near_o unto_o we_o for_o as_o much_o as_o thou_o see_v we_o to_o be_v persecute_v and_o trouble_v by_o the_o wicked_a and_o how_o they_o come_v upon_o we_o to_o destroy_v we_o and_o that_o thou_o be_v right_a before_o they_o and_o against_o they_o to_o beat_v they_o back_o and_o to_o bear_v their_o blow_n all_o this_o do_v i_o confess_v o_o lord_n but_o yet_o i_o you_o not_o this_o after_o a_o visible_a &_o worldly_a manner_n how_o then_o it_o be_v because_o thy_o commandment_n be_v true_a david_n then_o know_v that_o god_n be_v near_o unto_o he_o because_o he_o settle_v himself_o upon_o start_v he_o show_v then_o that_o the_o faithful_a ought_v not_o too_o be_v as_o it_o be_v in_o their_o a._n b._n c._n but_o must_v be_v long_a time_n exercise_v as_o david_n protest_v of_o himself_o commandment_n which_o thou_o haste_v ground_v for_o ever_o so_o then_o let_v we_o learn_v that_o if_o we_o will_v bold_o strive_v against_o all_o the_o assault_n wherewith_o we_o may_v be_v assail_v we_o must_v continue_v in_o this_o knowledge_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o we_o shall_v always_o find_v he_o ready_a to_o be_v near-hand_o we_o so_o that_o we_o may_v be_v sure_a of_o his_o protection_n not_o for_o a_o day_n only_o but_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n and_o so_o let_v we_o thorough_o record_n this_o lesson_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v say_v with_o david_n that_o we_o have_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n so_o deep_o imprint_v in_o our_o heart_n as_o that_o we_o have_v long_o time_n since_o know_v what_o be_v already_o in_o they_o too_o wit_n that_o god_n have_v establish_v they_o that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o although_o we_o shall_v see_v a_o great_a number_n of_o change_n in_o this_o world_n that_o all_o thing_n be_v change_v and_o turn_v yet_o that_o god_n be_v no_o chaungeling_n that_o he_o never_o alter_v his_o mind_n that_o his_o word_n be_v as_o it_o be_v from_o the_o beginning_n and_o as_o it_o shall_v continue_v for_o ever_o that_o it_o shall_v never_o be_v subject_a to_o all_o the_o turn_n and_o change_n of_o this_o world_n but_o shall_v ever_o abide_v in_o his_o full_a strength_n and_o virtue_n because_o that_o god_n have_v establish_v it_o for_o ever_o and_o this_o be_v even_o so_o as_o that_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v prepapare_v to_o call_v upon_o god_n to_o wit_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v settle_v upon_o the_o true_a confidence_n of_o his_o promise_n that_o we_o shall_v have_v know_v the_o everlasting_a power_n &_o strength_n which_o he_o have_v give_v to_o his_o word_n that_o be_v that_o he_o will_v remain_v always_o like_a unto_o himself_o when_o i_o say_v we_o shall_v have_v know_v this_o we_o may_v bold_o come_v and_o present_v ourselves_o before_o he_o be_v assure_v that_o he_o will_v make_v we_o feel_v by_o proof_n that_o which_o he_o promise_v we_o so_o oftentimes_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v recourse_n unto_o he_o trust_v herein_o that_o he_o have_v render_v unto_o we_o a_o testimony_n of_o the_o love_n which_o he_o bear_v us._n now_o let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n and_o father_n in_o acknowledge_v our_o innumerable_a offence_n which_o we_o daily_o commit_v against_o he_o beseech_v he_o that_o he_o will_v so_o touch_v we_o as_o that_o in_o steed_n that_o we_o have_v be_v over_o much_o give_v to_o our_o fleshly_a affection_n and_o vanity_n of_o this_o world_n that_o now_o we_o seek_v none_o other_o way_n but_o whole_o too_o order_v ourselves_o according_a to_o his_o good_a will_n be_v assure_v that_o although_o we_o be_v feeble_a and_o weak_a yea_o and_o utter_o void_a of_o all_o strength_n so_o that_o we_o can_v stepe_v one_o foot_n forward_o without_o stumble_v or_o else_o in_o go_v backward_o we_o be_v far_o from_o he_o yet_o let_v we_o not_o doubt_n but_o that_o he_o will_v be_v near_o at_o hand_n too_o help_v we_o and_o also_o that_o when_o he_o have_v make_v we_o too_o feel_v his_o help_n that_o he_o will_v give_v we_o that_o grace_n that_o we_o may_v be_v so_o thankful_a unto_o he_o as_o he_o deserve_v desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o too_o glorify_v he_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n for_o so_o many_o his_o benefit_n as_o he_o daily_o give_v we_o and_o liberal_o bestow_v upon_o us._n that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o grant_v unto_o we_o this_o grace_n but_o also_o unto_o all_o people_n and_o nation_n of_o the_o earth_n etc._n etc._n the_o xx_o sermon_n upon_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n resh_n behold_v my_o affliction_n and_o deliver_v i_o for_o i_o have_v not_o forget_v thy_o law_n plead_v my_o cause_n and_o deliver_v i_o quicken_v i_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n salvation_n be_v far_o from_o the_o ungodly_a because_o they_o seek_v not_o thy_o statute_n great_a mean_a while_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v