that_o they_o may_v rejoice_v but_o shall_v have_v abundant_a joy_n in_o the_o immediate_a fruition_n of_o the_o lord_n presence_n for_o this_o only_a abide_v with_o man_n of_o his_o labour_n the_o day_n of_o his_o life_n which_o god_n give_v he_o under_o the_o sun_n he_o have_v this_o expression_n under_o the_o sun_n twice_o in_o this_o verse_n to_o draw_v the_o heart_n of_o the_o godly_a to_o long_o for_o that_o better_a condition_n above_o the_o sun_n ver._n 16._o when_o i_o apply_v my_o heart_n to_o know_v wisdom_n and_o to_o see_v the_o business_n that_o be_v do_v upon_o the_o earth_n for_o also_o there_o be_v that_o neither_o day_n nor_o night_n see_v sleep_n with_o his_o eye_n 17_o then_o i_o behold_v all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n that_o a_o man_n can_v find_v out_o the_o work_n that_o be_v do_v under_o the_o sun_n because_o though_o a_o man_n labour_n to_o seek_v it_o out_o yet_o he_o shall_v not_o find_v it_o yea_o far_a though_o a_o wise_a man_n think_v to_o know_v it_o have_v comfort_n under_o the_o sad_a dispensation_n he_o do_v here_o by_o relate_v his_o own_o experience_n labour_n to_o humble_v all_o the_o student_n of_o that_o wisdom_n in_o the_o sense_n of_o their_o own_o weakness_n and_o impotency_n to_o comprehend_v full_o or_o to_o satisfaction_n the_o work_n of_o god_n providence_n in_o the_o government_n of_o this_o world_n especial_o these_o dispensation_n which_o seem_v so_o favourable_a to_o the_o wicked_a and_o severe_a to_o the_o godly_a that_o so_o they_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o reverence_n and_o submit_v unto_o the_o sovereignty_n and_o unsearchable_a wisdom_n of_o god_n manifest_v in_o these_o dispensation_n though_o they_o can_v satisfy_v themselves_o as_o to_o the_o reason_n of_o they_o nor_o reconcile_v the_o difference_n which_o seem_v to_o be_v between_o the_o promise_n and_o the_o threaten_n of_o the_o word_n upon_o the_o one_o part_n and_o the_o deal_n of_o the_o lord_n with_o good_a and_o bad_a upon_o the_o other_o this_o seem_v to_o be_v the_o main_a scope_n of_o these_o two_o verse_n and_o in_o express_v hereof_o solomon_n do_v first_o give_v account_n of_o his_o painful_a study_n to_o understand_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n in_o his_o dispensation_n and_o this_o in_o several_a particular_n 1._o his_o seriousness_n therein_o he_o apply_v or_o as_o the_o word_n be_v he_o give_v away_o his_o heart_n to_o know_v wisdom_n this_o to_o know_v wisdom_n be_v not_o a_o tautology_n but_o it_o be_v to_o get_v the_o experimental_a and_o heart_n affect_v knowledge_n as_o the_o expression_n signify_v of_o what_o he_o do_v in_o some_o measure_n know_v or_o that_o he_o labour_v so_o to_o reflect_v upon_o his_o own_o knowledge_n as_o he_o may_v be_v suitable_o affect_v therewith_o 2._o he_o show_v how_o large_a the_o subject_n of_o his_o study_n be_v the_o business_n that_o be_v do_v upon_o the_o earth_n business_n as_o the_o word_n signify_v be_v the_o humble_v and_o toilsome_a exercise_n which_o god_n carve_v out_o to_o man_n and_o which_o man_n undertake_v in_o the_o world_n so_o that_o the_o object_n of_o his_o study_n be_v both_o humane_a affair_n and_o divine_a dispensation_n which_o be_v both_o to_o be_v consider_v in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n 3._o his_o extraordinary_a diligence_n and_o pain_n in_o that_o study_n which_o he_o do_v modest_o propose_v in_o the_o three_o person_n as_o if_o he_o be_v speak_v of_o other_o there_o be_v say_v he_o that_o neither_o night_n nor_o day_n take_v sleep_v which_o though_o it_o may_v be_v true_a of_o man_n excessive_a care_n and_o anxiety_n about_o thing_n worldly_a or_o of_o their_o pain_n in_o the_o study_n of_o knowledge_n yet_o by_o the_o scope_n and_o cohesion_n of_o these_o two_o verse_n wherein_o he_o relate_v only_o