140._o thy_o word_n be_v prove_v most_o pure_a and_o thy_o servant_n love_v it_o here_o the_o prophet_n show_v his_o love_n to_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o his_o zeal_n repeat_v in_o effect_n that_o because_o we_o feel_v not_o the_o like_a temptation_n for_o they_o that_o zeal_n have_v no_o sight_n of_o their_o corruption_n know_v not_o their_o unbelief_n and_o they_o that_o feel_v not_o their_o unbelief_n feel_v not_o the_o necessity_n of_o this_o strengthen_n of_o their_o faith_n and_o as_o they_o that_o know_v not_o their_o unbelief_n know_v nothing_o so_o they_o that_o believe_v and_o see_v their_o unbelief_n know_v this_o to_o be_v necessary_a they_o then_o that_o have_v a_o true_a trial_n of_o their_o unbelief_n know_v this_o faith_n to_o be_v a_o rare_a gift_n of_o god_n so_o that_o the_o prophet_n commend_v the_o word_n of_o god_n here_o of_o experience_n for_o he_o say_v thy_o word_n be_v prove_v most_o pure_a his_o meaning_n be_v this_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o i_o be_o so_o zealous_a even_o because_o i_o love_v thy_o word_n and_o therefore_o o'lord_n i_o love_v thy_o word_n because_o i_o find_v it_o by_o proof_n to_o be_v so_o pure_a that_o we_o then_o may_v make_v this_o our_o rule_n for_o examination_n why_o be_v we_o so_o cold_a in_o zeal_n even_o because_o we_o be_v cold_a in_o the_o love_n of_o the_o word_n for_o as_o our_o love_n increase_v so_o increase_v also_o our_o delight_n and_o grief_n our_o delight_n to_o see_v the_o thing_n love_v to_o have_v happy_a proceed_n our_o grief_n to_o see_v the_o thing_n which_o we_o love_v to_o be_v despise_v this_o we_o see_v to_o be_v in_o every_o kind_n of_o love_n for_o a_o man_n that_o true_o love_v his_o wifâ—_n can_v abide_v to_o see_v his_o wife_n contemn_v and_o discredit_v nor_o the_o woman_n that_o true_o love_v her_o husband_n can_v abide_v to_o see_v he_o reject_v and_o despise_v when_o we_o love_v our_o friend_n we_o be_v grieve_v to_o see_v any_o contempt_n offer_v unto_o he_o this_o than_o we_o see_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o true_a love_n to_o rejoice_v to_o see_v the_o person_n love_v advance_a or_o the_o thing_n which_o we_o love_v esteem_v and_o grieve_v to_o see_v either_o the_o person_n or_o thing_n so_o love_v to_o be_v cast_v down_o and_o contemn_v it_o be_v a_o grief_n even_o to_o the_o heathenish_a philosopher_n to_o see_v their_o doctrine_n not_o regard_v be_v they_o so_o move_v for_o the_o small_a regard_n of_o that_o earthly_a doctrine_n which_o have_v no_o exact_a truth_n in_o it_o but_o be_v mingle_v with_o infinite_a error_n and_o untruth_n and_o shall_v not_o we_o much_o more_o be_v move_v to_o see_v the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o have_v so_o exact_a a_o truth_n and_o no_o untruth_n contemn_v and_o little_o set_v by_o wherefore_o when_o we_o have_v not_o this_o godly_a grief_n in_o we_o it_o be_v a_o manifest_a argument_n that_o our_o love_n be_v very_o cold_a for_o as_o our_o love_n be_v the_o great_a so_o undoubted_o our_o grief_n will_v be_v the_o great_a and_o so_o as_o our_o love_n be_v the_o less_o so_o will_v our_o grief_n to_o see_v the_o thing_n deface_v be_v also_o the_o less_o when_o we_o have_v much_o delight_n in_o any_o thing_n we_o be_v much_o grieve_v and_o who_o be_v more_o grieve_v to_o see_v the_o word_n of_o god_n tread_v down_o than_o the_o godly_a because_o of_o all_o other_o their_o delight_n be_v most_o in_o it_o not_o without_o cause_n than_o be_v this_o love_n commend_v unto_o we_o to_o be_v a_o token_n of_o our_o zeal_n and_o therefore_o we_o see_v psalm_n 67._o the_o church_n praise_v and_o provoke_v all_o the_o world_n to_o praise_n god_n when_o the_o word_n have_v free_a success_n such_o be_v the_o love_n of_o it_o to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n o_o let_v thy_o people_n praise_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o he_o shall_v love_v the_o glory_n of_o his_o son_n
