and_o then_o we_o cry_v our_o nature_n be_v so_o naught_o that_o god_n shall_v not_o hear_v of_o we_o as_o i_o say_v unless_o he_o send_v some_o messenger_n after_o we_o some_o affliction_n to_o bring_v we_o home_o as_o absalon_n deal_v by_o joab_n when_o he_o fire_v his_o corn_n in_o the_o gospel_n christ_n have_v never_o hear_v of_o many_o people_n have_v it_o not_o be_v for_o some_o infirmity_n but_o bless_a be_v those_o sickness_n and_o infirmity_n that_o occasion_n we_o to_o go_v to_o god_n that_o make_v we_o cry_v to_o god_n it_o be_v the_o speech_n of_o a_o heathen_a we_o be_v best_a when_o we_o be_v weak_a why_o as_o he_o say_v very_o well_o who_o be_v ambitious_a voluptuous_a or_o covetous_a for_o the_o world_n when_o he_o be_v sick_a when_o he_o see_v the_o vanity_n of_o these_o thing_n this_o shall_v make_v we_o submit_v more_o meek_o unto_o god_n patient_o when_o we_o be_v under_o his_o hand_n when_o we_o be_v his_o prisoner_n by_o sickness_n when_o he_o cast_v we_o on_o our_o sick_a bed_n because_o god_n be_v work_v our_o good_a he_o be_v draw_v we_o near_o to_o he_o then_o they_o cry_v to_o he_o affliction_n so_o we_o see_v then_o that_o prayer_n it_o be_v a_o remedy_n in_o a_o remediless_a estate_n when_o there_o be_v no_o other_o remedy_n and_o this_o one_o difference_n between_o a_o child_n of_o god_n and_o another_o in_o extremity_n a_o carnal_a man_n that_o have_v not_o grace_n he_o have_v not_o a_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n to_o go_v to_o god_n but_o a_o child_n of_o god_n he_o cry_v to_o god_n he_o have_v acquaintance_n with_o god_n in_o the_o time_n of_o health_n therefore_o he_o go_v bold_o to_o god_n as_o a_o father_n in_o the_o time_n of_o extremity_n god_n child_n can_v answer_v god_n deal_v for_o as_o he_o bring_v his_o child_n to_o extremity_n when_o there_o be_v no_o second_o cause_n to_o help_v so_o they_o answer_v he_o by_o faith_n in_o extremity_n when_o there_o be_v nothing_o to_o trust_v unto_o they_o trust_v he_o when_o there_o be_v no_o physic_n in_o the_o world_n that_o can-charme_n the_o disease_n they_o have_v a_o spirit_n of_o faith_n to_o answer_v god_n deal_v in_o the_o great_a misery_n as_o job_n faith_n though_o he_o kill_v i_o yet_o will_v i_o trust_v in_o he_o for_o god_n be_v not_o tie_v to_o second_o cause_n and_o therefore_o if_o he_o have_v delight_n in_o we_o and_o if_o he_o have_v any_o service_n for_o we_o to_o do_v he_o can_v recover_v we_o from_o the_o gate_n of_o death_n nay_o from_o death_n itself_o as_o we_o see_v christ_n in_o the_o gospel_n raise_v from_o the_o dead_a and_o at_o the_o resurrection_n he_o will_v raise_v we_o from_o death_n much_o more_o can_v he_o raise_v we_o from_o the_o gate_n of_o death_n when_o we_o be_v near_o death_n pray_v therefore_o consider_v that_o pra●er_n be_v a_o remedy_n in_o all_o malady_n in_o a_o remediless_a estate_n let_v we_o labour_n to_o have_v a_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n and_o to_o be_v in_o such_o a_o state_n as_o we_o may_v pray_v sin_n what_o state_n be_v that_o first_o take_v heed_n of_o be_v in_o league_n with_o any_o sin_n if_o i_o regard_v iniquity_n in_o my_o heart_n god_n will_v not_o hear_v my_o prayer_n nay_o he_o will_v not_o