that_o god_n will_v exercise_v we_o with_o diverse_a affliction_n so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n wherefore_o such_o be_v the_o condition_n and_o state_n of_o christian_n so_o long_o as_o they_o shall_v live_v here_o upon_o the_o earth_n that_o be_v they_o must_v strive_v &_o be_v exercise_v with_o diverse_a sort_n of_o grieve_v sometime_o of_o the_o body_n and_o otherwhiles_o of_o the_o soul_n and_o therefore_o for_o this_o cause_n must_v we_o arm_v ourselves_o to_o the_o end_n we_o be_v not_o overcome_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o conflict_n now_o the_o principal_a piece_n of_o our_o armour_n be_v to_o pray_v un-god_n and_o to_o call_v upon_o he_o to_o help_v us._n and_o to_o bring_v this_o about_o we_o be_v thorough_o to_o consider_v how_o all_o the_o faithful_a which_o live_v long_o before_o our_o time_n proceed_v herein_o too_o the_o end_n we_o may_v order_v ourselves_o after_o their_o example_n as_o in_o this_o text_n here_o we_o see_v how_o david_n be_v even_o extreme_o afflict_v again_o we_o see_v also_o how_o he_o behave_v himself_o in_o all_o his_o affliction_n which_o although_o they_o be_v very_o vehement_a yet_o do_v they_o not_o hinder_v he_o too_o have_v recourse_n untoo_o god_n and_o of_o he_o he_o be_v rescue_v and_o save_v see_v then_o what_o we_o have_v to_o meditate_v upon_o too_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v do_v the_o like_a behold_v my_o affliction_n and_o deliver_v i_o for_o i_o do_v not_o forget_v thy_o law_n when_o as_o he_o desire_v god_n to_o look_v unto_o his_o affliction_n it_o be_v even_o the_o same_o which_o we_o have_v already_o say_v too_o wit_n that_o although_o god_n love_v he_o yet_o will_v he_o not_o but_o that_o he_o shall_v be_v subject_a too_o a_o great_a number_n of_o misery_n torment_n and_o grief_n let_v we_o not_o think_v then_o to_o be_v privilege_v so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v to_o walk_v here_o bilowe_a on_o the_o earth_n but_o that_o god_n will_v exercise_v we_o and_o assay_v and_o prove_v our_o patience_n as_o he_o have_v prove_v david_n
but_o yet_o have_v i_o chief_o desire_v thy_o word_n &_o have_v even_o strive_v with_o myself_o to_o subdue_v all_o the_o evil_a affection_n of_o my_o flesh_n here_o we_o see_v what_o doctrine_n we_o have_v to_o gather_v unto_o ourselves_o out_o of_o this_o place_n to_o wit_n that_o if_o we_o will_v be_v the_o good_a scholar_n of_o god_n and_o take_v delight_n in_o the_o way_n of_o his_o testimony_n we_o must_v first_o subdue_v the_o lust_n of_o our_o flesh_n &_o not_o learn_v to_o be_v give_v to_o worldly_a thing_n neither_o yet_o to_o be_v nousle_v in_o that_o which_o we_o imagine_v to_o be_v the_o high_a point_n of_o our_o felicity_n but_o that_o we_o may_v understand_v to_o contemn_v riches_n &_o all_o other_o thing_n whatsoever_o which_o may_v withdraw_v we_o from_o our_o god_n and_o our_o saviour_n jesus_n christ_n 3.8_o phil._n 3.8_o to_o make_v no_o more_o account_n of_o it_o then_o of_o dung_n and_o dirt_n as_o s._n paul_n say_v and_o yet_o it_o be_v most_o sure_a that_o david_n contemn_v not_o the_o riches_n which_o he_o have_v for_o be_v a_o mighty_a rich_a king_n as_o we_o know_v yet_o he_o cast_v not_o his_o gold_n &_o silver_n into_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o sea_n but_o use_v of_o the_o abundance_n &_o store_n which_o god_n have_v give_v he_o yea_o we_o see_v what_o a_o excellent_a and_o beautiful_a house_n he_o have_v as_o the_o holy_a history_n tell_v us._n but_o yet_o he_o follow_v the_o rule_n which_o the_o scripture_n set_v down_o unto_o we_o which_o be_v that_o he_o so_o use_v the_o good_n of_o this_o world_n as_o though_o he_o never_o have_v they_o we_o must_v therefore_o pass_v through_o this_o world_n 7.31_o 1._o cor._n 7.31_o without_o stay_v ourselves_o altogether_o in_o it_o as_o s._n paul_n exhort_v that_o if_o god_n give_v we_o abundance_n of_o riches_n we_o may_v know_v how_o to_o use_v they_o with_o out_o have_v our_o heart_n imprison_v in_o they_o &_o yet_o notwithstanding_o to_o be_v poor_a in_o spirit_n to_o wit_n to_o be_v ready_a to_o forsake_v all_o whatsoever_o as_o often_o as_o god_n will_v have_v we_o to_o be_v rid_v of_o they_o &_o to_o have_v always_o one_o foot_n ready_a lift_v up_o to_o go_v unto_o he_o whensoever_o it_o shall_v be_v his_o will_n &_o pleasure_n to_o take_v we_o out_o of_o this_o world_n but_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o david_n have_v speak_v here_o of_o the_o abundance_n of_o riches_n for_o we_o see_v it_o make_v man_n covetous_a which_o be_v the_o springhead_n of_o all_o mischief_n as_o saint_n paul_n say_v 1â—_n 1._o tim._n 6_o 1â—_n forasmuch_o then_o as_o we_o be_v so_o much_o give_v to_o the_o good_n of_o this_o world_n and_o that_o we_o hold_v ourselves_o accurse_v if_o we_o have_v not_o wherewithal_o and_o they_o to_o be_v bless_v which_o be_v well_o furnish_v with_o they_o let_v we_o keep_v well_o the_o lesson_n which_o be_v here_o teach_v