the_o epistle_n and_o also_o as_o the_o author_n of_o the_o salutation_n in_o the_o former_a respect_n we_o have_v these_o doctrine_n doct._n 1._o the_o very_a name_n of_o christ_n famous_a disciple_n be_v heretofore_o of_o great_a force_n for_o the_o confirmation_n and_o advancement_n of_o the_o truth_n in_o the_o church_n for_o to_o that_o end_n do_v the_o apostle_n usual_o set_v down_o their_o name_n in_o the_o epistle_n which_o they_o write_v unto_o the_o church_n use_v this_o may_v be_v for_o exhortation_n that_o we_o also_o according_a to_o our_o ability_n shall_v labour_v so_o far_o contemn_v such_o blessing_n whether_o they_o be_v public_a or_o private_a doct._n 3._o it_o be_v a_o honourable_a title_n if_o a_o man_n be_v right_o and_o deserve_o call_v a_o servant_n of_o god_n or_o christ._n reason_n because_o the_o chief_a man_n in_o the_o church_n of_o god_n always_o glory_v in_o this_o title_n not_o only_o the_o apostle_n and_o prophet_n but_o also_o king_n and_o prince_n as_o we_o see_v in_o david_n use_v this_o may_v serve_v to_o comfort_v poor_a christian_n that_o have_v no_o title_n whereof_o to_o boast_v for_o if_o they_o be_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n they_o have_v no_o cause_n to_o envy_v other_o or_o to_o complain_v of_o their_o own_o condition_n now_o that_o it_o may_v be_v know_v who_o be_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n we_o must_v know_v that_o there_o be_v two_o thing_n as_o it_o be_v essential_a to_o a_o servant_n 1._o to_o depend_v upon_o his_o master_n will_v and_o pleasure_n for_o direction_n in_o his_o work_n 2._o to_o refer_v all_o that_o he_o have_v to_o the_o use_n and_o profit_n of_o his_o master_n not_o to_o his_o own_o so_o also_o every_o faithful_a servant_n of_o god_n 1_o depend_v whole_o upon_o god_n for_o or_o kind_n of_o virtue_n and_o duty_n the_o common_a condition_n and_o property_n of_o virtue_n be_v four_o which_o be_v usual_o call_v cardinal_a virtue_n justice_n prudence_n temperance_n and_o fortitude_n justice_n be_v here_o signify_v by_o the_o name_n of_o virtue_n because_o it_o do_v most_o near_o belong_v to_o the_o efficacy_n of_o virtue_n to_o be_v according_a to_o the_o rule_n which_o be_v general_a justice_n prudence_n be_v signify_v by_o knowledge_n because_o prudence_n and_o christian_a wisdom_n consist_v in_o the_o practical_a knowledge_n of_o god_n will_n temperance_n be_v call_v continence_n because_o this_o be_v general_a temperance_n if_o a_o man_n contain_v himself_o or_o abstaine_v from_o those_o enticement_n whereby_o he_o may_v be_v withdraw_v from_o his_o duty_n fortitude_n be_v mean_v here_o by_o patience_n because_o this_o be_v true_a christian_a fortitude_n patient_o to_o suffer_v all_o affliction_n and_o to_o persist_v in_o his_o duty_n notwithstanding_o all_o affliction_n these_o be_v such_o condition_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v in_o every_o duty_n which_o if_o they_o be_v they_o make_v every_o duty_n complete_a nor_o can_v any_o of_o they_o be_v away_o without_o hurt_v of_o the_o virtue_n and_o duty_n the_o kind_n of_o duty_n be_v two_o godliness_n which_o contain_v the_o duty_n of_o the_o first_o table_n and_o charity_n such_o a_o endeavour_n be_v not_o only_o to_o take_v god_n name_n in_o vain_a but_o also_o plain_o to_o mock_v his_o majesty_n our_o endeavour_n also_o must_v be_v join_v with_o the_o grace_n of_o