body_n to_o have_v live_v in_o burn_a fire_n until_o the_o appear_v of_o christ_n so_o he_o may_v then_o be_v assure_v of_o god_n favour_n towards_o he_o yea_o his_o great_a comfort_n be_v this_o that_o though_o he_o shall_v be_v in_o hell_n yet_o he_o hope_v therein_o of_o god_n favour_n to_o have_v his_o torment_n mitigate_v with_o they_o that_o suffer_v god_n least_o in_o all_o which_o to_o be_v most_o miserable_a of_o all_o 3_o he_o say_v howsoever_o man_n may_v deal_v with_o outward_a matter_n yet_o when_o grief_n and_o fancy_n grow_v in_o the_o mind_n and_o grieve_v it_o nothing_o can_v sure_o cure_v they_o but_o only_o the_o conscience_n word_n of_o god_n 4_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o diverse_a humble_a conscience_n he_o will_v mislike_v they_o that_o will_v not_o abide_v to_o tarry_v the_o lord_n leisure_n but_o they_o must_v needs_o be_v help_v at_o once_o even_o by_o and_o by_o as_o soon_o as_o they_o hear_v he_o speak_v or_o else_o they_o will_v then_o think_v far_o worse_o of_o he_o than_o ever_o before_o notwithstanding_o the_o good_a report_n have_v and_o the_o good_a opinion_n conceive_v of_o he_o for_o beside_o that_o he_o that_o believe_v make_v not_o haste_n this_o be_v a_o come_v rather_o as_o it_o do_v be_v to_o a_o magician_n who_o by_o a_o incantation_n of_o word_n make_v silly_a soul_n look_v for_o health_n than_o to_o the_o minister_n of_o god_n who_o word_n be_v most_o angelical_a comfort_n not_o until_o and_o so_o much_o as_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o give_v a_o blessing_n unto_o they_o which_o sometime_o he_o do_v deny_v because_o we_o come_v to_o they_o with_o too_o great_a a_o opinion_n of_o they_o as_o though_o they_o be_v wise_a man_n not_o unto_o such_o as_o use_v their_o mean_n yet_o do_v look_v and_o stay_v for_o our_o comfort_n whole_o from_o god_n himself_o 5_o be_v ask_v how_o in_o the_o examine_n of_o our_o conscience_n for_o sin_n we_o shall_v find_v out_o the_o special_a sin_n he_o say_v that_o can_v not_o easy_o be_v do_v for_o who_o do_v understand_v the_o error_n of_o his_o life_n but_o by_o oft_o examine_v of_o ourselves_o by_o acquaint_v of_o ourselves_o with_o our_o sin_n own_o estate_n by_o earnest_a prayer_n that_o god_n will_v reveal_v we_o the_o sin_n by_o oft_o hear_v and_o read_v the_o word_n by_o mark_v the_o most_o check_n of_o our_o conscience_n and_o reproach_n of_o our_o enemy_n we_o may_v be_v lead_v to_o the_o near_a sight_n of_o they_o 2._o 6_o unto_o one_o afflict_a in_o mind_n he_o give_v this_o comfort_n first_o if_o you_o have_v knowledge_n be_v 4._o 6._o thankful_a for_o it_o and_o desire_v the_o lord_n to_o give_v you_o faith_n if_o you_o have_v faith_n which_o undoubted_o you_o may_v have_v though_o not_o right_o discern_v feel_v no_o sensible_a comfort_n in_o the_o lord_n can_v notwithstanding_o believe_v in_o the_o lord_n and_o by_o faith_n wait_v on_o he_o this_o man_n faith_n be_v most_o great_a 7_o after_o some_o effectual_a work_n of_o god_n spirit_n in_o we_o most_o common_o in_o many_o not_o mind_n long_o after_o come_v deadness_n and_o dulness_n against_o this_o evil_n we_o must_v first_o search_v the_o cause_n whether_o it_o be_v for_o some_o evil_a thing_n do_v or_o for_o some_o good_a thing_n not_o do_v for_o leave_v some_o mean_n of_o salvation_n unused_a whether_o for_o some_o sin_n see_v but_o nor_o repent_v of_o or_o some_o sin_n 2._o repent_v of_o but_o not_o sound_o or_o for_o unthankfulnes_n second_o use_v the_o remedy_n please_v not_o 4._o yourself_o in_o it_o but_o rouse_v up_o yourself_o as_o from_o a_o slumber_n which_o willing_o you_o