be_v to_o be_v consider_v of_o we_o not_o only_a when_o it_o be_v 〈◊〉_d present_o upon_o we_o and_o may_v be_v feel_v fast_n second_o the_o sign_n of_o god_n wrath_n to_o come_v have_v be_v cause_n disease_n that_o we_o may_v get_v hurt_v not_o only_o by_o man_n live_v and_o die_v but_o even_o by_o other_o creature_n which_o shall_v go_v to_o or_o come_v from_o such_o place_n as_o be_v infect_v as_o cat_n &_o dog_n most_o of_o all_o and_o therefore_o in_o time_n of_o common_a plague_n there_o be_v order_n take_v in_o all_o city_n or_o town_n corporate_a which_o be_v well_o govern_v to_o kill_v up_o all_o dog_n that_o be_v not_o shut_v up_o but_o run_v abroad_o of_o what_o nature_n or_o kind_n or_o quality_n or_o price_n soever_o they_o be_v least_o by_o come_v into_o man_n company_n must_v therefore_o be_v persuade_v that_o as_o there_o be_v time_n in_o which_o god_n of_o his_o great_a mercy_n give_v we_o liberty_n to_o feast_v and_o to_o use_v his_o creature_n not_o only_o for_o necessity_n spare_o but_o for_o delight_v abundant_o as_o at_o marriage_n and_o other_o time_n of_o rejoice_v so_o there_o be_v a_o time_n also_o when_o he_o will_v have_v we_o not_o only_o eat_v temperate_o which_o we_o must_v do_v always_o even_o at_o feast_n that_o we_o fall_v not_o to_o surfit_v and_o drunkenness_n but_o even_o to_o abstain_v whole_o from_o meat_n and_o drink_n and_o all_o other_o comfort_n of_o this_o life_n to_o those_o bless_a end_n for_o which_o he_o have_v ordain_v it_o 16.29_o â—he_v jews_n â—d_a a_o stand_v fast_o â—erely_o â—eu_n 16.29_o to_o this_o end_n we_o may_v remember_v what_o be_v write_v concern_v fast_v in_o the_o book_n of_o leviticus_fw-la and_o namely_o how_o there_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o lord_n command_v the_o jew_n once_o a_o year_n that_o every_o soul_n shall_v humble_v itself_o with_o fast_v before_o the_o lord_n in_o one_o of_o the_o great_a assembly_n where_o moses_n show_v or_o rather_o the_o lord_n by_o he_o that_o this_o fast_n shall_v be_v keep_v perpetual_o once_o a_o year_n and_o in_o what_o month_n and_o what_o day_n of_o the_o month_n and_o to_o what_o end_n namely_o to_o humble_v themselves_o for_o their_o sin_n and_o therefore_o what_o must_v then_o be_v do_v viz._n that_o they_o must_v abstain_v from_o all_o work_n and_o worldly_a business_n and_o be_v occupy_v in_o all_o exercise_n of_o god_n worship_n as_o upon_o the_o sabbath_n day_n and_o that_o the_o priest_n shall_v make_v atonement_n by_o prayer_n to_o obtain_v remission_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o the_o same_o commandment_n be_v set_v down_o again_o in_o as_o many_o word_n in_o the_o 23._o 23.2_o leu._n 23.2_o chapter_n of_o the_o same_o book_n where_o he_o show_v that_o all_o be_v bind_v to_o it_o and_o that_o they_o shall_v then_o lay_v aside_o all_o their_o worldly_a business_n and_o have_v a_o holy_a convocation_n and_o therein_o have_v sacrifice_n and_o prayer_n that_o it_o may_v be_v a_o sabbath_n unto_o they_o as_o all_o fast_n be_v of_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o sabbath_n save_v that_o in_o they_o they_o abstain_v from_o meat_n and_o then_o all_o thing_n be_v do_v to_o a_o other_o end_n even_o that_o there_o may_v be_v great_a humiliation_n in_o they_o for_o their_o sin_n which_o then_o be_v not_o so_o proper_a unto_o the_o sabbath_n and_o so_o upon_o their_o repentance_n god_n may_v be_v reconcile_v unto_o they_o their_o labour_n and_o in_o these_o place_n though_o there_o be_v no_o mention_n of_o abstain_v from_o meat_n and_o drink_v and_o so_o they_o may_v seem_v not_o to_o appertain_v to_o this_o argument_n of_o fast_v yet_o beside_o that_o all_o learned_a man_n do_v thus_o take_v they_o that_o this_o be_v a_o day_n of_o yearly_a fast_n even_o the_o very_a circumstance_n also_o of_o the_o text_n do_v necessary_o lead_v we_o unto_o this_o interpretation_n for_o when_o he_o not_o only_o make_v it_o a_o day_n of_o abstain_v from_o all_o work_n and_o spend_v it_o whole_o in_o god_n service_n public_o