world_n nature_n teach_v this_o to_o dissemble_v to_o turn_v and_o wind_n etc._n etc._n a_o man_n need_v not_o to_o plough_v to_o have_v weed_n the_o ground_n itself_o be_v a_o mother_n to_o they_o though_o it_o be_v a_o stepmother_n simile_n to_o good_a seed_n so_o we_o need_v not_o teach_v man_n to_o dissemble_v every_o man_n have_v it_o by_o nature_n but_o it_o must_v be_v strength_n of_o deal_v plain_o and_o direct_o and_o of_o all_o other_o sin_n as_o i_o say_v before_o remember_v this_o be_v that_o which_o will_v lie_v the_o heavy_a on_o we_o as_o come_v near_a the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n for_o what_o be_v the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n when_o man_n rush_v against_o their_o knowledge_n in_o malice_n to_o the_o truth_n know_v where_o there_o be_v most_o knowledge_n and_o most_o will_n there_o be_v the_o great_a sin_n now_o in_o lie_v and_o dissemble_v and_o double-dealing_a a_o man_n come_v near_o to_o the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n for_o and_o by_o double_v in_o the_o world_n they_o have_v not_o faith_n to_o depend_v upon_o god_n in_o good_a and_o plain_a downright_a course_n man_n be_v ready_a to_o say_v if_o i_o shall_v not_o dissemble_v and_o double_a and_o carry_v thing_n after_o that_o manner_n who_o shall_v i_o live_v why_o where_o be_v thy_o faith_n the_o righteous_a man_n live_v by_o his_o faith_n and_o not_o by_o his_o shift_n not_o by_o his_o wit_n god_n will_v provide_v for_o we_o be_v we_o not_o in_o covenant_n with_o god_n do_v we_o not_o profess_v to_o be_v god_n child_n do_v child_n use_v to_o shift_v no_o a_o child_n go_v about_o to_o do_v his_o father_n will_n and_o pleasure_n and_o he_o know_v that_o he_o will_v maintain_v he_o it_o be_v against_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n as_o far_o as_o he_o know_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o child_n of_o god_n to_o use_v any_o indirect_a course_n any_o wind_n and_o turn_n in_o his_o call_n let_v we_o depend_v upon_o god_n as_o a_o child_n depend_v on_o his_o father_n and_o of_o all_o other_o god_n will_v provide_v most_o for_o they_o that_o in_o simple_a honesty_n in_o plain_a downright_a deal_n depend_v on_o he_o in_o do_v good_a for_o god_n account_v it_o a_o prerogative_n to_o defend_v and_o maintain_v they_o that_o cast_v themselves_o on_o he_o he_o will_v be_v their_o wisdom_n that_o can_v deny_v their_o own_o wisdom_n and_o their_o own_o shift_n by_o nature_n and_o in_o conscience_n labour_n to_o deal_v direct_o he_o will_v be_v wise_a for_o they_o and_o provide_v for_o they_o it_o be_v his_o prerogative_n and_o nay_o nay_o at_o divers_a time_n indeed_o s._n paul_n reserve_v this_o he_o promise_v to_o come_v to_o they_o if_o god_n do_v permit_v with_o a_o divine_a reservation_n we_o may_v say_v in_o nay_o he_o seem_v to_o make_v a_o difference_n between_o yea_o and_o nay_o in_o civil_a thing_n and_o in_o divine_a there_o be_v a_o difference_n when_o a_o holy_a man_n speak_v of_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o life_n and_o when_o he_o speak_v of_o divine_a truth_n s._n paul_n promise_v to_o come_v to_o they_o he_o mean_v it_o honest_o and_o do_v intend_v it_o but_o it_o be_v subject_a to_o alteration_n because_o god_n stop_v our_o purpose_n in_o this_o life_n yea_o our_o good_a purpose_n many_o time_n good_a thing_n may_v have_v variety_n one_o good_a thing_n may_v be_v more_o convenient_a than_o another_o and_o the_o cause_n why_o he_o come_v not_o to_o they_o be_v not_o his_o inconstancy_n but_o their_o unfitnesse_n it_o be_v from_o their_o corruption_n in_o manner_n and_o in_o doctrine_n they_o be_v not_o ready_a as_o he_o say_v after_o he_o come_v not_o to_o spare_v they_o they_o be_v unfit_a till_o they_o be_v humble_v with_o his_o former_a epistle_n and_o then_o when_o