inquisitive_a for_o some_o mark_n of_o faith_n who_o never_o so_o much_o as_o know_v any_o thing_n which_o may_v draw_v they_o effectual_o to_o believe_v and_o therefore_o now_o to_o end_v this_o themselves_o yet_o be_v not_o always_o good_a for_o we_o but_o we_o may_v be_v save_v without_o they_o and_o in_o some_o case_n
free_a and_o undeserued_a so_o on_o the_o other_o side_n there_o be_v no_o sin_n which_o ought_v to_o hinder_v any_o one_o from_o receive_v pardon_n so_o free_o offer_v unto_o he_o but_o rather_o as_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o disease_n shall_v more_o hasten_v the_o sick_a to_o seek_v to_o such_o a_o physician_n as_o can_v cure_v all_o disease_n &_o not_o keep_v back_o such_o as_o be_v call_v wicked_a beside_o the_o infinite_a odds_n in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v for_o proof_n whereof_o as_o he_o in_o many_o word_n set_v out_o the_o short_a and_o soon_o fade_a prosperity_n of_o the_o have_v the_o promise_n of_o this_o life_n aswell_o as_o of_o the_o life_n to_o come_v it_o can_v be_v doubt_v but_o in_o all_o those_o general_a promise_n wherein_o god_n say_v he_o will_v dwell_v with_o his_o and_o not_o forsake_v they_o that_o god_n will_v love_v and_o bless_v his_o people_n that_o he_o will_v be_v their_o god_n will_v rejoice_v over_o they_o to_o do_v they_o good_a will_v compass_v they_o with_o favour_n as_o with_o a_o shield_n will_v keep_v his_o covenant_n with_o they_o that_o he_o will_v see_v peace_n in_o their_o border_n and_o prosper_v they_o in_o all_o they_o go_v about_o in_o these_o i_o say_v and_o the_o like_o many_o it_o can_v be_v doubt_v but_o all_o needful_a blessing_n of_o this_o life_n be_v contain_v and_o therefore_o this_o shall_v be_v the_o use_n promise_n use_v of_o all_o these_o general_a promise_n we_o shall_v make_v of_o they_o all_o that_o whensoever_o we_o feel_v ourselves_o pinch_v with_o any_o earthly_a necessity_n then_o to_o run_v to_o any_o one_o of_o these_o gracious_a promise_n that_o so_o well_o consider_v what_o abundant_a relief_n be_v contain_v in_o they_o we_o may_v quiet_a and_o content_a our_o mind_n therewith_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o see_v he_o be_v faithful_a who_o have_v promise_v we_o shall_v not_o want_v any_o earthly_a blessing_n at_o what_o time_n and_o in_o what_o measure_v it_o shall_v be_v good_a for_o us._n these_o general_a promise_n of_o all_o good_a thing_n for_o this_o life_n be_v the_o more_o to_o be_v observe_v in_o read_v the_o scripture_n and_o at_o least_o some_o of_o the_o most_o principal_a in_o our_o conceit_n to_o be_v keep_v in_o memory_n that_o they_o may_v be_v ready_a for_o our_o use_n in_o time_n of_o need_n both_o for_o that_o these_o be_v many_o mo_z and_o more_o oft_o repeat_v in_o scripture_n then_o any_o particular_a and_o also_o for_o that_o we_o can_v always_o have_v ready_a the_o particular_a promise_n for_o our_o special_a necessity_n when_o we_o have_v most_o need_n of_o they_o and_o this_o may_v be_v sufficient_a to_o have_v speak_v of_o this_o point_n for_o the_o strengthen_n of_o our_o faith_n in_o the_o assurance_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o want_v any_o earthly_a blessing_n which_o shall_v be_v needful_a for_o us._n but_o see_v the_o lord_n have_v so_o far_o yield_v to_o our_o infirmity_n promise_n special_a promise_n as_o to_o apply_v his_o promise_n to_o our_o special_a necessity_n it_o shall_v be_v available_a for_o our_o comfort_n to_o take_v knowledge_n of_o they_o that_o so_o we_o may_v make_v our_o use_n of_o they_o as_o need_n shall_v require_v among_o all_o earthly_a blessing_n life_n long_o life_n life_n itself_o be_v the_o chief_a for_o upon_o it_o