but_o also_o that_o the_o end_n of_o it_o shall_v be_v that_o they_o may_v be_v humble_v for_o their_o sin_n &_o so_o reconcile_v unto_o god_n &_o this_o humble_v of_o their_o soul_n be_v principal_o urge_v and_o we_o know_v that_o the_o humble_v of_o the_o body_n be_v a_o mean_n to_o humble_a the_o soul_n and_o the_o body_n be_v special_o humble_v and_o bring_v down_o by_o abstain_v from_o meat_n and_o drink_v and_o other_o comfort_n of_o it_o and_o beside_o we_o find_v by_o practice_n in_o the_o scripture_n that_o in_o other_o time_n of_o great_a humiliation_n the_o servant_n of_o god_n have_v abstain_v from_o these_o thing_n therefore_o we_o may_v be_v assure_v that_o this_o be_v mean_v in_o these_o place_n and_o that_o this_o be_v their_o practice_n that_o upon_o this_o day_n they_o abstain_v from_o meat_n and_o drink_n do_v thus_o also_o cease_v from_o work_n and_o be_v occupy_v in_o god_n worship_n to_o this_o end_n even_o to_o the_o humble_v of_o themselves_o before_o the_o lord_n and_o so_o this_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v command_v they_o yearly_o to_o do_v even_o to_o keep_v a_o day_n of_o fast_o and_o there_o be_v great_a reason_n of_o it_o it_o there_o be_v great_a reasâ—_n of_o it_o for_o in_o the_o year_n many_o great_a sin_n may_v be_v commit_v of_o all_o sort_n which_o may_v just_o provoke_v god_n wrath_n against_o they_o and_o so_o they_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o be_v humble_v for_o they_o and_o once_o in_o the_o year_n god_n may_v show_v some_o token_n of_o his_o displeasure_n in_o some_o of_o his_o punishment_n as_o by_o raise_v up_o some_o enemy_n against_o they_o by_o send_v sickness_n scarcity_n unseasonable_a weather_n and_o such_o like_a therefore_o they_o may_v think_v that_o once_o in_o the_o year_n at_o the_o least_o there_o be_v cause_n for_o they_o thus_o to_o humble_v themselves_o especial_o when_o god_n have_v command_v they_o so_o to_o do_v for_o though_o they_o shall_v thus_o humble_v themselves_o continual_o for_o their_o sin_n as_o they_o sell_v out_o yet_o to_o help_v their_o infirmity_n â—hey_n have_v a_o set_a time_n appoint_v for_o it_o 〈◊〉_d do_v it_o more_o thorough_o for_o as_o theâ—_n humble_v for_o their_o sin_n private_a and_o mourn_v for_o they_o that_o be_v public_a when_o they_o see_v any_o token_n of_o god_n displeasure_n yet_o to_o help_v their_o infirmity_n herein_o they_o have_v a_o solemn_a day_n appoint_v for_o this_o purpose_n that_o the_o time_n itself_o may_v not_o only_o put_v they_o in_o mind_n of_o that_o which_o otherwise_o will_v have_v be_v forget_v of_o the_o most_o or_o not_o so_o serious_o think_v upon_o but_o also_o further_o they_o therein_o and_o as_o we_o find_v by_o experience_n how_o needful_a it_o be_v to_o have_v a_o sabbath_n to_o put_v we_o in_o mind_n of_o and_z to_z further_o we_o in_o god_n service_n for_o how_o few_o do_v it_o at_o all_o or_o as_o they_o shall_v upon_o the_o week_n day_n and_o then_o what_o will_v they_o do_v if_o there_o be_v no_o sabbath_n at_o all_o so_o the_o godly_a no_o doubt_n in_o those_o day_n do_v find_v by_o their_o own_o experience_n that_o though_o they_o have_v oftentimes_o cause_n in_o respect_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o the_o punishment_n of_o they_o to_o fast_v public_o and_o private_o yet_o if_o they_o have_v have_v no_o set_a time_n appoint_v for_o it_o they_o shall_v very_o often_o have_v fail_v in_o so_o necessary_a a_o duty_n even_o as_o we_o see_v among_o ourselves_o that_o because_o we_o have_v no_o such_o time_n appoint_v for_o we_o that_o very_o few_o though_o they_o have_v great_a cause_n do_v practice_v it_o at_o any_o time_n therefore_o this_o be_v god_n goodness_n to_o that_o people_n to_o give_v they_o such_o a_o commandment_n us._n how_o far_o he_o equity_n f_o that_o law_n â—indeth_v us._n now_o though_o the_o ceremony_n of_o the_o yearly_a day_n be_v take_v away_o as_o many_o other_o solemn_a day_n of_o they_o be_v yet_o the_o thing_n itself_o to_o fast_o and_o that_o by_o