against_o us._n for_o when_o the_o sinner_n present_v himself_o and_o do_v public_o confess_v that_o he_o be_v indebt_v to_o god_n and_o in_o offer_v of_o a_o innocent_a beast_n do_v acknowledge_v himself_o worthy_a of_o eternal_a death_n what_o gain_v he_o by_o his_o sacrifice_n unless_o we_o may_v peradventure_o say_v that_o he_o seal_v to_o his_o own_o death_n by_o this_o obligation_n in_o a_o word_n they_o have_v no_o better_a mean_n to_o assure_v they_o of_o the_o remission_n of_o their_o sin_n than_o in_o look_v unto_o christ_n now_o if_o the_o only_o behold_v of_o christ_n do_v wash_v away_o their_o sin_n they_o can_v never_o be_v deliver_v from_o they_o if_o they_o shall_v still_o have_v rest_v in_o the_o law_n true_a it_o be_v that_o david_n say_v psal_n 32.1_o bless_a of_o this_o his_o covenant_n be_v in_o he_o as_o touch_v the_o promise_n of_o the_o eternal_a inheritance_n he_o take_v it_o for_o the_o heritage_n promise_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v the_o promise_n of_o eternal_a life_n have_v not_o otherwise_o have_v his_o effect_n towards_o we_o for_o our_o enjoy_n of_o it_o but_o by_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v very_o sure_a that_o life_n be_v promise_v in_o old_a time_n to_o the_o father_n and_o the_o same_o which_o be_v now_o at_o this_o day_n be_v from_o the_o beginning_n the_o heritage_n of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n but_o we_o enter_v not_o into_o the_o possession_n of_o it_o unless_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n do_v go_v before_o he_o make_v express_a mention_n of_o those_o which_o be_v call_v to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v move_v the_o jew_n with_o the_o great_a care_n who_o be_v partaker_n of_o this_o vocation_n for_o it_o be_v a_o special_a favour_n of_o god_n when_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n be_v give_v we_o and_o therefore_o so_o much_o the_o more_o ought_v we_o to_o take_v heed_n that_o in_o despise_v so_o inestimable_a a_o treasure_n our_o spirit_n do_v not_o wander_v elsewhere_o some_o take_v this_o word_n call_v here_o for_o elect_a but_o unfit_o as_o i_o think_v for_o the_o apostle_n teach_v here_o the_o very_a same_o thing_n that_o s._n paul_n do_v rom._n 3.25_o to_o wit_n that_o righteousness_n and_o salvation_n be_v obtain_v for_o we_o by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n but_o we_o receive_v it_o by_o faith_n for_o where_o a_o testament_n be_v etc._n etc._n ver._n 16_o be_v there_o but_o this_o one_o place_n yet_o be_v it_o sufficient_a to_o show_v that_o this_o epistle_n be_v not_o write_v in_o hebrew_n for_o berith_n in_o the_o hebrew_n tongue_n signify_v covenant_n and_o not_o testament_n but_o because_o the_o greek_a word_n diathece_n have_v these_o two_o signification_n to_o wit_n of_o the_o covenant_n and_o of_o the_o testament_n for_o this_o cause_n the_o apostle_n allude_v to_o the_o second_o signification_n affirm_v that_o the_o promise_n can_v not_o otherwise_o be_v of_o any_o weight_n or_o stability_n unless_o they_o have_v be_v seal_v by_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n
