of_o duty_n or_o obedience_n by_o his_o active_a righteousness_n be_v mean_v the_o righteousness_n of_o his_o action_n as_o they_o be_v a_o perfect_a obedience_n to_o the_o law_n the_o chief_a point_n of_o difference_n and_o difficulty_n lie_v high_a how_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n be_v make_v we_o most_o of_o our_o ordinary_a divine_n say_v that_o christ_n do_v as_o proper_o obey_v in_o our_o room_n and_o stead_n as_o he_o do_v suffer_v in_o our_o stead_n and_o that_o in_o god_n esteem_n and_o in_o point_n of_o law_n we_o be_v in_o christ_n obey_v and_o suffer_v and_o so_o in_o he_o we_o do_v both_o perfect_o fulfil_v the_o command_n of_o the_o law_n by_o obedience_n and_o the_o threaten_n of_o it_o by_o bear_v the_o penalty_n and_o thus_o say_v they_o be_v christ_n righteousness_n impute_v to_o we_o viz._n his_o passive_a righteousness_n for_o the_o pardon_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o deliver_v we_o from_o the_o penalty_n his_o active_a righteousness_n for_o the_o to_o have_v be_v in_o christ_n at_o least_o in_o legal_a title_n before_o we_o do_v believe_v or_o be_v bear_v and_o that_o not_o only_o in_o a_o general_a and_o conditional_a sense_n as_o all_o man_n but_o in_o a_o special_a as_o the_o justify_v indeed_o we_o be_v elect_v in_o christ_n before_o the_o foundation_n of_o the_o world_n but_o that_o be_v a_o term_n of_o diminution_n and_o therefore_o do_v not_o prove_v that_o we_o be_v then_o in_o he_o neither_o god_n decree_n or_o foreknowledge_n give_v we_o any_o legal_a title_n 2._o it_o teach_v imputation_n of_o christ_n righteousness_n in_o so_o strict_a a_o sense_n as_o will_v neither_o stand_n with_o reason_n nor_o the_o doctrine_n of_o scripture_n much_o less_o with_o the_o phrase_n of_o scripture_n which_o mention_v no_o imputation_n of_o christ_n or_o his_o righteousness_n to_o we_o at_o all_o and_o have_v give_v great_a advantage_n to_o the_o papist_n against_o we_o in_o this_o doctrine_n of_o justification_n 3._o it_o seem_v to_o ascribe_v to_o god_n a_o mistake_a judgement_n as_o to_o esteem_v we_o to_o have_v be_v in_o christ_n when_o we_o be_v not_o and_o to_o have_v do_v and_o suffer_v in_o he_o what_o we_o do_v not_o 4._o it_o make_v christ_n to_o have_v pay_v the_o idem_fw-la and_o not_o the_o tantundem_fw-la the_o same_o that_o be_v due_a and_o not_o the_o value_n and_o so_o to_o justify_v we_o by_o payment_n of_o the_o proper_a debt_n and_o not_o by_o strict_a satisfaction_n and_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o very_a core_n of_o the_o mistake_n to_o think_v that_o we_o have_v by_o delegation_n pay_v the_o proper_a debt_n of_o obedience_n to_o the_o whole_a law_n or_o that_o in_o christ_n we_o have_v perfect_o obey_v whereas_o 1._o it_o can_v neither_o be_v say_v that_o we_o do_v it_o 2._o and_o that_o which_o christ_n do_v be_v to_o satisfy_v for_o our_o nonpayment_n and_o disobedience_n 5._o so_o it_o make_v christ_n to_o have_v fulfil_v the_o preceptive_a part_n of_o the_o law_n in_o our_o stead_n and_o room_n in_o as_o strict_a a_o sense_n as_o he_o do_v in_o our_o room_n bear_v the_o punishment_n which_o will_v not_o hold_v good_a though_o for_o our_o sake_n he_o do_v both_o 6._o it_o suppose_v the_o law_n to_o require_v both_o obedience_n and_o suffering_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o same_o time_n and_o action_n which_o it_o do_v not_o and_o whereas_o they_o say_v that_o the_o law_n require_v suffer_v for_o what_o be_v past_a and_o obedience_n for_o the_o future_a this_o be_v to_o deny_v that_o christ_n have_v satisfy_v for_o future_a sin_n the_o time_n be_v near_o when_o those_o future_a sin_n will_v be_v pass_v also_o what_o do_v the_o law_n require_v then_o if_o we_o do_v not_o obey_v for_o the_o future_a than_o we_o sin_v if_o we_o sin_v the_o law_n require_v nothing_o but_o suffer_v for_o expiation_n 7._o this_o opinion_n make_v christ_n suffering_n by_o consequence_n to_o be_v in_o vain_a both_o to_o have_v be_v suffer_v needless_o by_o he_o and_o to_o be_v needless_a also_o now_o to_o we_o for_o if_o we_o do_v perfect_o obey_v the_o law_n in_o christ_n or_o christ_n for_o we_o according_a to_o that_o strict_a imputation_n then_o therere_fw-la be_v no_o use_n for_o suffer_v for_o disobedience_n 8._o it_o fond_o suppose_v a_o medium_n betwixt_o one_o that_o be_v just_a and_o one_o that_o be_v guilty_a and_o a_o difference_n betwixt_o one_o that_o be_v just_a and_o one_o that_o be_v no_o sinner_n one_o that_o have_v his_o sin_n or_o gui●t_v take_v away_o and_o one_o that_o have_v his_o unrighteousness_n take_v away_o it_o be_v true_a in_o bruit_n and_o insensibles_fw-fr that_o be_v not_o subject_n capable_a of_o justice_n there_o be_v a_o medium_n betwixt_o just_a and_o unjust_a and_o innocency_n and_o justice_n be_v not_o the_o same_o there_o be_v a_o negative_a injustice_n which_o deneminate_v the_o subject_a non-justum_a but_o not_o injustum_fw-la where_o righteousness_n be_v not_o due_a but_o where_o there_o be_v the_o debitum_fw-la habendi_fw-la where_o righteousness_n ought_v to_o be_v &_o be_v not_o there_o be_v no_o negative_a unrighteousness_n but_o primative_a as_o there_o be_v no_o middle_n betwixt_o strait_n and_o