will_v shake_v 5._o off_o from_o you_o call_v to_o mind_n the_o special_a and_o great_a mercy_n of_o god_n use_v the_o mean_n three_o in_o the_o mean_n offer_v thyself_o unto_o god_n wait_v humble_o and_o patient_o for_o the_o time_n of_o deliverance_n neither_o esteem_v too_o much_o nor_o too_o little_a of_o the_o affliction_n 8_o when_o one_o be_v trouble_v in_o mind_n he_o give_v he_o this_o comfortable_a note_n that_o although_o after_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o after_o some_o travail_n in_o the_o new_a birth_n god_n grace_n be_v not_o so_o sweet_a and_o our_o sin_n not_o so_o sour_a and_o grievous_a unto_o we_o as_o they_o be_v at_o our_o first_o entrance_n into_o regeneration_n but_o we_o be_v now_o weak_a in_o less_o assault_n have_v afore_o be_v strong_a in_o great_a temptation_n we_o be_v not_o to_o despair_v but_o to_o consider_v from_o whence_o this_o gracious_a progress_n do_v come_v namely_o of_o god_n and_o not_o of_o ourselves_o who_o show_v himself_o more_o favourable_a in_o the_o beginning_n both_o because_o he_o will_v not_o discourage_v we_o new_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o for_o that_o we_o that_o notwithstanding_o our_o proceed_n in_o christianity_n we_o be_v still_o but_o man_n and_o god_n alone_o be_v god_n 9_o he_o say_v to_o one_o trouble_v in_o mind_n for_o a_o secret_a and_o small_a sin_n i_o do_v not_o so_o much_o fear_v sin_n this_o sin_n in_o you_o as_o the_o policy_n of_o satan_n by_o it_o either_o in_o that_o he_o will_v not_o stick_v to_o show_v you_o the_o less_o sin_n &_o hide_v from_o you_o the_o great_a or_o else_o by_o the_o quick_a sight_n of_o your_o secret_a and_o small_a sin_n to_o cast_v upon_o you_o a_o open_a and_o gross_a sin_n of_o vain_a glory_n and_o privy_a pride_n 10_o afflict_a conscience_n must_v not_o dispute_v too_o much_o against_o themselves_o for_o their_o own_o action_n for_o that_o be_v displease_v with_o their_o own_o person_n they_o can_v be_v please_v with_o their_o own_o do_n 11_o he_o tell_v in_o love_n this_o observation_n and_o experience_n when_o any_o come_v with_o a_o trouble_a afflict_a conscience_n for_o sin_n wise_o to_o discern_v whether_o they_o be_v mean_o grieve_v with_o a_o general_a sight_n of_o their_o sin_n or_o whether_o they_o be_v extreme_o throw_v down_o with_o the_o burden_n of_o particular_a sin_n if_o so_o they_o be_v than_o it_o be_v good_a at_o the_o first_o to_o show_v that_o no_o sin_n be_v so_o great_a but_o in_o christ_n it_o be_v pardonable_a and_o that_o there_o be_v mercy_n with_o god_n that_o he_o may_v be_v fear_v so_o 1_o on_o the_o other_o side_n shewiug_v the_o mercy_n to_o come_v from_o god_n but_o so_o as_o they_o be_v nothing_o fit_a to_o 2_o receive_v mercy_n unless_o they_o feel_v their_o particular_a and_o prick_a sin_n but_o if_o their_o sorrow_n be_v more_o confess_v in_o general_a thing_n than_o it_o be_v good_a to_o
make_v conscience_n of_o sin_n be_v know_v the_o lord_n visit_v we_o with_o private_a and_o public_a mean_n that_o as_o the_o wicked_a shall_v be_v without_o all_o hope_n ease_n or_o end_v torment_v in_o hell_n so_o these_o in_o mercy_n and_o measure_n shall_v have_v their_o heart_n break_v which_o because_o they_o will_v not_o do_v by_o the_o love_a invocate_a and_o invite_v of_o they_o by_o the_o lord_n therefore_o it_o be_v do_v by_o some_o cross_n second_o it_o respect_v the_o regenerate_v either_o to_o continue_v they_o in_o their_o good_a estate_n or_o to_o keep_v they_o from_o some_o gross_a sin_n for_o god_n his_o child_n do_v sometime_o fall_v and_o always_o may_v fall_v if_o god_n keep_v they_o not_o because_o david_n and_o manasses_n have_v sin_v god_n send_v they_o the_o cross_n that_o they_o may_v not_o forget_v he_o now_o because_o the_o same_o may_v be_v in_o