some_o affliction_n or_o other_o that_o they_o may_v enter_v into_o themselves_o and_o correct_v what_o be_v amiss_o sometime_o i_o permit_v one_o whole_a order_n of_o religion_n to_o be_v afflict_v to_o differ_v nothing_o from_o a_o fool_n and_o mad_a man_n &_o from_o a_o beast_n possess_v by_o the_o devil_n 3._o anger_n when_o it_o once_o get_v possession_n and_o command_v of_o the_o mind_n first_o of_o all_o it_o effect_v that_o the_o anger_v person_n remember_v neither_o god_n nor_o his_o own_o conscience_n it_o deprive_v the_o mind_n of_o all_o judgement_n that_o be_v of_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o mind_n whence_o blind_v it_o be_v drive_v into_o sundry_a error_n and_o fall_n in_o the_o body_n it_o take_v away_o the_o equal_a temper_n and_o good_a proportion_n of_o humour_n and_o give_v cause_n to_o sundry_a disease_n moreover_o it_o hurt_v our_o neighbour_n for_o the_o bad_a example_n to_o be_v short_a a_o angry_a man_n life_n be_v most_o unhappy_a not_o only_o because_o none_o willing_o â—reateth_v with_o he_o but_o also_o for_o that_o he_o will_v have_v all_o thing_n do_v after_o his_o own_o manner_n a_o thing_n that_o can_v be_v endure_v whereupon_o when_o a_o evil_n who_o nature_n and_o first_o office_n be_v to_o moderate_v and_o stay_v the_o intemperance_n of_o anger_n and_o to_o restrain_v all_o other_o perturbation_n arise_v of_o it_o first_o of_o all_o therefore_o it_o repress_v and_o mittigate_v the_o violence_n &_o fury_n of_o anger_n next_o it_o draw_v the_o appetite_n of_o revenge_n to_o the_o rule_n of_o right_a reason_n for_o as_o much_o as_o in_o the_o angry_a it_o be_v wont_a to_o transgress_v and_o go_v beyond_o the_o bound_n of_o moderation_n meekness_n in_o like_a manner_n conserve_v all_o the_o faculty_n of_o the_o mind_n every_o convenient_a that_o thou_o shall_v love_v it_o and_o labour_n with_o all_o diligence_n to_o make_v thyself_o possess_v of_o it_o neither_o let_v it_o seem_v any_o painful_a matter_n unto_o thou_o to_o because_o the_o devil_n take_v more_o pain_n in_o overthrow_v of_o one_o servant_n of_o i_o they_o of_o many_o secular_a person_n the_o same_o enemy_n also_o that_o be_v the_o passion_n and_o perturbation_n of_o the_o mind_n when_o they_o be_v not_o mortify_v do_v give_v the_o religious_a very_o sore_a wound_n and_o therefore_o they_o need_v a_o strong_a and_o sure_a buckler_n for_o the_o receive_n of_o so_o many_o of_o the_o enemy_n blow_n and_o this_o shield_n be_v meekness_n which_o no_o enemy_n force_n can_v possible_o break_v but_o go_v away_o with_o the_o victory_n by_o receive_v their_o blow_n thereon_o it_o cause_v the_o meek_a also_o in_o all_o his_o adversity_n and_o cross_n to_o place_v great_a confidence_n in_o i_o and_o therefore_o while_o he_o continue_v with_o a_o stout_a &_o undaunted_a courage_n he_o do_v not_o easy_o give_v way_n nor_o in_o prosperity_n please_v himself_o overmuch_o and_o this_o be_v to_o hold_v the_o place_n of_o a_o shield_n not_o only_o religious_a person_n their_o parent_n by_o they_o leave_v in_o the_o world_n have_v lay_v a_o side_n all_o care_n and_o memory_n of_o they_o while_o they_o again_o be_v day_n and_o night_n solicitous_a and_o anxious_a about_o they_o 5._o neither_o do_v those_o religious_a less_o offend_v i_o who_o do_v not_o only_o wish_v but_o also_o by_o all_o manner_n of_o diligence_n on_o their_o part_n