especial_o if_o upon_o hear_v what_o your_o petitioner_n can_v say_v your_o lordship_n shall_v be_v satisfy_v that_o your_o petitioner_n happen_v to_o be_v convict_v through_o any_o error_n or_o mistake_v as_o no_o man_n be_v ever_o exempt_a from_o error_n and_o the_o best_a of_o man_n be_v always_o ready_a to_o confess_v it_o your_o petitioner_n therefore_o humble_o beseech_v your_o of_o print_v be_v against_o your_o petitioner_n there_o be_v no_o positive_a proof_n at_o all_o not_o so_o much_o as_o by_o one_o witness_n give_v of_o his_o print_n either_o of_o the_o book_n lay_v in_o the_o indictment_n and_o then_o that_o of_o fact_n be_v thus_o prove_v must_v by_o necessity_n of_o inference_n as_o evident_o and_o certain_o prove_v that_o the_o party_n in_o do_v such_o overt-act_n can_v intend_v or_o imagine_v thereby_o nothing_o less_o than_o the_o king_n death_n and_o if_o either_o of_o these_o proof_n fall_v short_a of_o such_o necessary_a certainty_n such_o indictment_n must_v fail_v the_o law_n for_o great_a reason_n regard_v only_o such_o plain_a and_o direct_a proof_n in_o these_o great_a charge_n now_o can_v a_o printer_n quatenus_fw-la only_a the_o according_a to_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o write_n or_o speak_v may_v evident_o appear_v to_o come_v from_o his_o own_o heart_n and_o your_o petitioner_n do_v not_o doubt_v but_o that_o the_o write_v a_o book_n as_o in_o cardinal_n pool_n case_n and_o the_o sign_v the_o warrant_n for_o the_o execution_n of_o king_n charles_n the_o first_o as_o in_o the_o case_n of_o the_o regicide_n which_o case_n be_v any_o thing_n to_o the_o case_n of_o a_o printer_n who_o business_n it_o be_v as_o a_o printer_n only_o to_o print_v the_o thought_n of_o other_o be_v account_v in_o law_n only_o as_o a_o mere_a mechanic_n and_o who_o end_n thereby_o be_v to_o get_v money_n for_o his_o work_n and_o for_o further_a reason_n in_o this_o matter_n they_o observe_v that_o as_o it_o do_v not_o appear_v that_o bare_a print_n be_v ever_o pretend_v to_o be_v a_o overt-act_n within_o stat._n 25_o edw._n 3._o so_o when_o the_o parliament_n of_o 13_o car._n 2._o carry_v up_o treason_n to_o the_o high_a for_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o king_n person_n during_o his_o life_n and_o among_o other_o thing_n particular_o therein_o take_v notice_n of_o print_v yet_o will_v they_o not_o thereby_o lay_v so_o great_a a_o penalty_n upon_o the_o printer_n as_o no_o doubt_n consider_v the_o unreasonableness_n of_o comprise_v such_o tool_n and_o mechanic_n within_o a_o act_n intend_v for_o person_n of_o high_a design_n but_o this_o parliament_n keep_v the_o printer_n in_o their_o remembrance_n as_o intend_v to_o consider_v they_o by_o themselves_o in_o another_o act_n as_o they_o very_o soon_o after_o do_v for_o the_o very_a same_o parliament_n in_o 13_o and_o 14_o car._n 2._o make_v a_o act_n which_o they_o style_v a_o act_n for_o prevent_a abuse_n in_o print_v seditious_a treasonable_a and_o unlicensed_a book_n and_o pamphlet_n and_o for_o regulate_v print_v and_o press_n and_o therein_o as_o they_o fix_v they_o their_o rule_n and_o bound_n so_o they_o allot_v they_o their_o punishment_n which_o for_o the_o first_o offence_n be_v disability_n for_o three_o year_n and_o for_o the_o second_o perpetual_a disability_n fine_a imprisonment_n or_o other_o corporal_a punishment_n at_o discretion_n wherefore_o the_o premise_n thorough_o weigh_v and_o consider_v your_o petitioner_n humble_o implore_v your_o lordship_n that_o in_o favour_n of_o life_n in_o a_o new_a and_o extraordinary_a case_n and_o that_o too_o of_o treason_n your_o lordship_n will_v be_v please_v to_o extend_v so_o much_o mercy_n to_o your_o petitioner_n as_o to_o suspend_v your_o judgement_n and_o or_o other_o be_v think_v considerable_a and_o the_o rather_o for_o that_o the_o prisoner_n do_v make_v it_o his_o humble_a and_o last_o request_n that_o these_o thing_n be_v matter_n of_o law_n he_o may_v be_v allow_v counsel_n to_o plead_v they_o or_o any_o other_o matter_n of_o law_n in_o his_o case_n and_o he_o back_v his_o request_n with_o this_o modest_a reason_n that_o be_v matter_n of_o
shall_v have_v make_v it_o apparent_a that_o their_o grand_a evidence_n be_v a_o perjure_a rogue_n this_o be_v the_o only_a piece_n of_o evidence_n that_o do_v in_o the_o least_o seem_v to_o affect_v the_o prisoner_n and_o therefore_o aught_o to_o have_v be_v fair_o and_o full_o canvas_v and_o not_o so_o light_o huddle_v and_o shame_v over_o all_o the_o other_o evidence_n be_v nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n and_o if_o even_o this_o have_v be_v true_a it_o can_v not_o have_v cast_v he_o for_o the_o have_v book_n in_o a_o desk_n be_v neither_o composs_v printing_n nor_o publish_v which_o be_v the_o crime_n charge_v in_o the_o indictment_n the_o substance_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a testimony_n concern_v the_o book_n be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o desk_n be_v second_v by_o the_o evidence_n of_o hooper_n beadle_n of_o the_o hall_n and_o the_o constable_n and_o his_o beadle_n now_o though_o the_o falsehood_n of_o the_o thing_n be_v already_o make_v manifest_a yet_o i_o shall_v retain_v some_o charity_n for_o these_o person_n till_o i_o find_v cause_n to_o the_o contrary_a because_o it_o be_v very_o probable_a that_o they_o may_v be_v deceive_v for_o if_o stephens_n or_o any_o agent_n of_o he_o in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o huddle_n and_o removal_n of_o thing_n do_v put_v such_o book_n into_o the_o desk_n and_o afterward_o examine_v it_o before_o the_o say_a constable_n and_o beadle_n they_o may_v ignorant_o swear_v to_o his_o contrivance_n and_o they_o may_v true_o say_v such_o book_n be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o desk_n and_o not_o know_v that_o stephens_n and_o not_o mr._n anderton_n put_v they_o in_o but_o there_o be_v one_o thing_n which_o show_v they_o to_o be_v too_o loose_a and_o heedless_a in_o the_o matter_n of_o a_o oath_n in_o that_o they_o allege_v so_o many_o of_o the_o french_a conquest_n to_o be_v there_o when_o it_o be_v certain_a there_o be_v not_o the_o four_o part_n of_o so_o many_o in_o the_o house_n which_o as_o i_o have_v already_o tell_v you_o be_v send_v he_o the_o day_n before_o and_o which_o the_o government_n itself_o now_o if_o it_o do_v not_o then_o well_o know_v be_v not_o print_v by_o he_o and_o yet_o after_o all_o this_o multitude_n they_o be_v content_a to_o fall_v to_o one_o of_o each_o that_o they_o may_v be_v particular_o swear_v to_o and_o when_o mr._n constable_n be_v ask_v how_o he_o know_v those_o to_o be_v
