not faithless but believing And Thomas answered and said unto him My Lord and my God Jesus saith unto him Thomas because thou hast seen me thou hast believed blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples which are not written in this book But these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God and that believing ye might have life through his Name The Conversion of Saint Paul The collect O God who through the preaching of the blessed Apostle Saint Paul hast caused the light of the Gospel to shine throughout the world Grant we beseech thee that we having his wonderful Conversion in remembrance may shew forth our thankfulness unto thee for the same by following the holy doctrine which he taught through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen For the Epistle Acts 9.1 ANd Saul yet breathing out threatnings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord went unto the high priest and desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues that if he found any of this way whether they were men or women he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem And as he journeyed he came near Damascus and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven And he fell to the earth and heard a voice saying unto him Saul Saul why persecutest thou me And he said who art thou Lord And the Lord said I am Jesus whom thou persecutest it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks And he trembling and astonished said Lord what wilt thou have me to do And the Lord said unto him Arise and go into the city and it shall be told thee what thou must do And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless hearing a voice but seeing no man And Saul arose from the earth and when his eyes were opened he saw no man but they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus And he was three days without sight and neither did eat nor drink And there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias and to him said the Lord in a vision Ananias And he said Behold I am hear Lord. And the Lord said unto him Arise and go into the street which is called Straight and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus for behold he prayeth and hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him that he might receive his sight Then Ananias answered Lord I have heard by many of this man how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem and here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy Name But the Lord said unto him Go thy way for he is a chosen vessel unto me to bear my Name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my Names sake And Ananias went his way and entred into the house and putting his hands on him said Brother Saul the Lord even Jesus that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest hath sent me that thou mightest receive thy sight and be filled with the Holy Ghost And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales and he received sight forthwith and arose and was baptized And when he had received meat he was strengthened Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues that he is the Son of God But all that heard him were amazed and said Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this Name in Jerusalem and came hither for that intent that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests But Saul increased the more in strength and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus proving that this is very Christ The Gospel S. Luke 2.22 ANd when the days of her purification according to the law Moses were accomplished they brought him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord as it is written in the law of the Lord Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord a pair of turtle-doves or two young pigeons And behold there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon and the same man was just and devout waiting for the consolation of Israel and the Holy Ghost was upon him And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost that he should not see death before he had seen the Lords Christ And he came by the Spirit into the temple and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him after the custom of the law

Bartholomew in the year of our Lord One thousand six hundred sixty and two upon pain of forfeiture of Three pounds by the month for so long time as they shall then after be unprovided thereof by every Parish or Chappelry Cathedral Church Colledge and Hall making default therein Provided always and be it Enacted by the Authority aforesaid That the Bishops of Hereford S. Davids Asaph Bangor and Landaff and their Successors shall take such order among themselves for the souls health of the Flocks committed to their charge within Wales that the Book hereunto annexed be truly and exactly Translated into the British or Welsh Tongue and that the same so Translated and being by them or any three of them at the least viewed perused and allowed be Imprinted to such number at least so that one of the said Books so Translated and Imprinted may be had for every Cathedral Collegiate and Parish Church and Chappel of Ease in the said respective Diocesses and places in Wales where the Welsh is commonly spoken or used before the First day of May One thousand six hundred sixty five and That from and after the Imprinting and Publishing of the said Book so Translated the whole Divine Service shall be used and said by the Ministers and Curates throughout all Wales within the said Diocesses where the Welsh Tongue is commonly used in the British or Welsh Tongue in such