new_a covenant_n not_o better_a nay_o not_o so_o good_a as_o the_o first_o for_o then_o man_n be_v a_o perfect_a creature_n have_v not_o then_o such_o a_o captivate_a power_n of_o sin_n nor_o satan_n peace_n of_o the_o church_n to_o who_o they_o belong_v 8._o moreover_o they_o be_v not_o the_o same_o at_o home_n which_o they_o be_v abroad_o not_o in_o private_a what_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v in_o public_a may_v be_v seldom_o pray_v either_o in_o their_o family_n or_o closet_n or_o if_o they_o do_v it_o be_v with_o little_a zeal_n enlargedness_n or_o affection_n to_o god_n there_o be_v divers_a other_o mark_n and_o character_n of_o hypocrite_n and_o of_o these_o false_a professor_n which_o i_o must_v pass_v by_o because_o i_o will_v speak_v a_o word_n or_o two_o of_o application_n in_o the_o last_o place_n the_o latter_a state_n of_o these_o man_n be_v worse_o than_o the_o first_o 1._o because_o god_n oftentimes_o leave_v they_o to_o judicial_a blindness_n and_o to_o the_o hardness_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n according_a as_o it_o be_v write_v 8._o god_n have_v give_v they_o the_o spirit_n of_o slumber_n eye_n that_o they_o shall_v not_o see_v and_o ear_n that_o they_o shall_v not_o religion_n nay_o and_o they_o prove_v more_o vile_a and_o notorious_a in_o wickedness_n than_o ever_o it_o have_v often_o be_v see_v that_o this_o sort_n of_o man_n who_o forsake_v the_o way_n of_o god_n which_o they_o seem_v to_o own_o and_o profess_v have_v at_o last_o appear_v more_o impudent_a in_o sin_n than_o the_o vile_a man_n be_v ringleader_n to_o all_o lewd_a and_o curse_a practice_n and_o deed_n of_o darkness_n so_o that_o the_o same_o unclean_a spirit_n return_v into_o some_o of_o they_o in_o the_o same_o shape_n also_o though_o i_o can_v see_v any_o ground_n to_o believe_v it_o happen_v so_o to_o they_o all_o for_o doubtless_o many_o of_o they_o retain_v their_o seem_a zeal_n and_o external_a profession_n of_o religion_n and_o outward_a holiness_n until_o they_o die_v evident_a it_o be_v our_o saviour_n apply_v this_o direful_a doom_n on_o the_o people_n of_o that_o generation_n viz._n the_o jew_n particular_o to_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n see_v the_o 38th_o verse_n yet_o certain_a it_o be_v many_o of_o they_o never_o turn_v to_o open_a profaneness_n but_o die_v in_o their_o unbelief_n whilst_o they_o abide_v proud_a and_o zealous_a pharisee_n yet_o i_o
