abroad_o or_o foreign_a invasion_n or_o to_o robber_n and_o thief_n at_o home_n it_o will_v do_v we_o little_a good_a and_o yet_o this_o peace_n without_o godliness_n be_v nothing_o worth_a as_o if_o we_o have_v not_o the_o mean_n of_o our_o salvation_n and_o may_v not_o thus_o come_v to_o the_o church_n to_o serve_v god_n according_a to_o his_o word_n and_o to_o lead_v our_o life_n thereafter_o and_o if_o we_o have_v these_o yet_o if_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o honesty_n among_o man_n nor_o any_o true_a deal_n one_o with_o another_o so_o that_o one_o man_n may_v not_o trust_v another_o but_o there_o be_v lie_v deceive_a oppression_n and_o such_o like_a without_o controlment_n now_o all_o these_o benefit_n of_o peace_n honesty_n and_o godliness_n we_o have_v by_o the_o mean_n of_o our_o king_n especial_o we_o may_v look_v for_o they_o under_o his_o government_n peaceable_o 1._o as_o to_o live_v peaceable_o for_o as_o for_o foreign_a enemy_n and_o invasion_n which_o in_o former_a time_n we_o have_v be_v in_o fear_n of_o he_o be_v in_o league_n with_o all_o christian_a prince_n round_o about_o he_o so_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o need_v to_o fear_v they_o and_o as_o for_o tumultuous_a and_o disorder_a person_n at_o home_n the_o law_n be_v still_o in_o force_n to_o suppress_v they_o and_o it_o be_v like_o that_o new_a shall_v be_v make_v if_o there_o be_v any_o cause_n and_o though_o some_o do_v break_v out_o in_o hope_n of_o the_o king_n pardon_n yet_o for_o the_o time_n present_a the_o law_n will_v take_v hold_n of_o they_o and_o how_o far_o his_o gracious_a pardon_n will_v extend_v they_o know_v not_o we_o may_v be_v sure_a that_o all_o such_o shall_v be_v exempt_v who_o do_v evil_a before_o hand_n in_o hope_n of_o it_o godly_o 2._o godly_o and_o we_o hope_v to_o live_v godly_o under_o he_o for_o we_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o the_o gospel_n shall_v be_v continue_v and_o we_o hope_v that_o the_o estate_n of_o it_o shall_v be_v better_v and_o though_o the_o papist_n seek_v for_o a_o toleration_n of_o their_o superstition_n and_o comfort_v themselves_o with_o false_a promise_n that_o way_n yet_o we_o hope_v that_o their_o eye_n shall_v obstinate_o that_o they_o seek_v for_o it_o the_o more_o earnest_o have_v we_o need_v to_o pray_v to_o god_n for_o the_o king_n to_o be_v zealous_a against_o they_o honest_o 3._o honest_o last_o we_o hope_v to_o live_v honest_o under_o he_o for_o he_o seek_v already_o the_o good_a of_o all_o his_o subject_n as_o appear_v by_o his_o proclamation_n wherein_o he_o have_v give_v all_o man_n that_o be_v any_o way_n oppress_v to_o complain_v of_o their_o grief_n yea_o though_o it_o be_v against_o they_o that_o be_v in_o authority_n with_o good_a hope_n of_o find_v relief_n he_o have_v also_o majesty_n be_v interress_v in_o some_o of_o they_o and_o some_o under_o the_o colour_n and_o pretence_n of_o that_o hope_v still_o to_o retain_v they_o therefore_o when_o we_o have_v and_o look_v still_o to_o enjoy_v such_o great_a benefit_n by_o his_o most_o gracious_a government_n what_o great_a cause_n have_v we_o to_o pray_v for_o he_o king_n what_o cause_n we_o have_v to_o pray_v for_o the_o life_n of_o our_o king_n and_o the_o great_a that_o these_o benefit_n be_v the_o more_o cause_n have_v we_o to_o pray_v for_o his_o life_n by_o who_o next_o under_o god_n we_o look_v to_o have_v they_o continue_v for_o if_o he_o shall_v miscarry_v which_o god_n of_o his_o great_a mercy_n keep_v from_o we_o than_o all_o these_o great_a blessing_n may_v go_v away_o with_o he_o at_o once_o for_o though_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n he_o have_v issue_n of_o his_o own_o body_n lawful_o beget_v in_o holy_a matrimony_n who_o shall_v sit_v in_o the_o throne_n of_o the_o kingdom_n after_o he_o that_o we_o may_v so_o rejoice_v in_o all_o god_n benefit_n and_o ordinance_n &_o so_o use_v they_o with_o joy_n that_o he_o may_v be_v praise_v for_o they_o which_o he_o also_o grant_v unto_o we_o this_o be_v not_o once_o but_o three_o time_n