we_o to_o wit_n that_o all_o our_o desire_n must_v be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n as_o in_o all_o manner_n of_o riches_n to_o wit_n that_o all_o our_o delight_n and_o contentation_n be_v whole_o in_o they_o now_o in_o the_o end_n david_n go_v on_o and_o say_v i_o will_v meditate_v in_o thy_o commandment_n and_o consider_v thy_o way_n my_o delight_n shall_v be_v in_o thy_o statute_n &_o i_o will_v not_o forget_v thy_o word_n this_o be_v the_o conclusion_n to_o confirm_v the_o matter_n which_o we_o have_v already_o speak_v off_o for_o david_n here_o speak_v of_o no_o new_a matter_n but_o protest_v as_o he_o have_v begin_v that_o his_o delight_n shall_v be_v always_o in_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n &_o in_o the_o doctrine_n contain_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n and_o that_o he_o will_v bestow_v his_o whole_a study_n therein_o &_o so_o continue_v the_o same_o and_o never_o forget_v the_o desire_n which_o he_o have_v to_o profit_v in_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n if_o david_n now_o have_v thus_o say_v let_v we_o understand_v that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o we_o to_o be_v well_o affect_v to_o serve_v god_n and_o that_o for_o the_o perform_v thereof_o that_o we_o have_v already_o sufficient_o travel_v but_o we_o must_v also_o be_v prick_v forward_o that_o we_o may_v always_o go_v on_o for_o even_o the_o very_a faithful_a never_o run_v with_o so_o fervent_a and_o hot_a a_o desire_n but_o that_o they_o continual_o draw_v one_o leg_n after_o they_o &_o never_o come_v unto_o god_n but_o in_o halt_v wise_a what_o be_v there_o then_o for_o we_o to_o do_v forsooth_o we_o must_v protest_v with_o david_n never_o to_o forget_v that_o which_o god_n have_v once_o declare_v unto_o we_o and_o also_o never_o to_o cease_v to_o prick_v ourselves_o on_o to_o the_o end_n there_o may_v be_v great_a vehemency_n in_o we_o to_o go_v unto_o he_o with_o a_o more_o servant_n desire_n and_o bold_a courage_n so_o that_o at_o the_o last_o we_o may_v grow_v to_o this_o perfection_n whereunto_o god_n call_v &_o allure_v we_o that_o be_v that_o be_v uncase_v from_o out_o of_o our_o flesh_n and_o nature_n he_o may_v full_o conjoin_v we_o unto_o his_o righteousness_n that_o thereby_o his_o glory_n may_v shine_v in_o us._n and_o according_a to_o this_o holy_a doctrine_n let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o face_n of_o our_o good_a god_n acknowledge_v our_o innumerable_a sin_n by_o which_o we_o continual_o that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o show_v unto_o we_o this_o favour_n and_o grace_n but_o also_o unto_o all_o people_n and_o nation_n of_o the_o earth_n etc._n etc._n the_o three_o sermon_n of_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n gimel_n be_v beneficial_a unto_o thy_o servant_n that_o i_o may_v live_v &_o keep_v thy_o word_n open_v my_o eye_n that_o i_o may_v see_v the_o wondrous_a thing_n there_o be_v which_o think_v upon_o it_o true_a it_o be_v that_o every_o man_n will_v say_v that_o it_o be_v good_a reason_n we_o shall_v do_v homage_n too_o god_n for_o our_o life_n and_o be_v because_o we_o hold_v all_o of_o he_o and_o that_o we_o shall_v glorify_v he_o with_o so_o much_o of_o our_o good_n as_o he_o have_v large_o bestow_v upon_o us._n but_o what_o of_o all_o this_o when_o as_o we_o have_v confess_v that_o it_o be_v but_o to_o show_v our_o ingratitude_n and_o unthankfulness_n and_o yet_o no_o man_n make_v any_o account_n hereof_o loe_o here_o wherefore_o the_o holy_a ghost_n see_v we_o so_o tie_v to_o the_o world_n put_v we_o in_o mind_n too_o what_o end_n we_o live_v here_o as_o here_o david_n make_v this_o request_n to_o god_n too_o obtain_v that_o benefit_n of_o his_o majesty_n that_o he_o night_n live_v and_o keep_v his_o word_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v i_o desire_v
he_o say_v o_o lord_n open_v my_o eye_n that_o i_o may_v see_v the_o wondrous_a thing_n of_o thy_o law_n wherefore_o use_v he_o this_o word_n wondrous_a it_o be_v as_o if_o he_o will_v have_v save_o before_o contain_v in_o the_o law_n only_o these_o be_v dark_a shadow_n than_o they_o be_v which_o be_v since_o the_o come_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o there_o be_v no_o change_n or_o alteration_n in_o this_o wisdom_n as_o god_n also_o be_v not_o mutable_a 1.12_o ephes_n 3.10_o 1._o pet._n 1.12_o it_o be_v not_o then_o without_o cause_n that_o all_o the_o holy_a scripture_n be_v call_v wisdom_n and_o that_o the_o angel_n of_o heaven_n themselves_o do_v wonder_v thereat_o if_o then_o the_o angel_n be_v astoyn_v at_o the_o secret_n contain_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n i_o beseech_v you_o tell_v i_o what_o reverence_n deserve_v it_o to_o have_v among_o we_o mortal_a man_n for_o we_o be_v but_o poor_a worm_n upon_o earth_n creep_v here_o below_o david_n that_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n be_v not_o as_o we_o take_v it_o to_o be_v to_o wit_n a_o thing_n