delay_n and_o protract_v suit_n and_o protract_v of_o suit_n from_o term_n to_o term_v and_o year_n to_o year_n divise_v a_o thousand_o quirk_n and_o shift_n to_o keep_v the_o cause_n from_o come_v and_o therefore_o moderate_a and_o sanctify_a anger_n be_v so_o far_o from_o hurt_v and_o hinder_v the_o judgement_n of_o reason_n that_o it_o rather_o seruiceable_o aid_v and_o support_v it_o by_o incite_v and_o encourage_v it_o courageous_o to_o execute_v that_o which_o reason_n have_v just_o decree_v and_o resolve_v as_o therefore_o the_o most_o precious_a eye-salue_n do_v present_o after_o of_o anger_n now_o in_o the_o next_o place_n we_o be_v to_o consider_v which_o of_o these_o be_v command_v or_o forbid_v in_o my_o text_n forbid_a what_o anger_n be_v command_v and_o what_o forbid_a first_o for_o the_o affection_n as_o it_o be_v create_v by_o god_n howsoever_o it_o be_v just_a and_o holy_a in_o itself_o yet_o now_o the_o beauty_n and_o excellency_n thereof_o be_v deface_v with_o the_o foul_a spot_n of_o original_a sin_n so_o that_o there_o remain_v only_o some_o relic_n of_o the_o perfection_n wherein_o it_o be_v create_v till_o it_o be_v again_o renew_v and_o restore_v by_o not_o in_o your_o sin_n let_v not_o the_o sun_n go_v down_o on_o your_o wrath_n the_o most_o of_o our_o new_a interpreter_n think_v that_o the_o first_o word_n be_v rather_o a_o permission_n then_o unlawful_a as_o they_o understand_v it_o i_o will_v know_v how_o we_o can_v be_v angry_a and_o sin_n not_o but_o say_v they_o if_o a_o holy_a anger_n be_v here_o mean_v what_o need_v the_o word_n be_v angry_a and_o spare_v not_o so_o that_o your_o anger_n be_v just_a and_o holy_a but_o see_v by_o reason_n of_o your_o infirmity_n and_o corruption_n your_o just_a anger_n may_v easy_o degenerate_v and_o become_v unjust_a if_o due_a time_n place_n person_n and_o other_o circumstance_n be_v not_o observe_v therefore_o take_v heed_n you_o sin_v not_o by_o be_v unjust_o angry_a yet_o if_o through_o infirmity_n you_o fall_v into_o this_o sin_n do_v not_o harbour_v it_o no_o not_o one_o day_n
that_o both_o body_n and_o soul_n may_v be_v save_v and_o these_o be_v the_o thing_n require_v in_o just_a and_o holy_a anger_n which_o if_o we_o observe_v our_o anger_n will_v be_v not_o only_o for_o who_o can_v carry_v fire_n in_o his_o bosom_n and_o not_o be_v burn_v prou._n 6.27_o but_o the_o dangerousnes_n of_o this_o affection_n will_v more_o evident_o appear_v if_o we_o consider_v the_o violence_n thereof_o affection_n sect._n 2_o the_o violence_n of_o this_o turbulent_a affection_n for_o there_o be_v scarce_o any_o other_o affection_n so_o strong_a which_o it_o do_v not_o easy_o subdue_v love_n be_v say_v to_o be_v strong_a than_o death_n can._n 8.6_o and_o yet_o anger_n if_o it_o be_v once_o admit_v easy_o overcom_v it_o 8.6_o can._n 8.6_o for_o there_o be_v never_o any_o love_n so_o hearty_a and_o entire_a but_o anger_n have_v subdue_v it_o the_o father_n in_o his_o anger_n forget_v his_o love_n to_o his_o child_n and_o the_o child_n to_o his_o father_n the_o husband_n to_o his_o wife_n the_o wife_n to_o her_o husband_n and_o cause_v they_o in_o stead_n of_o duty_n of_o love_n to_o bring_v forth_o the_o fruit_n of_o hatred_n yea_o it_o make_v a_o man_n to_o forget_v the_o love_n of_o himself_o as_o appear_v by_o those_o man_n who_o to_o satisfy_v their_o anger_n violent_o thrust_v themselves_o into_o imminent_a danger_n of_o death_n nay_o it_o make_v a_o man_n offer_v