to_o have_v a_o real_a understanding_n perception_n sense_n and_o affection_n for_o those_o thing_n when_o they_o be_v name_v we_o know_v and_o feel_v they_o in_o our_o mind_n and_o heart_n we_o know_v what_o it_o be_v and_o have_v it_o as_o real_o in_o ourselves_o to_o honour_n fear_v and_o love_n god_n for_o his_o infinite_a perfection_n though_o invisible_a as_o a_o prince_n attend_v with_o all_o his_o ensign_n of_o majesty_n and_o greatness_n and_o who_o we_o know_v to_o be_v as_o wise_a and_o good_a as_o great_a by_o our_o frequent_a converse_n thus_o of_o our_o mind_n with_o god_n he_o become_v ready_o a_o very_a real_a thing_n to_o we_o be_v real_o perceive_v by_o we_o and_o have_v real_a influence_n upon_o our_o affection_n whereas_o before_o we_o thus_o begin_v to_o use_v ourselves_o the_o name_n of_o god_n and_o of_o all_o his_o attribute_n and_o perfection_n be_v a_o insignificant_a thing_n to_o we_o we_o understand_v little_a or_o nothing_o by_o it_o and_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o those_o noble_a and_o sweet_a delight_n and_o for_o that_o reason_n among_o other_o great_a full_a often_o breath_n out_o their_o thanks_o to_o god_n for_o the_o discovery_n and_o assurance_n of_o the_o heavenly_a life_n hereafter_o and_o their_o secret_a welcome_n of_o the_o approach_a time_n thereof_o whither_o steal_v from_o they_o many_o a_o privy_a glance_n where_o shall_v often_o hear_v of_o fast_n and_o prayer_n of_o contrary_a and_o diverse_a party_n for_o victory_n and_o success_n in_o any_o affair_n and_o thanksgiving_n too_o when_o both_o can_v be_v just_a in_o such_o case_n it_o be_v a_o very_a good_a petition_n that_o god_n will_v favour_v or_o prosper_v the_o just_a cause_n and_o yet_o this_o may_v not_o always_o seem_v good_a to_o god_n neither_o but_o we_o ought_v to_o refer_v it_o to_o he_o as_o all_o other_o petition_n thus_o sect_n and_o party_n in_o religion_n pray_v with_o a_o great_a earnestness_n and_o confidence_n for_o the_o conversion_n or_o extirpation_n of_o each_o other_o when_o it_o be_v sure_a but_o one_o of_o those_o prayer_n can_v be_v just_a if_o when_o we_o petition_v god_n for_o any_o thing_n we_o be_v careless_a and_o negligent_a whether_o it_o be_v just_a or_o no_o and_o yet_o perhaps_o very_o confident_a and_o bold_a too_o in_o ask_v we_o great_o dishonour_v god_n for_o hereby_o we_o beget_v a_o opinion_n in_o ourselves_o and_o other_o and_o such_o a_o suitable_a behaviour_n that_o god_n be_v more_o fond_a of_o we_o and_o our_o concern_v then_o of_o what_o be_v just_a and_o right_a that_o be_v in_o effect_n that_o he_o love_v we_o in_o particular_a better_o than_o all_o the_o world_n beside_o as_o if_o he_o must_v needs_o do_v what_o we_o desire_v he_o whether_o it_o be_v right_a or_o wrong_n but_o if_o we_o do_v attend_v to_o and_o examine_v with_o as_o much_o care_n as_o we_o ought_v before_o we_o pray_v whether_o what_o we_o pray_v be_v just_a and_o fit_a for_o god_n to_o give_v and_o do_v without_o any_o prejudice_n from_o self-love_n conclude_v it_o may_v be_v so_o and_o yet_o shall_v be_v mistake_v this_o be_v only_o a_o defect_n of_o our_o knowledge_n the_o ill_a consequence_n of_o which_o be_v soon_o amend_v by_o refer_v all_o our_o petition_n to_o the_o unerring_a wisdom_n of_o god_n of_o which_o hereafter_o but_o we_o may_v through_o undue_a self-love_n
