be_v use_v he_o have_v harden_v himself_o against_o he_o so_o that_o israel_n must_v not_o expect_v to_o go_v present_o and_o yet_o the_o lord_n show_v moses_n that_o he_o will_v so_o weary_v he_o with_o his_o sign_n that_o he_o will_v make_v he_o willing_a to_o let_v israel_n go_v at_o the_o last_o these_o two_o thing_n observe_v first_o that_o god_n intend_v when_o he_o have_v try_v pharaoh_n by_o his_o sign_n that_o he_o shall_v let_v israel_n go_v god_n do_v not_o harden_v pharoahs_n heart_n on_o purpose_n to_o keep_v israel_n from_o go_v but_o because_o pharaoh_n have_v slit_v the_o lord_n in_o say_v who_o be_v the_o lord_n i_o will_v not_o obey_v his_o voice_n and_o let_v you_o go_v that_o therefore_o the_o lord_n do_v harden_v pharaoh_n when_o first_o pharaoh_n have_v harden_v lord_n the_o scripture_n say_v that_o pharaoh_n harden_v his_o heart_n against_o the_o lord_n himself_o that_o he_o may_v know_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v strong_a than_o he_o i_o may_v spend_v much_o time_n in_o run_v through_o the_o cause_n of_o thing_n but_o of_o that_o anon_o and_o second_o take_v notice_n this_o be_v not_o god_n secret_a will_n namely_o in_o appoint_v pharaoh_n not_o to_o let_v israel_n go_v when_o he_o have_v command_v he_o to_o let_v they_o go_v but_o it_o be_v his_o reveal_v will_n make_v know_v to_o mosis_fw-la and_o aaron_n and_o in_o the_o next_o place_n i_o come_v to_o examine_v the_o matter_n as_o touch_v god_n command_v of_o abraham_n offer_v up_o isaac_n and_o so_o shall_v p●ss_v from_o this_o particular_a to_o the_o second_o argument_n i_o shall_v be_v very_o brief_a say_v that_o in_o a_o sense_n as_o beforesaid_a abraham_n do_v offer_v up_o isaac_n and_o also_o this_o be_v not_o a_o secret_a thing_n because_o the_o scripture_n say_v it_o be_v but_o to_o try_v abraham_n as_o i_o have_v before_o prove_v therefore_o i_o pass_v to_o the_o three_o argument_n the_o second_o you_o grant_v to_o be_v true_a and_o the_o three_o be_v if_o adam_n in_o his_o best_a condition_n as_o he_o stand_v in_o paradise_n before_o the_o fall_n be_v but_o a_o earthly_a man_n adam_n in_o his_o best_a estate_n be_v but_o a_o earthly_a man_n man_n and_o all_o his_o enjoyment_n earthly_a than_o he_o can_v loose_v no_o more_o than_o what_o he_o have_v to_o loose_v which_o be_v but_o earthly_a but_o adam_n in_o his_o best_a condition_n be_v and_o enjoy_v but_o as_o child_n of_o wrath_n as_o in_o respect_n to_o outward_a punishment_n we_o differ_v not_o because_o god_n justice_n must_v be_v satisfy_v for_o god_n thereupon_o to_o inflict_v it_o if_o he_o sin_v but_o he_o do_v sin_n therefore_o it_o must_v of_o necessity_n be_v punish_v otherwise_o justice_n not_o satisfy_v because_o there_o be_v no_o repentance_n give_v or_o require_v as_o in_o reference_n which_o in_o the_o extent_n of_o it_o will_v make_v the_o devil_n to_o speak_v true_a and_o god_n to_o lie_v be_v anabsurd_a blasphemous_a opinion_n but_o such_o be_v the_o opinion_n that_o say_v that_o the_o death_n that_o god_n threaten_v to_o adam_n be_v the_o second_o death_n and_o yet_o that_o second_o death_n not_o inflict_v for_o that_o sin_n on_o adam_n and_o all_o his_o line_n so_o he_o say_v god_n speak_v false_o and_o the_o devil_n truth_n ergo_fw-la that_o opinion_n a_o obhor_v &_o blasphemous_a opinion_n but_o the_o minor_a be_v false_a as_o you_o say_v for_o say_v you_o although_o god_n threaten_v adam_n with_o eternal_a death_n yet_o he_o lie_v not_o in_o inflict_v it_o because_o he_o threaten_v be_v to_o dehort_v adam_n from_o sin_n not_o his_o peremptory_a sinner_n to_o hardness_n of_o heart_n although_o they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o a_o father_n belove_v of_o god_n and_o also_o if_o daniel_n noah_n and_o job_n shall_v entreat_v for_o they_o as_o objection_n lie_v in_o these_o word_n why_o do_v he_o yet_o find_v fault_n for_o who_o have_v resist_v his_o will_n as_o if_o the_o apostle_n shall_v have_v say_v peradventure_o you_o house_n of_o israel_n may_v say_v to_o the_o lord_n for_o what_o cause_n do_v thou_o find_v fault_n with_o we_o who_o of_o we_o have_v resist_v thy_o will_n why_o will_v thou_o or_o for_o what_o cause_n will_v be_v in_o the_o potter_n hand_n and_o he_o make_v it_o another_o vessel_n