well_o know_v that_o man_n weakness_n can_v in_o nowise_o perform_v such_o work_n without_o god_n help_v there_o before_o god_n pour_v his_o spirit_n into_o the_o herte_n of_o the_o godly_a which_o help_v they_o which_o gyve_v they_o new_a light_n and_o strength_n and_o this_o be_v a_o true_a exercise_n wherein_o god_n will_v have_v we_o to_o call_v upon_o christ_n and_o to_o flee_v to_o he_o that_o he_o may_v gyve_v we_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o guide_v we_o therewith_o that_o we_o fall_v not_o for_o it_o be_v a_o hard_a thing_n for_o david_n not_o to_o fall_v into_o desperation_n when_o he_o be_v dryven_v out_o of_o his_o realm_n and_o appear_v to_o be_v cast_v away_o of_o god_n therefore_o he_o flee_v to_o prayer_n as_o to_o a_o only_a hold_n that_o be_v leave_v and_o he_o man_n but_o they_o that_o live_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o call_v earnest_o for_o this_o help_v and_o aid_v of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v true_a experience_n how_o present_a and_o effectuous_a his_o help_v be_v in_o affliction_n wherefore_o it_o be_v right_n expedient_a foâ—_n fearful_a and_o weak_a mind_n which_o have_v some_o beginning_a and_o desire_n of_o godliness_n to_o considre_v diligent_o the_o sayinge_v of_o s._n paul_n philip._n ij_o it_o be_v god_n that_o work_v in_o you_o both_o to_o will_v and_o to_o bring_v to_o pass_v accord_v to_o the_o good_a purpose_n success_n to_o thy_o work_n ¶_o the_o third_o question_n how_o do_v good_a work_n please_v god_n seinge_v that_o there_o remain_v ever_o in_o this_o flesh_n so_o great_a weakness_n in_o this_o life_n for_o we_o all_o have_v experience_n daily_o that_o there_o stick_v in_o we_o as_o yet_o much_o doubt_v concerue_a god_n and_o his_o word_n distrust_n of_o his_o presence_n and_o help_v inordinate_a motion_n and_o carefulness_n of_o this_o life_n which_o wound_n of_o man_n weakness_n the_o saint_n feel_v to_o be_v so_o much_o the_o grevouser_n as_o they_o more_o study_n to_o remedy_v they_o which_o thing_n paul_n bewail_v of_o himself_o roma_n seven_o it_o be_v profitable_a that_o the_o people_n be_v often_o and_o plain_o admonish_v of_o this_o question_n for_o a_o great_a part_n of_o man_n be_v encumber_v in_o two_o error_n some_o be_v in_o perpetual_a doubt_n be_v uncertain_a whether_o their_o life_n or_o work_n please_v god_n and_o lyve_v in_o a_o heathnishe_a ungodliness_n for_o they_o can_v not_o call_v upon_o god_n but_o they_o flee_v his_o sight_n there_o be_v a_o very_a great_a multitude_n of_o this_o sort_n among_o man_n wherefore_o this_o heathnishe_a blindness_n of_o man_n must_v be_v diligent_o reprove_v an_o other_o arrogancy_n and_o trust_v of_o our_o own_o rightuousnes_n and_o work_n as_o be_v the_o error_n of_o that_o pharisee_n which_o in_o the_o temple_n glory_v of_o the_o keep_n of_o the_o law_n not_o perceive_n his_o own_o uncleanes_n and_o sin_n therefore_o that_o this_o double_a error_n and_o this_o blindness_n may_v be_v ovoyd_v we_o must_v know_v that_o three_o thing_n be_v require_v hereunto_o that_o good_a work_n please_v god_n first_o that_o the_o man_n himself_o be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n and_o be_v justify_v free_o for_o christ_n sake_n second_o that_o it_o be_v requisite_a that_o a_o new_a life_n follow_v and_o obedience_n towards_o god_n though_o it_o be_v unperfecte_v and_o though_o much_o weakness_n and_o many_o vice_n remain_v in_o us._n wherefore_o we_o must_v remember_v that_o it_o be_v ever_o needful_a to_o ask_v forgyvenes_n of_o sin_n as_o christ_n teach_v we_o all_o to_o pray_v to_o the_o father_n forgyve_v we_o our_o dette_n for_o no_o man_n understand_v sufficient_o how_o great_a the_o anger_n of_o god_n be_v against_o sin_n our_o reconciler_n christ_n do_v only_o full_o perceyve_v it_o when_o he_o say_v if_o they_o do_v this_o in_o the_o green_a wood_n what_o will_v they_o do_v in_o the_o dry_a we_o must_v not_o then_o extenuate_v and_o diminish_v sin_n three_o though_o this_o obedience_n be_v weak_a yet_o we_o must_v determine_v that_o it_o please_v god_n in_o the_o reconcile_a for_o his_o son_n sake_n as_o saint_n petre_n exhort_v to_o offer_v spiritual_a sacrifice_n say_v and_o therefore_o that_o his_o work_n be_v command_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v acceptable_a unto_o god_n for_o the_o same_o christ_n sake_n though_o they_o be_v weak_a and_o unperfecte_v therefore_o faith_n must_v be_v exercise_v in_o good_a work_n two_o way_n first_o that_o we_o believe_v they_o please_v god_n second_o that_o we_o pray_v to_o god_n that_o for_o christ_n sake_n he_o will_v healp_n we_o both_o to_o live_v godly_a and_o also_o to_o do_v those_o work_n that_o shall_v profit_n the_o common_a life_n of_o man_n &_o that_o he_o will_v give_v they_o good_a success_n now_o let_v every_o man_n considre_n with_o he_o self_n how_o great_a this_o mercy_n of_o god_n be_v and_o how_o sweet_a this_o doctrine_n be_v it_o seem_v a_o small_a work_n when_o the_o mother_n bring_v up_o her_o child_n gyve_v suck_v
