what_o kind_n of_o life_n be_v then_o among_o they_o even_o such_o as_o be_v neither_o peaceable_a and_o quiet_a nor_o honest_a nor_o godly_a the_o one_o be_v of_o the_o levit_n concubine_n abuse_v and_o oppess_v even_o unto_o death_n &_o the_o other_o be_v of_o that_o idolatry_n which_o begin_v in_o the_o house_n of_o micah_n and_o so_o do_v spread_v itself_o over_o the_o whole_a tribe_n of_o dan_n and_o of_o the_o rest_n beside_o that_o the_o levite_n and_o minister_n of_o god_n be_v neglect_v then_o and_o not_o sufficient_o provide_v for_o in_o the_o narration_n of_o which_o this_o be_v often_o interlace_v as_o a_o grave_a sentence_n show_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o that_o disorder_n in_o those_o day_n there_o be_v no_o king_n or_o supreme_a governor_n in_o israel_n and_o so_o every_o in_o the_o death_n of_o the_o prince_n there_o be_v great_a fear_n of_o alteration_n to_o the_o state_n what_o great_a alteration_n be_v there_o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o israel_n when_o his_o son_n rehoboham_n refuse_v the_o ancient_a counsellor_n of_o his_o father_n and_o choose_v new_a in_o their_o room_n like_v to_o himself_o whereupon_o there_o grow_v a_o faction_n and_o division_n first_o among_o the_o noble_n and_o then_o among_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o people_n so_o that_o ten_o part_n of_o his_o people_n fall_v clean_o away_o from_o he_o &_o from_o god_n too_o even_o to_o idolatry_n and_o to_o the_o golden_a calf_n in_o dan_n and_o bethel_n so_o that_o there_o be_v much_o war_n between_o they_o and_o bloodshed_n among_o they_o now_o when_o all_o this_o fall_v out_o how_o do_v they_o see_v by_o experience_n that_o they_o have_v cause_n before_o to_o pray_v for_o the_o life_n of_o solomon_n their_o king_n as_o the_o chief_a and_o only_a cause_n of_o their_o welfare_n and_o joy_n so_o we_o in_o like_a manner_n have_v great_a cause_n in_o this_o respect_n to_o pray_v for_o the_o life_n of_o our_o queen_n as_o we_o do_v to_o preserve_v she_o both_o against_o foreign_a invasion_n intend_v and_o also_o secret_a treason_n and_o practice_n at_o home_n for_o in_o her_o life_n we_o have_v great_a cause_n of_o joy_n and_o in_o all_o deliverance_n of_o she_o from_o danger_n which_o be_v many_o and_o great_a we_o have_v cause_n still_o to_o rejoice_v and_o so_o in_o her_o long_a life_n we_o do_v enjoy_v the_o fruit_n of_o our_o prayer_n for_o we_o do_v so_o we_o have_v not_o the_o mean_n of_o our_o salvation_n and_o may_v not_o thus_o come_v to_o the_o church_n to_o serve_v god_n according_a to_o his_o word_n and_o to_o lead_v our_o life_n thereafter_o and_o if_o we_o have_v these_o yet_o if_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o honesty_n among_o man_n nor_o any_o true_a deal_n one_o with_o another_o so_o that_o one_o man_n may_v not_o trust_v another_o but_o there_o be_v lie_v deceive_a oppression_n and_o such_o like_a without_o controlment_n now_o all_o these_o benefit_n of_o peace_n honesty_n and_o godliness_n we_o have_v by_o the_o mean_n of_o our_o king_n especial_o we_o may_v look_v for_o they_o under_o his_o government_n peaceable_o 1._o as_o to_o live_v peaceable_o for_o as_o for_o foreign_a enemy_n and_o invasion_n which_o in_o former_a time_n we_o have_v be_v in_o fear_n of_o he_o be_v in_o league_n with_o all_o christian_a prince_n round_o about_o he_o so_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o need_v to_o fear_v they_o and_o as_o for_o tumultuous_a and_o disorder_a person_n at_o home_n the_o law_n be_v still_o in_o force_n to_o suppress_v they_o and_o it_o be_v like_o that_o new_a shall_v be_v make_v if_o there_o be_v any_o cause_n and_o though_o some_o do_v break_v out_o