any_o thing_n upon_o we_o but_o he_o will_v have_v our_o eye_n upon_o he_o that_o we_o may_v love_v and_o delight_n in_o he_o that_o bestow_v all_o upon_o we_o so_o much_o brief_o for_o the_o open_n of_o it_o now_o i_o shall_v conclude_v at_o this_o time_n with_o a_o word_n or_o two_o of_o use_n &_o leave_v the_o rest_n for_o another_o opportunity_n the_o use_n for_o the_o present_a be_v this_o that_o you_o may_v clear_o learn_v hence_o that_o sinner_n and_o carnal_a man_n man_n that_o be_v not_o bear_v again_o or_o be_v not_o new_a humble_v use_v 1._o unregenerate_a man_n can_v be_v true_o humble_v creature_n they_o can_v be_v true_o humble_v they_o can_v have_v no_o true_a humiliation_n because_o as_o it_o be_v evident_o prove_v in_o the_o doctrine_n before_o they_o have_v no_o true_a sight_n of_o god_n therefore_o they_o can_v be_v true_o humble_v they_o may_v keep_v fast_n and_o come_v to_o church_n and_o hear_v sermon_n and_o do_v a_o great_a many_o thing_n but_o they_o can_v be_v true_o humble_v they_o may_v have_v divers_a thing_n like_o humiliation_n but_o it_o be_v not_o true_a gospel_n sin_n yet_o he_o may_v 1_o see_v his_o sin_n save_v humiliation_n as_o for_o instance_n a_o wicked_a carnal_a man_n he_o may_v see_v his_o sin_n and_o he_o may_v be_v convince_v of_o they_o in_o a_o naturallway_o just_o for_o all_o the_o world_n as_o a_o man_n by_o the_o statute_n of_o england_n if_o he_o have_v break_v any_o of_o they_o if_o he_o read_v the_o statute_n by_o the_o strength_n of_o reason_n he_o may_v say_v i_o have_v break_v the_o statute_n and_o so_o he_o may_v by_o read_v the_o book_n of_o god_n god_n say_v that_o whormonger_n drunkard_n and_o covetous_a shall_v not_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o he_o may_v say_v but_o i_o be_o such_o a_o one_o he_o may_v do_v this_o in_o a_o natural_a way_n alas_o this_o be_v far_o enough_o from_o humiliation_n nay_o far_o the_o lord_n may_v put_v wrath_n in_o the_o terrify_v 2_o he_o may_v be_v terrify_v law_n he_o may_v put_v wrath_n in_o judgement_n and_o affliction_n and_o he_o may_v be_v terrify_v and_o woeful_o trouble_v because_o of_o sin_n and_o yet_o not_o be_v humble_v so_o the_o devil_n in_o hell_n though_o they_o have_v enough_o of_o that_o yet_o they_o be_v not_o humble_v so_o judas_n and_o cain_n and_o saul_n they_o be_v trouble_v
be_v the_o chief_a principle_n that_o the_o creature_n shall_v desire_v its_o own_o preservation_n it_o be_v so_o in_o all_o creature_n grace_n screw_v up_o and_o make_v nature_n spiritual_a but_o grace_n go_v not_o contrary_a to_o the_o main_n and_o solid_a principle_n of_o pure_a nature_n now_o therefore_o i_o say_v that_o a_o man_n by_o grace_n shall_v be_v bring_v to_o wish_v his_o own_o destruction_n it_o be_v very_o harsh_a for_o beside_o that_o it_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o principle_n of_o nature_n god_n ground_n of_o true_a submission_n to_o god_n it_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n for_o what_o be_v it_o that_o make_v i_o submit_v to_o god_n it_o be_v because_o i_o have_v love_a thought_n of_o he_o and_o i_o conceive_v of_o his_o love_n to_o i_o and_o the_o like_a if_o i_o shall_v look_v upon_o god_n as_o a_o enemy_n i_o shall_v love_v he_o no_o more_o than_o the_o devil_n himself_o do_v it_o be_v ordinary_o so_o but_o what_o may_v be_v in_o one_o soul_n or_o two_o or_o a_o few_o i_o know_v not_o but_o that_o which_o i_o mean_v be_v in_o ordinary_a mercy_n especial_o in_o temporal_a mercy_n it_o be_v the_o frame_n of_o a_o humble_a heart_n to_o sit_v still_o and_o be_v quiet_a if_o god_n deny_v the_o mercy_n that_o be_v one_o thing_n another_o thing_n be_v this_o that_o as_o a_o humble_a heart_n mercy_n 2._o he_o be_v content_a that_o god_n shall_v take_v away_o any_o mercy_n will_v be_v content_a that_o god_n shall_v deny_v he_o any_o mercy_n so_o second_o he_o be_v content_v if_o it_o please_v god_n to_o take_v away_o any_o mercy_n that_o he_o have_v god_n shall_v pick_v and_o choose_v and_o if_o he_o will_v take_v away_o all_o yet_o he_o be_v content_v and_o quiet_a it_o be_v just_a with_o a_o humble_a heart_n towards_o god_n as_o you_o read_v of_o a_o honest_a heart_a man_n in_o the_o book_n of_o god_n that_o be_v humble_a towards_o david_n you_o shall_v read_v of_o he_o in_o 2_o sam._n 19_o 24._o it_o thou_o have_v a_o humble_a heart_n thou_o will_v not_o be_v in_o a_o rage_n and_o say_v let_v he_o take_v all_o in_o a_o