hear_v other_o prayer_n for_o we_o oh_o what_o a_o pitiful_a state_n be_v it_o when_o god_n will_v not_o hear_v we_o nor_o other_o for_o we_o pray_v not_o for_o this_o people_n say_v god_n to_o jeremiah_n and_o if_o noah_n daniel_n and_o job_n stand_v before_o i_o they_o shall_v but_o deliver_v their_o own_o soul_n if_o a_o man_n be_v in_o a_o peremptory_a course_n of_o sin_n and_o will_v not_o be_v reclaim_v but_o be_v like_o the_o deaf_a adder_n that_o will_v not_o be_v charm_v god_n will_v not_o hear_v prayer_n for_o he_o will_v god_n hear_v a_o rebel_n when_o he_o come_v to_o he_o for_o mercy_n and_o be_v in_o a_o course_n opposite_a to_o god_n will_v as_o if_o a_o traitor_n shall_v come_v to_o sue_v for_o pardon_n with_o a_o dagger_n in_o his_o hand_n which_o be_v to_o increase_v the_o treason_n so_o when_o a_o man_n come_v to_o god_n and_o cry_n to_o he_o and_o yet_o purpose_v to_o live_v in_o sin_n and_o his_o conscience_n tell_v he_o that_o he_o offer_v violence_n to_o god_n by_o his_o sin_n and_o life_n in_o rebellious_a course_n god_n will_v not_o hear_v his_o prayer_n we_o again_o if_o we_o will_v be_v in_o such_o a_o state_n as_o god_n may_v accept_v we_o when_o we_o come_v to_o he_o let_v we_o hear_v god_n when_o he_o cry_v to_o we_o he_o cry_v to_o we_o in_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n wisdom_n have_v lift_v up_o her_o voice_n and_o this_o be_v god_n course_n he_o will_v hear_v we_o when_o we_o hear_v he_o he_o that_o turn_v his_o ear_n from_o hear_v of_o the_o law_n his_o prayer_n shall_v be_v abominable_a those_o that_o do_v not_o attend_v upon_o god_n ordinance_n that_o will_v have_v a_o kind_n of_o devotion_n private_a to_o themselves_o &_o avoid_v the_o public_a ordinance_n that_o fear_v perhaps_o they_o shall_v hear_v somewhat_o that_o will_v awaken_v their_o conscience_n and_o they_o will_v not_o be_v torment_v before_o their_o time_n let_v they_o consider_v it_o be_v a_o terrible_a speech_n of_o solomon_n he_o that_o turn_v his_o ear_n from_o hear_v the_o law_n his_o prayer_n shall_v be_v abominable_a let_v we_o take_v heed_n it_o be_v a_o fearful_a thing_n to_o be_v in_o such_o a_o estate_n that_o neither_o our_o own_o prayer_n nor_o other_o shall_v be_v regard_v for_o we_o and_o let_v any_o man_n judge_n if_o we_o will_v not_o hear_v god_n speak_v to_o we_o be_v it_o fit_a that_o he_o shall_v hear_v we_o speak_v to_o he_o and_o before_o i_o leave_v the_o point_n let_v i_o press_v it_o a_o little_a further_o at_o this_o time_n we_o have_v cause_n to_o bless_v god_n for_o the_o deliverance_n of_o the_o city_n oh_o but_o let_v all_o that_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n that_o have_v any_o familiarity_n with_o god_n prayer_n improve_v all_o their_o interest_n in_o heaven_n at_o this_o time_n do_v we_o not_o conceive_v what_o danger_n we_o be_v in_o what_o enemy_n we_o have_v provoke_v what_o if_o we_o be_v free_a from_o the_o sickness_n be_v we_o not_o in_o great_a danger_n of_o worse_a matter_n th●n_v the_o sickness_n be_v it_o not_o worse_o to_o fall_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o our_o enemy_n have_v we_o not_o great_a provoke_v cruel_a idolatrous_a enemy_n therefore_o let_v we_o joint_o now_o all_o cry_n