manner and form as is prescribed according to the Book hereunto annexed to be used in the English Tongue differing nothing in any Order or Form from the said English Book for which Book so Translated and Imprinted the Church-wardens of every the said Parishes shall pay out of the Parish-money in their hands for the use of the respective Churches and be allowed the same on their Account and That the said Bishops and their Successors or any three of them at the least shall set and appoint the Price for which the said Book shall be sold And one other Book of Common Prayer in the English Tongue shall be bought and had in every Church throughout Wales in which the Book of Common Prayer in Welch is to be had by force of this Act before the first day of May One thousand six hundred sixty and four and the same Book to remain in such convenient places within the said Churches that such as understand them may resort at all convenient times to read and peruse the same and also such as do not understand the said Language may by conferring both Tongues together the sooner attain to the knowledge of the English Tongue Any thing in this Act to the contrary notwithstanding And until printed Copies of the said Book so to be Translated may be had and provided the Form of Common Prayer established by Parliament before the making of this Act shall be used as formerly in such parts of Wales where the English Tongue is not commonly understood And to the end that the true and perfect Copies of this Act and the said Book hereunto annexed may be safely kept and perpetually preserved and for the avoiding of all disputes for the time to come Be it therefore Enacted by the Authority aforesaid That the respective Deans and Chapters of every Cathedral or Collegiate Church within England and Wales shall at their proper coâ—s and charges before the twenty fifth day of December One thousand six hundred sixty and two obtain under the Great Seal of England a true and perfect Copy of this Act and of the said Book annexed hereunto to be by the said Deans and Chapters and their Successors kept and preserved in safety for ever and to be also produced and shewed forth in any Court of Record as often as they shall be thereunto lawfully required and also there shall be delivered true and perfect Copies of this Act and of the same Book into the respective Courts at Westminster and into the Tower of London to be kept and preserved for ever among the Records of the said Courts and the Records of the Tower to be also produced and shewed forth in any Court as need shall require which said Books so to be exemplified under the Great Seal of England shall be examined by such persons as the Kings Majesty shall appoint under the Great Seal of England for that purpose and shall be compared with the Original Book hereunto annexed and shall have power to correct and amend in writing any Error committed by the Printer in the Printing of the same book or of any thing therein contained and shall certifie in writing under their Hands and Seals or the Hands and Seals of any three of them at the end of the same Book that they have examined and compared the same Book and find it to be a true and perfect Copy which said Books and every one of them so exemplified under the Great Seal of England as aforesaid shall be deemed taken adjudged and expounded to be good and available in the Law to all intents and purposes whatsoever and shall be accounted as good Records as this Book it self hereunto annexed any Law or Custom to the contrary in any wise notwithstanding Provided also that this Act or any thing therein contained shall not be prejudicial or hurtful unto the Kings Professour of the Law within the University of Oxford for or concerning the Prebend of Shipton within the Cathedral Church of Sarum united and annexed unto the place of the same Kings Professour for the time being by the late King James of blessed memory Provided always That whereas the Six and thirtieth Article of the Nine and thirty Article agreed upon by the Archbishops and Bishops of both Provinces and the whole Clergy in the Convocation holden at London in the year of our Lord One thousand five hundred sixty two for the avoiding of diversities of opinions and for establishing of consent touching true Religion is in these words following viz. That the Book of Consecration of Archbishops and Bishops and Ordaining of Priests and Deacons lately set forth in the time of King Edward the Sixth and confirmed at the same time by Authority of Parliament doth contain all things necessary to such Consecration and Ordaining neither hath it any thing that of it self is superstitious and ungodly And therefore whosoever are Consecrated or Ordered according to the Rites of that Book since the second year of the aforenamed King Edward unto this time or hereafter shall be Consecrated or Ordered according to the same Rites We decree all such to be rightly orderly and lawfully Consecrated and Ordered It be Enacted and be it therefore Enacted by the Authority aforesaid That all Subscriptions hereafter to be had or made unto the said Articles by any Deacon Priest or Ecclesiastical person or other person whatsoever who by this Act or any other Law now in force is required to subscribe unto the said Articles shall be construed and taken to extend and shall be applied for and touching the said Six and thirtieth