all_o other_o depend_v and_o the_o devil_n himself_o who_o be_v so_o well_o acquaint_v with_o our_o disposition_n can_v say_v all_o that_o a_o man_n have_v will_v he_o give_v for_o his_o life_n for_o this_o cause_n the_o lord_n the_o more_o to_o hearten_v we_o to_o all_o obedience_n do_v make_v so_o many_o promise_n of_o long_a life_n and_o many_o day_n as_o in_o the_o five_o commandment_n which_o these_o promise_n concern_v long_a life_n that_o in_o all_o the_o peril_n of_o this_o life_n by_o sickness_n war_n famine_n thief_n witch_n or_o any_o wicked_a enemy_n whatsoever_o we_o may_v call_v to_o mind_v some_o of_o these_o promise_n and_o so_o rest_v ourselves_o quiet_o thereupon_o that_o none_o of_o these_o nor_o any_o thing_n else_o shall_v shorten_v the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n more_o than_o shall_v turn_v to_o our_o great_a good_a yea_o further_o see_v the_o lord_n have_v make_v it_o so_o great_a a_o encouragement_n to_o fear_n and_o serve_v he_o as_o if_o he_o have_v not_o a_o 19_o as_o hezekiah_n and_o david_n oftentimes_o 4._o psal_n 6._o 4._o yea_o and_o many_o of_o they_o do_v enjoy_v it_o as_o the_o holy_a story_n record_v for_o a_o blessing_n of_o god_n upon_o they_o the_o consideration_n of_o these_o shall_v move_v we_o so_o to_o prize_v this_o blessing_n and_o desire_v it_o as_o they_o do_v which_o i_o the_o rather_o mention_v for_o that_o i_o have_v hear_v preach_v and_o read_v in_o the_o writing_n of_o some_o both_o godly_a and_o learned_a divine_n many_o persuasion_n to_o be_v weary_a of_o life_n and_o to_o be_v desirous_a of_o death_n which_o to_o say_v no_o more_o quite_o cross_v this_o wisdom_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n in_o promise_a life_n to_o his_o best_a servant_n as_o a_o chief_a reward_n of_o their_o good_a service_n let_v we_o then_o so_o account_v of_o long_a life_n as_o a_o rich_a blessing_n which_o make_v all_o other_o blessing_n of_o this_o life_n the_o more_o excellent_a and_o useful_a both_o to_o god_n and_o man_n to_o ourselves_o and_o other_o and_o the_o want_n hereof_o the_o quite_o contrary_a as_o may_v be_v easy_o show_v in_o all_o particular_n how_o do_v it_o abate_v the_o use_n and_o comfort_n of_o health_n wealth_n strength_n and_o valour_n of_o learning_n and_o general_o of_o all_o excellent_a gift_n of_o the_o mind_n or_o body_n if_o these_o be_v nip_v off_o in_o the_o bud_n and_o not_o suffer_v to_o come_v to_o full_a ripeness_n &_o so_o to_o continue_v to_o their_o full_a term_n and_o end_n let_v we_o then_o i_o say_v so_o accept_v these_o promise_n that_o in_o all_o time_n of_o need_n we_o may_v stay_v ourselves_o upon_o they_o and_o that_o we_o may_v find_v comfort_n in_o all_o tentation_n to_o the_o contrary_n this_o be_v the_o first_o and_o chief_a blessing_n of_o this_o life_n long_a life_n i_o mean_v if_o this_o shall_v not_o be_v accompany_v with_o health_n wealth_n peace_n and_o other_o like_a blessing_n it_o will_v make_v long_a life_n more_o wearisome_a than_o bodily_a health_n health_n health_n and_o strength_n whereby_o we_o may_v better_o enjoy_v and_o make_v use_n of_o these_o earthly_a comfort_n this_o be_v that_o which_o the_o lord_n promise_v to_o his_o people_n of_o israel_n immediate_o after_o they_o come_v out_o of_o the_o red_a sea_n where_o it_o be_v say_v the_o lord_n prove_v they_o and_o say_v if_o thou_o will_v diligent_o hearken_v to_o the_o voice_n of_o the_o lord_n thy_o god_n 26._o exod._n 15._o 26._o and_o will_v do_v that_o which_o be_v right_a in_o his_o sight_n and_o will_v give_v cure_n to_o his_o commandment_n 15._o deut._n trouble_n and_o supply_v they_o with_o all_o needful_a blessing_n for_o this_o life_n as_o there_o further_o may_v be_v see_v psal_n 41._o 1._o etc._n etc._n david_n set_v out_o god_n goodness_n to_o those_o that_o show_v mercy_n to_o the_o poor_a in_o their_o distress_n among_o many_o other_o blessing_n add_v this_o vers_n 3._o the_o lord_n will_v strengthen_v he_o upon_o the_o bed_n of_o languish_v thou_o will_v make_v all_o his_o bed_n in_o his_o sickness_n solomon_n pro._n 3._o 7._o exhort_v we_o to_o fear_v the_o lord_n and_o to_o depart_v from_o â—â—vill_n add_v this_o as_o a_o