of_o small_a valour_n or_o a_o common_a and_o ordinary_a doctrine_n but_o a_o wonderful_a wisdom_n wherein_o be_v such_o secret_n as_o aught_o to_o ravish_v we_o with_o admiration_n because_o they_o far_o surpass_v our_o wit_n and_o reason_n but_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o we_o so_o light_o esteem_v of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n that_o be_v to_o say_v his_o whole_a word_n herein_o the_o common_a proverb_n be_v verify_v when_o we_o say_v a_o fool_n regard_v nothing_o which_o proverb_n we_o declare_v to_o be_v right_o verify_v in_o we_o for_o many_o of_o we_o make_v no_o estimation_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n &_o it_o seem_v to_o we_o that_o that_o god_n call_v and_o allure_v they_o and_o do_v also_o understand_v and_o know_v the_o large_a and_o sweet_a promise_n offer_v unto_o they_o therein_o such_o i_o say_v will_v say_v with_o david_n o_o mean_v to_o confirm_v the_o matter_n which_o before_o he_o touch_v that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o he_o desire_v not_o simple_o to_o live_v as_o if_o his_o life_n have_v be_v dear_a and_o precious_a unto_o he_o without_o any_o other_o respect_n but_o he_o have_v a_o further_a meaning_n for_o he_o say_v by_o a_o by_o after_o i_o be_o a_o stranger_n in_o the_o world_n therefore_o hide_v not_o thy_o commandment_n from_o i_o they_o which_o make_v their_o continual_a nest_n here_o according_a to_o their_o own_o fancy_n and_o think_v to_o make_v their_o heaven_n in_o this_o world_n these_o man_n i_o say_v have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n for_o their_o salvation_n for_o they_o be_v safe_a enough_o if_o they_o may_v eat_v and_o drink_v to_o be_v glut_v that_o they_o may_v take_v their_o pleasure_n and_o delight_n that_o they_o may_v be_v honour_v that_o they_o may_v be_v in_o estimation_n and_o credit_n lo_o here_o be_v all_o that_o they_o desire_v or_o wish_v to_o have_v yea_o forsooth_o for_o they_o look_v no_o further_o but_o to_o this_o corruptible_a and_o transitory_a life_n these_o man_n i_o say_v be_v not_o great_o trouble_v ne_o yet_o have_v any_o care_n of_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n but_o when_o as_o they_o shall_v be_v take_v from_o they_o all_o shall_v be_v one_o to_o they_o when_o as_o the_o covetous_a man_n the_o whoremonger_n the_o dronkarde_n the_o ambitious_a person_n shall_v hear_v no_o preach_v of_o the_o word_n at_o all_o neither_o any_o talk_n of_o god_n ne_o yet_o of_o christianity_n nor_o of_o life_n everlasting_a he_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n cease_v not_o to_o pursue_v his_o own_o way_n yea_o and_o it_o be_v to_o they_o a_o loathsome_a and_o unpleasant_a kind_n of_o speech_n to_o hear_v god_n speak_v of_o but_o have_v rather_o have_v no_o mention_n in_o the_o whole_a world_n make_v of_o he_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n why_o david_n require_v not_o to_o have_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n take_v from_o he_o &_o this_o be_v his_o reason_n to_o wit_n because_o he_o be_v a_o stranger_n on_o the_o earth_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v o_o lord_n if_o i_o have_v none_o other_o consideration_n but_o of_o this_o present_a life_n i_o shall_v be_v even_o accurse_v and_o it_o have_v be_v better_o my_o mother_n have_v be_v deliver_v of_o i_o as_o of_o a_o dead_a body_n and_o that_o i_o have_v be_v a_o hundred_o time_n plunge_v in_o hell_n and_o why_o so_o for_o we_o be_v here_o in_o this_o world_n but_o as_o pilgrim_n and_o wayfaring_a man_n and_o we_o pass_v to_o a_o more_o excellent_a life_n as_o to_o that_o also_o wherein_o we_o repose_v our_o whole_a trust_n see_v then_o o_o lord_n that_o i_o be_o a_o stranger_n in_o the_o world_n let_v not_o thy_o commandment_n be_v take_v away_o from_o i_o now_o in_o this_o part_n be_v contain_v a_o very_a profitable_a doctrine_n and_o exhortation_n for_o we_o for_o we_o know_v how_o cold_a we_o be_v where_o in_o deed_n we_o ought_v to_o have_v a_o ardent_a desire_n to_o be_v teach_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o to_o be_v more_o and_o more_o confirm_v therein_o and_o i_o beseech_v you_o how_o careless_a be_v we_o but_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n hereof_o no_o doubt_n of_o it_o we_o must_v always_o even_o search_v and_o look_v into_o the_o depth_n and_o bottom_n of_o this_o corruption_n and_o mischief_n for_o when_o we_o see_v any_o vice_n in_o ourselves_o we_o ought_v to_o inquire_v from_o whence_o the_o cause_n proceed_v to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v find_v remedy_n for_o the_o same_o now_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o we_o be_v blind_a and_o do_v suppose_v our_o abode_n shall_v be_v here_o still_o upon_o earth_n and_o every_o man_n imagine_v himself_o to_o have_v here_o everlasting_a life_n wherefore_o when_o we_o be_v thus_o give_v to_o the_o world_n &_o think_v ourselves_o to_o have_v here_o a_o everlasting_a inheritance_n