have_v take_v he_o away_o this_o desolate_a princess_n not_o know_v how_o to_o pull_v the_o thorn_n of_o her_o sorrow_n out_o ofher_o soul_n she_o cause_v his_o body_n to_o be_v reduce_v to_o ash_n life_n but_o this_o discourse_n of_o the_o platonician_o presuppose_v a_o equal_a correspondency_n in_o love_n without_o the_o which_o they_o maintain_v that_o this_o passion_n be_v full_a of_o despair_n &_o leave_v nothing_o in_o our_o soul_n but_o importune_a and_o troublesome_a thorn_n wherefore_o the_o ancient_n say_v that_o to_o make_v love_n grow_v she_o have_v need_n of_o a_o the_o contemplation_n and_o enjoy_n of_o the_o thing_n belove_v suffer_v himself_o to_o be_v so_o transport_v with_o this_o content_n as_o the_o soul_n remain_v as_o it_o be_v quench_v and_o without_o motion_n the_o which_o may_v also_o proceed_v from_o a_o more_o powerful_a cause_n that_o be_v to_o say_v either_o from_o god_n or_o from_o evil_a spirit_n which_o sometime_o stir_v up_o these_o ravishment_n and_o extraordinary_a ecstasy_n second_o we_o may_v consider_v these_o ecstasy_n &_o ravishment_n as_o a_o kind_n of_o madness_n which_o transport_v they_o that_o love_n and_o make_v they_o to_o commit_v many_o folly_n wherefore_o a_o ancient_n say_v that_o jupiter_n himself_o can_v not_o be_v wise_a and_o love_n at_o one_o instant_n these_o ecstasy_n and_o ravishment_n produce_v sometime_o prodigious_a effect_n in_o their_o soul_n that_o be_v afflict_v with_o this_o passion_n for_o that_o his_o soul_n that_o love_v entire_o be_v perpetual_o employ_v in_o the_o contemplation_n of_o the_o party_n belove_v and_o have_v no_o other_o thought_n but_o of_o his_o merit_n the_o heat_n abandon_v the_o part_n and_o retire_v into_o the_o brain_n leave_v the_o whole_a body_n in_o great_a distemperature_n which_o corrupt_v and_o consume_v the_o whole_a blood_n make_v the_o face_n grow_v pale_a &_o win_v cause_v
affect_v it_o and_o seek_v it_o yet_o have_v a_o desire_n it_o import_v not_o whether_o the_o knowledge_n be_v precise_o in_o themselves_o or_o that_o some_o other_o cause_n supply_v this_o defect_n and_o insinuate_v itself_o into_o this_o action_n to_o guide_v it_o the_o reason_n whereof_o be_v that_o although_o they_o be_v deprive_v of_o knowledge_n yet_o it_o hinder_v not_o the_o force_n of_o their_o motion_n for_o that_o they_o be_v unite_v to_o that_o great_a intelligence_n which_o know_v all_o thing_n and_o can_v err_v in_o her_o knowledge_n but_o guide_v all_o the_o natural_a cause_n to_o their_o end_n by_o her_o wise_a providence_n but_o these_o thing_n have_v always_o need_v of_o knowledge_n and_o desire_n to_o put_v they_o into_o action_n although_o that_o in_o regard_n of_o knowledge_n it_o be_v not_o absolute_o necessary_a it_o reside_v in_o they_o but_o it_o suffice_v that_o it_o be_v impart_v unto_o they_o by_o the_o influence_n and_o assistance_n of_o a_o more_o eminent_a cause_n as_o for_o those_o which_o have_v life_n it_o may_v be_v plain_o observe_v in_o the_o course_n of_o their_o life_n but_o we_o must_v remember_v that_o the_o soul_n be_v the_o form_n of_o live_a thing_n and_o natural_a form_n have_v this_o in_o particular_a that_o the_o more_o noble_a contain_v the_o perfection_n of_o that_o which_o be_v less_o noble_a as_o a_o quadrangle_n comprehende_v with_o a_o certain_a eminency_n all_o that_o enter_v into_o the_o composition_n of_o a_o triangle_n and_o as_o the_o form_n of_o beast_n contain_v the_o form_n of_o the_o element_n it_o follow_v that_o there_o be_v three_o degree_n of_o soul_n that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o which_o give_v life_n which_o be_v the_o less_o perfect_a that_o which_o give_v sense_n which_o be_v the_o second_o rank_n and_o the_o reasonable_a which_o be_v the_o noble_a of_o all_o this_o reasonable_a soul_n which_o be_v peculiar_a only_o to_o man_n contain_v all_o the_o power_n and_o perfection_n of_o the_o other_o and_o can_v effect_v as_o much_o as_o all_o the_o rest_n together_o by_o reason_n whereof_o man_n have_v a_o vegetative_a soul_n which_o be_v common_a with_o