work_n be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v in_o opposition_n to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n but_o to_o rejoice_v in_o what_o be_v sinful_a or_o unsuitable_a for_o reasonable_a creature_n and_o mar_v a_o man_n as_o he_o yet_o consider_v the_o event_n his_o fearful_a fall_n from_o god_n and_o what_o himself_n intimat_n in_o the_o follow_a word_n of_o the_o excess_n of_o his_o delight_n in_o these_o thing_n for_o 10._o and_o what_o the_o lord_n seem_v sharp_o to_o insinuate_v to_o he_o immediate_o after_o the_o finish_n of_o these_o great_a work_n not_o only_o of_o hazard_n but_o of_o a_o inclination_n in_o he_o to_o abuse_v all_o 1_o kin._n 9_o 6._o it_o be_v not_o unsafe_a to_o think_v that_o his_o estrangement_n and_o defection_n from_o the_o lord_n have_v its_o rise_n from_o the_o excess_n of_o his_o delight_n in_o the_o thing_n here_o mention_v and_o that_o while_o he_o be_v employ_v about_o they_o as_o he_o here_o relate_v his_o defection_n have_v be_v already_o begin_v upon_o his_o spirit_n as_o be_v hint_v before_o hence_o learn_v 1._o there_o be_v in_o the_o best_a such_o imperfection_n of_o love_n to_o god_n and_o such_o strength_n of_o love_n to_o themselves_o that_o though_o they_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o frequent_a exhortation_n incouragment_n and_o threaten_n to_o put_v they_o to_o that_o work_n which_o concern_v god_n glory_n and_o their_o own_o spiritual_a good_a yet_o will_v they_o free_o and_o of_o their_o own_o accord_n without_o these_o set_v about_o other_o work_n for_o their_o own_o pleasure_n and_o satisfaction_n which_o will_v take_v they_o long_o time_n more_o pain_n and_o expense_n for_o even_o solomon_n behove_v to_o be_v press_v by_o frequent_a charge_n and_o manifold_a incouragment_n to_o the_o work_n of_o building_n of_o the_o temple_n 1_o chron._n 22_o 6.11.16_o for_o which_o many_o material_n and_o workman_n also_o be_v provide_v to_o his_o hand_n and_o yet_o without_o any_o of_o these_o he_o be_v of_o his_o own_o accord_n forward_o enough_o to_o make_v great_a work_n for_o himself_o one_o whereof_o to_o wit_n his_o own_o house_n do_v take_v he_o much_o more_o time_n and_o probable_o much_o more_o expense_n than_o the_o build_n of_o the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o this_o his_o forwardness_n in_o these_o work_n that_o be_v for_o himself_o only_o and_o his_o eye_v of_o himself_o too_o much_o in_o make_v of_o they_o be_v insinuate_v in_o this_o word_n to_o i_o so_o oft_o repeat_v in_o the_o original_a i_o make_v to_o i_o great_a work_n and_o i_o build_v to_o i_o house_n etc._n etc._n 2._o the_o lord_n have_v wise_o hedge_v about_o earthly_a pleasure_n with_o much_o toil_n and_o pain_n and_o have_v make_v the_o attain_n of_o they_o very_o difficult_a so_o that_o a_o man_n shall_v spend_v a_o great_a part_n of_o his_o time_n and_o strength_n before_o he_o come_v to_o enjoy_v that_o measure_n of_o they_o wherein_o with_o any_o show_n of_o reason_n he_o can_v expect_v the_o least_o satisfaction_n and_o this_o he_o have_v do_v that_o man_n who_o can_v promise_v but_o little_a time_n to_o himself_o or_o strength_n to_o pursue_v these_o earthly_a delight_n may_v despair_v of_o find_v satisfaction_n in_o they_o and_o so_o may_v be_v move_v to_o inquire_v whether_o there_o be_v not_o a_o short_a cut_n to_o happiness_n and_o may_v betake_v himself_o to_o the_o study_n of_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o fellowship_n with_o he_o wherein_o he_o may_v be_v sure_a to_o find_v true_a pleasure_n and_o may_v come_v at_o the_o same_o soon_o an_o with_o less_o pain_n for_o solomon_n who_o have_v as_o much_o use_n of_o his_o wit_n as_o any_o that_o shall_v come_v after_o he_o eccl._n 2_o 12._o have_v propose_v pleasure_n to_o himself_o he_o tell_v here_o and_o with_o this_o consideration_n the_o believe_a soul_n shall_v comfort_v itself_o against_o injustice_n from_o man_n as_o here_o solomon_n do_v and_o teach_v other_o by_o his_o example_n to_o do_v the_o same_o i_o say_v in_o my_o heart_n god_n shall_v judge_v the_o righteous_a and_o the_o wicked_a 3._o though_o the_o particular_a time_n of_o the_o last_o judgement_n be_v unknown_a to_o man_n be_v subject_a to_o he_o say_v i_o return_v again_o and_o see_v vanity_n under_o the_o sun_n 2._o the_o lord_n be_v public_a messenger_n must_v not_o only_o point_v out_o the_o way_n to_o true_a blessedness_n and_o the_o privilege_n of_o those_o who_o take_v themselves_o to_o it_o but_o must_v trace_v the_o several_a way_n that_o satan_n and_o man_n corruption_n do_v put_v they_o upon_o to_o to_o one_o black_a end_n yet_o be_v they_o very_o far_o different_a one_o from_o another_o some_o of_o they_o be_v upon_o one_o extreme_a some_o upon_o another_o so_o that_o man_n have_v no_o ground_n to_o please_v themselves_o if_o they_o be_v out_o of_o god_n way_n though_o they_o be_v not_o walk_v in_o the_o way_n that_o other_o be_v in_o as_o they_o be_v ready_a to_o do_v luk._n 18.11_o see_v there_o be_v more_o way_n to_o hell_n than_o one_o or_o two_o for_o in_o the_o former_a word_n solomon_n describe_v one_o man_n go_v to_o hell_n with_o his_o hand_n fold_v and_o do_v nothing_o here_o all_o his_o labour_n it_o be_v import_v that_o if_o he_o have_v have_v these_o relation_n he_o have_v be_v less_o guilty_a than_o now_o while_o he_o have_v neither_o child_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o there_o be_v no_o end_n of_o all_o his_o labour_n 5._o when_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o providence_n so_o order_v that_o man_n of_o great_a substance_n and_o riches_n in_o the_o world_n have_v few_o or_o none_o of_o near_a relation_n to_o they_o to_o who_o they_o may_v leave_v the_o same_o it_o shall_v much_o abate_v their_o earnestness_n in_o the_o pursuit_n of_o these_o thing_n and_o make_v they_o bestow_v more_o of_o their_o time_n and_o labour_n about_o thing_n spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a and_o think_v of_o employ_v their_o wealth_n for_o the_o poor_a and_o other_o pious_a uses_n to_o have_v very_o great_a confidence_n of_o success_n which_o sometime_o much_o advance_v it_o and_o never_o so_o great_a desire_n and_o fix_a purpose_n of_o heart_n to_o grow_v in_o knowledge_n he_o must_v if_o he_o know_v himself_o aright_o after_o all_o his_o pain_n be_v humble_v in_o the_o sense_n of_o his_o short-coming_a and_o when_o he_o have_v sound_v deep_a by_o his_o wit_n whether_o