they_o be_v humble_v he_o purpose_v to_o come_v but_o now_o in_o divine_a truth_n what_o thing_n he_o speak_v to_o they_o concern_v grace_n and_o glory_n that_o be_v certain_a our_o word_n to_o you_o be_v not_o yea_o and_o nay_o a_o question_n may_v be_v move_v brief_o how_o s._n paul_n can_v be_v deceive_v in_o his_o journey_n and_o not_o in_o his_o doctrine_n be_v so_o good_a a_o man_n lead_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o quest._n god_n how_o can_v he_o promise_v to_o come_v and_o yet_o do_v not_o i_o answer_v the_o difference_n be_v much_o between_o these_o two_o s._n paul_n have_v three_o person_n on_o he_o person_n he_o be_v a_o man._n christian_n man_n a_o apostle_n as_o a_o man_n he_o be_v subject_a to_o all_o thing_n that_o man_n be_v subject_a unto_o that_o be_v he_o desire_v in_o truth_n of_o heart_n to_o come_v and_o visit_v his_o friend_n he_o purpose_v a_o journey_n with_o a_o reservation_n that_o god_n may_v hinder_v he_o and_o so_o as_o a_o man_n he_o may_v have_v a_o yea_o that_o be_v a_o purpose_n to_o do_v a_o thing_n and_o afterward_o a_o nay_o upon_o the_o uncertain_a event_n of_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o life_n so_o as_o a_o man_n he_o purpose_v to_o come_v nay_o as_o a_o holy_a man_n he_o purpose_v a_o journey_n to_o a_o good_a purpose_n to_o establish_v they_o but_o with_o a_o reservation_n if_o god_n permit_v god_n may_v stop_v his_o journey_n but_o as_o a_o apostle_n he_o teach_v other_o thing_n then_o speak_v of_o journey_n that_o he_o speak_v of_o only_a as_o a_o man_n and_o as_o a_o holy_a man_n always_o suppose_v the_o condition_n of_o humane_a thing_n and_o under_o permission_n if_o god_n permit_v but_o as_o a_o apostle_n he_o be_v not_o yea_o and_o nay_o there_o he_o be_v certain_a as_o a_o apostle_n he_o speak_v divine_a truth_n and_o be_v guide_v infallible_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n he_o deliver_v truth_n without_o all_o condition_n and_o exception_n as_o a_o apostle_n he_o do_v not_o admit_v of_o any_o such_o uncertainty_n there_o be_v a_o eminency_n and_o excellency_n in_o divine_a truth_n it_o be_v stable_n and_o firm_a and_o not_o subject_a to_o variety_n and_o inconstancy_n so_o his_o doctrine_n as_o a_o apostle_n be_v always_o yea_o for_o his_o journey_n and_o come_v to_o they_o he_o promise_v his_o journey_n in_o veritate_fw-la propositi_fw-la in_o the_o truth_n of_o a_o good_a purpose_n of_o a_o friend_n but_o as_o he_o speak_v of_o divine_a truth_n he_o speak_v of_o they_o in_o the_o certainty_n of_o the_o divine_a spirit_n in_o the_o one_o he_o speak_v in_o the_o certainty_n of_o truth_n in_o the_o other_o in_o the_o truth_n of_o affection_n as_o a_o man_n he_o speak_v in_o the_o truth_n of_o a_o good_a affection_n he_o bear_v to_o they_o but_o as_o a_o apostle_n he_o speak_v in_o the_o certainty_n of_o divine_a truth_n and_o you_o must_v know_v this_o that_o god_n as_o he_o use_v the_o apostle_n and_o excellent_a man_n man_n to_o write_v his_o book_n to_o write_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o be_v his_o penman_n yet_o he_o hinder_v they_o not_o to_o be_v man_n as_o he_o hinder_v not_o godly_a man_n to_o be_v man_n but_o at_o once_o they_o may_v be_v saint_n and_o man_n so_o saint_n paul_n as_o a_o good_a man_n desire_v to_o see_v they_o with_o a_o reservation_n but_o as_o a_o apostle_n he_o be_v guide_v by_o a_o certain_a infallible_a assistance_n of_o divine_a truth_n nathan_n as_o he_o be_v a_o man_n give_v david_n liberty_n to_o build_v the_o temple_n he_o be_v over-shot_a in_o it_o something_o but_o then_o he_o go_v to_o god_n and_o consult_v with_o he_o whether_o he_o shall_v or_o no_o and_o than_o nathan_n give_v david_n another_o advice_n so_o the_o prophet_n and_o apostle_n as_o man_n they_o may_v be_v alterable_a without_o sin_n for_o god_n