weak_a in_o grace_n yet_o he_o have_v true_a wisdom_n the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o aunt_n to_o provide_v in_o summer_n against_o a_o rainy_a day_n the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o coney_n to_o build_v in_o the_o rock_n christ_n the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o locust_n to_o join_v with_o other_o and_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o spider_n to_o take_v hold_n on_o those_o beam_n of_o the_o promise_n which_o be_v in_o the_o chamber_n of_o our_o king_n christ_n and_o if_o god_n have_v thus_o recompense_v your_o weakness_n with_o this_o wisdom_n why_o shall_v you_o then_o complain_v quest_n but_o be_v it_o then_o no_o disadvantage_n for_o a_o man_n to_o be_v weak_a in_o grace_n answ_n yes_o much_o very_o â—uch_o there_o be_v many_o disadvantage_n which_o a_o weak_a christian_a lie_n under_o that_o a_o strong_a christian_a do_v not_o you_o see_v how_o the_o weak_a sire_n lie_v sob_v under_o the_o disadvantage_n of_o green_a wood_n which_o the_o strong_a sire_n do_v not_o so_o do_v christ_n smoke_v flax_n lie_v under_o many_o disadvantage_n which_o the_o strong_a christian_a do_v not_o as_o though_o a_o man_n have_v truth_n of_o grace_n yet_o if_o he_o be_v but_o weak_a in_o grace_n he_o be_v more_o apt_a and_o ready_a to_o stumble_v and_o fall_v and_o to_o be_v turn_v out_o of_o the_o way_n heb._n 12.12_o wherefore_o lift_v up_o the_o hand_n which_o hang_v down_o and_o the_o feeble_a knee_n say_v the_o apostle_n lest_o that_o which_o be_v lame_a be_v turn_v out_o of_o the_o way_n a_o weak_a man_n be_v more_o apt_a to_o fall_v than_o a_o strong_a and_o iâ—_n he_o do_v fall_v he_o he_o but_o the_o weak_a christian_a will_v improve_v that_o against_o himself_o which_o be_v in_o truth_n for_o he_o when_o our_o saviour_n christ_n say_v to_o the_o woman_n of_o canaan_n it_o it_o not_o lawful_a to_o cast_v child_n bread_n before_o dog_n she_o make_v a_o advantage_n of_o those_o word_n and_o thereby_o do_v gather_v in_o upon_o christ_n say_v true_a lord_n but_o the_o dog_n eat_v the_o crumb_n that_o fall_v from_o the_o table_n thus_o she_o improve_v that_o for_o herself_o which_o seem_v to_o be_v against_o she_o why_o because_o she_o be_v strong_a in_o faith_n o_o own_o body_n but_o be_v strong_a in_o faith_n be_v persuade_v that_o god_n be_v able_a and_o so_o do_v give_v glory_n unto_o god_n rom._n 4._o a_o weak_a faith_n can_v do_v so_o for_o say_v the_o effect_n of_o it_o it_o begin_v low_a and_o be_v very_o little_a at_o the_o first_o and_o therefore_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v not_o find_v his_o grace_n to_o be_v small_a at_o the_o first_o he_o will_v doubt_v whether_o ever_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n be_v in_o he_o or_o no_o say_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n be_v like_a unto_o a_o grain_n of_o mustardseed_n the_o least_o of_o all_o seed_n fear_n and_o doubt_n this_o be_v my_o condition_n i_o be_o most_o uncomfortable_a therefore_o i_o be_o thus_o discourage_v have_v i_o not_o cause_n and_o reason_n for_o it_o answ_n 1_o no_o for_o though_o the_o weakness_n of_o grace_n be_v usual_o accompany_v with_o doubt_n and_o fear_n and_o the_o strength_n of_o grace_n with_o assurance_n joy_n and_o comfort_n yet_o it_o be_v possible_a that_o a_o man_n may_v have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o grace_n yet_o may_v have_v no_o assurance_n and_o a_o man_n may_v have_v assurance_n not_o doubt_v of_o god_n love_n and_o yet_o may_v have_v but_o little_a grace_n answ_n 2_o you_o must_v know_v that_o there_o be_v a_o difference_n between_o uncomfortableness_n and_o less_o comfort_n if_o a_o man_n be_v possess_v of_o a_o great_a estate_n in_o the_o world_n he_o have_v more_o comfort_n