in_o they_o without_o repentance_n be_v the_o thing_n that_o bring_v damnation_n for_o as_o in_o the_o militant_a church_n man_n be_v excommunicate_a not_o so_o much_o for_o their_o offence_n as_o for_o their_o obstinacy_n so_o shall_v it_o be_v in_o the_o church_n triumphant_a the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n shall_v be_v bar_v against_o man_n not_o so_o much_o for_o their_o sin_n commit_v as_o difference_n of_o sin_n before_o name_v with_o their_o several_a branch_n and_o infinite_a many_o more_o that_o can_v be_v rehearse_v this_o must_v move_v we_o humble_o to_o sue_v unto_o god_n &_o earnest_o to_o entreat_v he_o to_o wash_v we_o thorough_o from_o our_o wickedness_n &_o cleanse_v we_o from_o our_o sin_n yea_o to_o purge_v and_o to_o rinse_v the_o fountain_n thereof_o our_o unclean_a and_o pollute_a heart_n and_o when_o by_o god_n mercy_n in_o christ_n apprehend_v by_o faith_n our_o heart_n shall_v be_v purify_v then_o to_o set_v watch_n &_o ward_n â—_o over_o they_o in_o god_n now_o the_o degree_n thereof_o be_v these_o there_o be_v a_o general_a or_o natural_a goodness_n in_o creature_n and_o a_o more_o special_a or_o moral_a goodness_n general_n goodness_n be_v that_o whereby_o all_o creature_n be_v accept_v and_o approve_v of_o god_n by_o who_o they_o be_v both_o create_v and_o ordain_v thus_o every_o creature_n be_v good_a partly_o by_o creation_n and_o with_o all_o their_o event_n be_v good_a by_o the_o same_o general_a goodness_n also_o even_o the_o devil_n himself_o and_o his_o action_n as_o he_o be_v a_o substance_n and_o as_o they_o be_v action_n have_v their_o be_v from_o god_n be_v good_a thing_n again_o do_v take_v unto_o they_o the_o condition_n of_o goodness_n not_o only_o by_o creation_n but_o also_o by_o god_n ordination_n all_o the_o virtue_n of_o the_o heathen_a moral_o good_a in_o themselves_o but_o they_o be_v not_o good_a in_o heathen_a man_n for_o in_o they_o they_o be_v but_o peccâ—â—â—_n beautiful_a sin_n the_o next_o degree_n of_o goodness_n be_v whereby_o thing_n and_o action_n be_v both_o good_a in_o themselves_o and_o in_o the_o doer_n also_o of_o this_o sort_n be_v the_o prayer_n &_o alm_n of_o cornelius_n good_a in_o themselves_o 1â—_n &_o in_o he_o also_o because_o he_o be_v a_o believer_n now_o opposite_a to_o thing_n and_o actonis_fw-la moral_o good_a or_o evil_n be_v action_n and_o thing_n of_o a_o middle_a nature_n common_o term_v indifferent_a which_o in_o themselves_o be_v neither_o good_a nor_o evil_n may_v be_v do_v or_o not_o do_v without_o sin_n in_o themselves_o i_o say_v for_o in_o their_o circumstance_n they_o be_v and_o may_v be_v make_v either_o evil_a or_o good_a and_o here_o we_o must_v remember_v to_o put_v a_o difference_n between_o conveniency_n and_o inconvenience_n which_o arise_v from_o the_o nature_n of_o indifferent_a thing_n conveniency_n be_v when_o a_o thing_n or_o action_n be_v so_o fit_v to_o the_o circumstance_n and_o the_o circumstance_n fit_v to_o it_o that_o thereby_o it_o become_v a_o thing_n convenient_a on_o the_o otherside_n inconvenience_n be_v when_o the_o thing_n or_o action_n be_v do_v in_o unmeete_a circumstance_n which_o bring_v some_o hurt_n or_o loss_n to_o the_o outward_a man_n or_o stand_v not_o with_o decency_n and_o therefore_o do_v make_v it_o to_o be_v inconvenient_a and_o by_o this_o that_o have_v be_v say_v we_o may_v discern_v when_o a_o action_n be_v good_a evil_a indifferent_a convenient_a or_o inconvenient_a the_o three_o ground_n be_v touch_v the_o degree_n or_o difference_n either_o of_o the_o substance_n or_o of_o the_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o body_n but_o the_o want_n of_o the_o three_o thing_n before_o name_v &_o that_o be_v conformity_n