at_o the_o least_o set_v down_o in_o that_o book_n in_o the_o beginning_n midst_n and_o end_v of_o two_o notable_a and_o famous_a story_n which_o show_v what_o kind_n of_o life_n be_v then_o among_o they_o even_o such_o as_o be_v neither_o peaceable_a and_o quiet_a nor_o honest_a nor_o godly_a the_o one_o be_v of_o the_o levit_n concubine_n abuse_v and_o oppess_v even_o unto_o death_n &_o the_o other_o be_v of_o that_o idolatry_n which_o begin_v in_o the_o house_n of_o micah_n and_o so_o do_v spread_v itself_o over_o the_o whole_a tribe_n of_o dan_n and_o of_o the_o rest_n beside_o that_o the_o levite_n and_o minister_n of_o god_n be_v neglect_v then_o and_o not_o sufficient_o provide_v for_o in_o the_o narration_n of_o which_o this_o be_v often_o interlace_v as_o a_o grave_a sentence_n show_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o that_o disorder_n in_o those_o day_n there_o be_v no_o king_n or_o supreme_a governor_n in_o israel_n and_o so_o every_o man_n do_v that_o which_o be_v good_a in_o his_o own_o eye_n as_o if_o it_o have_v be_v say_v sure_o if_o they_o have_v have_v any_o good_a governor_n among_o they_o and_o namely_o one_o chief_a to_o oversee_v and_o rule_v the_o rest_n these_o abuse_n have_v never_o break_v out_o or_o if_o they_o have_v they_o shall_v never_o have_v grow_v to_o such_o a_o head_n beside_o this_o where_o there_o be_v a_o continual_a succession_n of_o king_n yet_o even_o in_o the_o change_n of_o they_o to_o death_n without_o a_o special_a grace_n and_o blessing_n of_o god_n there_o be_v great_a danger_n of_o change_n in_o the_o state_n of_o the_o people_n therefore_o all_o people_n have_v need_v to_o pray_v for_o the_o life_n health_n &_o preservation_n of_o their_o king_n that_o so_o themselves_o may_v rejoice_v as_o they_o do_v here_o and_o for_o proof_n of_o this_o we_o may_v easy_o conceive_v how_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n do_v flourish_v and_o abound_v in_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o day_n of_o king_n solomon_n by_o that_o which_o be_v write_v of_o they_o he_o be_v a_o peaceable_a prince_n and_o so_o the_o people_n have_v peace_n and_o wealth_n 10.27_o 1._o king_n 4.25_o &_o 10.27_o for_o every_o man_n do_v sit_v quiet_o under_o his_o vine_n and_o under_o his_o fig_n tree_n and_o none_o do_v raise_v they_o up_o and_o in_o his_o day_n silver_n be_v as_o plentiful_a as_o the_o stone_n in_o the_o street_n and_o cedar_n in_o as_o great_a abundance_n as_o the_o wild_a fig_n tree_n which_o grow_v abundant_o in_o the_o plain_a and_o such_o almost_o be_v our_o case_n all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o renown_a and_o worthy_a queen_n elizabeth_n for_o we_o have_v peace_n and_o wealth_n with_o the_o gospel_n also_o in_o great_a abundance_n but_o when_o solomon_n die_v state_n for_o in_o the_o death_n of_o the_o prince_n there_o be_v great_a fear_n of_o alteration_n to_o the_o state_n what_o great_a alteration_n be_v there_o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o israel_n when_o his_o son_n rehoboham_n refuse_v the_o ancient_a counsellor_n of_o his_o father_n and_o choose_v new_a in_o their_o room_n like_v to_o himself_o whereupon_o there_o grow_v a_o faction_n and_o division_n first_o among_o the_o noble_n and_o then_o among_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o people_n so_o that_o ten_o part_n of_o his_o people_n fall_v clean_o away_o from_o he_o &_o from_o god_n too_o even_o to_o idolatry_n and_o to_o the_o golden_a calf_n in_o dan_n and_o bethel_n so_o that_o there_o be_v much_o war_n between_o they_o and_o bloodshed_n among_o they_o now_o when_o all_o this_o fall_v out_o how_o do_v they_o see_v by_o experience_n that_o they_o have_v cause_n before_o to_o pray_v for_o the_o life_n of_o solomon_n their_o king_n as_o the_o chief_a and_o only_a cause_n of_o their_o welfare_n and_o joy_n so_o we_o in_o like_a manner_n have_v great_a cause_n in_o this_o respect_n to_o pray_v for_o the_o life_n of_o our_o queen_n as_o we_o do_v to_o preserve_v she_o both_o against_o foreign_a invasion_n intend_v