the_o shortness_n of_o this_o life_n and_o how_o death_n be_v nigh_o at_o thy_o elbow_n if_o the_o death_n of_o other_o who_o we_o know_v not_o can_v move_v we_o yet_o let_v we_o be_v move_v through_o the_o death_n of_o our_o friend_n and_o familiar_n let_v our_o own_o danger_n and_o grievous_a sickness_n whereinto_o we_o fall_v oftentime_o move_v us._n and_o we_o that_o consider_v not_o our_o own_o infirmity_n through_o the_o trouble_n of_o other_o let_v we_o confess_v our_o frailty_n and_o mortality_n of_o mankind_n at_o least_o wise_a through_o our_o own_o weakness_n wherewithal_a we_o be_v tempt_v which_o thing_n if_o we_o will_v do_v we_o shall_v perceive_v there_o be_v no_o cause_n why_o we_o shall_v flatter_v ourselves_o with_o a_o vain_a and_o deceitful_a hope_n of_o long_a shall_v live_v till_o he_o be_v old_a think_v thou_o which_o neglecte_v and_o over-pass_a the_o offer_a time_n and_o occasion_n to_o repent_v think_v thou_o i_o say_v to_o have_v the_o like_a opportunity_n when_o thou_o think_v good_a for_o thy_o own_o behoof_n thou_o be_v deceive_v sure_o thou_o be_v much_o deceive_v if_o thou_o think_v so_o god_n of_o his_o mercy_n which_o desire_v the_o conversion_n rather_o than_o the_o death_n of_o a_o sinner_n when_o he_o think_v good_a call_v thou_o unto_o repentance_n and_o as_o he_o in_o the_o revelation_n say_v stand_v at_o the_o door_n and_o repent_v have_v not_o promise_v another_o day_n of_o life_n to_o he_o that_o dissemble_v his_o sin_n take_v heed_n therefore_o that_o by_o procrastinate_v repentance_n and_o that_o through_o hope_n of_o long_a life_n thou_o witting_o and_o of_o purpose_n do_v not_o tempt_v the_o lord_n who_o goodness_n invit_v thou_o unto_o repentance_n the_o which_o we_o be_v forbid_v by_o a_o express_a commandment_n of_o god_n in_o deuteronomie_n 16._o it_o fall_v out_o many_o time_n that_o man_n be_v kill_v sudden_o even_o in_o brawl_a play_v and_o quaff_v together_o so_o that_o he_o can_v have_v no_o time_n to_o ask_v mercy_n at_o god_n hand_n for_o his_o wickedness_n when_o as_o we_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n through_o the_o singular_a goodness_n of_o god_n have_v time_n and_o space_n to_o return_v unto_o godliness_n wherefore_o let_v we_o not_o abuse_v this_o so_o great_a mercy_n of_o our_o most_o gracious_a god_n who_o look_v and_o long_v too_o as_o it_o be_v for_o occasion_n to_o as_o also_o other_o immoderate_a venery_n with_o the_o palsy_n with_o the_o blearedness_n of_o the_o eye_n with_o the_o quiver_a of_o the_o sinew_n as_o for_o luxuriousness_n do_v it_o not_o bring_v many_o a_o man_n unto_o need_n and_o beggary_n adultery_n be_v it_o not_o sometime_o punish_v and_o they_o which_o commit_v the_o same_o always_o after_o infamous_a beside_o the_o angry_a man_n do_v he_o not_o oftentimes_o get_v hurt_v and_o the_o proud_a man_n hatred_n what_o shall_v i_o say_v of_o envy_n be_v it_o not_o a_o punishment_n to_o he_o which_o be_v give_v there-unto_a do_v it_o not_o eat_v up_o and_o consume_v the_o envious_a as_o right_o do_v one_o say_v the_o sicilian_a tyrant_n do_v never_o find_v a_o great_a plague_n than_o envy_n to_o the_o mind_n so_o do_v another_o envious_a man_n do_v pine_v away_o in_o pain_n to_o see_v another_o flourish_n well_o and_o gain_v now_o to_o speak_v of_o covetousness_n be_v it_o not_o evermore_o torment_v as_o with_o desire_n of_o everlasting_a torment_n of_o hell_n threaten_v to_o the_o wicked_a in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n stir_v up_o every_o man_n with_o all_o earnestness_n of_o mind_n to_o amend_v his_o naughty_a life_n without_o delay_n if_o we_o believe_v those_o thing_n to_o be_v true_a and_o not_o a_o fable_n which_o the_o holy_a scripture_n teach_v both_o of_o the_o eternal_a life_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o of_o the_o punishment_n of_o the_o wicked_a cap._n 18._o ¶_o what_o mean_v a_o godly_a man_n may_v use_v by_o the_o example_n of_o the_o author_n to_o stir_v up_o himself_o unto_o a_o godly_a life_n here_o i_o will_v brief_o declare_v if_o happy_o it_o may_v give_v occasion_n to_o other_o in_o like_a sort_n to_o amend_v their_o life_n what_o it_o be_v where_o by_o i_o be_o great_o incense_v and_o set_v so_o heinous_a as_o thou_o and_o yet_o be_v damn_v to_o everlasting_a torment_n o_o horrible_a judgement_n of_o god_n yet_o a_o righteous_a judgement_n how_o many_o jew_n be_v in_o hell_n how_o many_o idolater_n be_v punish_v with_o perpetual_a pain_n the_o which_o have_v escape_v those_o pain_n have_v they_o be_v convert_v unto_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n as_o we_o be_v through_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n see_v they_o live_v far_o more_o uprightlie_o in_o the_o world_n than_o we_o have_v do_v o_o curse_a ingratitude_n of_o we_o o_o the_o hardness_n of_o our_o heart_n i_o say_v diligent_a in_o thy_o live_n and_o apparel_n temperate_a be_v thou_o towards_o thy_o neighbour_n righteous_a towards_o the_o poor_a liberal_a in_o thy_o deal_n with_o other_o mild_a and_o courteous_a put_v up_o injury_n pursue_v peace_n love_v chastity_n shamefastness_n sobriety_n and_o in_o all_o thing_n show_v thyself_o upright_a and_o uncorrupt_a and_o forasmuch_o as_o these_o thing_n can_v be_v attain_v by_o the_o only_o power_n of_o nature_n fly_v thou_o unto_o the_o lord_n for_o help_v and_o assistance_n acknowledge_v thy_o weakness_n &_o the_o infirmity_n of_o man_n pray_v god_n