than_o another_o who_o have_v but_o the_o pledge_n and_o earnest_n of_o it_o but_o though_o i_o be_o not_o possess_v of_o it_o yet_o if_o i_o have_v the_o earnest_a and_o pledge_n of_o it_o i_o may_v have_v much_o comfort_n in_o it_o now_o the_o least_o grace_n be_v a_o pledge_n and_o earnest_a of_o more_o yea_o of_o the_o great_a measure_n and_o be_v it_o not_o a_o comfortable_a thing_n for_o a_o man_n to_o have_v the_o pledge_n and_o earnest_n of_o glory_n such_o have_v all_o those_o that_o be_v weak_a though_o they_o be_v but_o weak_a in_o grace_n quest_n but_o how_o shall_v i_o know_v that_o my_o little_a be_v a_o pledge_n and_o earnest_n of_o more_o answ_n 1_o the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n be_v a_o pledge_n and_o earnest_n of_o the_o whole_a inheritance_n and_o though_o you_o can_v do_v so_o much_o service_n for_o your_o heavenly_a father_n as_o your_o elder_n and_o strong_a brother_n do_v yet_o if_o you_o do_v not_o only_o obey_v god_n because_o you_o see_v a_o reason_n in_o his_o commandment_n but_o because_o there_o be_v a_o childlike_a disposition_n in_o you_o then_o have_v you_o the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n and_o so_o your_o little_a be_v a_o certain_a pledge_n of_o more_o answ_n 2_o and_o if_o you_o mourn_v over_o your_o little_a and_o wait_v on_o god_n for_o more_o then_o be_v your_o little_a a_o earnest_n of_o much_o rom._n 8.23_o and_o not_o only_o they_o but_o ourselves_o also_o say_v the_o apostle_n which_o have_v the_o first_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n even_o we_o ourselves_o groan_n within_o our_o selveâ—_n wait_v for_o the_o adoption_n to_o wit_n the_o redemption_n of_o our_o bâ—dy_n he_o prove_v that_o the_o roman_n have_v the_o first-fruit_n the_o pledge_n and_o earnest_n of_o more_o in_o the_o spirit_n by_o their_o groan_a and_o wait_v do_v i_o therefore_o groan_v under_o the_o present_a burden_n of_o my_o own_o weakness_n wait_v upon_o god_n for_o more_o then_o have_v i_o the_o fist-fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o so_o that_o little_a which_o i_o have_v be_v a_o pledge_n and_o earnest_n of_o more_o and_o upon_o this_o account_n though_o your_o grace_n be_v weak_a and_o small_a in_o itself_o yet_o consider_v as_o a_o earnest_n it_o be_v much_o and_o be_v it_o not_o a_o comfortable_a thing_n to_o have_v the_o pledge_n and_o earnest_n
as_o to_o believe_v but_o if_o you_o do_v believe_v be_v in_o christ_n be_v godly_a and_o have_v make_v your_o peace_n with_o god_n bless_a be_v you_o of_o the_o lord_n nothing_o shall_v offend_v you_o nothing_o shall_v discourage_v you_o but_o if_o not_o godly_a if_o not_o in_o christ_n if_o not_o believe_v every_o thing_n shall_v offend_v thou_o and_o discourage_v thou_o and_o thou_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o be_v encourage_v whatever_o thy_o condition_n be_v shall_v we_o not_o then_o my_o belove_a all_o of_o we_o as_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o lord_n serious_o look_v into_o our_o condition_n and_o consider_v whether_o we_o be_v in_o christ_n i_o or_o not_o but_o suppose_v i_o be_v in_o christ_n or_o i_o be_v not_o in_o christ_n believe_v or_o not_o believe_v what_o then_o if_o yet_o you_o do_v not_o believe_v if_o yet_o you_o be_v not_o in_o christ_n if_o yet_o you_o be_v not_o godly_a this_o doctrine_n do_v here_o from_o the_o lord_n hold_v forth_o a_o invitation_n to_o you_o to_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n for_o if_o a_o man_n be_v in_o christ_n and_o be_v godly_a than_o he_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o be_v discourage_v whatever_o his_o condition_n be_v if_o a_o man_n be_v not_o godly_a he_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o be_v encourage_v whatever_o his_o condition_n