we_o if_o the_o lord_n will_v pour_v out_o his_o wrath_n upon_o the_o wicked_a sure_o he_o will_v not_o suffer_v his_o own_o child_n to_o be_v uncontrolled_a we_o must_v not_o then_o as_o some_o be_v wont_a to_o do_v say_v do_v not_o david_n sin_n make_v you_o so_o much_o at_o i_o be_v not_o david_n a_o great_a sinner_n and_o yet_o save_v it_o be_v well_o indeed_o if_o we_o will_v bind_v david_n sin_n with_o david_n his_o repentance_n or_o if_o we_o consider_v how_o the_o sun_n be_v do_v little_o help_v we_o to_o reckon_v up_o david_n his_o sin_v this_o do_v god_n to_o sow_v the_o lip_n of_o the_o wicked_a that_o they_o shall_v not_o say_v that_o god_n do_v spare_v and_o punish_v not_o sin_n in_o he_o and_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o dream_v of_o escape_n when_o his_o own_o servant_n be_v so_o punish_v and_o although_o god_n his_o child_n present_o fall_v not_o but_o be_v ready_a to_o fall_v he_o wrap_v they_o often_o in_o the_o cross_n of_o the_o wicked_a not_o so_o much_o to_o punish_v any_o sin_n present_a but_o to_o prevent_v in_o they_o some_o sin_n to_o come_v that_o thereby_o take_v away_o the_o occasion_n of_o sin_v he_o may_v humble_v they_o before_o they_o fall_v again_o albeit_o they_o be_v not_o subject_a to_o gross_a sin_n yet_o because_o they_o be_v before_o all_o thing_n be_v in_o better_a case_n no_o such_o disturbance_n in_o religion_n no_o such_o noise_n of_o notorious_a sin_n no_o such_o turmoiling_n on_o every_o side_n all_o thing_n be_v at_o good_a quiet_n but_o now_o we_o have_v more_o trouble_n than_o ever_o in_o former_a time_n be_v hear_v of_o the_o wicked_a do_v not_o only_o break_v their_o neck_n at_o this_o block_n but_o god_n his_o own_o child_n have_v dangerous_o stumble_v at_o it_o for_o when_o job_n david_n jeremiah_n without_o god_n his_o spirit_n behold_v the_o prosperity_n of_o the_o wicked_a and_o the_o adversity_n resurrection_n to_o everlasting_a life_n and_o in_o god_n fatherly_a providence_n which_o thing_n if_o we_o do_v believe_v we_o must_v also_o believe_v that_o god_n in_o this_o life_n will_v sufficient_o minister_v unto_o all_o our_o want_n and_o unless_o we_o do_v believe_v together_o they_o we_o do_v not_o neither_o can_v we_o believe_v with_o assurance_n that_o the_o lord_n will_v preserve_v us._n but_o if_o we_o doubt_v whether_o the_o lord_n will_v help_v we_o in_o earthly_a thing_n we_o must_v needs_o much_o more_o doubt_n of_o his_o favour_n in_o spiritual_a benefit_n first_o therefore_o the_o great_a and_o rich_a mercy_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o favourable_a deal_n with_o we_o be_v due_o consider_v shall_v be_v very_o profitable_a to_o work_v in_o we_o patience_n for_o if_o we_o see_v how_o the_o lord_n forbear_v we_o and_o reward_v we_o not_o according_a to_o our_o sin_n â—ay_n if_o we_o see_v that_o when_o for_o the_o ripeness_n of_o our_o sin_n he_o may_v 4._o confound_v we_o yet_o â—e_n do_v not_o so_o much_o as_o punish_v we_o and_o when_o he_o may_v just_o punish_v we_o yet_o he_o deal_v merciful_o with_o we_o and_o bestow_v his_o mercy_n upon_o us._n if_o i_o say_v we_o can_v acknowledge_v this_o to_o be_v his_o ordinary_a deal_n that_o by_o his_o long_a suffering_n he_o do_v lead_v we_o to_o repentance_n and_o by_o his_o manifold_a this_o in_o this_o people_n of_o israel_n for_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o only_o bear_v with_o their_o sin_n and_o bestow_v many_o mercy_n upon_o they_o but_o to_o help_v they_o and_o to_o do_v they_o good_a he_o do_v use_v extraordinary_a mean_n as_o to_o bring_v down_o bread_n from_o heaven_n to_o make_v water_n gush_v out_o of_o the_o rock_n where_o he_o show_v that_o for_o the_o safety_n of_o ordinary_a deal_n with_o his_o servant_n from_o time_n to_o time_n as_o moses_n apply_v