lo_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o our_o thus_o contemn_v of_o god_n and_o his_o word_n or_o rather_o that_o we_o care_v no_o whit_n at_o all_o for_o the_o seek_v out_o of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o our_o salvation_n what_o must_v we_o then_o do_v forsooth_o we_o must_v look_v a_o great_a deal_n further_o than_o to_o the_o world_n if_o we_o will_v come_v unto_o god_n and_o be_v exercise_v in_o this_o study_n whereof_o mention_n be_v here_o make_v and_o to_o say_v with_o david_n o_o lord_n because_o we_o be_v stranger_n in_o this_o world_n to_o wit_n that_o we_o be_v to_o pass_v here_o only_o &_o that_o nothing_o can_v be_v short_a of_o truth_n he_o mean_v that_o he_o desined_a nothing_o else_o but_o to_o follow_v that_o which_o be_v right_a and_o good_a as_o god_n have_v show_v it_o unto_o he_o when_o he_o say_v that_o he_o cleave_v to_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n he_o declare_v what_o truth_n that_o be_v whereof_o he_o make_v mention_v for_o man_n many_o time_n imagine_v unto_o themselves_o certain_a fantasy_n in_o their_o head_n and_o think_v the_o same_o to_o be_v the_o best_a &_o most_o sure_a foundation_n in_o the_o world_n and_o that_o there_o be_v no_o other_o reason_n truth_n nor_o wisdom_n but_o that_o which_o they_o have_v conceive_v in_o their_o own_o brain_n let_v we_o now_o beware_v of_o that_o and_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o truth_n self_n be_v enclose_v within_o the_o word_n of_o god_n &_o follow_v the_o way_n of_o truth_n now_o when_o david_n have_v make_v all_o these_o protestation_n he_o desire_v that_o he_o may_v be_v confound_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v my_o god_n since_o i_o say_v be_v put_v to_o confusion_n and_o shame_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o when_o we_o shall_v lay_v the_o rain_n of_o the_o bridle_n in_o the_o neck_n of_o all_o our_o desire_n and_o take_v from_o god_n all_o his_o authority_n deserve_v we_o not_o to_o be_v utter_o confound_v no_o doubt_v we_o do_v so_o then_o let_v we_o way_n the_o first_o part_n of_o this_o doctrine_n that_o this_o manner_n so_o beastly_a as_o that_o it_o be_v shame_n to_o see_v their_o brutishness_n and_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n they_o have_v cast_v of_o the_o yoke_n of_o god_n they_o have_v not_o point_v at_o that_o even_o young_a child_n may_v perceive_v their_o beastlynesse_n and_o be_v very_o well_o worthy_a so_o to_o be_v serve_v and_o so_o lest_o we_o fall_v into_o such_o shame_n let_v we_o pray_v with_o david_n that_o it_o will_v please_v god_n to_o make_v we_o so_o too_o stick_v unto_o he_o and_o his_o word_n as_o we_o never_o be_v confound_v now_o too_o conclude_v with_o these_o eight_o verse_n apart_o david_n say_v i_o will_v run_v the_o way_n of_o thy_o comaundement_n when_o thou_o shall_v enlarge_v my_o heart_n when_o he_o say_v that_o when_o god_n have_v set_v his_o heart_n at_o liberty_n he_o will_v run_v it_o be_v too_o show_v unto_o we_o that_o when_o our_o heart_n be_v enclose_v and_o fast_o shut_v up_o that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a so_o much_o as_o too_o remove_v one_o of_o our_o finger_n to_o well_o do_v until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n glad_v we_o and_o show_v we_o a_o merry_a countenance_n now_o david_n in_o this_o first_o place_n declare_v unto_o we_o that_o we_o be_v able_a to_o do_v nothing_o except_o god_n stir_v we_o up_o thereto_o and_o although_o he_o have_v already_o solicit_v &_o admonish_v we_o yet_o that_o be_v not_o all_o we_o shall_v cry_v out_o and_o alas_o &_o pour_v out_o some_o sigh_n and_o groan_n but_o because_o god_n will_v be_v serve_v with_o a_o cheerful_a mind_n and_o not_o with_o a_o evil_a will_n so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v fast_o shut_v up_o we_o can_v once_o stir_v out_o of_o the_o place_n to_o go_v on_o forward_o in_o the_o way_n of_o salvation_n and_o how_o can_v we_o then_o run_v when_o as_o he_o shall_v have_v set_v our_o heart_n at_o liberty_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v so_o dispose_v &_o order_v we_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v free_o bend_v ourselves_o &_o sully_v &_o whole_o yield_v our_o affection_n unto_o he_o for_o otherwise_o we_o have_v our_o heart_n fast_o shut_v up_o shall_v always_o become_v the_o bondslave_n of_o sin_n it_o be_v very_o true_a hat_n while_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n we_o never_o run_v so_o fast_o ne_o yet_o so_o perfect_o as_o be_v require_v yea_o we_o shall_v many_o time_n go_v as_o it_o be_v halt_v where_o in_o deed_n we_o shall_v make_v haste_n but_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o we_o that_o whensoever_o he_o shall_v govern_v we_o with_o his_o spirit_n and_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v under_o the_o conduct_n of_o our_o head_n &_o captain_n jesus_n christ_n we_o may_v say_v with_o david_n that_o we_o do_v not_o only_o walk_v in_o his_o