be_v on_o the_o one_o hand_n there_o lie_v all_o encouragement_n on_o the_o other_o hand_n there_o lie_v all_o discouragement_n now_o therefore_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n do_v i_o here_o this_o morning_n lay_v before_o this_o congregation_n life_n and_o death_n encouragement_n on_o the_o one_o hand_n and_o discouragement_n on_o the_o other_o hand_n and_o if_o there_o be_v a_o adulterer_n a_o swearer_n a_o lie_a child_n or_o a_o steal_v servant_n if_o there_o be_v ever_o a_o poor_a wanton_n a_o sabbath-breaker_n a_o opposer_n of_o god_n here_o i_o beseech_v you_o in_o the_o lord_n come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n by_o all_o these_o encouragement_n that_o i_o have_v be_v speak_v of_o by_o all_o the_o mercy_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n and_o by_o the_o salvation_n of_o thy_o own_o soul_n man_n or_o woman_n i_o beseech_v you_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n o_o that_o man_n and_o woman_n will_v give_v no_o rest_n unto_o themselves_o till_o they_o have_v make_v their_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o till_o they_o have_v get_v into_o jesus_n christ_n and_o in_o case_n that_o encouragement_n see_v that_o you_o walk_v in_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n o_o you_o that_o be_v godly_a if_o these_o thing_n be_v as_o you_o have_v hear_v why_o hang_v you_o down_o your_o head_n why_o be_v you_o cast_v down_o and_o disquiet_v why_o do_v you_o not_o walk_v in_o the_o comfort_n of_o this_o truth_n declare_v and_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o these_o encouragement_n you_o see_v what_o a_o venture_n we_o have_v run_v to_o speak_v comfort_n to_o you_o that_o want_v comfort_n you_o have_v hear_v in_o several_a exercise_n that_o a_o godly_a man_n have_v no_o reason_n for_o his_o discouragement_n whatever_o his_o condition_n be_v not_o in_o regard_n of_o sin_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o fail_n and_o successlessness_n in_o duty_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o want_n of_o assurance_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o temptation_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o affliction_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o desertion_n and_o now_o not_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o condition_n in_o itself_o consider_v now_o after_o all_o this_o i_o appeal_v to_o you_o you_o that_o be_v without_o comfort_n do_v you_o not_o think_v that_o there_o be_v some_o wicked_a man_n in_o this_o congregation_n that_o have_v presume_v when_o they_o have_v hear_v these_o thing_n preach_v and_o have_v say_v these_o thing_n belong_v to_o i_o and_o so_o have_v endanger_v their_o own_o soul_n by_o presumption_n comfort_v themselves_o when_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v comfort_v i_o appeal_v to_o you_o whether_o you_o do_v not_o think_v that_o there_o be_v some_o wicked_a man_n in_o the_o congregation_n that_o have_v thus_o endanger_v their_o soul_n by_o mis-application_n of_o these_o consolation_n and_o if_o so_o that_o there_o have_v be_v this_o hazard_n run_v and_o all_o to_o comfort_v you_o then_o will_v you_o now_o refuse_v this_o comfort_n o_o you_o that_o have_v refuse_v comfort_n all_o this_o while_n receive_v it_o in_o the_o lord_n and_o you_o that_o be_v never_o comfort_v before_o now_o comfort_v yourselves_o and_o walk_v in_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o you_o that_o have_v go_v up_o and_o down_o fear_v tremble_a doubt_v and_o much_o discourage_v yet_o now_o at_o the_o last_o say_v why_o be_v thou_o cast_v down_o o_o my_o soul_n and_o why_o be_v thou_o disquiet_v within_o i_o hope_v in_o god_n wait_v on_o god_n trust_v in_o god_n for_o i_o shall_v yet_o