as_o seem_v he_o good_a and_o can_v god_n do_v so_o with_o yond_o and_o yet_o be_v just_a and_o thus_o the_o apostle_n answer_v the_o objection_n in_o the_o next_o verse_n say_v verse_n 21._o have_v not_o the_o potter_n power_n over_o the_o clay_n of_o the_o same_o lump_n to_o make_v one_o vessel_n unto_o honour_n and_o another_o unto_o dishonour_n annot._n in_o this_o verse_n the_o apostle_n answer_v the_o objection_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v o_o house_n of_o israel_n take_v notice_n of_o this_o as_o the_o potter_n have_v power_n over_o his_o clay_n that_o be_v when_o it_o be_v mar_v in_o his_o hand_n otherwise_o to_o dispose_v of_o it_o although_o at_o the_o first_o he_o do_v intend_v to_o even_o you_o o_o you_o house_n of_o israel_n you_o be_v mar_v in_o god_n hand_n he_o may_v disappoint_v you_o of_o that_o glory_n which_o he_o do_v intend_v to_o bestow_v upon_o you_o as_o you_o be_v a_o nation_n who_o once_o the_o lord_n love_v and_o call_v his_o peculiar_a people_n and_o yet_o may_v have_v mercy_n upon_o a_o small_a remnant_n of_o that_o lump_n or_o nation_n who_o do_v believe_v and_o be_v humble_a yield_v and_o penitent_a before_o the_o lord_n and_o thus_o the_o apostle_n clear_v up_o god_n justice_n and_o thus_o i_o pass_v to_o the_o next_o verse_n because_o those_o thing_n that_o may_v be_v offer_v as_o objection_n to_o some_o particular_n in_o this_o verse_n i_o have_v already_o answer_v in_o my_o precedent_a discourse_n in_o this_o treatise_n and_o also_o the_o necessity_n of_o my_o present_a occasion_n cause_v i_o to_o study_v brevity_n verse_n 22._o what_o if_o god_n willing_a to_o show_v his_o wrath_n and_o to_o make_v his_o power_n know_v endure_v with_o much_o long_a suffering_n the_o vessel_n of_o wrath_n fit_v to_o destruction_n annot._n in_o this_o verse_n we_o may_v understand_v the_o apostle_n show_v that_o god_n have_v be_v just_a if_o he_o have_v destroy_v the_o nation_n of_o the_o jew_n long_o before_o for_o their_o rebellion_n but_o for_o these_o two_o cause_n god_n do_v suffer_v long_o the_o first_o be_v because_o he_o will_v make_v his_o power_n and_o wrath_n appear_v the_o more_o severe_a towards_o that_o rebellious_a people_n for_o our_o admonition_n and_o forewarn_n unto_o we_o and_o second_o that_o he_o may_v make_v know_v his_o mercy_n in_o a_o more_o large_a manner_n and_o measure_n on_o that_o part_n of_o the_o house_n of_o israel_n who_o do_v believe_v and_o fear_v before_o the_o lord_n that_o they_o may_v say_v it_o be_v of_o his_o mercy_n that_o we_o be_v not_o consume_v obj._n but_o if_o it_o be_v object_v and_o say_v that_o the_o text_n say_v the_o vessel_n of_o wrath_n be_v fit_v to_o destruction_n answ_n to_o which_o i_o answer_v and_o say_v that_o as_o the_o receive_n and_o cherish_v of_o the_o gracious_a motion_n of_o god_n spirit_n it_o sit_v we_o or_o prepare_v we_o for_o glory_n even_o so_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o motion_n of_o sin_n and_o cherish_n of_o it_o fit_v we_o for_o destruction_n and_o thus_o one_o part_n of_o israel_n be_v fit_v for_o destruction_n by_o their_o receive_a sin_n and_o satan_n so_o as_o to_o be_v guide_v thereby_o and_o second_o so_o be_v the_o other_o part_n or_o remnant_n fit_v or_o prepare_v for_o glory_n through_o the_o receive_n the_o motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n and_o be_v guide_v thereby_o the_o which_o as_o it_o sit_v for_o glory_n so_o at_o last_o it_o bring_v we_o to_o glory_n and_o so_o i_o pass_v to_o the_o next_o verse_n which_o be_v as_o follow_v verse_n 23._o and_o that_o he_o may_v make_v know_v the_o riches_n of_o his_o glory_n on_o the_o vessel_n of_o mercy_n which_o he_o have_v before_o prepare_v unto_o glory_n annot._n i_o have_v open_v this_o verse_n before_o i_o shall_v pass_v it_o brief_o say_v that_o there_o be_v no_o soul_n that_o ever_o shall_v enjoy_v glory_n but_o such_o as_o be_v fit_v for_o it_o in_o this_o life_n and_o that_o by_o the_o lord_n and_o second_o i_o say_v that_o such_o as_o perish_v have_v be_v strive_v with_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n that_o thereby_o they_o may_v have_v be_v fit_a for_o glory_n but_o they_o will_v have_v none_o of_o his_o counsel_n for_o they_o desire_v not_o
