care_n government_n and_o administration_n of_o the_o say_a college_n in_o all_o thing_n as_o lawful_a precedent_n in_o as_o ample_a manner_n and_o form_n as_o any_o other_o ever_o have_v exercise_v possess_v or_o enjoy_v the_o office_n of_o precedent_n in_o the_o same_o college_n command_v the_o vice-president_n fellow_n and_o scholar_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o servant_n of_o the_o say_a college_n and_o all_o and_o every_o person_n who_o by_o any_o mean_n can_v have_v interest_n therein_o that_o they_o kind_o admit_v and_o receive_v he_o as_o precedent_n of_o the_o college_n and_o in_o all_o thing_n obey_v he_o as_o their_o precedent_n notwithstanding_o any_o statute_n and_o ordinance_n of_o the_o say_a college_n though_o swear_v to_o or_o any_o nomination_n or_o election_n of_o the_o say_v nicholas_n bond_n or_o richard_n smith_n by_o any_o of_o the_o fellow_n of_o the_o say_a college_n happy_o do_v in_o their_o late_a difference_n or_o any_o other_o cause_n or_o matter_n in_o any_o thing_n whatsoever_o whatsoever_o 12._o a_o historical_a account_n of_o king_n charles_n the_o first_o dispense_n with_o a_o statute_n of_o emanuel_n college_n in_o cambridge_n i_o shall_v now_o give_v a_o account_n of_o a_o petition_n i_o have_v find_v in_o the_o paper-office_n which_o will_v clear_v the_o matter_n of_o the_o king_n dispense_n power_n with_o college_n statute_n most_o full_o for_o the_o better_a understanding_n this_o petition_n it_o must_v be_v observe_v that_o sir_n walter_n mildmay_n found_v emanuel_n college_n in_o cambridge_n for_o student_n in_o divinity_n that_o it_o may_v be_v a_o nursery_n for_o divine_n and_o give_v several_a benefice_n with_o cure_n of_o soul_n to_o be_v bestow_v upon_o the_o fellow_n as_o they_o fall_v void_a that_o they_o may_v be_v preacher_n in_o the_o country_n that_o therefore_o they_o may_v not_o be_v superannuated_a in_o the_o college_n he_o make_v one_o of_o the_o statute_n de_fw-fr mora_fw-la sociorum_fw-la that_o the_o fellow_n shall_v leave_v the_o college_n some_o short_a space_n of_o time_n after_o they_o be_v doctor_n of_o divinity_n and_o they_o be_v to_o take_v the_o precede_a degree_n according_a to_o the_o strictness_n of_o the_o statute_n of_o the_o university_n for_o the_o take_a degree_n when_o of_o due_a stand_n by_o another_o statute_n de_fw-fr residentia_fw-la sociorum_fw-la they_o be_v tie_v to_o strict_a residence_n so_o that_o they_o can_v not_o go_v abroad_o to_o have_v conversation_n and_o obtain_v the_o advantage_n that_o a_o relaxation_n of_o that_o strict_a residence_n may_v have_v afford_v they_o whereby_o they_o may_v have_v make_v provision_n for_o themselves_o in_o obtain_v benefice_n in_o case_n there_o shall_v none_o fall_v in_o the_o interim_n now_o it_o so_o happen_v that_o the_o founder_n have_v not_o annex_v a_o sufficient_a number_n of_o spiritual_a benefice_n so_o that_o some_o of_o they_o when_o doctor_n of_o divinity_n must_v have_v leave_v the_o college_n un-provided_n for_o these_o consideration_n induce_v some_o of_o the_o fellow_n to_o petition_v for_o a_o dispensation_n with_o this_o statute_n and_o upon_o the_o suggestion_n in_o that_o petition_n king_n charles_n the_o first_o grant_v it_o but_o it_o seem_v this_o dispensation_n be_v not_o so_o well_o like_v by_o other_o and_o even_o some_o of_o the_o first_o petitioner_n join_v with_o they_o and_o exhibit_v this_o follow_a petition_n petition_n 13._o the_o petition_n of_o the_o master_n and_o fellow_n of_o emanuel_n college_n in_o cambridge_n to_o the_o honourable_a chancellor_n of_o the_o university_n humble_o show_v paper-office_n ecclesiastica_fw-la academica_fw-la ab_fw-la an._n 1620._o ad_fw-la 38._o that_o whereas_o a_o petition_n by_o four_o of_o the_o follow_v be_v exhibit_v to_o
