satisfy_v use_v 4_o ourselves_o with_o the_o discovery_n he_o have_v make_v and_o let_v we_o not_o attempt_v or_o undertake_v to_o know_v more_o of_o the_o father_n than_o he_o have_v make_v know_v reveal_v in_o the_o word_n but_o to_o clear_v those_o to_o we_o if_o any_o spirit_n bring_v we_o any_o thing_n cross_v with_o or_o but_o so_o much_o as_o diverse_a from_o the_o scripture_n if_o a_o angel_n drop_v from_o heaven_n teach_v we_o any_o other_o doctrine_n he_o must_v not_o be_v believe_v but_o accurse_v to_o the_o law_n and_o to_o the_o testimony_n say_v the_o prophet_n isa_n 8.20_o darkness_n of_o those_o age_n which_o they_o live_v in_o and_o true_o there_o be_v many_o in_o these_o day_n of_o we_o who_o spend_v their_o time_n and_o thought_n on_o idle_a question_n and_o dispute_v about_o word_n and_o be_v extreme_o vain_a in_o their_o imagination_n and_o so_o be_v hinder_v from_o study_v weighty_a thing_n and_o matter_n absolute_o necessary_a to_o salvation_n 3._o the_o vainglorious_a teacher_n who_o stuff_v his_o sermon_n to_o the_o people_n with_o nothing_o else_o almost_o but_o humane_a learning_n as_o if_o that_o which_o christ_n have_v teach_v we_o will_v not_o yield_v sufficient_a matter_n to_o deliver_v to_o the_o people_n it_o be_v true_a my_o brethren_n there_o may_v be_v in_o preach_v a_o lawful_a use_n of_o secular_a learning_n but_o not_o a_o lawful_a ostentation_n of_o it_o use_v it_o we_o may_v so_o far_o as_o it_o illustrate_v any_o thing_n of_o christ_n and_o help_v we_o to_o the_o clear_a explication_n or_o better_a application_n of_o it_o to_o the_o hearer_n but_o if_o we_o preach_v ourselves_o and_o not_o christ_n if_o we_o lie_v aside_o the_o perfect_a and_o the_o precious_a doctrine_n which_o he_o have_v deliver_v to_o we_o and_o study_v nothing_o else_o but_o how_o to_o vent_v our_o own_o wit_n our_o own_o learning_n our_o own_o fancy_n this_o be_v dangerous_a to_o ourselves_o and_o pernicious_a to_o the_o people_n