plant_n he_o have_v the_o sensitive_a which_o he_o have_v common_a with_o bruit_n hest_n but_o he_o alone_o be_v in_o possession_n of_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n whereby_o he_o have_v nothing_o common_a with_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o creature_n after_o this_o either_o of_o these_o soul_n have_v a_o number_n of_o power_n befit_v the_o operation_n which_o must_v arise_v the_o power_n of_o the_o vegetative_a soul_n philosopher_n assign_v unto_o they_o moreover_o there_o be_v a_o power_n which_o be_v as_o it_o be_v the_o queen_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n to_o who_o command_n and_o conduct_v they_o refer_v all_o their_o action_n and_o that_o be_v the_o power_n of_o the_o natural_a appetite_n the_o which_o as_o we_o have_v say_v be_v one_o of_o those_o two_o thing_n necessary_a to_o accomplish_v the_o action_n of_o nature_n according_a unto_o these_o law_n we_o see_v that_o the_o power_n we_o call_v attractive_a draw_v the_o nourishment_n unto_o she_o for_o that_o the_o natural_a appetite_n do_v press_v and_o command_v she_o and_o in_o like_a manner_n the_o power_n which_o they_o call_v expulsive_a do_v cast_v forth_o and_o expel_v those_o thing_n which_o the_o same_o natural_a appetite_n do_v abhor_v and_o so_o of_o the_o other_o power_n which_o be_v ordain_v to_o diverse_a end_n but_o for_o that_o the_o appetite_n which_o be_v blind_a and_o void_a of_o all_o knowledge_n be_v not_o sufficient_a in_o vegetative_a thing_n to_o exercise_v their_o action_n but_o withal_o it_o be_v requisite_a that_o they_o be_v accompany_v with_o knowledge_n it_o therefore_o happen_v that_o the_o vegetative_a soul_n be_v not_o so_o noble_a that_o among_o all_o her_o power_n there_o be_v not_o any_o one_o endue_v with_o knowledge_n the_o universal_a nature_n which_o provide_v for_o all_o supply_v this_o defect_n and_o conduct_n by_o her_o light_n the_o inclination_n of_o vegetative_a substance_n to_o their_o end_n and_o by_o the_o same_o mean_n guide_v all_o the_o other_o power_n which_o follow_v her_o motion_n in_o their_o action_n so_o as_o nature_n know_v the_o substance_n fit_v and_o proper_a for_o the_o nourishment_n show_v it_o and_o instruct_v the_o natural_a appetite_n and_o ordain_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v draw_v and_o digest_v and_o convert_v into_o nourishment_n for_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o vegetable_a individue_n and_o the_o like_a may_v be_v say_v of_o the_o other_o action_n wherein_o doubtless_o living_n thing_n differ_v not_o much_o from_o those_o that_o have_v no_o life_n and_o we_o must_v not_o object_v that_o plant_n seem_v to_o be_v endue_v with_o knowledge_n for_o that_o they_o can_v distinguish_v a_o juicâ—_n which_o be_v proper_a for_o they_o from_o that_o which_o be_v pernicious_a the_o which_o seem_v to_o be_v a_o mark_n of_o â—_z yet_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o vegetative_a soul_n be_v too_o earthly_a to_o be_v fit_a for_o the_o function_n of_o the_o sense_n which_o require_v othâ—â—_n organ_n than_o those_o of_o the_o plant_n and_o therefore_o although_o they_o draw_v unto_o they_o good_a juice_n and_o reject_v the_o bad_a it_o proceed_v not_o from_o any_o knowledge_n wherewith_o they_o be_v endue_v but_o from_o their_o natural_a virtue_n and_o property_n guide_v by_o that_o sovereign_a intelligence_n which_o disperse_v her_o care_n over_o all_o the_o creature_n how_o base_a and_o abject_a soever_o and_o it_o be_v also_o by_o her_o motion_n that_o the_o same_o plant_n fly_v their_o contrary_n as_o the_o vine_n shun_v the_o bay_a tree_n and_o that_o they_o show_v such_o grace_n &_o beauty_n in_o their_o work_n as_o we_o see_v in_o the_o spring_n time_n so_o as_o all_o these_o thing_n bind_v we_o not_o to_o believe_v that_o they_o be_v endue_v with_o fall_a sickness_n have_v any_o sign_n or_o beginning_n of_o their_o fit_n retire_v themselves_o sudden_o and_o take_v all_o the_o remedy_n which_o may_v divert_v so_o troublesome_a a_o accident_n or_o
