the_o poor_a soul_n as_o ravish_v with_o a_o desire_n to_o attain_v unto_o the_o say_a mean_n or_o exercise_n so_o high_o commend_v and_o so_o necessary_a for_o all_o that_o true_o thirst_v after_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o joy_n of_o heaven_n do_v entreat_v the_o holy_a father_n that_o they_o may_v be_v receive_v into_o that_o happy_a and_o bless_a exercise_n their_o motion_n at_o the_o first_o in_o that_o behalf_n the_o good_a father_n seem_v little_a to_o regard_v say_v that_o peradventure_o this_o their_o desire_n proceed_v of_o passion_n and_o therefore_o their_o manner_n be_v to_o leave_v they_o in_o this_o sort_n for_o the_o first_o time_n add_v with_o what_o deliberation_n and_o judgement_n that_o sacred_a exercise_n be_v to_o be_v undertake_v as_o be_v the_o ladder_n of_o jacob_n whereby_o they_o may_v ascend_v into_o the_o three_o heaven_n and_o there_o see_v and_o behold_v the_o admirable_a mystery_n of_o god_n if_o the_o party_n thus_o catch_v be_v of_o great_a possession_n wealth_n or_o parentage_n they_o be_v much_o the_o soon_o entreat_v to_o admit_v he_o to_o this_o exercise_n the_o manner_n whereof_o be_v thus_o the_o party_n at_o the_o time_n appoint_v come_v to_o the_o holy_a father_n who_o must_v deal_v with_o he_o be_v reclude_v from_o the_o speech_n of_o any_o body_n but_o the_o say_a father_n for_o a_o certain_a time_n upon_o his_o first_o reclusion_n the_o father_n come_v unto_o he_o and_o give_v he_o a_o meditation_n to_o study_v upon_o for_o some_o four_o or_o five_o hour_n will_v he_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n careful_o to_o remember_v all_o the_o cogitation_n that_o do_v come_v into_o his_o mind_n the_o say_v four_o or_o five_o hour_n expire_v in_o come_v this_o good_a father_n and_o then_o the_o party_n must_v be_v confess_v and_o be_v to_o reveal_v all_o his_o particular_a thought_n of_o what_o matter_n soever_o good_a or_o bad_a that_o come_v into_o his_o mind_n all_o the_o time_n of_o his_o aforesaid_a meditation_n which_o do_v the_o father_n give_v the_o party_n another_o meditation_n with_o the_o like_a instruction_n to_o the_o former_a and_o after_o the_o like_a distance_n of_o time_n return_v he_o hear_v his_o confession_n again_o and_o thus_o the_o party_n be_v exercise_v diverse_a time_n every_o day_n the_o space_n of_o nine_o day_n or_o thereabouts_o which_o be_v a_o pass_v good_a order_n able_a to_o mortify_v a_o heart_n of_o flint_n but_o harken_v what_o follow_v in_o this_o space_n the_o holy_a father_n have_v frame_v the_o say_v meditation_n according_a to_o his_o own_o drift_n for_o example_n if_o the_o party_n be_v rich_a then_o of_o the_o contempt_n of_o the_o world_n &_o the_o vanity_n of_o worldly_a riches_n and_o further_o perceive_v by_o his_o confession_n his_o disposition_n and_o what_o effect_n the_o say_a meditation_n have_v wrought_v etc._n it_o will_v seem_v strange_a to_o some_o to_o hear_v that_o the_o jesuit_n shall_v ordinary_o reveal_v confession_n per_fw-la tertiam_fw-la vel_fw-la quartam_fw-la personam_fw-la or_o sub_fw-la incerto_fw-la nomine_fw-la yet_o so_o have_v they_o do_v most_o base_o as_o will_v be_v prove_v against_o they_o verbi_fw-la gratia_fw-la thus_o he_o will_v find_v a_o occasion_n after_o one_o have_v be_v with_o he_o at_o confession_n who_o sin_n he_o be_v willing_a to_o have_v make_v know_v to_o ask_v of_o his_o fellow_n what_o say_v you_o to_o such_o a_o case_n a_o man_n or_o woman_n fall_v into_o such_o or_o such_o a_o sin_n &_o after_o come_v to_o the_o sacraman_n s_o without_o confession_n make_v thereof_o what_o case_n be_v he_o in_o etc._n etc._n and_o then_o they_o foreknow_v of_o a_o general_a compact_n make_v among_o they_o how_o to_o reveal_v secret_n one_o to_o another_o by_o put_v out_o of_o case_n and_o doubt_n that_o may_v rise_v at_o every_o time_n they_o be_v confess_v they_o know_v by_o this_o mean_a that_o see_v such_o a_o party_n wâ—â—_n last_o confess_v ergoâ—_n be_v of_o he_o or_o heâ—_n that_o it_o be_v â—â—â—nt_a etc._n etc._n and_o be_v likely_a in_o the_o end_n to_o work_v in_o he_o which_o always_o must_v be_v the_o forsake_v of_o the_o world_n as_o they_o term_v it_o and_o for_o the_o most_o part_n if_o they_o find_v he_o by_o this_o trial_n a_o sit_v man_n for_o the_o entrance_n into_o some_o profession_n of_o religion_n then_o he_o tell_v he_o a_o long_a tale_n of_o the_o fruit_n of_o his_o say_a exercise_n as_o that_o he_o well_o perceive_v by_o his_o sundry_a confession_n how_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n have_v wrought_v in_o he_o by_o the_o mean_n of_o his_o say_a meditation_n and_o that_o he_o now_o suppose_v he_o to_o be_v fit_a to_o enter_v into_o the_o consideration_n and_o choice_n of_o that_o call_n whereunto_o god_n himself_o have_v ordain_v he_o to_o lead_v his_o life_n and_o walk_n in_o towards_o the_o