commandment_n but_o that_o we_o also_o run_v in_o they_o yea_o so_o that_o our_o affection_n obey_v he_o and_o too_o glorify_v his_o holy_a name_n and_o according_a to_o this_o doctrine_n let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o face_n of_o our_o good_a god_n in_o acknowledge_v our_o sin_n beseech_v he_o that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o to_o make_v we_o to_o feel_v our_o sin_n and_o iniquity_n more_o and_o more_o &_o that_o it_o will_v also_o please_v he_o to_o make_v we_o so_o to_o remember_v they_o that_o we_o may_v learn_v to_o acknowledge_v how_o necessary_a it_o be_v for_o we_o to_o be_v more_o &_o more_o increase_v &_o confirm_v in_o his_o grace_n which_o he_o bestow_v upon_o we_o to_o the_o end_n that_o in_o allow_v &_o esteem_v of_o his_o benefit_n as_o it_o become_v we_o we_o may_v render_v unto_o he_o our_o humble_a and_o hearty_a thanks_n beseech_v he_o also_o also_o all_o the_o people_n and_o nation_n of_o the_o world_n etc._n etc._n the_o five_o sermon_n of_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n he._n teach_v i_o o_o lord_n the_o way_n of_o thy_o cause_n that_o s._n paul_n call_v it_o the_o root_n of_o all_o evil_a for_o after_o that_o a_o man_n be_v once_o give_v to_o the_o pestilent_a covetousness_n of_o the_o good_n of_o this_o world_n 6.10_o 1._o tim._n 6.10_o he_o make_v a_o idol_n of_o his_o money_n riches_n and_o possession_n he_o be_v so_o violent_o carry_v away_o with_o they_o as_o that_o he_o will_v never_o be_v satisfy_v he_o be_v like_a unto_o a_o bottomless_a depth_n which_o never_o will_v be_v fill_v and_o afterward_o it_o make_v he_o to_o be_v full_a of_o cruelty_n have_v neither_o pity_n nor_o compassion_n of_o his_o neighbour_n make_v neither_o conscience_n nor_o doubt_n to_o fall_v out_o with_o god_n and_o the_o world_n so_o that_o he_o may_v have_v they_o all_o shall_v be_v one_o to_o he_o let_v we_o note_v then_o that_o if_o there_o be_v any_o vice_n which_o hinder_v we_o from_o the_o serve_v of_o god_n this_o be_v it_o to_o wit_n this_o covetous_a desire_n of_o get_v worldly_a good_n now_o david_n after_o he_o have_v speak_v special_o of_o covetousness_n say_v turn_v away_o my_o eye_n from_o behold_v of_o vanitee_n and_o quicken_v i_o in_o thy_o way_n when_o as_o david_n pray_v that_o his_o eye_n may_v be_v turn_v away_o lest_o he_o behold_v vanity_n it_o be_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v alas_o my_o god_n i_o have_v need_v too_o withstand_v a_o thousand_o temptation_n yea_o resist_v and_o go_v out_o against_o they_o and_o so_o since_o we_o have_v enemy_n even_o lurk_v within_o ourselves_o and_o that_o we_o be_v not_o only_o weak_a but_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o weakness_n in_o we_o and_o be_v also_o thrust_v out_o as_o it_o be_v for_o a_o pray_v too_o satan_n when_o we_o shall_v see_v these_o two_o gate_n stand_v so_o wide_o open_a unto_o all_o the_o assault_n wherewith_o he_o assail_v we_o we_o have_v very_o great_a need_n to_o pray_v unto_o god_n after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n to_o turn_v away_o our_o eye_n lest_o they_o behold_v vanity_n let_v we_o then_o understande_v that_o the_o meaning_n of_o david_n be_v to_o declare_v unto_o we_o in_o this_o place_n that_o the_o eye_n of_o man_n be_v always_o bend_v to_o behold_v vanity_n that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o they_o be_v ever_o carry_v away_o to_o all_o evil_a to_o all_o wicked_a concupiscense_v until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n turn_v they_o away_o yea_o and_o our_o eye_n be_v not_o only_a gate_n to_o receive_v all_o evil_a but_o be_v even_o messenger_n also_o as_o if_o the_o gate_n be_v not_o only_o open_a but_o that_o there_o be_v also_o traitor_n within_o to_o give_v intelligence_n to_o instruct_v the_o enemy_n loe_o where_o and_o which_o way_n you_o must_v come_v and_o which_o way_n you_o must_v enter_v even_o so_o be_v it_o with_o our_o eye_n our_o eye_n receive_v on_o the_o one_o side_n the_o enemy_n and_o on_o the_o other_o side_n they_o send_v message_n even_o from_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o heart_n to_o enuenime_n and_o poison_v we_o all_o over_o so_o then_o we_o see_v how_o necessary_a this_o request_n be_v for_o we_o all_o as_o david_n have_v make_v before_o us._n but_o according_a as_o every_o man_n most_o profit_v in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n so_o much_o the_o better_a comprehend_v he_o this_o doctrine_n and_o they_o which_o know_v and_o understande_v lest_o herein_o shall_v be_v they_o which_o will_v presume_v greatly_a of_o their_o own_o power_n and_o strength_n but_o contrariwise_o when_o god_n shall_v have_v give_v and_o liberal_o bestow_v upon_o we_o many_o of_o his_o grace_n it_o shall_v be_v to_o this_o end_n that_o we_o may_v so_o much_o the_o better_o understande_v our_o misery_n and_o calamity_n beseech_v he_o to_o remedy_v the_o same_o and_o too_o make_v provision_n for_o we_o against_o all_o our_o evil_n and_o