even_o from_o aaron_n time_n and_o yet_o now_o they_o cease_v to_o be_v the_o true_a church_n of_o god_n and_o be_v reject_v from_o the_o priesthood_n it_o be_v not_o therefore_o the_o succession_n of_o the_o ministry_n but_o their_o knowledge_n and_o painful_a diligence_n in_o teach_v the_o people_n which_o approve_v they_o to_o be_v the_o true_a minister_n of_o god_n and_o where_o these_o be_v they_o be_v a_o infallible_a note_n of_o god_n true_a church_n but_o when_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o word_n be_v neglect_v either_o through_o ignorance_n or_o idleness_n there_o be_v no_o ministry_n suffer_v we_o to_o go_v on_o in_o the_o way_n of_o perdition_n but_o if_o we_o no_o soon_o resolve_v upon_o some_o wicked_a design_n but_o straight_o we_o be_v either_o cross_v in_o it_o or_o afterward_o afflict_v that_o we_o can_v proceed_v in_o it_o as_o we_o purpose_v sure_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o the_o lord_n have_v a_o care_n of_o we_o in_o that_o he_o hold_v we_o back_o from_o oftentimes_o neither_o consider_v who_o have_v set_v this_o hedge_n in_o our_o way_n nor_o for_o what_o cause_n but_o be_v ready_a to_o ascribe_v our_o affliction_n to_o chance_n and_o fortune_n to_o our_o own_o want_n of_o providence_n to_o the_o malice_n of_o our_o enemy_n or_o some_o secondary_a cause_n therefore_o the_o lord_n will_v they_o to_o behold_v and_o to_o consider_v that_o he_o it_o be_v that_o set_v this_o hedge_n in_o their_o way_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n in_o that_o they_o have_v resolve_v to_o go_v forward_o in_o their_o sin_n that_o know_v the_o meritorious_a cause_n of_o their_o punishment_n to_o be_v their_o sin_n they_o may_v labour_v to_o take_v they_o away_o by_o true_a repentance_n and_o know_v the_o lord_n to_o be_v the_o author_n of_o they_o they_o may_v from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n jesus_n rom._n 8._o 38._o 39_o four_o here_o we_o learn_v most_o careful_o to_o take_v heed_n that_o affliction_n we_o must_v not_o leap_v over_o the_o hedge_n of_o affliction_n we_o do_v not_o when_o the_o lord_n set_v this_o hedge_n in_o our_o way_n to_o restrain_v we_o from_o sin_n leap_v over_o it_o for_o if_o the_o fence_n be_v not_o strong_a and_o that_o with_o great_a anxiety_n of_o mind_n care_n and_o earnest_a endeavour_n for_o so_o the_o word_n here_o use_v signify_v the_o second_o be_v that_o god_n make_v frustrate_v all_o their_o labour_n so_o as_o they_o follow_v and_o seek_v after_o they_o in_o vain_a concern_v the_o first_o after_o these_o idolater_n be_v afflict_v for_o their_o sin_n and_o so_o hedge_v in_o with_o trouble_n and_o inextricable_a misery_n that_o they_o can_v not_o tell_v what_o course_n to_o take_v nor_o which_o way_n to_o turn_v themselves_o yet_o they_o do_v not_o present_o turn_v unto_o the_o lord_n and_o repent_v of_o their_o sin_n nay_o rather_o they_o endeavour_n to_o flee_v from_o he_o and_o to_o seek_v help_n of_o their_o idol_n and_o as_o though_o all_o these_o affliction_n have_v betide_v they_o because_o they_o have_v be_v no_o more_o zealous_a and_o devout_a in_o their_o superstition_n and_o idolatry_n therefore_o they_o double_v their_o diligence_n and_o with_o great_a care_n and_o endeavour_n they_o worship_v and_o serve_v their_o idol_n hope_v and_o expect_v deliverance_n from_o they_o as_o a_o reward_n of_o all_o their_o pain_n wherein_o the_o prophet_n allude_v to_o the_o practice_n of_o adulterous_a wife_n who_o when_o they_o be_v restrain_v