this_o place_n when_o he_o say_v the_o lord_n have_v feed_v thou_o with_o this_o mâ—nna_n forty_o year_n that_o riches_n if_o we_o can_v do_v this_o than_o shall_v we_o easy_o take_v our_o heart_n from_o these_o earthly_a thing_n for_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o man_n set_v their_o delight_n on_o earthly_a thing_n because_o they_o know_v no_o better_o and_o that_o they_o may_v find_v this_o delight_n it_o be_v needful_a that_o they_o find_v comfort_n in_o the_o promise_n by_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n by_o the_o assurance_n of_o god_n favourable_a providence_n in_o this_o life_n and_o everlasting_a life_n afterward_o which_o when_o they_o feel_v and_o find_v then_o shall_v the_o word_n be_v so_o sweet_a that_o they_o shall_v forgo_v all_o thing_n for_o it_o till_o we_o come_v to_o this_o delight_n temptation_n
ourselves_o in_o meditation_n and_o that_o this_o deprive_v we_o of_o much_o profit_n herein_o in_o that_o we_o do_v not_o appoint_v some_o certain_a time_n for_o meditation_n moderate_v other_o thing_n of_o our_o ordinary_a calling_n &_o make_v a_o conscience_n sometime_o to_o refrain_v from_o our_o common_a speech_n so_o our_o understanding_n our_o judgement_n our_o will_n to_o practice_v will_v be_v meditation_n better_v if_o then_o at_o our_o table_n in_o our_o bed_n at_o our_o work_n we_o will_v redeem_v some_o time_n to_o read_v to_o pray_v or_o to_o confer_v we_o shall_v find_v wonderful_a profit_n and_o walk_v in_o earthly_a thing_n we_o shall_v have_v heavenly_a mind_n vers._n 104._o by_o thy_o precept_n i_o have_v get_v understanding_n therefore_o i_o hate_v all_o the_o unrighteousness_n but_o if_o we_o feel_v ourselves_o to_o be_v indifferent_a person_n and_o come_v what_o come_v may_v we_o care_v not_o great_o undoubted_o we_o be_v of_o no_o religion_n for_o if_o thou_o do_v not_o hate_v a_o atheist_n thou_o love_v not_o god_n if_o thou_o hate_v not_o heresy_n thou_o do_v sin_n not_o love_v god_n law_n if_o thou_o hate_v not_o adultery_n thou_o be_v not_o true_o chaste_a if_o thou_o hate_v not_o false_a deal_n thou_o be_v unrighteous_a we_o see_v heretic_n never_o hate_v one_o another_o because_o none_o of_o they_o love_v the_o truth_n for_o the_o papist_n can_v be_v content_a with_o the_o family_n of_o love_n and_o the_o family_n of_o love_n with_o they_o wherefore_o we_o see_v that_o many_o do_v false_o pretend_v religion_n chastity_n and_o true_a deal_n note_v here_o in_o that_o he_o say_v i_o have_v get_v understand_v by_o thy_o word_n as_o though_o his_o understanding_n heresy_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o his_o zealous_a hatred_n of_o the_o false_a worship_n what_o be_v the_o cause_n then_o that_o man_n do_v not_o hate_v evil_a in_o great_a measure_n because_o they_o be_v ignorant_a and_o know_v nothing_o indeed_o novelty_n displease_v they_o a_o little_a but_o when_o they_o be_v somewhat_o acquaint_v with_o that_o which_o be_v teach_v they_o they_o will_v like_v it_o well_o enough_o why_o do_v we_o hand_n over_o head_n take_v any_o religion_n even_o because_o we_o have_v not_o get_v understanding_n why_o do_v heresy_n get_v such_o easy_a entertainment_n with_o many_o of_o we_o because_o we_o be_v unconstant_a and_o bear_v away_o with_o every_o blast_n as_o witness_v peter_n and_o jude_n and_o because_o we_o be_v not_o fast_o root_v in_o knowledge_n as_o be_v mention_v ephes._n 4._o many_o in_o our_o country_n be_v stiff_a in_o heresy_n because_o they_o be_v never_o sound_v in_o judgement_n they_o be_v ever_o inconstant_a they_o be_v never_o root_v in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o be_v carry_v away_o with_o every_o puff_n of_o vain_a doctrine_n some_o indeed_o as_o we_o have_v say_v before_o fall_v for_o lack_v of_o good_a conscience_n