satan_n let_v fly_v at_o he_o and_o some_o heavy_a temptation_n press_v in_o upon_o he_o reveal_v never_o so_o many_o comfortable_a promise_n yet_o by_o reason_n thereof_o we_o find_v it_o by_o experience_n that_o always_o those_o distress_a spirit_n forget_v whatsoever_o be_v speak_v &_o all_o their_o mind_n and_o talk_n be_v upon_o the_o evil_a and_o the_o violence_n of_o the_o temptation_n and_o they_o attend_v not_o to_o the_o comfort_n and_o to_o the_o promise_v reveal_v to_o they_o their_o eye_n be_v hold_v in_o this_o manner_n that_o though_o they_o be_v near_o to_o christ_n and_o even_o in_o the_o privy_a chamber_n yet_o they_o will_v not_o take_v notice_n of_o christ_n because_o their_o heart_n be_v thus_o hold_v off_o from_o the_o apprehension_n of_o his_o presence_n in_o psalm_n 73.23_o when_o the_o prophet_n david_n be_v fall_v into_o a_o desperate_a perplexity_n because_o of_o the_o prosperity_n of_o the_o wicked_a so_o that_o he_o begin_v to_o can_v say_v so_o and_o sorrow_n so_o as_o to_o be_v loosen_v from_o thy_o sin_n than_o thou_o content_a the_o lord_n jesus_n but_o if_o thou_o think_v thou_o have_v a_o warrant_n or_o a_o privy_a seal_n for_o thy_o sinful_a practice_n because_o thou_o have_v sorrow_v this_o argue_v little_a love_n to_o jesus_n christ_n object_n but_o some_o will_v say_v may_v not_o a_o man_n make_v his_o moan_n and_o express_v his_o grief_n for_o sin_n limit_v expression_n of_o sorrow_n for_o sin_n limit_v answ_n i_o answer_v yes_o it_o be_v fit_v and_o necessary_a yet_o consider_v these_o two_o sorrow_n know_v to_o some_o godly_a minister_n or_o faithful_a christian_a out_o of_o the_o burden_n of_o thy_o sin_n and_o not_o for_o fashion_n sake_n thus_o do_v that_o thy_o heart_n may_v be_v loosen_v from_o thy_o sin_n and_o thou_o see_v thy_o need_n of_o a_o saviour_n a_o three_o sort_n be_v a_o new_a upstart_n hypocrite_n that_o be_v new_o come_v up_o many_o of_o they_o be_v in_o they_o be_v as_o full_a of_o hypocrisy_n as_o a_o egg_n be_v full_a of_o meat_n or_o a_o toad_n full_a of_o poison_n such_o a_o hypocrite_n i_o will_v discover_v to_o you_o thus_o he_o be_v a_o man_n that_o have_v long_o profess_v the_o truth_n and_o have_v see_v his_o sin_n and_o be_v awaken_v to_o his_o own_o sense_n and_o have_v have_v a_o kind_n of_o attendance_n to_o the_o gospel_n and_o a_o kind_n of_o brainish_a acquaintance_n with_o the_o promise_n in_o jesus_n christ_n so_o that_o now_o he_o be_v full_o persuade_v that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v he_o and_o he_o be_v christ_n and_o yet_o after_o all_o this_o when_o he_o be_v come_v thus_o far_o he_o look_v no_o more_o after_o himself_o but_o look_v all_o to_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n insomuch_o that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n become_v a_o drudge_n to_o he_o now_o the_o guise_n of_o this_o man_n be_v this_o he_o cast_v away_o all_o sorrow_n and_o reason_n thus_o for_o i_o to_o see_v my_o vileness_n and_o to_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o body_n of_o death_n and_o to_o bleed_v inward_o and_o mourn_v daily_o for_o my_o wickedness_n i_o think_v be_v needless_a these_o be_v pass_v with_o he_o for_o he_o say_v i_o their_o conceit_n they_o apprehend_v they_o do_v believe_v and_o there_o they_o rest_v and_o so_o in_o conclusion_n they_o never_o go_v to_o christ_n to_o have_v their_o heart_n humble_v and_o bring_v under_o as_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v go_v and_o grasp_v with_o his_o hand_n and_o take_v no_o hold_n of_o the_o rock_n he_o neither_o find_v strength_n to_o himself_o nor_o any_o hold_n to_o his_o hand_n so_o they_o rest_v upon_o their_o faith_n and_o neither_o they_o nor_o their_o faith_n upon_o their_o saviour_n thou_o sinful_a delude_a hypocrite_n the_o lord_n jesus_n will_v make_v thou_o and_o that_o upon_o these_o ground_n first_o thy_o sorrow_n help_v on_o thy_o faith_n that_o it_o may_v be_v more_o strong_o carry_v to_o jesus_n christ_n for_o the_o more_o weight_n and_o burden_n of_o thy_o sin_n thou_o feel_v the_o more_o need_n thou_o will_v see_v of_o christ_n as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o sharp_a sauce_n though_o it_o breed_v not_o a_o stomach_n simile_n simile_n yet_o it_o stir_v up_o a_o stomach_n so_o this_o godly_a sorrow_n though_o it_o be_v not_o the_o work_n of_o believe_a yet_o it_o stir_v up_o the_o stomach_n of_o faith_n to_o go_v go_v to_o the_o lord_n jesus_n for_o faith_n be_v the_o go_v out_o of_o the_o soul_n to_o christ_n and_o he_o that_o find_v the_o burden_n of_o his_o sin_n will_v be_v the_o more_o ready_a to_o go_v out_o to_o christ_n again_o
