82._o so_o that_o by_o he_o the_o people_n give_v the_o supreme_a authority_n which_o be_v a_o mighty_a diminution_n to_o all_o supreme_a authority_n and_o indeed_o a_o encroachment_n upon_o the_o prerogative_n of_o god_n by_o who_o and_o who_o alone_a king_n reign_v and_o prince_n bear_v rule_v so_o that_o as_o we_o right_o say_v that_o all_o authority_n in_o a_o kingdom_n be_v derive_v from_o the_o king_n who_o be_v the_o fountain_n of_o all_o authority_n he_o make_v a_o circle_n in_o it_o and_o say_v the_o head_n of_o this_o fountain_n be_v derive_v from_o the_o people_n sect_n iii_o it_o cause_n proceed_v from_o necessity_n the_o force_n of_o this_o argument_n be_v invisible_a for_o though_o this_o will_n do_v proceed_v from_o a_o cause_n as_o he_o express_v it_o yet_o if_o that_o immediate_a cause_n from_o which_o it_o proceed_v be_v not_o necessary_a yea_o if_o any_o one_o link_n in_o the_o chain_n of_o cause_n be_v free_a and_o not_o necessary_a the_o effect_n be_v not_o necessary_a for_o the_o arbitrariness_n of_o any_o one_o will_v make_v the_o effect_n such_o but_o this_o liberty_n of_o the_o agent_n he_o speak_v of_o look_v only_o upon_o the_o immediate_a cause_n which_o in_o humane_a action_n be_v free_a and_o may_v not_o be_v do_v yea_o very_o often_o the_o agent_n may_v choose_v the_o contrary_a that_o the_o first_o cause_n work_v with_o all_o second_o cause_n be_v as_o certain_a as_o any_o thing_n in_o the_o mathematics_n for_o there_o can_v be_v a_o second_o or_o a_o three_o or_o any_o number_n but_o it_o proceed_v from_o a_o first_o and_o yet_o because_o the_o first_o have_v a_o influence_n upon_o the_o rest_n it_o follow_v not_o that_o they_o be_v cipher_n but_o each_o out_o of_o that_o foundation_n have_v its_o several_a operation_n so_o in_o this_o the_o first_o cause_n be_v causa_fw-la generalis_fw-la and_o work_n with_o second_o cause_n which_o be_v derive_v from_o it_o but_o they_o have_v their_o several_a way_n and_o power_n of_o work_v natural_a according_a to_o their_o natural_a inclination_n animal_n according_a to_o the_o peculiar_a disposition_n of_o those_o soul_n which_o inhabit_v they_o only_a man_n have_v a_o free_a nature_n among_o bodily_a thing_n in_o that_o resemble_v the_o great_a cause_n of_o cause_n he_o be_v the_o principle_n of_o those_o action_n which_o he_o do_v as_o a_o man_n voluntary_o and_o therefore_o be_v capable_a of_o command_n active_o to_o do_v and_o the_o other_o creature_n passive_o to_o be_v do_v or_o use_v and_o man_n be_v use_v as_o a_o master_n or_o owner_n under_o god_n of_o they_o a_o steward_z who_o must_v give_v a_o account_n of_o such_o of_o they_o as_o come_v within_o the_o sphere_n of_o his_o dominion_n let_v any_o man_n tell_v i_o how_o a_o man_n can_v be_v capable_a of_o command_n if_o he_o be_v like_o they_o necessitate_v no_o man_n command_v fool_n madman_n or_o infant_n we_o may_v account_v they_o fool_n or_o mad_a who_o shall_v do_v it_o but_o if_o his_o supposition_n impossible_a without_o a_o revelation_n the_o force_n of_o the_o word-see_a his_o hypothesis_n grant_v his_o inference_n will_v not_o follow_v cause_n not_o otherwise_o to_o seem_v then_o as_o they_o be_v in_o their_o own_o nature_n so_o that_o say_v he_o to_o he_o who_o can_v see_v the_o connexion_n of_o thâ—se_a cause_n the_o necessity_n of_o all_o man_n voluntary_a action_n will_v appear_v manifest_a this_o conclusion_n be_v found_v upon_o a_o impossible_a supposal_n there_o be_v no_o possibility_n that_o a_o man_n in_o this_o world_n shall_v see_v that_o chain_n of_o cause_n in_o heaven_n hereafter_o he_o may_v but_o here_o he_o can_v without_o a_o mighty_a strange_a revelation_n but_o suppose_v he_o can_v this_o word_n see_v denote_v a_o clear_a apprehension_n by_o they_o with_o thing_n necessary_a before_o he_o produce_v necessary_a effect_n but_o as_o the_o sun_n concourse_n do_v not_o determine_v this_o thing_n to_o this_o and_o that_o to_o that_o effect_n so_o do_v not_o the_o general_a concourse_n of_o god_n determine_v this_o or_o that_o appetite_n to_o this_o or_o that_o object_n in_o this_o or_o that_o manner_n but_o when_o it_o meet_v with_o thing_n so_o dispose_v it_o concur_v in_o the_o production_n of_o that_o effect_n to_o which_o it_o be_v so_o dispose_v so_o that_o god_n concur_v with_o free_a agent_n make_v they_o no_o more_o necessary_a than_o his_o concur_v with_o necessary_a agent_n make_v they_o free_a it_o be_v the_o same_o infinite_a power_n of_o god_n which_o constitute_v both_o and_o his_o concurrence_n destroy_v neither_o in_o its_o ordinate_a work_n i_o speak_v not_o of_o his_o extraordinary_a operation_n whereby_o he_o can_v and_o do_v control_v all_o the_o frame_n of_o nature_n when_o and_o how_o