desperate_a humour_n but_o he_o say_v meek_o let_v he_o take_v this_o or_o that_o or_o all_o if_o he_o will_v so_o i_o may_v enjoy_v he_o and_o his_o love_n i_o will_v bless_v god_n i_o say_v when_o thou_o can_v bless_v god_n notwithstanding_o all_o be_v go_v this_o be_v job_n condition_n god_n take_v all_o from_o job_n one_o after_o another_o in_o a_o little_a while_n as_o we_o see_v in_o job_n 1._o say_v job_n notwithstanding_o god_n have_v take_v all_o from_o i_o naked_a come_v i_o out_o of_o my_o mother_n womb_n and_o the_o lord_n give_v and_o the_o lord_n take_v bless_a be_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n or_o as_o it_o be_v in_o some_o old_a greek_a copy_n as_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n so_o come_v thing_n to_o pass_v bless_a be_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n he_o bless_v the_o lord_n that_o have_v take_v away_o his_o child_n and_o throw_v down_o his_o house_n yet_o he_o can_v bless_v he_o now_o look_v a_o little_a upon_o your_o heart_n how_o you_o find_v your_o spirit_n when_o god_n have_v deny_v you_o mercy_n when_o god_n have_v take_v away_o mercy_n as_o i_o can_v give_v you_o many_o instance_n but_o to_o name_v one_o or_o two_o it_o may_v be_v when_o thou_o be_v a_o carnal_a man_n that_o thou_o be_v a_o very_a honourable_a man_n in_o thy_o country_n thou_o be_v the_o only_a statesman_n the_o man_n that_o do_v do_v all_o the_o business_n but_o now_o since_o thou_o be_v religious_a thou_o be_v despise_v and_o there_o be_v none_o that_o make_v use_v of_o thou_o thy_o honour_n be_v go_v thou_o be_v account_v a_o wise_a man_n but_o now_o thou_o be_v account_v a_o mope_v and_o a_o sot_n thou_o be_v once_o account_v a_o fine_a young_a man_n or_o woman_n and_o now_o thy_o esteem_n be_v go_v can_v thou_o be_v content_a that_o god_n have_v rub_v off_o these_o mercy_n that_o one_o while_o he_o take_v away_o thy_o honour_n another_o while_n thy_o wealth_n another_o while_n thy_o friend_n and_o yet_o thou_o can_v bless_v the_o name_n of_o god_n this_o a_o humble_a heart_n can_v do_v another_o thing_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o mercy_n 3._o a_o humble_a heart_n will_v wait_v for_o mercy_n god_n be_v this_o that_o a_o humble_a heart_n can_v be_v content_a to_o wait_v upon_o the_o lord_n though_o he_o stay_v never_o so_o long_o for_o the_o least_o mercy_n proud_a heart_n unless_o you_o feed_v they_o in_o have_v they_o will_v be_v go_v a_o proud_a heart_n will_v not_o wait_v on_o god_n but_o a_o humble_a heart_n will_v stay_v god_n leisure_n till_o he_o give_v he_o what_o he_o please_v and_o how_o he_o please_v hab._n 2_o 3._o the_o vision_n be_v for_o a_o appoint_a time_n but_o at_o the_o end_n it_o shall_v speak_v and_o not_o lie_v though_o it_o tarry_v wait_v for_o it_o because_o it_o will_v sure_o come_v it_o will_v not_o tarry_v behold_v his_o soul_n which_o be_v lift_v up_o be_v not_o upright_o in_o he_o but_o the_o just_a shall_v live_v by_o his_o faith_n the_o proud_a heart_n and_o the_o just_a man_n live_v by_o faith_n be_v put_v opposite_a one_o to_o the_o other_o the_o just_a shall_v live_v by_o faith_n that_o be_v though_o he_o desire_v mercy_n yet_o he_o shall_v be_v content_a to_o wait_v on_o god_n but_o he_o that_o have_v his_o soul_n lift_v up_o he_o will_v be_v go_v he_o will_v not_o stay_v for_o god_n just_o like_o that_o wicked_a king_n that_o you_o read_v of_o in_o the_o book_n of_o god_n this_o evil_a say_v he_o come_v of_o the_o lord_n what_o shall_v i_o stay_v for_o he_o any_o long_o a_o wretched_a man_n so_o a_o unhumbled_a heart_n say_v what_o shall_v i_o stay_v for_o god_n any_o long_o in_o this_o and_o so_o he_o take_v base_a course_n to_o help_v himself_o and_o will_v not_o wait_v upon_o god_n and_o go_v in_o god_n way_n it_o be_v a_o thing_n high_o commend_v in_o the_o saint_n throughout_o all_o the_o scripture_n when_o they_o have_v a_o frame_n of_o heart_n to_o wait_v on_o god_n as_o abraham_n the_o father_n of_o the_o faithful_a we_o read_v of_o he_o in_o act_n 7._o when_o god_n bring_v he_o from_o his_o father_n house_n and_o from_o his_o whole_a estate_n and_o lead_v he_o abroad_o from_o one_o place_n to_o another_o and_o have_v bring_v he_o at_o the_o last_o to_o the_o land_n of_o canaan_n where_o he_o have_v not_o one_o foot_n of_o land_n and_o his_o posterity_n be_v not_o to_o possess_v it_o of_o four_o hundred_o year_n after_o yet_o he_o bless_v god_n and_o raise_v altar_n