vice_n now_o he_o add_v quicken_v thou_o i_o in_o thy_o weigh_v as_o in_o the_o end_n he_o say_v quicken_v thou_o i_o in_o thy_o rightuousnesse_n this_o may_v be_v interpret_v two_o manner_n can_v give_v no_o ear_n unto_o god_n or_o else_o that_o which_o enter_v in_o at_o one_o ear_n go_v out_o at_o another_o as_o we_o say_v now_o if_o this_o be_v already_o a_o great_a vice_n in_o we_o to_o be_v so_o slack_a as_o to_o receive_v but_o one_o good_a lesson_n the_o second_o be_v no_o whit_n less_o that_o when_o we_o shall_v have_v get_v even_o a_o very_a little_a it_o shall_v incontinent_a so_o melt_v away_o from_o we_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v never_o think_v more_o of_o it_o we_o see_v how_o jolly_a and_o frisk_a our_o foot_n and_o hand_n be_v when_o as_o we_o hear_v of_o no_o reputation_n yet_o do_v i_o not_o forget_v thy_o commandment_n this_o say_n here_o import_v more_o than_o at_o the_o first_o sight_n it_o seem_v to_o do_v it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o it_o mean_v not_o to_o forget_v his_o commandment_n and_o to_o walk_v in_o his_o fear_n with_o all_o humility_n but_o david_n his_o meaning_n tend_v to_o another_o end_n that_o be_v although_o he_o be_v as_o it_o be_v contemn_v yet_o cease_v he_o not_o to_o love_v god_n now_o as_o i_o have_v say_v this_o be_v not_o here_o set_v down_o without_o cause_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o when_o god_n liberal_o bestow_v upon_o we_o great_a store_n of_o benefit_n then_o be_v we_o so_o blockish_a as_o that_o we_o think_v ourselves_o least_o beholden_a unto_o he_o and_o contrariwise_o they_o upon_o who_o he_o have_v not_o bestow_v such_o grace_n think_v themselves_o for_o their_o part_n not_o so_o great_o bind_v unto_o he_o and_o in_o very_a deed_n the_o world_n will_v always_o find_v start_v hole_n to_o keep_v itself_o out_o from_o the_o service_n
afflict_v we_o so_o that_o we_o be_v grievous_o vex_v until_o we_o can_v no_o more_o loe_o here_o a_o good_a trial_n to_o make_v we_o feel_v that_o we_o have_v willing_o and_o in_o earnest_n honour_v practice_n thereof_o and_o then_o we_o shall_v see_v how_o it_o fare_v with_o us._n for_o it_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o nothing_o too_o lend_v our_o ear_n and_o say_v sure_o this_o be_v a_o very_a little_a fear_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o so_o that_o we_o can_v hold_v the_o favour_n of_o man_n in_o do_v our_o duty_n any_o way_n well_o this_o go_v for_o payment_n but_o if_o there_o blow_v a_o ill_a wind_n and_o that_o we_o perceive_v any_o evil_a practice_n
this_o diversity_n of_o word_n use_v here_o in_o this_o psalm_n by_o david_n be_v not_o superfluous_a for_o it_o show_v we_o that_o the_o law_n of_o god_n do_v hot_a only_o command_v we_o how_o we_o shall_v live_v and_o after_o what_o sort_n but_o do_v also_o certify_v we_o of_o the_o good_a will_n of_o god_n promise_v we_o salvation_n lead_v we_o too_o jesus_n christ_n stir_v we_o up_o too_o call_v upon_o the_o name_n of_o god_n give_v we_o ceremony_n to_o confirm_v we_o therein_o and_o moreover_o that_o it_o guide_v &_o hold_v we_o within_o our_o limit_n and_o sure_o there_o be_v not_o one_o verse_n in_o all_o this_o psalm_n although_o there_o be_v very_o many_o wherein_o there_o be_v not_o mention_v make_v of_o one_o of_o these_o word_n too_o wit_n either_o of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n or_o of_o his_o commandment_n either_o else_o of_o his_o ordinance_n statute_n or_o testimony_n or_o of_o his_o voice_n judgemente_n or_o justice_n these_o word_n be_v here_o so_o many_o time_n repeat_v as_o that_o there_o be_v not_o one_o verse_n but_o that_o there_o be_v one_o or_o sometime_o two_o of_o they_o in_o it_o as_o hereafter_o we_o shall_v see_v throughout_o the_o whole_a psalm_n and_o now_o let_v we_o come_v to_o the_o matter_n herein_o contain_v blessed_n be_v they_o which_o keep_v the_o testimony_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o which_o seek_v he_o with_o their_o whole_a heart_n because_o it_o shall_v be_v no_o great_a ado_n for_o a_o number_n of_o man_n to_o make_v a_o countenance_n of_o seek_v the_o lord_n david_n show_v that_o we_o must_v not_o seek_v he_o with_o our_o with_o two_o face_n in_o one_o hood_n he_o will_v not_o have_v we_o pat_v in_o sunder_o to_o say_v well_o i_o be_o content_v to_o serve_v god_n howbeit_o i_o will_v not_o that_o he_o shall_v require_v my_o whole_a service_n to_o himself_o but_o that_o i_o may_v after_o satisfy_v and_o follow_v my_o own_o lust_n and_o pleasure_n that_o i_o may_v be_v at_o liberty_n to_o serve_v the_o world_n no_o not_o so_o say_v he_o it_o must_v be_v bring_v into_o a_o true_a and_o perfect_a soundness_n and_o not_o to_o divide_v man_n after_o such_o a_o manner_n true_a it_o be_v that_o we_o shall_v never_o heart_n full_a perfection_n but_o only_o oppose_v itself_o against_o the_o hypocrisy_n of_o a_o great_a number_n of_o man_n and_o which_o will_v be_v in_o we_o all_o be_v it_o not_o that_o god_n himself_o