when_o thou_o be_v rebuke_v of_o he_o for_o who_o the_o lord_n love_v he_o he_o correct_v etc_n s._n paul_n say_v the_o same_o thing_n i_o cor._n xi_o when_o we_o be_v chastise_v we_o be_v correct_v forth_o and_o disclose_v unto_o us._n wherefore_o they_o which_o be_v impatient_a in_o tribulation_n which_o be_v discourage_v or_o move_v with_o some_o kind_n of_o revenge_v or_o flee_v to_o evyll_n creature_n yea_o in_o witchcraft_n and_o moreover_o in_o the_o devyl_n himself_o they_z then_o which_o be_v try_v with_o the_o cross_n find_v that_o there_o hang_v in_o they_o great_a wickedness_n which_o they_o know_v not_o before_o and_o that_o they_o be_v counterfeit_n and_o empty_a of_o true_a fay_v aught_o to_o be_v aghast_a and_o to_o quake_v at_o this_o their_o â—ngodlines_n and_o to_o be_v move_v with_o earne_a repentance_n and_o to_o flee_v with_o all_o their_o herte_n unto_o christ_n which_o may_v deliver_v they_o of_o this_o infidelity_n &_o gyve_v they_o strong_a faith_n etc_n for_o god_n send_v such_o misery_n and_o tribulation_n for_o this_o purpose_n that_o in_o they_o man_n may_v behold_v try_v and_o acknowledge_v then selue_o in_o a_o glass_n for_o while_o they_o be_v in_o prosperity_n they_o live_v careless_o they_o run_v not_o to_o god_n they_o neglect_v to_o hear_v his_o word_n they_o call_v not_o upon_o god_n they_o think_v that_o they_o know_v he_o and_o have_v all_o thing_n that_o they_o need_v some_o undre_a the_o cross_n call_v their_o sin_n pass_v to_o remembrance_n and_o weigh_v they_o worthy_o at_o length_n and_o lament_v they_o and_o true_o repent_v of_o they_o for_o while_o they_o have_v all_o thing_n at_o pleasure_n for_o the_o most_o part_n they_o neglect_v their_o sin_n they_o despice_fw-la the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o think_v it_o not_o to_o be_v so_o much_o as_o they_o hear_v it_o to_o be_v preach_v but_o when_o the_o cross_n and_o affliction_n come_v upon_o they_o their_o mind_n be_v aflight_n it_o consider_v not_o that_o the_o thing_n which_o it_o suffer_v be_v the_o scourge_n of_o god_n wrath_n it_o fear_v least_o god_n will_v show_v himself_o hereafter_o a_o rigorous_a judge_n and_o revenger_n of_o wicked_a act_n and_o not_o a_o gentle_a father_n the_o man_n consider_v in_o this_o chastise_v of_o god_n all_o his_o sin_n whereby_o he_o desirue_v the_o punishment_n a_o great_a while_n before_o which_o he_o now_o suffer_v he_o weigh_v they_o worthy_o at_o the_o last_o and_o condemn_v himself_o and_o say_v with_o himself_o in_o this_o and_o that_o sin_n i_o well_o deserve_v this_o correction_n of_o god_n if_o then_o true_a repentance_n come_v into_o his_o mind_n and_o if_o he_o flee_v to_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n he_o be_v healped_a also_o with_o grace_n for_o god_n therefore_o send_v we_o afliction_n that_o we_o shall_v acknowledge_v our_o sin_n that_o we_o shall_v condemn_v ourselves_o and_o turn_v to_o the_o lord_n as_o paul_n monish_v i_o cor._n xi_o sayinge_v for_o this_o cause_n that_o be_v to_o say_v because_o you_o celebrate_v the_o supper_n of_o the_o lord_n unworthe_o and_o not_o religious_o there_o be_v many_o weak_a and_o feeble_a among_o you_o and_o many_o sleep_n and_o he_o add_v if_o we_o have_v judge_v ourselves_o that_o be_v to_o say_v if_o we_o have_v repent_v our_o sin_n and_o amend_v our_o life_n we_o shall_v not_o be_v judge_v that_o be_v we_o shall_v not_o be_v subject_v to_o so_o many_o evyls_n but_o when_o we_o judge_v not_o ourselves_o god_n judge_v and_o chastise_v we_o not_o with_o a_o enemous_a but_o with_o a_o benivolent_a and_o fatherlie_a mind_n that_o he_o may_v put_v we_o in_o remembrance_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o call_v we_o again_o to_o repentance_n and_o this_o it_o be_v that_o he_o say_v afterward_o but_o when_o we_o be_v judge_v of_o god_n we_o be_v correct_v that_o we_o be_v not_o condemn_v with_o the_o world_n such_o than_o learn_v in_o the_o cross_a the_o bountuous_a and_o fatherly_a will_n of_o god_n in_o that_o that_o they_o know_v that_o god_n will_v not_o the_o death_n of_o a_o sinner_n but_o rather_o that_o he_o be_v convert_v and_o live_v as_o ezechiell_n testify_v xviij_o whereunto_o he_o drive_v even_o with_o his_o scourge_n other_o in_o the_o cross_n acknowledge_v not_o their_o sin_n only_o or_o not_o chief_o as_o man_n have_v obtain_v remission_n thereof_o and_o which_o sin_n be_v cover_v by_o the_o
