after_o as_o it_o may_v be_v from_o the_o admonition_n of_o the_o place_n where_o he_o be_v within_o a_o while_n to_o feel_v the_o renew_n of_o the_o trouble_n in_o great_a measure_n as_o it_o be_v by_o the_o croch_v arrow_n of_o the_o lord_n shoot_v into_o the_o midst_n of_o his_o soul_n so_o as_o it_o can_v not_o be_v pull_v out_o so_o soon_o as_o this_o which_o be_v as_o it_o be_v more_o smooth_o head_v be_v take_v away_o but_o of_o this_o more_o hereafter_o let_v we_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n come_v to_o those_o testimony_n of_o holy_a scripture_n which_o declare_v unto_o we_o the_o trouble_n of_o soul_n or_o inward_a passion_n and_o suffering_n of_o our_o saviour_n which_o fall_v upon_o he_o from_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n at_o such_o time_n as_o his_o betray_n be_v even_o at_o hand_n and_o more_o near_o approach_v these_o be_v either_o in_o the_o chamber_n where_o our_o saviour_n christ_n do_v eat_v the_o passover_o with_o his_o disciple_n at_o even_o or_o else_o the_o same_o night_n a_o few_o hour_n after_o in_o the_o garden_n in_o the_o decline_a or_o valley_n of_o the_o mount_n of_o olive_n even_o in_o gethsemane_n the_o valley_n of_o fatness_n a_o place_n have_v say_v these_o thing_n he_o be_v trouble_v in_o spirit_n and_o testify_v and_o say_v very_o verily_a i_o say_v unto_o you_o that_o one_o of_o you_o will_v betray_v i_o explication_n explication_n this_o be_v a_o short_a speech_n but_o it_o be_v a_o speech_n of_o great_a weight_n and_o importance_n it_o appear_v by_o the_o next_o verse_n where_o it_o be_v say_v that_o peter_n follow_v our_o saviour_n see_v john_n also_o follow_v that_o our_o saviour_n speak_v these_o word_n to_o peter_n follow_v i_o turn_v himself_o as_o mind_v to_o go_v to_o some_o other_o place_n and_o the_o word_n his_o meaning_n be_v to_o desire_v to_o know_v either_o whether_o our_o saviour_n will_v have_v he_o also_o to_o go_v with_o he_o or_o else_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o he_o whether_o he_o shall_v likewise_o be_v put_v to_o death_n or_o no._n as_o though_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v but_o as_o touch_v this_o man_n what_o to_o wit_n shall_v he_o do_v or_o what_o shall_v he_o suffer_v but_o whether_o of_o these_o he_o mind_v the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o the_o answer_n of_o our_o saviour_n will_v show_v that_o it_o be_v a_o curious_a and_o a_o unmeet_a question_n for_o he_o so_o bold_o to_o propound_v the_o occasion_n of_o this_o question_n be_v as_o the_o evangelist_n john_n show_v because_o peter_n turn_v himself_o to_o look_v back_o see_v john_n also_o follow_v our_o saviour_n it_o be_v true_a that_o john_n do_v not_o set_v down_o his_o own_o name_n but_o the_o description_n can_v agree_v to_o none_o but_o to_o himself_o as_o chap_n 13._o verse_n 23.24_o and_o the_o 24._o verse_n of_o this_o 21._o chapter_n do_v plain_o declare_v whence_o also_o we_o may_v perceive_v one_o cause_n why_o he_o do_v thus_o describe_v himself_o that_o be_v for_o the_o credit_n of_o the_o whole_a history_n of_o this_o book_n against_o all_o counterfeit_a gospel_n like_v as_o paul_n for_o the_o same_o purpose_n set_v his_o hand_n to_o all_o his_o epistle_n that_o they_o may_v move_v to_o ask_v this_o question_n insomuch_o as_o he_o think_v it_o strange_a that_o our_o saviour_n shall_v take_v he_o alone_o with_o he_o now_o when_o he_o be_v wont_a to_o call_v his_o belove_a disciple_n john_n also_o when_o he_o go_v a_o part_n as_o we_o read_v mark_v chap_n 5.37_o and_o chap_n 9.2_o and_o again_o chap_n 14.33_o and_o thus_o we_o may_v see_v how_o literal_o as_o be_v note_v before_o our_o saviour_n bid_v peter_n to_o follow_v he_o with_o his_o bodily_a foot_n though_o he_o intend_v to_o teach_v he_o a_o other_o kind_n of_o follow_v as_o we_o shall_v see_v further_o by_o the_o answer_n of_o our_o saviour_n this_o answer_n of_o our_o saviour_n have_v two_o part_n the_o first_o be_v a_o reprehension_n of_o peter_n question_n the_o second_o be_v a_o repetition_n of_o his_o former_a commandment_n follow_v thou_o i_o by_o the_o reprehension_n we_o may_v easy_o perceive_v that_o peter_n question_n be_v curious_a and_o unbeseeming_a he_o for_o to_o ask_v special_o at_o this_o time_n when_o he_o ought_v rather_o to_o have_v hold_v his_o thought_n and_o meditation_n upon_o the_o revelation_n and_o commandment_n which_o our_o saviour_n give_v he_o concern_v himself_o and_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o be_v one_o cause_n why_o he_o take_v he_o so_o aside_o whereby_o we_o may_v just_o learn_v this_o lesson_n that_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o