will_v allow_v man_n to_o be_v man_n and_o subject_a to_o mistake_n for_o nescience_n not_o know_v the_o possibility_n of_o thing_n to_o come_v be_v no_o sin_n in_o man_n sin_n because_o it_o be_v a_o unavoidable_a infirmity_n so_o that_o s._n paul_n as_o his_o usual_a manner_n be_v in_o promise_a thing_n to_o come_v thing_n of_o that_o nature_n he_o promise_v they_o under_o reservation_n and_o permission_n if_o god_n permit_v if_o god_n will_v and_o he_o do_v not_o sin_n though_o he_o be_v frustrate_a of_o his_o intention_n it_o be_v not_o the_o only_a part_n if_o there_o be_v a_o messenger_n with_o he_o a_o interpreter_n one_o of_o a_o thousand_o one_o that_o have_v the_o tongue_n of_o the_o learned_a to_o show_v a_o man_n his_o righteousness_n than_o god_n be_v gracious_a to_o he_o
book_n comfort_n against_o sin_n comfort_n against_o trouble_n outward_a and_o inward_a and_o all_o but_o till_o the_o comforter_n come_v till_o god_n send_v his_o holy_a spirit_n we_o shall_v not_o make_v use_n of_o they_o therefore_o let_v we_o labour_n to_o have_v more_o communion_n with_o god_n before_o we_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o after_o we_o have_v hear_v it_o let_v we_o have_v communion_n with_o god_n again_o that_o he_o will_v seal_v whatsoever_o be_v speak_v to_o our_o soul_n and_o make_v it_o effectual_a to_o we_o therefore_o we_o must_v learn_v to_o give_v the_o just_a due_a to_o the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n and_o not_o to_o idolise_v it_o to_o make_v it_o the_o mean_n of_o comfort_n not_o to_o make_v it_o the_o ordinance_n chief_a comforter_n but_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n by_o it_o what_o be_v paul_n or_o apollo_n what_o be_v we_o but_o minister_n of_o faith_n and_o by_o consequent_a minister_n and_o helper_n of_o comfort_n but_o not_o the_o author_n of_o comfort_n oh_o if_o i_o have_v such_o and_o such_o here_o i_o shall_v do_v well_o i_o shall_v be_v so_o and_o so_o alas_o all_o be_v to_o no_o purpose_n unless_o thou_o have_v the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o spirit_n of_o god_n that_o can_v help_v by_o weak_a mean_n therefore_o we_o must_v not_o tie_v comfort_n and_o joy_n to_o this_o or_o that_o mean_n but_o in_o all_o mean_n look_v to_o the_o ground_n of_o comfort_n and_o the_o spring_n of_o all_o the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o reason_n why_o man_n do_v nor_o profit_v more_o that_o they_o be_v not_o more_o cheer_v and_o lift_v up_o with_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n which_o be_v a_o word_n of_o reconciliation_n and_o of_o joy_n and_o comfort_n it_o be_v because_o they_o be_v more_o careful_a in_o the_o use_n of_o mean_n then_o in_o go_v to_o god_n for_o his_o spirit_n to_o bless_v the_o mean_n now_o these_o must_v go_v together_o a_o care_n of_o use_v the_o mean_n and_o a_o care_n to_o pray_v to_o he_o that_o he_o will_v give_v we_o wisdom_n and_o strength_n and_o bless_a success_n in_o the_o use_n of_o all_o mean_n then_o if_o we_o will_v join_v religious_o and_o conscionable_o these_o two_o together_o the_o use_n of_o all_o mean_n conscionable_o and_o in_o the_o use_n of_o all_o to_o lift_v up_o our_o heart_n to_o god_n to_o bless_v they_o we_o shall_v find_v a_o wondrous_a success_n upon_o the_o ministry_n and_o all_o other_o good_a mean_n likewise_o so_o much_o for_o that_o i_o go_v on_o to_o the_o last_o clause_n of_o the_o chapter_n for_o by_o faith_n you_o stand_v why_o do_v the_o apostle_n vary_v the_o word_n we_o have_v not_o dominion_n over_o your_o faith_n but_o be_v helper_n of_o your_o joy_n whereas_o the_o consequence_n it_o seem_v may_v run_v thus_o we_o do_v not_o domineer_v over_o your_o faith_n but_o be_v helper_n of_o your_o faith_n he_o put_v joy_n instead_o of_o faith_n and_o afterward_o he_o bring_v in_o faith_n