and_o also_o secret_a treason_n and_o practice_n at_o home_n for_o in_o her_o life_n we_o have_v great_a cause_n of_o joy_n and_o in_o all_o deliverance_n of_o she_o from_o danger_n which_o be_v many_o and_o great_a we_o have_v cause_n still_o to_o rejoice_v and_o so_o in_o her_o long_a life_n we_o do_v enjoy_v the_o fruit_n of_o our_o prayer_n for_o we_o do_v so_o much_o the_o more_o and_o long_o rejoice_v in_o she_o and_o in_o all_o benefit_n which_o we_o enjoy_v by_o she_o and_o we_o have_v just_a cause_n to_o fear_v that_o in_o her_o death_n we_o shall_v have_v have_v more_o cause_n of_o sorrow_n than_o by_o the_o grace_n and_o mercy_n of_o god_n we_o have_v but_o now_o we_o will_v be_v loath_a to_o have_v any_o more_o change_n on_o the_o sudden_a and_o therefore_o we_o be_v to_o pray_v earnest_o unto_o god_n for_o this_o our_o sovereign_a king_n james_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o

governor_n of_o family_n to_o those_o that_o be_v commit_v to_o they_o the_o parent_n father_n and_o mother_n or_o the_o master_n and_o mistress_n or_o dame_n may_v and_o aught_o without_o any_o imputation_n from_o any_o teach_v their_o son_n and_o daughter_n their_o maid_n servant_n and_o man_n servant_n what_o be_v their_o duty_n not_o only_o and_o principal_o to_o god_n but_o to_o other_o even_o to_o themselves_o and_o these_o inferior_n must_v patient_o hear_v they_o and_o not_o be_v offend_v at_o it_o but_o willing_a to_o learn_v and_o do_v they_o for_o beside_o that_o they_o shall_v thus_o think_v of_o themselves_o that_o they_o be_v in_o place_n to_o teach_v they_o and_o so_o they_o must_v receive_v instruction_n at_o their_o mouth_n the_o governor_n also_o do_v know_v that_o godliness_n wisdom_n and_o christian_n modesty_n another_o and_o one_o neighbour_n may_v thus_o teach_v another_o may_v tell_v other_o what_o duty_n they_o owe_v to_o they_o in_o respect_n of_o public_o or_o any_o other_o private_o tell_v we_o what_o we_o shall_v do_v to_o god_n or_o to_o our_o king_n or_o to_o our_o governor_n or_o to_o our_o parent_n or_o to_o our_o neighbour_n we_o may_v happy_o with_o quietness_n hear_v it_o yet_o it_o be_v to_o be_v wish_v that_o all_o will_v do_v so_o but_o if_o he_o come_v to_o show_v what_o god_n require_v to_o be_v do_v to_o himself_o and_o to_o his_o ministry_n than_o they_o be_v ready_a to_o take_v exception_n against_o it_o and_o they_o think_v that_o they_o may_v lawful_o gainsay_v it_o at_o least_o wise_a pause_n upon_o it_o and_o say_v such_o kind_n of_o teach_v we_o have_v need_v to_o be_v put_v in_o mind_n of_o it_o and_o to_o be_v make_v acquaint_v with_o it_o so_o much_o the_o more_o and_o thus_o we_o conclude_v by_o the_o example_n of_o david_n in_o give_v this_o form_n of_o prayer_n in_o his_o behalf_n conclusion_n the_o conclusion_n and_o of_o the_o people_n in_o use_v it_o for_o he_o and_o so_o do_v willing_o perform_v this_o duty_n of_o prayer_n for_o their_o king_n though_o he_o teach_v it_o they_o that_o it_o be_v lawful_a for_o the_o minister_n of_o god_n to_o teach_v public_o in_o their_o sermon_n such_o duty_n as_o belong_v to_o themselves_o yea_o and_o for_o all_o sort_n of_o man_n private_o to_o admonish_v their_o neighbour_n and_o brethren_n of_o the_o like_a without_o any_o just_a suspicion_n of_o ill_a meaning_n and_o that_o all_o inferior_n must_v with_o meekness_n and_o reverence_n receive_v such_o instruction_n willing_o at_o their_o mouth_n and_o be_v swift_a to_o hear_v they_o and_o slow_a to_o reply_v or_o speak_v against_o they_o and_o be_v careful_a to_o follow_v they_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o not_o to_o think_v much_o of_o it_o that_o they_o shall_v come_v thus_o near_o they_o as_o to_o press_v upon_o they_o such_o duty_n as_o they_o owe_v not_o any_o to_o other_o but_o to_o themselves_o see_v god_n have_v ordain_v one_o of_o we_o to_o help_v benefit_n may_v be_v continue_v but_o that_o we_o may_v still_o rejoice_v in_o they_o as_o now_o we_o do_v and_o let_v we_o be_v persuade_v that_o as_o long_o as_o god_n shall_v preserve_v he_o out_o