in_o hope_n of_o the_o king_n pardon_n yet_o for_o the_o time_n present_a the_o law_n will_v take_v hold_n of_o they_o and_o how_o far_o his_o gracious_a pardon_n will_v extend_v they_o know_v not_o we_o may_v be_v sure_a that_o all_o such_o shall_v be_v exempt_v who_o do_v evil_a before_o hand_n in_o hope_n of_o it_o godly_o 2._o godly_o and_o we_o the_o life_n of_o our_o king_n and_o the_o great_a that_o these_o benefit_n be_v the_o more_o cause_n have_v we_o to_o pray_v for_o his_o life_n by_o who_o next_o under_o god_n we_o look_v to_o have_v they_o continue_v for_o if_o he_o shall_v miscarry_v which_o god_n of_o his_o great_a mercy_n keep_v from_o we_o than_o all_o these_o great_a blessing_n may_v go_v away_o with_o he_o at_o once_o for_o though_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n he_o have_v issue_n of_o his_o own_o body_n lawful_o beget_v in_o holy_a matrimony_n who_o shall_v sit_v in_o the_o throne_n of_o the_o kingdom_n after_o he_o continual_o forget_v they_o so_o if_o the_o minister_n will_v have_v his_o people_n to_o pray_v for_o he_o as_o the_o apostle_n often_o will_v the_o church_n of_o god_n to_o pray_v for_o he_o than_o he_o must_v remember_v public_o and_o private_o to_o pray_v for_o they_o so_o must_v child_n do_v for_o their_o parent_n if_o they_o will_v have_v their_o blessing_n and_o the_o benefit_n of_o their_o prayer_n so_o must_v the_o husband_n do_v for_o the_o wife_n and_o one_o neighbour_n and_o friend_n for_o another_o for_o the_o more_o we_o pray_v for_o they_o the_o more_o shall_v they_o pray_v for_o we_o yea_o though_o they_o know_v not_o at_o all_o that_o we_o pray_v for_o they_o and_o if_o they_o shall_v neglect_v it_o yet_o no_o doubt_n some_o or_o other_o shall_v do_v it_o for_o this_o say_n other_o for_o they_o or_o both_o but_o we_o shall_v have_v little_a comfort_n in_o those_o benefit_n because_o by_o neglect_v to_o pray_v for_o they_o we_o have_v have_v no_o hand_n in_o they_o nay_o we_o shall_v be_v the_o more_o sorry_a that_o so_o great_a thing_n be_v befall_v they_o and_o we_o have_v not_o further_v they_o therein_o as_o we_o may_v and_o as_o we_o be_v desire_v 12.15_o rom._n partly_o by_o our_o mean_n we_o then_o speak_v and_o think_v of_o it_o with_o the_o more_o joy_n and_o comfort_n but_o if_o they_o prevail_v therein_o by_o themselves_o or_o by_o other_o without_o every_o where_o how_o may_v we_o rejoice_v to_o hear_v that_o the_o lord_n diminish_v his_o heavy_a hand_n in_o any_o place_n so_o if_o we_o pray_v for_o seasonable_a weather_n with_o other_o we_o may_v have_v the_o more_o comfort_n in_o it_o when_o the_o lord_n shall_v send_v it_o and_o to_o conclude_v if_o we_o pray_v for_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n 3.1_o 2._o thessaly_n 3.1_o that_o it_o may_v have_v free_a passage_n and_o be_v glorify_v as_o the_o apostle_n will_v and_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v give_v a_o increase_n to_o that_o that_o be_v plant_v and_o water_v from_o time_n to_o time_n then_o how_o may_v it_o rejoice_v our_o heart_n to_o see_v sinner_n convert_v unto_o the_o lord_n or_o any_o good_a to_o be_v do_v thereby_o otherwise_o as_o mordochey_n say_v to_o hester_n if_o she_o do_v not_o help_v 4.14_o hest._n 4.14_o god_n can_v send_v deliverance_n to_o his_o church_n from_o some_o other_o place_n so_o if_o we_o refuse_v to_o pray_v for_o these_o thing_n god_n may_v send_v help_n by_o the_o prayer_n of_o other_o but_o we_o shall_v have_v so_o much_o the_o less_o comfort_n in_o they_o four_o and_o last_o of_o all_o other_o we_o must_v believe_v that_o our_o prayer_n may_v do_v much_o good_a to_o other_o that_o we_o may_v be_v the_o more_o willing_a to_o pray_v for_o other_o we_o must_v be_v persuade_v that_o god_n will_v hear_v we_o for_o they_o and_o that_o this_o way_n we_o shall_v be_v beneficial_a unto_o they_o for_o the_o lord_n will_v bestow_v such_o and_o such_o blessing_n upon_o they_o and_o deliver_v they_o from_o the_o misery_n that_o they_o be_v in_o both_o of_o soul_n and_o body_n at_o our_o prayer_n