in_o their_o wicked_a course_n by_o their_o husband_n jealous_a and_o watchful_a eye_n or_o by_o some_o rough_a and_o strict_a course_n do_v not_o present_o forsake_v their_o lover_n and_o amend_v but_o rather_o study_v and_o invent_v out_o mean_n how_o they_o may_v escape_v out_o of_o their_o husband_n custody_n and_o again_o come_v into_o their_o lover_n company_n or_o else_o to_o the_o manner_n of_o beast_n and_o cattle_n who_o be_v restrain_v with_o a_o new_a fence_n from_o their_o old_a haunt_n do_v not_o impudent_o then_o in_o former_a time_n for_o whereas_o this_o adulterous_a spouse_n though_o she_o be_v resolve_v to_o live_v in_o uncleanness_n yet_o rather_o shall_v have_v be_v seek_v unto_o by_o her_o lover_n then_o to_o seek_v after_o they_o she_o contrary_a to_o all_o womanhood_n so_o far_o exceed_v the_o bound_n of_o modesty_n be_v transport_v with_o the_o blind_a fury_n of_o her_o lust_n follow_v after_o they_o when_o she_o be_v neglect_v and_o seek_v they_o when_o she_o be_v not_o seek_v but_o here_o it_o may_v be_v demand_v how_o she_o can_v be_v say_v to_o follow_v and_o seek_v attain_v unto_o her_o desire_n but_o still_o notwithstanding_o she_o desire_v she_o be_v hedge_v in_o but_o nevertheless_o she_o wander_v about_o to_o find_v a_o gap_n she_o can_v not_o indeed_o endeavour_n to_o break_v through_o the_o hedge_n of_o affliction_n which_o he_o have_v set_v about_o she_o to_o the_o end_n that_o she_o may_v again_o with_o like_a prosperity_n as_o in_o former_a time_n follow_v her_o lover_n and_o live_v in_o her_o whoredom_n yet_o she_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o accomplish_v her_o desire_n though_o she_o shall_v seek_v her_o idol_n with_o more_o than_o ordinary_a devotion_n pray_v proffer_v unto_o they_o sacrifice_n and_o oblation_n to_o the_o end_n that_o by_o their_o help_n she_o may_v be_v free_v out_o of_o her_o affliction_n and_o attain_v unto_o her_o former_a prosperity_n which_o in_o her_o blind_a ignorance_n and_o superstition_n she_o ascribe_v unto_o they_o yet_o she_o shall_v spend_v all_o her_o labour_n in_o vain_a see_v her_o find_v they_o both_o able_a and_o willing_a to_o relieve_v they_o this_o be_v a_o strong_a argument_n to_o work_v in_o they_o patience_n but_o if_o either_o they_o can_v come_v at_o they_o who_o they_o most_o trust_v and_o rely_v upon_o or_o else_o find_v they_o altogether_o unable_a to_o do_v they_o any_o good_a than_o the_o frustrate_v of_o their_o hope_n be_v add_v to_o the_o weight_n of_o their_o misery_n and_o affliction_n overwhelm_v and_o press_v they_o down_o and_o make_v their_o burden_n unsupportable_a and_o this_o be_v the_o first_o effect_n of_o the_o church_n affliction_n the_o second_o be_v express_v in_o these_o word_n then_o shall_v she_o say_v i_o will_v go_v and_o return_v to_o my_o first_o husband_n for_o at_o that_o time_n be_v i_o better_a than_o now_o in_o idol_n and_o enjoy_v her_o former_a prosperity_n after_o she_o have_v long_o in_o vain_a seek_v for_o help_n and_o deliverance_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o her_o idol_n and_o have_v now_o no_o hope_n by_o their_o mean_n either_o to_o come_v out_o of_o her_o present_a misery_n or_o to_o enjoy_v her_o former_a prosperity_n be_v destitute_a of_o all_o other_o help_n then_o she_o shall_v say_v that_o be_v she_o shall_v resolve_v and_o determine_v yea_o and_o also_o profess_v this_o her_o purpose_n and_o resolution_n that_o she_o will_v no_o long_o sit_v still_o in_o this_o misery_n and_o suffer_v