but_o some_o never_o come_v so_o far_o because_o they_o hear_v not_o or_o else_o hear_v very_o negligent_o and_o therefore_o whosoever_o shall_v now_o come_v and_o blow_v a_o illusion_n in_o their_o ear_n he_o shall_v be_v hear_v how_o shall_v we_o know_v a_o enemy_n he_o come_v under_o the_o cloak_n of_o love_n and_o be_v cover_v with_o the_o vizard_n of_o honesty_n but_o his_o understanding_n fail_v his_o judgement_n be_v corrupt_a in_o that_o it_o be_v here_o say_v all_o the_o way_n of_o falsehood_n we_o must_v note_v that_o we_o be_v to_o grow_v from_o knowledge_n to_o knowledge_n from_o faith_n to_o faith_n from_o glory_n to_o glory_n that_o grow_v in_o godly_a understanding_n we_o may_v grow_v also_o in_o hatred_n of_o falsehood_n this_o verse_n may_v seem_v to_o have_v some_o contrariety_n with_o the_o verse_n a_o little_a go_v before_o where_o he_o say_v i_o have_v abstain_v from_o every_o evil_n that_o i_o may_v keep_v thy_o law_n but_o indeed_o there_o be_v none_o because_o no_o true_a mortification_n both_o here_o and_o in_o that_o place_n be_v require_v a_o hatred_n avoid_v of_o evil_a we_o must_v know_v note_n that_o the_o way_n to_o make_v good_a thing_n frâ—â—â—te_v be_v the_o way_n to_o feel_v evil_a thing_n sour_a as_o when_o thou_o be_v grieve_v to_o feel_v thy_o eye_n a_o occasion_n of_o evil_a or_o evil_a thought_n to_o be_v in_o thy_o heart_n with_o bitterness_n and_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n thou_o must_v strive_v against_o they_o and_o god_n will_v give_v thou_o strength_n to_o strive_v not_o only_o without_o constraint_n but_o also_o of_o a_o love_n of_o good_a and_o a_o hatred_n of_o evil_a the_o first_o way_n then_o unto_o righteousness_n be_v wear_v somâ—â—es_n of_o sin_n and_o to_o strive_v against_o it_o though_o with_o great_a trouble_n because_o the_o more_o we_o vex_v torment_n and_o heresy_n hate_v of_o heresy_n be_v a_o token_n of_o our_o not_o profit_v in_o knowledge_n when_o we_o hear_v then_o if_o our_o hear_n do_v not_o work_v in_o we_o a_o love_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o hatred_n of_o the_o contrary_a we_o have_v not_o profit_v in_o knowledge_n but_o if_o we_o grow_v in_o knowledge_n we_o shall_v know_v it_o by_o profit_v in_o the_o love_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o in_o the_o hatred_n of_o falsehood_n we_o have_v show_v how_o in_o the_o former_a portion_n the_o man_n of_o god_n testify_v his_o affection_n to_o god_n law_n and_o conclude_v with_o his_o hatred_n we_o at_o once_o stop_v up_o the_o mouth_n of_o the_o enemy_n when_o refuse_v to_o plead_v our_o own_o cause_n we_o refer_v ourselves_o unto_o christ_n who_o we_o know_v to_o be_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n and_o able_a to_o answer_v all_o that_o can_v possible_o be_v object_v against_o us._n for_o see_v satan_n be_v a_o wrangle_a and_o intemptation_n subtle_a sophister_n it_o be_v our_o sure_a to_o the_o silence_v of_o our_o adversary_n that_o we_o have_v a_o competent_a knowledge_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o our_o salvation_n by_o christ_n far_o remove_v from_o that_o ignorance_n and_o implicit_a understanding_n which_o satan_n have_v plant_v in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o antichrist_n for_o persuasion_n also_o we_o acknowledge_v that_o partly_o by_o the_o corruption_n of_o nature_n and_o partly_o by_o his_o assault_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n it_o be_v such_o as_o the_o same_o be_v oftentimes_o assail_v and_o shake_v yet_o fail_v not_o nor_o fall_v unto_o the_o ground_n but_o stand_v invincible_a against_o all_o his_o attempt_n and_o invasion_n whatsoever_o and_o final_o for_o that_o faith_n whereby_o we_o rest_v for_o our_o salvation_n upon_o christ_n jesus_n we_o
