_o can_v endure_v it_o shall_v be_v meddle_v withal_o

hold_v in_o the_o same_o account_n with_o the_o book_n of_o moses_n and_o of_o the_o prophet_n for_o all_o thing_n contain_v in_o it_o shall_v as_o certain_o be_v fulfil_v in_o their_o time_n as_o they_o be_v in_o esay_n in_o jeremy_n in_o ezechiel_n in_o daniel_n and_o in_o the_o rest_n we_o find_v many_o thing_n which_o the_o lord_n show_v by_o they_o long_o before_o they_o come_v to_o pass_v even_o so_o there_o be_v many_o thing_n foreshowed_n and_o fore-prophesied_n in_o this_o book_n which_o in_o their_o time_n shall_v be_v assure_o fulfil_v nay_o we_o see_v and_o know_v that_o many_o thing_n here_o foretold_v be_v already_o fulfil_v and_o some_o thing_n be_v come_v to_o pass_v even_o in_o these_o our_o day_n he_o that_o shall_v look_v into_o the_o time_n that_o be_v past_a since_o this_o prophecy_n be_v give_v shall_v find_v that_o all_o thing_n have_v fall_v out_o agreeable_a to_o the_o prophecy_n of_o this_o book_n and_o sure_o if_o there_o be_v none_o other_o thing_n to_o the_o four_o to_o the_o twelve_o chapter_n and_o the_o last_o vision_n be_v contain_v in_o all_o the_o chapter_n follow_v from_o the_o twelve_o to_o the_o end_n as_o concern_v the_o first_o vision_n my_o purpose_n be_v not_o to_o stand_v much_o upon_o it_o because_o it_o be_v plain_a and_o easy_a to_o understand_v and_o because_o it_o contain_v no_o prophecy_n of_o thing_n to_o come_v but_o only_o open_v the_o present_a state_n of_o the_o church_n at_o that_o time_n and_o also_o because_o i_o have_v already_o touch_v the_o sum_n of_o it_o in_o handle_v the_o circumstantial_a point_n i_o and_o at_o last_o he_o see_v they_o join_v battle_n 19_o verse_n 19_o i_o see_v say_v saint_n john_n the_o beast_n and_o the_o king_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o their_o army_n gather_v together_o to_o make_v battle_n against_o he_o that_o sit_v upon_o the_o white_a horse_n and_o against_o his_o army_n now_o all_o this_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v of_o the_o battle_n betwixt_o the_o papist_n and_o the_o protestant_n in_o these_o last_o day_n but_o may_v some_o man_n say_v who_o shall_v have_v the_o victory_n what_o be_v the_o success_n what_o be_v the_o issue_n let_v we_o hear_v of_o that_o defer_v till_o the_o very_a come_n of_o christ_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n antichrist_n shall_v prevail_v but_o it_o will_v be_v object_v that_o s._n paul_n say_v the_o lord_n shall_v consume_v within_o my_o compass_n for_o i_o do_v but_o relate_v saint_n john_n word_n and_o explain_v they_o in_o such_o measure_n as_o i_o be_o able_a this_o prophecy_n do_v plain_o declare_v that_o babylon_n shall_v we_o not_o believe_v it_o why_o be_v we_o so_o slow_a to_o believe_v all_o that_o be_v write_v in_o the_o scripture_n have_v god_n speak_v it_o and_o shall_v it_o not_o come_v to_o pass_v shall_v any_o jot_n of_o his_o word_n fail_v shall_v we_o think_v he_o jest_v with_o we_o when_o he_o do_v so_o often_o and_o so_o serious_o tell_v we_o of_o the_o down_o fall_v of_o rome_n sure_o sure_o the_o cause_n why_o man_n be_v not_o full_o persuade_v of_o the_o final_a fall_n of_o rome_n be_v because_o they_o do_v not_o diligent_o peruse_v this_o book_n of_o the_o apocalypse_n but_o till_o he_o have_v utter_o root_v out_o of_o his_o dominion_n all_o the_o curse_a crew_n of_o popish_a jebusite_n and_o all_o such_o as_o have_v receive_v the_o beast_n mark_v and_o especial_o the_o toleration_n here_o also_o i_o do_v most_o humble_o and_o earnest_o entreat_v all_o my_o learned_a and_o godly_a brethren_n the_o minister_n and_o preacher_n of_o this_o church_n of_o england_n that_o in_o all_o their_o public_a teach_n and_o private_a proceed_n they_o will_v make_v strong_a opposition_n against_o rome_n and_o romish_a religion_n and_o i_o beseech_v the_o god_n of_o god_n that_o there_o may_v be_v no_o breach_n of_o love_n nor_o alienation_n of_o affection_n among_o we_o but_o that_o we_o may_v all_o go_v together_o hand_n in_o hand_n and_o arm_n in_o arm_n to_o preach_v holy_a ghost_n say_v they_o have_v not_o receive_v a_o kingdom_n but_o shall_v receive_v power_n as_o king_n at_o a_o hour_n with_o the_o beast_n which_o be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v simple_o