rage_a violence_n against_o such_o a_o friend_n as_o be_v more_o dear_a to_o he_o then_o his_o own_o life_n as_o it_o be_v evident_a in_o the_o example_n of_o alexander_n who_o in_o his_o anger_n slay_v his_o friend_n clitus_n who_o he_o love_v so_o entire_o that_o he_o needs_o will_v have_v revenge_v his_o murder_n by_o put_v himself_o to_o a_o wilful_a death_n as_o therefore_o we_o can_v discern_v the_o heat_n of_o the_o sun_n when_o we_o be_v near_o unto_o a_o scorch_a fire_n so_o the_o heavenly_a heat_n of_o divine_a love_n be_v not_o feel_v if_o the_o furious_a flame_n of_o anger_n be_v kindle_v in_o our_o heart_n covetousness_n also_o be_v a_o most_o violent_a and_o strong_a vice_n which_o nothing_o almost_o can_v vanquish_v but_o death_n and_o small_a worldly_a trifle_n and_o yet_o anger_v be_v once_o admit_v do_v overcome_v covetousness_n as_o it_o be_v evident_a in_o the_o example_n of_o they_o who_o to_o satisfy_v their_o furious_a anger_n by_o the_o death_n of_o their_o enemy_n be_v content_a to_o forfeit_v their_o good_n though_o they_o be_v never_o so_o covetous_a beside_o the_o double_a hazard_n of_o their_o life_n which_o they_o incur_v both_o in_o their_o private_a quarrel_n and_o in_o satisfy_v by_o deserve_a punishment_n public_a justice_n the_o like_a also_o may_v be_v say_v of_o they_o who_o by_o anger_n be_v incite_v to_o revenge_n be_v content_a to_o spend_v all_o their_o substance_n by_o prosecute_a wrangle_a suit_n in_o law_n of_o little_a or_o no_o importance_n to_o the_o end_n they_o may_v impoverish_v he_o also_o with_o who_o they_o be_v offend_v and_o so_o be_v content_a to_o pull_v the_o house_n upon_o their_o own_o head_n that_o they_o may_v overwhelm_v another_o under_o the_o weight_n of_o the_o same_o ruin_n fear_v also_o be_v a_o affection_n of_o no_o small_a force_n and_o violence_n for_o oftentimes_o it_o compel_v man_n to_o thrust_v themselves_o into_o imminent_a danger_n that_o they_o may_v avoid_v danger_n and_o to_o kill_v themselves_o for_o fear_n of_o great_a torment_n and_o yet_o anger_n vanquisheth_z fear_n many_o time_n cause_v they_o who_o will_v tremble_v to_o see_v another_o wound_n contemn_v their_o own_o death_n and_o so_o turn_v the_o most_o cowardly_a fear_n into_o most_o desperate_a rage_n and_o furious_a resolution_n so_o that_o other_o affection_n lead_v a_o man_n but_o this_o draw_v he_o other_o entice_v he_o but_o this_o compel_v he_o other_o dazzle_v the_o sight_n of_o reason_n but_o this_o make_v it_o stark_o blind_a other_o make_v we_o prone_a unto_o evil_n but_o this_o cast_v we_o headlong_o even_o into_o the_o gulf_n of_o wickedness_n consider_v therefore_o that_o this_o turbulent_a vice_n of_o unjust_a anger_n be_v in_o the_o eye_n of_o god_n so_o heinous_a 3_o sect._n 3_o in_o regard_n of_o we_o so_o general_a and_o in_o respect_n of_o it_o own_o nature_n so_o strong_a &_o violent_a i_o purpose_v to_o entreat_v of_o it_o at_o large_a to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v learn_v the_o better_a to_o prevent_v it_o or_o the_o more_o easy_o to_o subdue_v it_o and_o to_o this_o purpose_n i_o will_v first_o show_v what_o it_o be_v and_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n and_o property_n thereof_o second_o the_o kind_n of_o it_o and_o last_o i_o will_v prescribe_v the_o preseruative_n and_o medicine_n whereby_o we_o may_v cure_v this_o vice_n in_o ourselves_o or_o in_o other_o for_o the_o first_o anger_n the_o definition_n of_o