virtue_n of_o that_o commandment_n give_v to_o they_o as_o well_o as_o they_o be_v for_o if_o we_o consider_v the_o end_n and_o see_v the_o equity_n and_o reason_n of_o it_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o it_o bind_v we_o as_o much_o as_o they_o and_o so_o we_o have_v the_o same_o cause_n among_o we_o which_o move_v the_o lord_n to_o enjoin_v they_o this_o practice_n must_v think_v that_o we_o have_v the_o same_o commandment_n also_o of_o fast_v though_o not_o at_o that_o time_n and_o yearly_o yet_o at_o some_o time_n in_o a_o year_n at_o the_o least_o in_o many_o year_n for_o it_o be_v ordain_v to_o this_o end_n that_o they_o be_v humble_v for_o their_o sin_n private_a and_o public_a and_o there_o testify_v their_o humiliation_n the_o wrath_n of_o god_n we_o have_v the_o same_o cause_n to_o be_v humble_v many_o way_n especial_o at_o this_o present_a and_o so_o now_o god_n command_v we_o to_o use_v it_o and_o first_o of_o all_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o great_a unwoorthinesse_n of_o god_n manifold_a benefit_n for_o look_v to_o rhem_n that_o be_v public_a past_a and_o present_a as_o the_o long_a and_o happy_a and_o peaceable_a reign_n of_o our_o late_a sovereign_a queen_n elizabeth_n of_o famous_a memory_n elizabeth_n to_o be_v humble_v both_o iâ—_n respect_n of_o thâ—_n death_n of_o ouâ—_n late_a queen_n elizabeth_n with_o the_o gospel_n and_o freedom_n from_o our_o enemy_n and_o other_o plague_n and_o then_o consider_v on_o the_o other_o side_n the_o little_a fruit_n of_o they_o the_o great_a unthankfulness_n for_o they_o nay_o abuse_v for_o they_o and_o of_o god_n patience_n in_o they_o and_o we_o shall_v see_v great_a cause_n of_o humility_n and_o of_o earnest_n seek_v to_o god_n for_o the_o continuance_n of_o they_o by_o fast_v and_o prayer_n especial_o if_o we_o well_o way_n the_o late_a great_a loss_n of_o we_o in_o the_o death_n of_o her_o majesty_n for_o if_o david_n bid_v the_o people_n of_o his_o time_n mourn_v for_o the_o death_n of_o saul_n their_o king_n because_o they_o enjoy_v many_o great_a benefit_n under_o his_o government_n say_v 1.4_o â—_o sam._n 1.4_o you_o daughter_n of_o israel_n weep_v for_o saul_n which_o clothe_v you_o in_o scarlet_n and_o with_o pleasure_n and_o hang_v ornament_n of_o gold_n upon_o your_o apparel_n then_o we_o much_o more_o have_v cause_n to_o lament_v for_o her_o death_n by_o who_o life_n we_o enjoy_v and_o that_o so_o long_o so_o many_o inestimable_a benefit_n both_o for_o soul_n and_o body_n for_o profit_n and_o for_o pleasure_n and_o true_o it_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v that_o her_o death_n be_v too_o light_o pass_v away_o of_o the_o most_o the_o lord_n indeed_o in_o much_o mercy_n have_v most_o happy_o supply_v it_o beyond_o all_o our_o expectation_n but_o yet_o that_o must_v not_o be_v forget_v and_o the_o more_o gracious_o and_o speedy_o he_o have_v supply_v it_o and_o yet_o we_o unwoorthy_a of_o the_o former_a the_o more_o cause_n have_v we_o in_o other_o shire_n as_o colchester_n cambridge_n newmarket_n and_o many_o more_o that_o we_o know_v not_o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o this_o there_o be_v great_a cause_n to_o be_v humble_v to_o keep_v one_o in_o seven_o and_o this_o one_o that_o we_o do_v and_o we_o have_v as_o much_o need_n of_o it_o as_o the_o jew_n have_v so_o we_o may_v say_v of_o the_o day_n of_o fast_v though_o that_o prescript_n day_n be_v take_v away_o yet_o if_o we_o consider_v the_o end_n and_o cause_n of_o it_o namely_o to_o humble_v we_o for_o our_o sin_n we_o be_v bind_v to_o it_o still_o upon_o some_o day_n and_o have_v as_o much_o need_n of_o it_o as_o ever_o they_o have_v therefore_o we_o must_v be_v persuade_v that_o now_o god_n do_v require_v it_o of_o we_o and_o not_o only_o the_o they_o pray_v thus_o importunate_o it_o appear_v that_o in_o this_o great_a humility_n of_o they_o overcome_v and_o by_o importunity_n of_o prayer_n the_o lord_n will_v be_v overcome_v declare_v by_o their_o fast_n and_o