seek_v to_o raise_v their_o parent_n or_o kin_n to_o great_a dignity_n and_o therefore_o they_o subject_v themselves_o to_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n that_o they_o may_v gain_v and_o win_v penetrate_v and_o enter_v into_o the_o most_o inward_a secret_n of_o the_o hart_n and_o well_o know_v who_o have_v just_a cause_n to_o observe_v it_o and_o who_o not_o 5._o but_o now_o i_o will_v and_o my_o servant_n but_o these_o three_o vow_n many_o secular_a person_n live_v at_o this_o day_n in_o the_o world_n far_o more_o learned_a more_o holy_a and_o more_o perfect_a than_o many_o religious_a and_o yet_o be_v they_o nothing_o so_o much_o honour_v as_o religious_a man_n be_v and_o the_o cause_n be_v because_o they_o be_v not_o tie_v to_o i_o by_o these_o holy_a band_n of_o vow_n secular_a man_n when_o they_o behold_v religious_a person_n do_v consider_v they_o as_o whole_o i_o by_o three_o vow_n consecrate_v to_o i_o &_o what_o honour_n they_o do_v they_o they_o think_v they_o give_v to_o i_o but_o this_o they_o do_v not_o to_o man_n of_o the_o world_n though_o otherwise_o eminent_a for_o their_o virtue_n and_o therefore_o to_o be_v tie_v in_o these_o band_n be_v no_o contemptible_a matter_n but_o most_o honourable_a and_o most_o noble_a even_o to_o the_o world_n since_o the_o religious_a be_v in_o so_o great_a veneration_n with_o the_o great_a man_n of_o the_o world_n 6._o these_o three_o vow_n again_o be_v of_o very_o great_a regard_n for_o that_o they_o cause_v the_o religious_a to_o triumph_v victorious_o and_o to_o go_v away_o with_o victory_n over_o their_o three_o deadly_a enemy_n for_o whil_v they_o exercise_v poverty_n against_o the_o vanity_n of_o the_o world_n chastity_n against_o the_o tentation_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o obedience_n against_o the_o fraud_n of_o the_o crafty_a devil_n they_o go_v easy_o away_o with_o victory_n but_o those_o religious_a who_o use_v not_o these_o kind_n of_o arm_n be_v oftentimes_o shameful_o overcome_v let_v not_o he_o be_v a_o soldier_n who_o will_v not_o take_v a_o weapon_n in_o hand_n neither_o let_v he_o go_v to_o the_o battle_n who_o refuse_v to_o fight_v 7._o and_o now_o tell_v i_o my_o son_n what_o those_o religious_a man_n deserve_v who_o make_v but_o light_a esteem_n of_o so_o holy_a and_o godly_a a_o obligation_n and_o what_o they_o also_o deserve_v who_o keep_v it_o not_o when_o they_o may_v &_o aught_o to_o keep_v it_o what_o punishment_n attend_v they_o who_o do_v not_o only_o break_v it_o but_o further_o contemn_v it_o also_o o_o how_o straight_o a_o account_n be_v they_o to_o make_v not_o only_o of_o their_o own_o transgression_n but_o also_o of_o those_o of_o other_o that_o be_v of_o those_o who_o by_o their_o bad_a example_n be_v induce_v to_o violate_v and_o to_o be_v fear_v least_o in_o conclusion_n see_v it_o be_v very_o weak_a it_o fall_v under_o the_o burden_n and_o more_o than_o this_o there_o be_v so_o many_o obligation_n and_o band_n of_o precept_n commendation_n of_o all_o good_a work_n such_o as_o be_v the_o fall_n of_o a_o stone_n downward_o the_o other_o be_v voluntary_a or_o proceed_v of_o the_o will_n or_o of_o a_o promise_n voluntary_o make_v and_o this_o do_v not_o only_o not_o take_v away_o the_o merit_n of_o the_o good_a work_n but_o also_o much_o increase_v it_o for_o that_o both_o the_o work_n and_o the_o