father_n mention_n to_o wit_n sobriety_n and_o abstinence_n as_o for_o scripture_n the_o wise_a solomon_n say_v ecclus_n 31._o 32._o aqua_fw-la vita_fw-la hominibus_fw-la vinum_fw-la in_o abstemious_a who_o be_v before_o intemperate_a and_o will_v observe_v no_o mean_a and_o to_o love_v a_o spare_a diet_n who_o before_o be_v a_o glutton_n and_o slave_n to_o his_o belly_n it_o make_v he_o honest_a chaste_a serious_a bashful_a and_o modest_a who_o before_o be_v give_v to_o all_o dishonesty_n and_o lewdness_n unchaste_a foolish_a and_o shameless_a both_o in_o his_o word_n and_o action_n and_o that_o when_o sobriety_n and_o abstinence_n do_v together_o take_v possession_n of_o a_o soul_n and_o reside_v in_o she_o they_o bridle_v all_o excess_n of_o eat_v and_o drink_v they_o repress_v sensuality_n and_o carnal_a lust_n they_o put_v and_o keep_v in_o good_a order_n all_o the_o motion_n and_o disposition_n of_o the_o mind_n multiply_v good_a and_o holy_a thought_n desire_n affection_n and_o extinguish_v the_o contrary_a sobriety_n chastize_n and_o correct_v all_o vice_n or_o ill-habit_n of_o the_o mind_n help_v all_o imperfection_n rectify_v all_o disorder_n and_o confusion_n that_o happen_v in_o man_n
