break_v the_o law_n but_o once_o and_o that_o in_o thought_n only_o be_v accurse_v because_o he_o have_v not_o do_v all_o thing_n that_o be_v write_v therein_o now_o wicked_a thought_n be_v a_o breach_n of_o the_o law_n for_o solomon_n say_v 26._o do_v not_o they_o err_v that_o imagine_v evil_a and_o again_o the_o thought_n of_o the_o wicked_a be_v a_o abomination_n to_o the_o lord_n yea_o the_o want_n of_o good_a thought_n be_v a_o breach_n of_o the_o law_n for_o christ_n 30._o say_v thou_o shall_v love_v the_o lord_n thy_o god_n with_o all_o thy_o thought_n and_o therefore_o wicked_a of_o the_o action_n after_o executiou_n come_v trade_n and_o custom_n by_o often_o practice_v and_o upon_o custom_n if_o the_o work_n be_v evil_a come_v the_o curse_n which_o be_v eternal_a death_n how_o great_a a_o cause_n therefore_o have_v we_o to_o repent_v we_o of_o the_o wicked_a imagination_n of_o our_o heart_n the_o old_a world_n indeed_o be_v drown_v for_o their_o actual_a abomination_n but_o no_o doubt_n the_o lord_n have_v great_a respect_n in_o that_o judgement_n to_o their_o wicked_a thought_n which_o be_v the_o root_n of_o all_o and_o therefore_o he_o mention_v they_o as_o a_o cause_n of_o the_o flood_n gen._n 6._o 5._o in_o this_o repentance_n thought_n three_o thing_n be_v require_v first_o a_o due_a examination_n of_o our_o heartr_n concern_v these_o imagination_n which_o we_o may_v take_v by_o the_o knowledge_n of_o those_o point_n before_o handle_v of_o man_n natural_a thought_n concern_v god_n his_o neighbour_n &_o himself_o and_o to_o further_a we_o herein_o we_o must_v remember_v that_o all_o the_o evil_a thought_n before_o mention_v be_v in_o we_o natural_o so_o as_o if_o we_o be_v leave_v to_o ourselves_o when_o occasion_n be_v offer_v we_o will_v conceive_v they_o in_o our_o mind_n as_o that_o there_o be_v no_o god_n that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v foolishness_n etc._n etc._n again_o we_o must_v hear_v god_n word_n preach_v attentive_o &_o apply_v not_o only_o our_o outward_a sense_n but_o our_o mind_n also_o thereto_o that_o so_o it_o may_v enter_v into_o our_o heart_n for_o the_o word_n of_o god_n work_v in_o the_o heart_n will_v discover_v unto_o a_o man_n what_o be_v his_o thought_n this_o word_n say_v the_o holy_a 12._o ghost_n be_v mighty_a inoperation_n and_o sharp_a than_o any_o two_o edge_a sword_n it_o good_a purpose_n and_o withal_o have_v a_o canker_a heart_n towards_o god_n poison_v with_o this_o damnable_a thought_n i_o will_v not_o obey_v the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o every_o man_n that_o have_v inward_o in_o he_o a_o purpose_n to_o live_v though_o but_o in_o one_o sin_n his_o heart_n be_v not_o upright_o with_o god_n neither_o be_v god_n grace_n as_o faith_n and_o repentance_n sound_v in_o his_o heart_n for_o true_a repentance_n be_v a_o purpose_n and_o resolution_n to_o leave_v all_o sin_n and_o to_o please_v god_n in_o all_o thing_n sect._n 4._o of_o this_o thought_n it_o be_v service_n and_o so_o will_v he_o bethink_v himself_o of_o the_o wicked_a man_n estate_n who_o never_o serve_v god_n and_o yet_o be_v in_o better_a case_n outward_o then_o the_o godly_a man_n be_v and_o hereupon_o he_o begin_v to_o say_v in_o his_o heart_n doutble_v it_o be_v a_o vain_a thing_n to_o serve_v god_n for_o the_o examination_n of_o our_o heart_n touch_v this_o thought_n thought_n after_o just_a trial_n it_o will_v be_v find_v among_o we_o as_o the_o state_n of_o all_o sort_n of_o family_n will_v declare_v among_o the_o poor_a sort_n you_o shall_v see_v man_n labour_v from_o morning_n to_o evening_n and_o take_v great_a pain_n to_o provide_v for_o the_o world_n but_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n where_o be_v the_o worship_n and_o service_n of_o god_n where_o be_v prayer_n and_o thanksgiving_n morning_n and_o even_v sure_o it_o be_v neglect_v &_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o they_o think_v thus_o in_o their_o heart_n so_o that_o i_o may_v have_v provision_n for_o the_o world_n it_o be_v no_o matter_n whether_o i_o serve_v god_n or_o not_o come_v to_o the_o rich_a man_n house_n &_o