rebellion_n attempt_v at_o home_n therefore_o we_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o pray_v for_o the_o life_n of_o our_o king_n and_o the_o rather_o for_o that_o we_o see_v how_o his_o life_n have_v be_v desperate_o seek_v by_o diverse_a as_o appear_v by_o the_o confession_n of_o some_o who_o be_v in_o prison_n at_o the_o least_o for_o suspicion_n of_o treason_n now_o if_o they_o begin_v thus_o malicious_o and_o impudent_o so_o soon_o what_o will_v they_o not_o dare_v to_o do_v hereafter_o if_o god_n and_o good_a law_n do_v not_o suppress_v they_o and_o true_o by_o this_o experience_n that_o of_o the_o fruit_n of_o our_o prayer_n for_o our_o prince_n in_o the_o time_n of_o good_a queen_n elizabeth_n who_o life_n be_v so_o often_o seek_v and_o so_o desperate_o that_o she_o may_v true_o say_v with_o the_o psalmist_n they_o have_v often_o time_n afflict_v i_o from_o my_o youth_n 129.2_o psal_n 129.2_o but_o they_o can_v not_o prevail_v against_o i_o for_o she_o go_v to_o her_o grave_n unless_o we_o then_o call_v upon_o he_o now_o at_o this_o day_n there_o be_v many_o trouble_n in_o our_o land_n as_o not_o only_o secret_a practice_n of_o traitor_n against_o the_o king_n excellent_a majesty_n but_o also_o great_a sickness_n and_o mortality_n in_o many_o chief_a place_n and_o the_o same_o dia_o spread_v itself_o further_o and_o further_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o great_a and_o they_o come_v &_o how_o sleepe_o do_v they_o behave_v themselves_o here_o as_o though_o it_o make_v no_o matter_n at_o all_o how_o they_o serve_v god_n yea_o servant_n be_v common_o more_o diligent_a still_o to_o disappoint_v they_o of_o their_o treasonable_a devise_n and_o devilish_a practice_n and_o to_o preserve_v our_o king_n and_o all_o his_o that_o so_o we_o may_v still_o rejoice_v in_o their_o salvation_n even_o for_o christ_n jesus_n his_o sake_n in_o thy_o salvation_n etc._n etc._n as_o all_o subject_n principal_o shall_v by_o this_o example_n learn_v to_o pray_v for_o their_o king_n and_o all_o chief_a governor_n under_o they_o that_o god_n will_v preserve_v and_o bless_v they_o that_o they_o may_v themselves_o rejoice_v because_o they_o be_v worthy_a instrument_n of_o see_v god_n have_v place_v they_o over_o they_o for_o their_o good_a and_o they_o enjoy_v so_o many_o great_a benefis_n in_o their_o house_n and_o by_o their_o mean_n and_o so_o have_v so_o many_o cause_n of_o rejoice_v from_o they_o &_o by_o they_o they_o shall_v pray_v for_o their_o life_n health_n and_o welfare_n that_o they_o may_v rejoice_v there_o still_o for_o they_o shall_v have_v their_o part_n in_o it_o and_o it_o shall_v be_v the_o better_a for_o they_o and_o they_o must_v think_v before_o hand_n that_o when_o god_n take_v they_o away_o they_o shall_v have_v great_a cause_n of_o sorrow_n sorrow_n and_o their_o death_n or_o hurt_n their_o sorrow_n as_o we_o see_v how_o great_o joseph_n lament_v for_o his_o father_n death_n who_o when_o he_o give_v up_o the_o ghost_n 11._o to_o god_n for_o they_o as_o for_o ourselves_o and_o think_v that_o if_o god_n shall_v bless_v they_o we_o shall_v rejoice_v and_o this_o measure_n of_o love_n in_o prayer_n the_o more_o that_o we_o can_v come_v unto_o the_o more_o assurance_n may_v we_o have_v that_o god_n will_v hear_v we_o for_o they_o nay_o indeed_o without_o it_o we_o can_v have_v little_a or_o none_o at_o all_o that_o