his_o own_o experience_n it_o be_v most_o fit_v to_o apply_v it_o to_o himself_o as_o speak_v modest_o of_o his_o own_o pain_n in_o the_o person_n of_o other_o as_o paul_n do_v 2_o cor._n 12.1_o the_o 4._o thing_n concern_v his_o study_n be_v the_o main_a and_o principal_a subject_n thereof_o then_o say_v he_o i_o behold_v all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n the_o meaning_n be_v that_o of_o all_o these_o this_o be_v his_o study_n next_o he_o give_v account_n of_o his_o success_n in_o this_o painful_a study_n and_o that_o be_v he_o have_v learn_v one_o profitable_a lesson_n namely_o that_o he_o be_v a_o bad_a scholar_n and_o so_o may_v every_o man_n find_v himself_o he_o find_v that_o a_o man_n can_v find_v out_o the_o work_n of_o god_n which_o may_v be_v either_o apply_v to_o man_n in_o nature_n improve_n their_o natural_a part_n with_o that_o common_a assistance_n and_o influence_n which_o be_v not_o ordinary_o deny_v unto_o they_o to_o the_o outmost_a and_o then_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o they_o can_v find_v out_o any_o thing_n conduce_v to_o their_o true_a happiness_n or_o it_o may_v be_v apply_v to_o man_n endue_v with_o save_v knowledge_n and_o have_v god_n spirit_n present_a with_o they_o in_o the_o measure_n that_o he_o see_v fit_v and_o so_o the_o meaning_n be_v they_o can_v in_o this_o state_n full_o comprehend_v nor_o know_v all_o that_o be_v to_o be_v know_v of_o god_n in_o his_o dispensation_n and_o three_o he_o give_v the_o reason_n of_o this_o deficiency_n take_v from_o man_n weakness_n and_o this_o he_o illustrat_n by_o suppose_v he_o to_o have_v four_o advantage_n in_o his_o study_n 1._o suppose_v he_o take_v never_o so_o much_o pain_n and_o labour_n in_o the_o use_n of_o mean_n 2._o suppose_v his_o search_n be_v never_o so_o accurate_a as_o be_v import_v in_o that_o expression_n though_o a_o man_n labour_n which_o signify_v painful_o to_o labour_n to_o seek_v it_o out_o the_o word_n signify_v to_o seek_v serious_o and_o assiduous_o 3._o suppose_v he_o to_o have_v a_o stock_n of_o wisdom_n to_o trade_n with_o in_o his_o study_n and_o that_o of_o the_o best_a sort_n for_o in_o this_o book_n the_o godly_a or_o the_o person_n endue_v with_o save_v knowledge_n be_v ordinary_o design_v by_o the_o name_n the_o wise_a man._n and_o 4._o suppose_v this_o wise_a man_n to_o have_v a_o fix_a resolution_n and_o to_o have_v engage_v himself_o express_o never_o to_o give_v over_o his_o search_n though_o he_o think_v to_o know_v it_o the_o word_n be_v though_o he_o say_v it_o or_o though_o he_o purpose_v it_o yet_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o find_v it_o or_o comprehend_v it_o full_o so_o as_o he_o may_v be_v satisfy_v with_o any_o measure_n of_o knowledge_n he_o have_v attain_v but_o must_v adore_v and_o reverence_n god_n as_o most_o righteous_a wise_a and_o holy_a in_o all_o his_o dispensation_n though_o he_o can_v see_v a_o reason_n of_o many_o of_o they_o yea_o though_o the_o contrary_n shall_v appear_v to_o his_o carnal_a reason_n and_o sense_n hence_o learn_v 1._o so_o dull_a be_v the_o heart_n of_o the_o best_a in_o take_v up_o thing_n profitable_a and_o so_o apt_a to_o weary_a and_o wander_v in_o the_o study_n thereof_o that_o both_o minister_n in_o study_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o people_n in_o hear_v of_o it_o deliver_v have_v need_v frequent_o and_o serious_o to_o apply_v and_o give_v up_o their_o heart_n of_o new_a to_o the_o same_o and_o to_o be_v exhort_v to_o attention_n for_o solomon_n often_o before_o have_v express_v this_o his_o serious_a and_o accurate_a study_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o here_o he_o do_v it_o again_o import_v that_o he_o hold_v his_o heart_n to_o it_o and_o that_o those_o who_o shall_v read_v or_o hear_v this_o book_n will_v need_v