we beseech thee to cast thy bright beam of light upon thy Church that it being enlightned by the doctrine of thy blessed Apostle and Evangelist Saint John may so walk in the light of thy truth that it may at length attain to the light of everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen The Epistle 1 S. John 1.1 THat which was from the beginning which we have heard which we have seen with our eyes which we have looked upon and our hands have handled of the word of life for the life was manifested and we have seen it and bear witness and shew unto you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested unto us That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you that ye also may have fellowship with us and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ And these things write we unto you that your joy may be full This then is the message which we have heard of him and declare unto you That God is light and in him is no darkness at all If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness we lie and do not the truth But if we walk in the light as he is in the light we have fellowship one with another and the bloud of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin If we say that we have no sin we deceive our selves and the truth is not in us If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness If we say that we have not sinned we make him a liar and his Word is not in us The Gospel S. John 21.19 JEsus said unto Peter Follow me Then Peter turning about seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following which also leaned on his breast at supper and said Lord which is he that betrayeth thee Peter seeing him saith to Jesus Lord and what shall this man do Jesus saith unto him If I will that he tarry till I come what is that to thee Follow thou me Then went this saying abroad among the brethren that that disciple should not die yet Jesus said not unto him He shall not die but if I will that he tarry till I come whâ—… is that to thee This is the disciple which testifieth of these things and wrote these things and we know thâ—… his testimony is true And there are also many other things which Jesus did the which if they should be written every one I suppose that even the world it self could not contain the books that should be written The Innocents day The collect O Almighty God who out of the mouths of babes and sucklings hast ordained strength and madest infants to glorifie thee by their deaths Mortifie and kill all vices in us and so strengthen us by thy grace that by the innocency of our lives and constancy of our faith even unto death we may glorifie thy holy Name through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen For the Epistle Rev. 14.1 I Looked and lo a Lamb stood on the mount Sion and with him an hundred fourty and four thousand having his Fathers name written in their foreheads And I heard a voice from heaven as the voice of many waters and as the voice of a great thunder and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps and they sung as it were a new song before the throne and before the four beasts and the elders and no man could learn that song but the hundred and fourty and four thousand which were redeemed from the earth These are they which were not defiled with women for they are virgins these are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth these were redeemed from among men being the first-fruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile for they are without fault before the throne of God The Gospel S. Matth. 2.13 THe angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream saying Arise and take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt and be thou there until I bring thee word for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him When he arose he took the young child and his mother by night and departed into Egypt and was there until the death of Herod that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet saying Out of Egypt have I called my Son Then Herod when he saw that he was mocked of the wise-men was exceeding wroth and sent forth and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem and in all the coasts thereof from two years old and under according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise-men Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet saying In Rama was there a voice heard lamentation and weeping and great mourning Rachel weeping for her children and would not be comforted because they are not The Sunday after Christmas-day The collect ALmighty God who hast given us thy only begotten Son to take our nature upon him and as at this time to be born of a pure Virgin Grant that we being regenerate and made thy children by adoption and grace may daily be renewed by thy holy Sprit through the same our Lord Jesus Christ who liveth and reigneth with thee and the same Spirit ever one God world without end Amen The Epistle Gal. 4.1 NOw I say that the heir as long as he is a child differeth nothing from a servant though he be lord of all but is under tutours and governours until the time appointed of the father Even so we when we were children were in bondage under the elements of the world but when the fulness of the time was come God sent forth his Son made of a woman made under the law to redeem them that were under the law that we might receive the adoption of sons And because ye are sons God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts crying Abba Father Wherefore thou art no more a servant but a son and if a son then an heir of God through Christ The Gospel S. Matth. 1.18 THe birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Ghost Then Joseph her husband being a just man and not willing to make her a publick example was minded to put her away privily But while he thought on these things behold the angel of the Lord appered unto him in a dream saying Joseph thou son of David fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost And she shall bring forth a Son and thou shalt call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet
be saved among the remnant of the true Israelites and be made one fold under one Shepherd Jesus Christ our Lord who liveth and reigneth with thee and the holy Spirit one God world without end Amen The Epistle Heb. 10.1 THe law having a shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the things can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect for then would they not have ceased to be offered because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year For it is not possible that the bloud of bulls and of goats should take away sins Wherefore when he cometh into the world he saith Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not but a body hast thou prepared me In burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure Then said I Lo I come in the Volume of the book it is written of me to do thy will O God Above when he said Sacrifice and offering and burnt-offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not neither hadst pleasure therein which are offered by the law Then said he Lo I come to do thy will O God He taketh away the first that he may establish the second By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all And every priest standeth daily ministring and offering often times the same sacrifices which can never take away sins But this man after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever sat down on the right hand of God from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his foot-stool For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us For after that he had said before This is the covenant that I will make with them that after those days saith the Lord I will put my laws into their hearts and in their minds will I write them and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more Now where remission of these is there is no more offering for sin Having therefore brethren boldness to enter into the holiest by the bloud of Jesus by a new and living way which he hath consecrated for us through the vail that is to say his flesh And having an high Priest over the house of God let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering for he is faithful that promised And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works not forsaking the assembling of our selves together as the manner of some is but exhorting one another and so much the more as ye see the day approching The Gospel S. John 19.1 PIlate therefore took Jesus and scourged him And the souldiers platted a crown of thorns and put it on his head and they put on him a purple robe and said Hail king of the Jews And they smote him with their hands Pilate therefore went forth again and saith unto them Behold I bring him forth to you that ye may know that I find no fault in him Then came Jesus forth wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe And Pilate saith unto them Behold the man When the chief Priests therefore and officers saw him they cried out saying Crucifie him crucifie him Pilate saith unto them Take ye him and crucifie him for I find no fault in him The Jews answered him We have a law and by our law he ought to die because he made himself the Son of God When Pilate therefore heard that saying he was the more afraid and went again into the judgment-hall and saith unto Jesus Whence art thou But Jesus gave him no answer Then saith Pilate unto him Speakest thou not unto me knowest thou not that I have power to crucifie thee and have power to release thee Jesus answered Thou couldest have no power at all against me except it were given thee from above therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him but the Jews cried out saying If thou let this man go thou art not Cesars friend Whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Cesar When Pilate therefore heard that saying he brought Jesus forth and sat down in the judgment-seat in a place that is called the Pavement but in the Hebrew Gabbatha And it was the preparation of the passover and about the sixth hour and he saith unto the Jews Behold your king But they cried out Away with him away with him crucifie him Pilate saith unto them Shall I crucifie your king The chief Priests answered We have no king but Cesar Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified and they took Jesus and led him away And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a scull which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha Where they crucified him and two other with him on either side one and Jesus in the midst And Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS This title then read many of the Jews for the place where Jesus wa crucified was nigh to the city and it was written in Hebrew and Greek and Latin Then said the chief Priest of the Jews to Pilate Write not The king of the Jews but that he said I am the king of the Jews Pilate answered What I have written I have written Then the souldiers when they had crucified Jesus took his garments and made four parts to every souldier a part and also his coat now the coat was without seam woven from the top throughout They said therefore among themselves Let us not rend it but cast lots for it whose it shall be that the Scripture might be fulfilled which saith They parted my raiment among them and for my vesture they did cast lots These things therefore the souldiers did Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother and his mothers sister Mary the wife of Cleophas and Mary Magdalen When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciple standing by whom he loved he saith unto his mother Woman behold thy son Then saith he to the disciple Behold thy mother And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home After this Jesus knowing that all things were accomplished that the Scripture might be fulfilled saith I thirst Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar and they filled a spunge with vinegar and put it upon hyssop and put it to his mouth When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar he said It is finished and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost The Jews therefore because