there_o you_o shall_v see_v they_o spend_v their_o time_n in_o eat_v drink_v game_a and_o such_o delight_n but_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n be_v not_o regard_v for_o thus_o they_o think_v with_o themselves_o if_o they_o may_v have_v their_o pleasure_n all_o be_v well_o come_v &_o reason_n with_o ordinary_a man_n and_o exhort_v they_o to_o use_v the_o mean_n of_o salvation_n and_o show_v forth_o love_n unto_o religion_n sincere_o their_o answer_n be_v they_o will_v do_v as_o they_o have_v do_v and_o as_o their_o forefather_n do_v before_o they_o they_o trust_v their_o soul_n be_v as_o good_a to_o god-ward_o as_o the_o best_a and_o for_o aught_o they_o see_v none_o be_v will-worship_n no_o nation_n be_v so_o barbarous_a as_o to_o deny_v unto_o god_n all_o worship_n but_o do_v they_o give_v unto_o he_o that_o which_o he_o command_v in_o his_o word_n nothing_o less_o thought_n concern_v god_n be_v a_o thought_n of_o distrust_n thus_o frame_v in_o the_o mind_n god_n do_v not_o regard_v i_o god_n will_v not_o help_v i_o god_n will_v not_o be_v merciful_a unto_o i_o this_o think_v make_v entrance_n unto_o the_o fall_n of_o our_o first_o parent_n for_o first_o eve_n look_v upon_o the_o fruit_n &_o see_v that_o it_o be_v beutifull_a and_o then_o enter_v into_o and_o so_o she_o sin_v by_o disobedience_n and_o adam_n also_o sin_v when_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n murmur_v in_o the_o wilderness_n a_o moses_n sin_v a_o sin_n for_o he_o be_v debar_v entrance_n into_o the_o land_n of_o canaan_n 12._o now_o what_o be_v moses_n sin_n for_o both_o he_o &_o aron_n 6._o pray_v to_o the_o lord_n and_o check_v the_o people_n say_v hear_v oh_o you_o rebel_n etc._n etc._n and_o at_o god_n commandment_n he_o bring_v water_n out_o of_o the_o rock_n sure_o his_o sin_n be_v secret_a even_o inward_a unbelief_n and_o distrust_n in_o god_n promise_n for_o when_o he_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o this_o be_v a_o natural_a thought_n in_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n which_o at_o some_o time_n trouble_v the_o most_o righteous_a man_n that_o be_v now_o touch_v this_o thought_n of_o distrust_n two_o thing_n be_v to_o be_v skan_v thought_n first_o the_o time_n when_o it_o take_v place_n in_o man_n mind_n and_o second_o the_o danger_n of_o it_o for_o the_o time_n this_o thought_n do_v not_o always_o take_v place_n in_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n but_o only_o in_o the_o time_n of_o some_o danger_n affliction_n and_o temptation_n and_o especial_o in_o the_o time_n of_o sickness_n and_o in_o the_o pang_n of_o death_n thus_o in_o his_o grievous_a affliction_n be_v righteous_a job_n trouble_v with_o this_o thought_n of_o distrust_n for_o than_o he_o complain_v that_o i_o god_n do_v hate_v he_o and_o gnash_v upon_o he_o with_o his_o tooth_n and_o as_o his_o enemy_n sharpen_v his_o eye_n against_o he_o yea_o that_o 12._o he_o make_v he_o as_o his_o butt_n and_o mark_v to_o shoot_v at_o and_o davide_v in_o a_o grievous_a trouble_n of_o mind_n thus_o complain_v 7._o will_v the_o lord_n absent_v himself_o for_o ever_o and_o will_v he_o show_v no_o more_o these_o thought_n of_o distrust_n indeed_o while_o peace_n and_o ease_n continue_v presumptuous_a thought_n possess_v the_o mind_n but_o when_o the_o day_n of_o peace_n be_v go_v &_o troublesome_a time_n approach_v then_o presumptuous_a thought_n give_v place_n and_o thought_n of_o distrust_n come_v in_o their_o room_n &_o stead_n ii_o point_n thought_n the_o danger_n of_o these_o thought_n of_o distrust_n be_v very_o great_a as_o the_o fruit_n thereof_o declare_v for_o hence_o arise_v first_o all_o horror_n and_o terror_n of_o conscience_n all_o fear_n and_o astonishmente_n of_o the_o heart_n for_o when_o the_o mind_n say_v though_o false_o god_n do_v not_o regard_v i_o god_n will_v not_o save_v i_o than_o the_o tremble_a heart_n be_v full_a of_o horror_n and_o dread_n second_o hence_o come_v desperation_n itself_o whereby_o man_n confident_o avouch_v that_o god_n have_v forsake_v they_o and_o cast_v they_o of_o and_o that_o there_o be_v no_o hope_n of_o life_n but_o