god_n will_v hear_v we_o for_o any_o as_o for_o example_n if_o any_o in_o their_o sickness_n do_v desire_v that_o we_o shall_v pray_v for_o they_o here_o in_o the_o church_n and_o we_o do_v so_o we_o must_v desire_v their_o health_n and_o recovery_n not_o only_o that_o the_o party_n himself_o pray_v for_o may_v rejoice_v and_o his_o family_n wife_n and_o child_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o his_o friend_n but_o that_o we_o all_o may_v be_v glad_a and_o comfort_v by_o his_o life_n and_o health_n and_o we_o must_v account_v his_o recovery_n our_o joy_n and_o think_v that_o if_o god_n shall_v hear_v we_o for_o he_o we_o ourselves_o shall_v be_v bind_v to_o give_v thanks_n unto_o god_n for_o it_o and_o when_o the_o lord_n shall_v see_v that_o that_o will_v be_v matter_n of_o joy_n unto_o many_o then_o will_v he_o the_o soon_o bestow_v it_o upon_o us._n and_o thus_o do_v the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o the_o sickness_n and_o of_o the_o recovery_n of_o epaphroditus_n a_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n loss_n of_o such_o a_o worthy_a instrument_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n therefore_o they_o be_v in_o great_a heaviness_n already_o god_n will_v not_o by_o take_v he_o away_o increase_v their_o grief_n by_o this_o new_a cause_n of_o sorrow_n but_o as_o they_o all_o desire_v his_o life_n for_o their_o further_a comfort_n so_o god_n do_v raise_v he_o up_o that_o they_o all_o may_v rejoice_v affection_n few_o pray_v for_o their_o brethren_n with_o this_o affection_n but_o for_o the_o most_o part_n man_n be_v not_o thus_o affect_v with_o the_o estate_n of_o their_o brethren_n no_o not_o when_o they_o pray_v for_o they_o but_o for_o want_v of_o love_n as_o if_o their_o affliction_n continue_v still_o upon_o they_o they_o will_v not_o great_o sorrow_n for_o they_o so_o if_o it_o be_v remoove_v and_o take_v away_o they_o will_v not_o great_o rejoice_v but_o it_o be_v all_o one_o with_o they_o howsoever_o it_o fall_v out_o with_o they_o and_o so_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v as_o it_o must_v needs_o that_o they_o pray_v very_o cold_o and_o therefore_o obtain_v very_o little_a or_o nothing_o for_o they_o and_o yet_o our_o saviour_n christ_n have_v teach_v we_o as_o be_v say_v even_o now_o to_o pray_v with_o this_o affection_n and_o fellow-feeling_n of_o the_o estate_n of_o other_o both_o in_o soul_n and_o body_n where_o he_o have_v command_v we_o to_o say_v give_v we_o this_o day_n our_o daily_a bread_n and_o forgive_v we_o our_o trespass_n and_o lead_v we_o not_o into_o tentation_n etc._n etc._n so_o that_o when_o we_o pray_v for_o other_o we_o shall_v account_v their_o estate_n our_o own_o but_o man_n common_o through_o self-love_n which_o reign_v in_o they_o be_v so_o take_v up_o whole_o into_o their_o own_o estate_n that_o they_o can_v neither_o sorrow_n nor_o rejoice_v nor_o any_o way_n be_v move_v with_o any_o thing_n but_o with_o that_o which_o concern_v themselves_o the_o apostle_n write_v to_o the_o corinthian_n give_v a_o reason_n of_o this_o sympathy_n that_o shall_v be_v among_o all_o the_o true_a believer_n draw_v from_o a_o comparison_n of_o the_o part_n of_o the_o natural_a body_n among_o which_o they_o all_o have_v the_o same_o care_n one_o for_o another_o and_o the_o same_o affection_n both_o of_o joy_n and_o sorrow_n 12.25_o 1._o cor._n 12.25_o when_o he_o say_v thus_o god_n have_v temper_v the_o body_n together_o and_o tell_v he_o that_o it_o be_v that_o trade_n of_o life_n which_o god_n have_v distribute_v unto_o they_o &_o which_o he_o have_v call_v they_o unto_o so_o that_o a_o servant_n must_v be_v persuade_v they_o for_o their_o good_a service_n and_o