promise_n be_v we_o otherwhiles_o find_v and_o feel_v in_o execute_v our_o promise_n of_o vow_n do_v not_o take_v away_o nor_o diminish_v in_o the_o religious_a their_o merit_n but_o rather_o increase_v it_o for_o in_o fulfil_n our_o vow_n there_o be_v not_o only_o do_v a_o good_a work_n but_o that_o heaviness_n repugnance_n and_o difficulty_n be_v further_o overcome_v which_o indeed_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o to_o the_o mortify_n of_o their_o flesh_n some_o to_o fasting_n other_o to_o discipline_n watch_n and_o to_o other_o affliction_n of_o that_o kind_n know_v that_o they_o be_v the_o preservative_n antidote_n of_o purity_n and_o when_o these_o remedye_n will_v not_o help_v let_v they_o use_v more_o effectual_a whence_o it_o be_v that_o some_o for_o the_o extinguish_n and_o put_v out_o the_o heat_n of_o lust_n do_v cast_v themselves_o into_o most_o freeze_a cold_a water_n some_o into_o snow_n other_o cast_v themselves_o naked_a into_o nettle_n &_o thorn_n some_o do_v burn_v off_o their_o embrace_v this_o course_n of_o life_n without_o fall_v and_o err_v yet_o i_o fall_v &_o err_v so_o often_o as_o i_o be_o ashamed_a of_o it_o in_o somethinge_n i_o make_v overmuch_o have_v in_o other_o i_o be_o over_o slow_a neither_o can_v i_o well_o resolve_v what_o i_o shall_v do_v i_o do_v further_o attempt_v many_o thing_n but_o yet_o with_o a_o unfortunate_a event_n 2._o son_n in_o this_o light_n of_o reason_n shine_v to_o all_o there_o be_v so_o many_o error_n how_o many_o will_v there_o be_v in_o the_o spiritual_a wherein_o there_o be_v both_o less_o light_a &_o understanding_n and_o great_a difficultye_n do_v occur_v 3._o so_o it_o be_v lord_n but_o shall_v we_o continue_v in_o this_o darkness_n deprive_v of_o all_o help_n and_o remedy_n son_n in_o this_o necessity_n the_o difficultye_n let_v every_o religious_a man_n be_v secure_a and_o assure_v that_o i_o will_v faithful_o direct_v he_o in_o the_o way_n that_o shall_v bring_v he_o to_o life_n everlasting_a so_o he_o suffer_v himself_o to_o be_v for_o his_o own_o part_n govern_v and_o bring_v to_o his_o journey_n end_n 4._o all_o religious_a while_o they_o renounce_v the_o world_n begin_v to_o follow_v i_o but_o discontent_n and_o pusill_a animity_n of_o mind_n he_o take_v no_o pleasure_n of_o any_o thing_n at_o all_o and_o whence_o come_v this_o because_o his_o desire_n be_v that_o the_o ship_n shall_v be_v not_o to_o be_v love_v charity_n have_v in_o the_o first_o place_n a_o eye_n to_o i_o and_o for_o that_o cause_n love_v all_o in_o i_o but_o there_o be_v another_o misery_n more_o to_o be_v pity_v that_o some_o do_v therefore_o love_v other_o because_o they_o have_v the_o same_o complexion_n of_o nature_n and_o of_o blood_n with_o they_o this_o be_v not_o charity_n but_o a_o carnal_a occasion_n of_o sin_v another_o while_n by_o give_v they_o hart_n and_o courage_n to_o shake_v off_o tentation_n at_o another_o time_n by_o avert_v their_o desire_n from_o hurtful_a thing_n and_o now_o what_o law_n command_v or_o permit_v that_o evil_o shall_v be_v render_v for_o good_a what_o wild_a beast_n be_v so_o cruel_a that_o will_v go_v about_o to_o hurt_v his_o benefactor_n if_o ingratitude_n alone_o be_v worse_a than_o a_o wild_a beast_n because_o it_o repay_v the_o benefactor_n with_o ill_a if_o the_o forget_v of_o benefit_n be_v a_o thing_n infamous_a and_o worthy_a of_o
