have_v speak_v so_o brief_o of_o so_o rich_a a_o purpose_n but_o to_o the_o end_n that_o he_o may_v glorify_v the_o grace_n and_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o support_v he_o in_o his_o strait_n and_o deliver_v he_o from_o it_o and_o that_o he_o may_v edify_v the_o church_n he_o enlarge_v the_o narration_n and_o speak_v more_o particular_o of_o every_o step_n of_o it_o and_o first_o he_o show_v the_o greatness_n of_o his_o trial_n in_o that_o he_o have_v to_o do_v with_o a_o angry_a god_n pursue_v he_o in_o anger_n who_o have_v take_v and_o cast_v he_o into_o the_o sea_n and_o into_o the_o depth_n and_o midst_n of_o it_o where_o wave_n of_o sea_n without_o and_o of_o tentation_n within_o overwhelm_v he_o hence_o learn_v 1._o serious_n thought_n and_o apprehension_n of_o trouble_n be_v needful_a not_o only_a when_o we_o be_v in_o it_o for_o stir_v we_o up_o to_o prayer_n but_o when_o deliver_v also_o to_o set_v forth_o the_o greatness_n of_o mercy_n for_o all_o this_o variety_n of_o expression_n in_o set_v out_o his_o trouble_n thou_o have_v cast_v i_o into_o the_o depth_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o sea_n etc._n etc._n tend_v to_o this_o purpose_n to_o show_v that_o it_o have_v set_v he_o on_o edge_n i_o cry_v for_o thou_o have_v cast_v i_o etc._n etc._n and_o to_o show_v from_o how_o great_a danger_n he_o have_v be_v deliver_v and_o what_o a_o mercy_n he_o think_v it_o to_o be_v hear_v of_o god_n even_o when_o he_o be_v so_o deal_v with_o he_o 2._o much_o of_o god_n see_v in_o our_o trouble_n will_v hide_v those_o from_o be_v too_o much_o eye_v who_o have_v be_v most_o instrumental_a and_o active_a in_o it_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o word_n of_o the_o mariner_n but_z thou_o have_v cast_v i_o into_o the_o deep_a 3._o unto_o the_o child_n of_o god_n affliction_n be_v nothing_o to_o bear_v in_o comparison_n of_o god_n displeasure_n who_o afflict_v and_o of_o the_o tentation_n which_o look_v on_o he_o as_o a_o party_n do_v raise_v for_o his_o affliction_n be_v embitter_v with_o this_o thou_o be_v angry_a have_v cast_v i_o into_o the_o sea_n all_o thy_o billow_n and_o thy_o wave_n not_o only_o raise_v by_o thou_o in_o the_o sea_n to_o displeasure_n for_o the_o scope_n of_o all_o this_o account_n of_o his_o trial_n and_o tentation_n tend_v also_o to_o set_v forth_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n that_o have_v enable_v he_o to_o cry_v to_o he_o in_o all_o this_o extremity_n it_o be_v the_o admirable_a power_n of_o faith_n support_v by_o grace_n that_o he_o dare_v call_v on_o a_o angry_a god_n dare_v follow_v after_o he_o when_o he_o go_v away_o dare_v lay_v hold_n of_o he_o when_o he_o smorte_n and_o pray_v he_o to_o desist_v from_o anger_n when_o he_o be_v threaten_v he_o with_o worse_a and_o dare_v look_v and_o seek_v for_o better_a tiding_n when_o he_o be_v run_v down_o with_o the_o current_n and_o tide_n of_o tentation_n ver._n 4._o then_o i_o say_v i_o be_o cast_v out_o of_o thy_o sight_n yet_o i_o will_v look_v again_o towards_o thy_o holy_a temple_n he_o rehearse_v further_o his_o exercise_n upon_o this_o trial_n that_o there_o be_v a_o conflict_n betwixt_o unbelief_n and_o despair_n conclude_v his_o rejection_n from_o god_n favour_n and_o care_v any_o more_o and_o faith_n look_v to_o god_n in_o heaven_n and_o the_o covenant_n make_v in_o christ_n with_o the_o elect_n a_o sign_n whereof_o be_v thy_o sight_n 4._o a_o child_n of_o god_n may_v not_o only_o be_v assault_v with_o fit_n of_o despair_n but_o for_o a_o time_n be_v overcome_v with_o it_o and_o yield_v to_o it_o and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o recover_v his_o foot_n again_o for_o jonah_n once_o conclude_v and_o say_v i_o be_o cast_v out_o of_o thy_o sight_n 5._o as_o it_o be_v ordinary_a under_o tentation_n to_o judge_v of_o all_o god_n respect_n care_n and_o love_n by_o our_o sense_n of_o his_o present_a deal_n so_o