heavy displeasure 2 For thine arrows stick fast in me and thy hand presseth me sore 3 There is no health in my flesh because of thy displeasure neither is there any rest in my bones by reason of my sin 4 For my wickednesses are gone over my head and are like a sore burden too heavy for me to bear 5 My wounds stink and are corrupt through my foolishness 6 I am brought into so great trouble and misery that I go mourning all the day long 7 For my loyns are filled with a sore disease and there is no whole part in my body 8 I am feeble and sore smitten I have rored for the very disquietness of my heart 9 Lord thou knowest all my desire and my groning is not hid from thee 10 My heart panteth my strength hath failed me and the sight of mine eyes is gone from me 11 My lovers and my neighbours did stand looking upon my trouble and my kinsmen stood afar off 12 They also that sought after my life laid snares for me and they that went about to do me evil talked of wickedness and imagined deceit all the day long 13 As for me I was like a deaf man and heard not and as one that is dumb who doth not open his mouth 14 I became even as a man that heareth not and in whose mouth are no reproofs 15 For in thee O Lord have I put my trust thou shalt answer for me O Lord my God 16 I have required that they even mine enemies should not triumph over me for when my foot slipt they rejoyced greatly against me 17 And I truly am set in the plague and my heaviness is ever in my sight 18 For I will confess my wickedness and be sorry for my sin 19 But mine enemies live and are mighty and they that hate me wrongfully are many in number 20 They also that reward evil for good are against me because I follow the thing that good is 21 Forsake me not O Lord my God be not thou far from me 22 Haste thee to help me O Lord God of my salvation Dixi Custodiam Psal 39. I Said I will take heed to my ways that I offend not in my tongue 2 I will keep my mouth as it were with a bridle while the ungodly is in my sight 3 I held my tongue and spake nothing I kept silence yea even from good words but it was paid and grief to me 4 My heart was hot within me and while I was thus musing the fire kindled and at the last I spake with my tongue 5 Lord let me know my end and the number of my days that I may be certified how long I have to live 6 Behold thou hast made my days as it were a span long and mine age is even as nothing in respect of thee and verily every man living is altogether vanity 7 For man walketh in a vain shadow and disquieteth himself in vain he heapeth up riches and cannot tell who shall gather them 8 And now Lord what is my hope truly my hope is even in thee 9 Deliver me from all mine offences and make me not a rebuke unto the foolish 10 I became dumb and opened not my mouth for is was thy doing 11 Take thy plague away from me I am even consumed by the means of thy heavy hand 12 When thou with rebukes dost chasten man for sin thou makest his beauty to consume away like as it were a moth fretting a garment every man therefore is but vanity 13 Hear my prayer O Lord and with thine ears consider my calling hold not thy peace at my tears 14 For I am a stranger with thee and a sojourner as all my fathers were 15 O spare me a little that I may recover my strength before I go hence and be no more seen Expectans expectavi Psal 40. I Waited patiently for the Lord and he inclined unto me and heard my calling 2 He brought me also out of the horrible pit out of the mire and clay and set my feet upon the rock and ordered my goings 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth even a thanksgiving unto our God 4 Many shall see it and fear and shall put their trust in the Lord. 5 Blessed is the man that set his hope in the Lord and turned not unto the proud and to such as go about with lies 6 O Lord my God great are the wondrous works which thou hast done like as be also thy thoughts which are to us-ward and yet there is no man that ordereth them unto thee 7 If I should declare them and speak of them they should be mo then I am able to express 8 Sacrifice and meat-offering thou wouldest not but mine ears hast thou opened 9 Burnt-offerings and sacrifice for sin hast thou not required then said I Lo I come 10 In the volume of the book it is written of me that I should fulfil thy will O my God I am content to do it yea thy law is within my heart 11 I have declared thy righteousness in the great congregation lo I will not refrain my lips O Lord and that thou knowest 12 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart my talk hath been of thy truth and of thy salvation 13 I have not kept back thy loving mercy and truth from the great congregation 14 Withdraw not thou thy mercy from me O Lord let thy loving kindness and thy truth alway preserve me 15 For innumerable troubles are come about me my sins have taken such hold upon me that I am not able to look up yea they are mo in