to_o defend_v they_o in_o a_o good_a cause_n against_o any_o abuse_n that_o their_o master_n shall_v offer_v unto_o they_o and_o so_o for_o the_o other_o estate_n of_o life_n marriage_n and_o of_o be_v call_v to_o the_o state_n of_o marriage_n that_o he_o speak_v of_o there_o if_o any_o be_v call_v unto_o marriage_n they_o must_v not_o only_o be_v persuade_v of_o the_o lawfulness_n of_o it_o and_o that_o god_n have_v call_v they_o unto_o it_o but_o also_o that_o he_o have_v join_v they_o together_o this_o man_n to_o this_o woman_n as_o eve_n in_o paradise_n be_v join_v to_o adam_n by_o the_o immediate_a hand_n of_o god_n and_o so_o that_o they_o come_v not_o together_o by_o fortune_n or_o chance_n or_o by_o the_o will_n and_o consent_n of_o their_o friend_n or_o by_o their_o own_o choice_n only_o but_o by_o god_n &_o that_o their_o marriage_n be_v first_o make_v in_o heaven_n before_o it_o be_v solemnize_v upon_o earth_n and_o therefore_o that_o they_o be_v in_o that_o place_n that_o god_n have_v call_v they_o unto_o then_o may_v they_o with_o comfort_n pray_v for_o all_o such_o gift_n as_o be_v needful_a for_o those_o place_n as_o in_o do_v of_o their_o duty_n that_o the_o lord_n will_v preserve_v they_o from_o all_o cross_n that_o may_v befall_v they_o and_o assist_v they_o in_o they_o and_o general_o that_o he_o will_v hear_v their_o prayer_n and_o send_v they_o help_v from_o heaven_n as_o the_o people_n do_v here_o and_o to_o conclude_v this_o point_n they_o in_o all_o action_n of_o our_o life_n we_o ought_v to_o be_v persuade_v that_o god_n have_v call_v we_o unto_o they_o we_o must_v all_o of_o we_o be_v persuade_v in_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o our_o life_n that_o whatso-we_a do_v we_o have_v a_o call_n to_o it_o from_o god_n and_o so_o therein_o we_o be_v his_o anointed_n that_o be_v appoint_v of_o god_n for_o it_o which_o we_o shall_v ordinary_o know_v by_o this_o that_o the_o thing_n itself_o be_v good_a in_o it_o own_o nature_n and_o agreeable_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o command_v there_o and_o then_o that_o by_o virtue_n of_o our_o place_n that_o we_o be_v in_o god_n require_v they_o of_o we_o and_o that_o that_o time_n and_o place_n do_v also_o require_v they_o for_o all_o thing_n be_v not_o require_v of_o all_o man_n alike_o nor_o at_o all_o time_n and_o in_o all_o place_n then_o have_v this_o persuasion_n from_o the_o word_n of_o god_n though_o they_o be_v dangerous_a and_o full_a of_o trouble_n and_o such_o as_o may_v discourage_v we_o we_o may_v confident_o pray_v unto_o god_n to_o assist_v we_o and_o defend_v we_o therein_o and_o to_o help_v we_o in_o all_o affliction_n that_o shall_v befall_v we_o for_o the_o same_o and_o thus_o david_n here_o be_v a_o king_n be_v to_o defend_v his_o subject_n and_o therefore_o their_o enemy_n come_v against_o they_o to_o battle_n he_o go_v forth_o and_o adventure_v himself_o to_o the_o war_n and_o thus_o pray_v unto_o god_n and_o will_v the_o people_n to_o pray_v for_o he_o in_o this_o good_a action_n whereunto_o he_o be_v lawful_o call_v and_o god_n do_v hear_v their_o prayer_n and_o give_v they_o good_a success_n in_o like_a manner_n that_o famous_a and_o worthy_a queen_n hester_n after_o that_o mordecai_n have_v send_v unto_o she_o the_o copy_n of_o the_o king_n letter_n that_o be_v have_v call_v she_o unto_o it_o he_o will_v defend_v she_o in_o it_o but_o howsoever_o it_o shall_v fall_v out_o she_o will_v commit_v herself_o in_o this_o cause_n to_o his_o bless_a providence_n content_v to_o be_v order_v by_o his_o will_n i_o will_v go_v in_o to_o the_o king_n which_o be_v not_o according_a to_o the_o law_n and_o if_o i_o perish_v i_o perish_v but_o in_o the_o mean_a
