that_o habit_n in_o man_n which_o we_o call_v mercy_n and_o another_o effect_n which_o in_o man_n we_o will_v conclude_v to_o come_v from_o such_o a_o quality_n or_o habit_n which_o we_o know_v by_o the_o name_n of_o justice_n hence_o we_o style_v the_o first_o cause_n merciful_a and_o just_a yet_o in_o truth_n neither_o of_o these_o be_v proper_a for_o they_o signify_v quality_n neither_o if_o they_o be_v proper_a be_v they_o distinct_a for_o they_o be_v the_o same_o one_o with_o another_o and_o both_o the_o same_o with_o his_o essence_n otherwise_o it_o be_v impossible_a he_o shall_v be_v simple_a for_o shall_v his_o be_v and_o attribute_n be_v several_a he_o shall_v be_v compound_v of_o substance_n and_o accident_n or_o shall_v the_o same_o thing_n which_o we_o call_v justice_n be_v the_o same_o with_o his_o essence_n and_o not_o the_o same_o with_o his_o mercy_n he_o must_v needs_o consist_v of_o several_a being_n divide_v one_o from_o another_o the_o like_a for_o all_o the_o rest_n
inconsistent_a with_o his_o simplicity_n so_o that_o his_o essence_n be_v his_o goodness_n and_o his_o goodness_n the_o same_o with_o his_o essence_n which_o be_v also_o to_o be_v observe_v in_o all_o have_v certain_a instinct_n plant_v in_o they_o by_o their_o first_o creation_n which_o though_o they_o be_v not_o proper_o law_n but_o inclination_n to_o man_n as_o he_o come_v out_o of_o the_o eccentric_a but_o where_o they_o be_v but_o weak_o and_o doubtful_o receive_v in_o the_o understanding_n the_o operation_n of_o the_o understanding_n upon_o they_o be_v but_o weak_a the_o inclination_n in_o the_o will_v weak_a and_o easy_o overmatcht_v with_o the_o least_o difficulty_n and_o seldom_o arrive_v to_o action_n or_o constancy_n in_o the_o life_n for_o according_a to_o the_o measure_n and_o intention_n and_o clearness_n of_o the_o conviction_n of_o the_o understanding_n concern_v any_o object_n the_o more_o fruitful_a rational_a and_o powerful_a be_v those_o practical_a make_v we_o more_o humble_a more_o thankful_a more_o watchful_a than_o they_o may_v just_o make_v we_o more_o confident_a because_o then_o the_o love_n of_o god_n come_v in_o with_o his_o blessing_n man_n make_v himself_o his_o confidence_n for_o he_o that_o trust_v in_o the_o love_n of_o god_n because_o he_o think_v he_o have_v purchase_v or_o procure_v the_o love_n of_o god_n do_v in_o truth_n resolve_v his_o confidence_n into_o himself_o therefore_o look_v upon_o the_o best_a dress_n of_o thy_o soul_n thy_o humility_n thy_o faith_n thy_o love_n thy_o sincerity_n thy_o obedience_n not_o as_o cause_n of_o the_o love_n of_o thy_o god_n or_o the_o price_n or_o purchase_n of_o it_o but_o as_o effect_n and_o evidence_n of_o his_o love_n to_o thou_o look_v upon_o thy_o sincerity_n love_n and_o obedience_n to_o god_n as_o the_o fruit_n and_o sign_n of_o his_o love_n that_o will_v make_v thy_o god_n thy_o confidence_n not_o as_o the_o purchase_n or_o price_n of_o his_o love_n for_o that_o will_v make_v thyself_o thy_o presumption_n be_v they_o thy_o own_o thou_o owe_v they_o and_o infinite_o more_o to_o thy_o creator_n and_o therefore_o can_v not_o deserve_v by_o they_o but_o alas_o they_o be_v not_o thy_o own_o his_o love_n as_o it_o be_v the_o motive_n of_o thou_o so_o it_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o it_o and_o of_o all_o that_o can_v be_v acceptable_a to_o he_o 5._o when_o thou_o till_o thou_o return_v though_o that_o return_n of_o thou_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o that_o love_n which_o be_v still_o in_o he_o though_o thou_o do_v go_v along_o in_o the_o frowardness_n of_o