again_o for_o by_o faith_n you_o stand_v this_o be_v one_o main_a reason_n because_o joy_n rise_v from_o faith_n therefore_o he_o phrase_n name_v it_o in_o stead_n of_o faith_n for_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v not_o curious_a of_o word_n but_o when_o the_o same_o spirit_n wrok_n both_o he_o name_v that_o which_o he_o think_v will_v fit_a suit_n the_o purpose_n faith_n breed_v joy_n joy_n how_o be_v that_o because_o faith_n first_o of_o all_o do_v show_v to_o we_o the_o freedom_n from_o that_o that_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o discomfort_n whatsoever_o it_o take_v away_o all_o that_o may_v discourage_v discourage_v for_o it_o take_v away_o the_o fear_n of_o damnation_n for_o our_o sin_n it_o show_v our_o reconciliation_n in_o jesus_n christ._n faith_n show_v liberty_n and_o deliverance_n and_o so_o discover_v deliverance_n by_o a_o mediator_n it_o work_v joy_n be_v not_o a_o prisoner_n joyful_a when_o he_o be_v set_v at_o liberty_n christ._n then_o likewise_o faith_n discover_v to_o we_o the_o face_n of_o god_n shine_v to_o we_o in_o jesus_n christ_n it_o show_v not_o only_a deliverance_n but_o favour_n it_o show_v we_o the_o ground_n of_o all_o the_o righteousness_n and_o obedience_n of_o our_o saviour_n whereby_o we_o be_v deliver_v and_o bring_v into_o favour_n now_o from_o this_o come_v peace_n from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o deliverance_n and_o acceptance_n with_o god_n found_v upon_o the_o obedience_n of_o god-man_n a_o saviour_n there_o come_v in_o peace_n and_o peace_n breed_v joy_n because_o faith_n discover_v all_o these_o the_o ground_n of_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o thereupon_o peace_n therefore_o it_o cause_v joy_n for_o this_o be_v the_o pedigree_n and_o descent_n of_o joy_n as_o the_o apostle_n have_v it_o rom._n 14._o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n be_v in_o righteousness_n and_o peace_n and_o joy_n there_o must_v joy_n be_v righteousness_n first_o of_o a_o mediatur_fw-la to_o satisfy_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o procure_v his_o favour_n from_o righteousness_n come_v peace_n peace_n with_o god_n peace_n of_o conscience_n from_o peace_n come_v joy_n there_o be_v no_o joy_n without_o peace_n no_o peace_n without_o righteousness_n and_o this_o whole_a pedigree_n of_o joy_n as_o it_o be_v be_v excellent_o set_v down_o rom._n 5._o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n we_o have_v peace_n with_o god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n and_o have_v access_n to_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n by_o which_o grace_n we_o stand_v and_o not_o only_o so_o but_o rejoice_v so_o there_o be_v justification_n by_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o thereupon_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o from_o peace_n boldness_n and_o access_n to_o god_n and_o thereupon_o joy_n so_o we_o see_v how_o faith_n bring_v in_o joy_n because_o it_o show_v the_o spring_n of_o joy_n whence_o it_o come_v it_o show_v peace_n and_o peace_n rise_v from_o reconciliation_n and_o reconciliation_n from_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n mediator_n whereupon_o we_o be_v deliver_v from_o all_o that_o we_o may_v fear_v and_o set_v in_o a_o state_n of_o true_a joy_n god_n be_v our_o friend_n when_o god_n be_v reconcile_v all_o be_v reconcile_v all_o be_v we_o have_v we_o not_o joy_n differ_v from_o presumption_n from_o presumptuous_a swell_a conceit_n true_a joy_n that_o be_v not_o the_o joy_n of_o a_o hypocrite_n it_o do_v show_v from_o whence_o it_o come_v it_o rise_v from_o ground_n out_o of_o divine_a truth_n then_o again_o this_o joy_n do_v more_o immediate_o spring_v from_o faith_n in_o the_o faith_n word_n from_o assurance_n that_o god_n be_v we_o and_o that_o