do_v remedy_n &_o help_v it_o that_o be_v we_o will_v with_o good_a will_v serve_v god_n by_o half_n if_o so_o be_v he_o will_v let_v we_o alone_o with_o the_o rest_n to_o do_v what_o we_o think_v good_a as_o for_o example_n we_o shall_v have_v very_o many_o which_o will_v not_o stick_v with_o god_n to_o come_v to_o the_o sermon_n on_o a_o sunday_n and_o to_o be_v present_a at_o the_o prayer_n of_o the_o faithful_a and_o to_o make_v some_o show_n of_o religion_n and_o yet_o they_o will_v have_v god_n to_o give_v they_o free_a choice_n to_o do_v what_o they_o list_v at_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o week_n after_o or_o if_o they_o come_v to_o a_o sermon_n often_o than_o on_o the_o sunday_n it_o seem_v to_o they_o that_o they_o have_v do_v very_o well_o that_o they_o be_v thorough_o discharge_v of_o their_o duty_n if_o they_o tarry_v there_o but_o one_o hour_n but_o because_o they_o may_v be_v set_v at_o more_o liberty_n they_o will_v not_o stick_v to_o say_v that_o they_o will_v be_v free_a from_o some_o one_o vice_n one_o will_v say_v that_o he_o will_v be_v no_o whoremaster_n another_o that_o he_o will_v be_v no_o drunkarde_n another_o that_o he_o will_v be_v no_o blasphemer_n &_o yet_o every_o one_o of_o these_o will_v have_v his_o particular_a vice_n and_o think_v that_o god_n ought_v to_o bear_v with_o they_o see_v that_o for_o his_o honour_n and_o to_o do_v he_o pleasure_n they_o abstein_v from_o some_o sin_n and_o that_o they_o obey_v he_o in_o some_o point_n but_o the_o scripture_n tell_v we_o that_o all_o this_o be_v nothing_o but_o that_o every_o one_o ought_v to_o examine_v himself_o thorough_o and_o in_o all_o point_n and_o find_v in_o himself_o any_o thing_n which_o be_v against_o the_o will_n of_o god_n to_o be_v utter_o displease_v therewith_o clere_o to_o renounce_v it_o and_o to_o desire_v nothing_o but_o to_o be_v cleanse_v thereof_o see_v now_o this_o be_v that_o perfection_n whereof_o david_n here_o speak_v all_o the_o disorder_n and_o confusion_n in_o the_o world_n to_o weet_v that_o god_n be_v press_v and_o ready_a to_o guide_v and_o govern_v we_o but_o what_o we_o may_v not_o away_o to_o bear_v his_o yoke_n every_o man_n refuse_v it_o and_o will_v be_v exempt_a from_o it_o loe_o here_o whereupon_o arise_v our_o dissolute_a and_o wanton_a life_n to_o weet_v because_o we_o will_v not_o suffer_v take_v they_o leave_v continual_o to_o follow_v they_o as_o a_o whoremonger_n can_v not_o justify_v his_o wicked_a do_v no_o more_o can_v a_o thief_n a_o swearer_n nor_o a_o drunkard_n and_o yet_o it_o be_v so_o with_o they_o that_o they_o always_o give_v themselves_o leave_v to_o go_v from_o better_a to_o worse_o howbeit_o there_o be_v another_o manner_n of_o way_n of_o evil_n do_v which_o be_v mere_a dagerous_a and_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o to_o be_v fear_v because_o it_o be_v more_o covert_a and_o secret_a to_o weet_v when_o as_o man_n will_v not_o acknowledge_v themselves_o to_o be_v worthy_a of_o commendation_n and_o that_o they_o think_v that_o there_o be_v none_o that_o can_v detect_v or_o condemn_v they_o have_v a_o foolish_a and_o devilish_a opinion_n which_o blind_v their_o eye_n these_o man_n then_o as_o it_o be_v the_o manner_n of_o all_o hypocrite_n may_v well_o justify_v themselves_o but_o yet_o the_o case_n so_o stand_v that_o god_n condemn_v they_o as_o here_o we_o may_v see_v it_o remain_v now_o that_o we_o use_v nothing_o for_o the_o whole_a rule_n and_o order_n of_o our_o life_n but_o the_o law_n of_o god_n alone_o for_o without_o it_o all_o our_o life_n must_v needs_o be_v dissolute_a and_o there_o shall_v be_v nothing_o in_o it_o but_o confusion_n and_o destruction_n it_o follow_v next_o after_o that_o god_n have_v command_v we_o too_o keep_v diligent_o his_o precept_n that_o be_v always_o according_a to_o the_o truth_n which_o david_n hold_v for_o it_o be_v very_o sure_a that_o god_n be_v so_o careful_a over_o our_o salvation_n that_o neither_o his_o profit_n nor_o gain_n lead_v he_o to_o be_v thus_o careful_a doubtless_o he_o respect_v only_o our_o salvation_n by_o this_o we_o may_v conclude_v that_o there_o be_v none_o other_o blessedness_n which_o we_o can_v enjoy_v but_o to_o walk_v in_o his_o law_n as_o he_o have_v before_o say_v but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o we_o may_v see_v how_o villainous_a and_o wicked_a a_o thing_n our_o unthankfulnes_n be_v for_o god_n show_v not_o unto_o we_o only_o in_o a_o word_n what_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o do_v but_o use_v also_o a_o familiar_a &_o gentle_a doctrine_n to_o draw_v we_o unto_o he_o and_o afterward_o he_o exhort_v we_o because_o he_o see_v we_o to_o be_v very_o cold_a and_o untoward_a and_o for_o the_o selfsame_o cause_n he_o use_v much_o diversity_n and_o pursue_v it_o diligent_o as_o we_o see_v to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v pretend_v no_o excuse_n of_o ignorance_n when_o we_o have_v nor_o perform_v that_o which_o he_o have_v set_v down_o unto_o we_o