manner_n of_o it_o they_o have_v great_a hope_n of_o obtain_v their_o request_n of_o god_n unto_o who_o they_o do_v sue_v and_o thus_o must_v we_o do_v in_o the_o day_n of_o our_o of_o our_o want_n to_o pray_v earnest_o for_o it_o and_o that_o the_o want_n of_o it_o for_o a_o time_n may_v quicken_v up_o our_o dead_a heart_n and_o dull_a spirit_n unto_o great_a fervency_n of_o prayer_n that_o also_o when_o we_o shall_v see_v that_o we_o have_v such_o thing_n give_v unto_o we_o and_o that_o we_o have_v obtain_v they_o by_o our_o prayer_n yea_o by_o long_a and_o earnest_a prayer_n we_o may_v make_v the_o more_o account_n of_o they_o and_o esteem_v they_o as_o we_o ought_v and_o also_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o thankful_a unto_o god_n for_o the_o same_o for_o the_o lord_n indeed_o have_v of_o his_o great_a mercy_n promise_v that_o if_o we_o call_v upon_o he_o he_o will_v hear_v we_o as_o we_o have_v learn_v even_o now_o out_o of_o the_o gospel_n of_o s._n luke_n and_o may_v further_o learn_v out_o of_o many_o other_o place_n of_o scripture_n beside_o as_o 50.15_o psal_n 50.15_o call_v upon_o i_o in_o the_o time_n of_o thy_o trouble_n and_o i_o will_v hear_v thou_o and_o deliver_v thou_o and_o many_o other_o but_o he_o have_v set_v down_o no_o time_n when_o we_o shall_v see_v and_o perceive_v that_o he_o have_v hear_v we_o save_v that_o it_o be_v say_v i_o will_v hear_v thou_o in_o due_a time_n 10.1_o psal_n 10.1_o even_o in_o affliction_n now_o which_o be_v the_o most_o convenient_a time_n for_o god_n to_o help_v we_o in_o 1.7_o act._n 1.7_o that_o we_o must_v not_o prescribe_v unto_o he_o neither_o be_v it_o always_o meet_v for_o we_o to_o know_v the_o time_n or_o the_o season_n which_o the_o father_n have_v put_v in_o his_o own_o power_n therefore_o as_o they_o be_v best_a know_v to_o his_o heavenly_a majesty_n so_o we_o must_v leave_v the_o declaration_n of_o they_o to_o he_o alone_o not_o doubt_v but_o that_o he_o will_v hear_v we_o continual_o not_o doubt_v one_o whit_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o his_o promise_n and_o that_o when_o we_o have_v our_o request_n grant_v we_o may_v esteem_v of_o so_o great_a a_o benefit_n and_o be_v thankful_a to_o he_o for_o the_o same_o for_o assure_o if_o we_o do_v always_o find_v that_o the_o lord_n do_v give_v we_o every_o thing_n at_o the_o first_o ask_n though_o we_o grant_v that_o he_o give_v we_o continual_o more_o than_o we_o ask_v such_o be_v our_o unthankfulness_n that_o both_o we_o will_v come_v unto_o he_o very_o cold_o and_o pray_v drowsilie_o for_o we_o will_v make_v it_o but_o a_o ordinary_a matter_n last_o therefore_o if_o we_o continue_v in_o fervent_a prayer_n the_o lord_n will_v hear_v we_o at_o the_o last_o ask_v &_o have_v and_o also_o we_o will_v not_o so_o we_o the_o more_o fit_a for_o prayer_n but_o when_o the_o body_n be_v pinch_v with_o hunger_n and_o the_o want_n of_o other_o necessary_a help_n meet_v for_o it_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o want_n shall_v be_v a_o mean_n to_o set_v a_o sharp_a edge_n upon_o our_o prayer_n to_o make_v they_o more_o pierce_v and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o give_v a_o wing_n unto_o they_o to_o fly_v aloft_o above_o the_o cloud_n even_o to_o make_v they_o enter_v into_o heaven_n and_o to_o come_v before_o the_o throne_n of_o god_n we_o ought_v then_o in_o these_o day_n of_o abstinence_n thus_o to_o profit_n by_o have_v this_o burn_a fire_n of_o the_o pestilent_a fever_n in_o their_o house_n at_o once_o not_o so_o much_o to_o the_o waste_n of_o their_o house_n and_o stuff_n as_o to_o the_o burn_a even_o to_o great_a misery_n of_o other_o we_o shall_v be_v senseless_a &_o not_o move_v with_o it_o do_v not_o nehemiah_n that_o worthy_a servant_n of_o god_n though_o he_o be_v in_o the_o king_n court_n and_o in_o office_n there_o and_o in_o great_a favour_n with_o the_o king_n and_o all_o be_v well_o with_o he_o yet_o so_o sorrow_n for_o the_o misery_n of_o his_o brethren_n in_o jerusalem_n that_o he_o