number then the hairs of my head and my heart hath failed me 16 O Lord let it be thy pleasure to deliver me make haste O Lord to help me 17 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it let them be driven backward and put to rebuke that wish me evil 18 Let them be desolate and rewarded with shame that say unto me Fie upon thee fie upon thee 19 Let all those that seek thee be joyful and glad in thee and let such as love thy salvation say alway The Lord be praised 20 As for me I am poor and needy but the Lord careth for me 21 Thou art my helper and redeemer make no long tarrying O my God Evening Prayer Beatus qui intelligit Psal 41. BLessed is he that considereth the poor and needy the Lord shall deliver him in the time of trouble 2 The Lord preserve him and keep him alive that he may be blessed upon earth and deliver not thou him into the will of his enemies 3 The Lord comfort him when he lieth sick upon his bed make thou all his bed in his sickness 4 I said Lord be merciful unto me heal my soul for I have sinned against thee 5 Mine enemies speak evil of me When shall he die and his name perish 6 And if he come to see me he speaketh vanity and

O Lord thou hast searched me out and known me thou knowest my down-sitting and mine up-rising thou understandest my thoughts long before 2 Thou art about my path and about my bed and spiest out all my ways 3 For lo there is not a word in my tongue but thou O Lord knowest it altogether 4 Thou hast fashioned me behind and before and laid thine hand upon me 5 Such knowledge is too wonderful and excellent for me I cannot attain unto it 6 Whither shall I go then from thy Spirit or whither shall I go then from thy presence 7 If I climb up into heaven thou art there if I go down to hell thou art there also 8 If I take the wings of the morning and remain in the uttermost parts of the sea 9 Even there also shall thy hand lead me and thy right hand shall hold me 10 If I say Peradventure the darkness shall cover me then shall my night be turned today 11 Yea the darkness is no darkness with thee but the night is as clear as the day the darkness and light to thee are both alike 12 For my reins are thine thou hast covered me in my mothers womb 13 I will give thanks unto thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made marvellous are thy works and that my soul knoweth right well 14 My bones are not hid from thee though I be made secretly and fashioned beneath in the earth 15 Thine eyes did see my substance yet being unperfect and in thy book were all my members written 16 Which day by day were fashioned when as yet there was none of them 17 How dear are thy counsels unto me O God O how great is the sum of them 18 If I tell them they are mo in number then the sand when I wake up I am present with thee 19 Wilt thou not slay the wicked O God depart from me ye bloud-thirsty men 20 For they speak unrighteously against thee and thine enemies take thy Name in vain 21 Do not I hate them O Lord that hate thee and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee 22 Yea I hate them right sore even as though they were mine enemies 23 Try me O God and seek the ground of my heart prove me and examine my thoughts 24 Look well if there be any way of wickedness in me and lead me in the way everlasting Eripe me Domine Psal 140. DEliver me O Lord from the evil man and preserve me from the wicked man 2 Who imagine mischief in their hearts and stir up strife all the day long 3 They have sharpned their tongues like a serpent adders poison is under their lips 4 Keep me O Lord from the hands of the ungodly preserve me from the wicked men who are purposed to overthrow my goings 5 The proud have laid a snare for me and spread a net abroad with cords yea and set traps in my way 6 I said unto the Lord Thou art my God hear the voice of my prayers O Lord. 7 O Lord God thou strength of my health thou hast covered my head in the day of battel 8 Let not the ungodly have his desire O Lord let not his mischievous imagination prosper left they be too proud 9 Let the mischief of their own lips fall upon the head of them that compass me about 10 Let hot burning coals fall upon them let them be cast into the fire and into the pit that they never rise up again 11 A man full of words shall not prosper upon the earth evil shall hunt the wicked person to overthrow him 12 Sure I am that the Lord will avenge the poor and maintain the cause of the helpless 13 The righteous also shall give thanks unto thy Name and the just shall continue in thy sight Domine clamavi Psal 141. LOrd I call upon thee haste thee unto me and consider my voice when I cry unto thee 2 Let my prayer be set forth in thy sight as the incense and let the lifting up of my hands be an evening-sacrifice 3 Set a watch O Lord before my mouth and keep the door of my lips 4 O let not mine heart be inclined to any evil thing let me not be occupied in ungodly works with the men that work wickedness lest I eat of such things as please them 5 Let the righteous rather smite me friendly and reprove me 6 But let not their precious balms break my head yea I will pray yet against their wickedness 7 Let their judges be overthrown in stony places that they may hear my words for they are sweet 8 Our bones lie scattered before the pit like as when one breaketh and heweth wood upon the earth 9 But mine eyes look unto thee O Lord God in thee is my trust O cast not out my soul 10 Keep me from the snare that they have laid for me and from the traps of the wicked doers 11 Let the ungodly fall into their own nets together and let me ever escape them Evening Prayer Voce mea ad Dominum Psal 142.