or_o correspondency_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o regard_n of_o obedience_n but_o some_o may_v say_v the_o want_n of_o conformity_n in_o the_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v not_o sin_n proper_o because_o in_o sin_n there_o must_v be_v not_o only_o a_o absence_n of_o goodness_n but_o a_o habit_n or_o presence_n of_o evil_a i_o answer_v that_o this_o very_a want_n of_o conformity_n be_v not_o only_o the_o absence_n of_o goodness_n but_o also_o the_o habit_n or_o presence_n of_o evil_a for_o as_o this_o want_n enter_v in_o and_o be_v receive_v into_o man_n nature_n it_o be_v proper_o a_o want_n or_o absence_n of_o goodness_n again_o after_o it_o be_v receive_v into_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n it_o continue_v and_o abide_v in_o the_o power_n and_o faculty_n thereof_o and_o so_o it_o carry_v the_o name_n of_o a_o habit_n it_o may_v be_v say_v again_o that_o lust_n and_o concupiscence_n that_o be_v original_a sin_n draw_v the_o heart_n away_o from_o the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o entice_v it_o to_o evil_n now_o to_o entice_v or_o draw_v away_o be_v a_o action_n and_o this_o action_n can_v proceed_v of_o a_o mere_a privation_n or_o want_n ans._n we_o must_v consider_v sin_n two_o way_n first_o joint_o with_o the_o thing_n or_o subject_n in_o which_o it_o be_v second_o by_o itself_o in_o his_o own_o nature_n if_o we_o consider_v it_o with_o his_o subject_n it_o be_v a_o evil_a inclination_n or_o action_n but_o if_o we_o consider_v it_o in_o it_o own_o nature_n it_o be_v no_o inclination_n or_o action_n but_o a_o want_n for_o example_n in_o a_o murder_n we_o must_v consider_v two_o thing_n one_o be_v the_o action_n of_o move_v the_o body_n and_o of_o hold_v up_o the_o weapon_n etc._n etc._n which_o be_v no_o sin_n proper_o if_o it_o be_v consider_v as_o a_o action_n because_o every_o action_n come_v from_o god_n who_o be_v the_o first_o cause_n of_o all_o thing_n and_o action_n again_o in_o murder_n there_o be_v a_o second_o thing_n namely_o the_o kill_a or_o slay_v of_o the_o man_n which_o be_v the_o disorder_n or_o aberration_n in_o the_o action_n whereby_o it_o be_v dispose_v to_o a_o wrong_a use_n and_o end_n and_o thus_o the_o action_n be_v a_o sin_n namely_o in_o respect_n it_o want_v conformity_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n the_o nature_n then_o of_o the_o sin_n lie_v not_o in_o the_o action_n but_o in_o the_o manner_n of_o do_v the_o action_n and_o sin_n proper_o be_v nothing_o formal_o subsist_v or_o exist_v for_o then_o god_n shall_v be_v the_o author_n of_o it_o in_o as_o much_o as_o he_o be_v the_o creator_n and_o ordainer_n of_o every_o thing_n and_o action_n
all_o his_o particular_a sin_n which_o he_o know_v by_o himself_o there_o shall_v yet_o remain_v some_o unknown_a sin_n of_o which_o he_o can_v have_v a_o particular_a repentance_n and_o yet_o they_o be_v not_o impute_v but_o pardon_v when_o there_o be_v repentance_n for_o know_a sin_n as_o for_o example_n david_n repent_v of_o his_o murder_n and_o adultery_n and_o yet_o afterward_o err_v in_o judgement_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o corruption_n of_o the_o time_n he_o live_v to_o his_o death_n in_o the_o sin_n of_o polygamy_n without_o any_o particular_a repentance_n that_o we_o hear_v of_o in_o like_a manner_n do_v the_o patriarch_n who_o may_v not_o altogether_o be_v excuse_v yet_o they_o be_v not_o condemn_v therefore_o neither_o be_v they_o save_v without_o repentance_n for_o this_o sin_n but_o god_n in_o mercy_n accept_v a_o general_a repentance_n for_o the_o same_o and_o the_o like_a be_v the_o case_n of_o all_o the_o elect_n in_o regard_n of_o their_o secret_a and_o hide_a
