the_o two_o point_n which_o lie_v at_o the_o bottom_n of_o this_o discourse_n of_o our_o saviour_n viz._n that_o punishment_n belong_v to_o sin_n and_o that_o the_o evil_n which_o happen_v in_o this_o world_n do_v not_o happen_v without_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n attend_v upon_o all_o the_o circumstance_n thereof_o i_o proceed_v now_o to_o those_o point_n which_o be_v the_o direct_a purpose_n of_o this_o place_n whereof_o the_o 1._o be_v that_o they_o who_o suffer_v very_o great_a evil_n be_v not_o always_o great_a sinner_n than_o those_o who_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n suffer_v nothing_o that_o be_v the_o plain_a doctrine_n of_o our_o saviour_n express_v in_o these_o question_n suppose_v you_o that_o these_o be_v great_a sinner_n than_o all_o the_o galilean_n and_o these_o than_o this_o life_n and_o threaten_v all_o the_o evil_n of_o life_n to_o they_o that_o break_v it_o but_o the_o time_n be_v now_o come_v when_o these_o consideration_n shall_v not_o be_v so_o much_o regard_v and_o god_n will_v establish_v a_o covenant_n upon_o promise_n of_o a_o high_a nature_n than_o those_o of_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n and_o upon_o more_o terrible_a penalty_n than_o those_o be_v threaten_v by_o that_o law_n and_o therefore_o this_o plain_a doctrine_n of_o our_o saviour_n which_o no_o doubt_n be_v something_o surprise_v to_o his_o hearer_n be_v very_o seasonable_a to_o be_v deliver_v just_o when_o that_o law_n be_v expire_n and_o a_o better_a be_v to_o take_v place_n the_o time_n be_v come_v when_o all_o that_o will_v live_v godly_a in_o christ_n jesus_n shall_v suffer_v persecution_n when_o his_o disciple_n shall_v be_v hate_v of_o all_o man_n for_o his_o name_n sake_n and_o delver_v up_o to_o be_v beat_v and_o scourge_v and_o put_v to_o death_n which_o when_o they_o shall_v see_v they_o will_v have_v reason_n to_o remember_v that_o he_o have_v tell_v they_o upon_o a_o particular_a occasion_n that_o they_o be_v not_o to_o call_v they_o the_o great_a be_v great_a design_n in_o hand_n than_o to_o keep_v a_o small_a nation_n in_o comparison_n to_o the_o observation_n of_o a_o law_n that_o require_v abundance_n of_o ceremony_n and_o be_v content_a with_o the_o outward_a work_n which_o serve_v to_o a_o happy_a life_n in_o this_o world_n the_o true_a rule_n of_o righteousness_n and_o charity_n be_v now_o to_o be_v lay_v down_o and_o man_n be_v to_o learn_v to_o live_v above_o the_o world_n and_o to_o be_v bring_v to_o the_o practice_n of_o piety_n by_o the_o promise_v of_o immortality_n in_o a_o future_a state_n to_o reward_v they_o for_o any_o thing_n they_o shall_v lose_v or_o suffer_v for_o it_o in_o this_o it_o will_v therefore_o be_v expedient_a that_o the_o power_n of_o this_o faith_n shall_v be_v sometime_o demonstrate_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o the_o instruction_n of_o man_n and_o that_o by_o example_n of_o constancy_n in_o suffer_v for_o righteousness_n it_o will_v also_o be_v expedient_a that_o the_o profession_n of_o so_o holy_a a_o faith_n shall_v not_o be_v dishonour_v by_o the_o continual_a scandal_n of_o man_n who_o conversation_n be_v quite_o contrary_a to_o their_o profession_n and_o therefore_o that_o god_n shall_v purify_v his_o church_n in_o the_o furnace_n of_o affliction_n and_o sometime_o separate_v the_o sincere_a from_o the_o hypocrite_n by_o bring_v they_o to_o the_o test_n of_o persecution_n that_o those_o who_o hang_v loose_o upon_o the_o christian_a communion_n may_v be_v shake_v off_o and_o none_o but_o good_a example_n leave_v in_o it_o to_o bring_v great_a credit_n to_o the_o gospel_n and_o more_o proselyte_n to_o it_o than_o it_o have_v before_o since_o therefore_o the_o time_n be_v come_v when_o man_n shall_v suffer_v not_o at_o all_o as_o sinner_n or_o evil_a doer_n but_o for_o a_o good_a cause_n and_o with_o a_o good_a conscience_n most_o certain_o it_o be_v a_o seasonable_a instruction_n that_o the_o great_a sufferer_n be_v not_o to_o be_v
