messenger_n and_o they_o all_o make_v application_n to_o muhamed_a that_o he_o will_v remember_v they_o when_o he_o shall_v speak_v with_o god_n and_o so_o they_o all_o depart_v and_o muhamed_a and_o the_o angel_n gabriel_n be_v leave_v there_o alone_o then_o they_o two_o go_v out_o of_o the_o gate_n of_o the_o temple_n &_o there_o find_v a_o ladder_n which_o reach_v from_o earth_n to_o heaven_n all_o make_v of_o the_o light_n of_o god_n and_o so_o they_o begin_v to_o ascend_v the_o say_a ladder_n the_o angel_n first_o and_o muhamed_a after_o he_o hold_v by_o the_o angell_n hand_n till_o they_o arrive_v at_o the_o first_o heaven_n which_o heaven_n muhamed_a say_v be_v make_v of_o pure_a silver_n and_o there_o they_o see_v the_o star_n hang_v on_o this_o first_o heaven_n with_o chain_n of_o gold_n and_o the_o big_a of_o they_o be_v as_o big_a as_o the_o mountain_n noho_n which_o be_v a_o mountain_n near_o to_o almedina_n and_o the_o angel_n gabriel_n knock_v at_o heaven_n gate_n that_o they_o shall_v say_v nothing_o be_v prohibit_v and_o forbid_v to_o be_v eat_v or_o drink_v but_o murrain_n blood_n swine_n flesh_n and_o that_o which_o be_v offer_v to_o idol_n the_o say_v themselves_o they_o forbid_v but_o four_o and_o if_o thou_o will_v say_v o_o moor_n that_o the_o verse_n of_o the_o last_o chapter_n be_v revoke_v by_o the_o first_o i_o prove_v that_o the_o first_o much_o less_o the_o last_o be_v not_o revoke_v but_o be_v verse_n which_o remain_v in_o force_n and_o virtue_n and_o which_o be_v call_v in_o arabic_a ayetum_n mohquemetum_n i_o e._n decisory_n and_o be_v the_o reason_n o_o honest_a moor_n be_v because_o the_o scripture_n be_v give_v by_o god_n and_o that_o scripture_n which_o be_v give_v by_o god_n will_v never_o be_v lose_v as_o be_v the_o book_n of_o muhamed_n suné_n as_o we_o have_v say_v above_o in_o the_o three_o chapter_n the_o second_o reason_n be_v because_o that_o when_o muhamed_a publish_v his_o reliligion_n it_o be_v already_o 600._o year_n since_o the_o christian_a law_n or_o religion_n have_v be_v preach_v to_o all_o the_o world_n and_o so_o long_o also_o have_v the_o old_a testament_n and_o the_o new_a be_v unite_v to_o wit_n the_o figure_n and_o the_o thing_n figure_v so_o concordant_a and_o harmonious_a as_o if_o they_o have_v be_v both_o one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n and_o see_v god_n command_v muhamed_a to_o inquire_v of_o the_o reader_n of_o this_o scripture_n for_o his_o information_n the_o scripture_n doubtless_o be_v then_o good_a and_o true_a and_o be_v likewise_o at_o present_a good_a and_o true_a for_o the_o same_o as_o it_o then_o be_v it_o still_o be_v and_o if_o it_o have_v be_v alter_v at_o the_o time_n of_o muhamed_a god_n shall_v have_v give_v muhamed_a notice_n of_o it_o and_o have_v give_v he_o to_o know_v that_o at_o first_o it_o be_v good_a but_o then_o bad_a so_o that_o o_o moor_n thou_o have_v no_o right_n on_o thy_o side_n notwithstanding_o whatsoever_o the_o moor_n and_o musselman_n say_v for_o he_o that_o bring_v the_o testimony_n of_o two_o for_o proof_n of_o his_o own_o cause_n do_v yield_v that_o those_o witness_n be_v good_a and_o true_a not_o bad_a and_o reprochable_a because_o if_o they_o be_v reprochable_a and_o of_o ill_a fame_n they_o be_v not_o worthy_a to_o be_v receive_v for_o witness_n now_o if_o god_n bid_v muhamed_a to_o inquire_v of_o the_o jew_n and_o christian_n for_o his_o own_o information_n and_o satisfy_v himself_o from_o their_o two_o scripture_n you_o must_v conclude_v o_o moor_n that_o those_o scripture_n at_o the_o time_n of_o such_o inquiry_n be_v good_a and_o true_a as_o still_o they_o be_v and_o will_v always_o be_v and_o for_o this_o reason_n o_o moor_n thou_o must_v be_v silent_a and_o acknowledge_v that_o the_o alcoran_n contradict_v itself_o in_o divers_a place_n and_o so_o i_o will_v conclude_v this_o point_n concern_v the_o superfluous_a and_o immodest_a thing_n which_o muhamed_a have_v insert_v in_o the_o koran_n the_o first_o
who_o create_v all_o thing_n visible_a and_o invisible_a be_v god_n do_v acknowledge_v and_o believe_v the_o prophet_n patriarch_n and_o messenger_n of_o god_n and_o believe_v the_o scripture_n which_o god_n send_v by_o his_o servant_n and_o also_o give_v credit_n to_o the_o evangelist_n the_o thora_n and_o the_o psalter_n and_o believe_v jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o other_o thing_n above_o mention_v so_o that_o i_o say_v that_o although_o muhamed_a in_o his_o time_n do_v some_o wicked_a thing_n as_o we_o have_v say_v before_o for_o which_o divers_a moor_n be_v offend_v at_o he_o yet_o nevertheless_o they_o never_o lose_v the_o faith_n which_o they_o have_v of_o god_n and_o the_o thing_n aforesaid_a for_o although_o they_o be_v ignorant_a they_o acknowledge_v that_o idolatry_n be_v a_o wicked_a thing_n and_o the_o way_n to_o destruction_n and_o so_o they_o have_v continue_v till_o our_o day_n believe_v all_o that_o muhamed_a make_v they_o believe_v wherefore_o i_o say_v that_o if_o muhamed_a will_v the_o moor_n have_v believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o have_v be_v all_o save_v but_o he_o conceive_v that_o if_o they_o have_v believe_v true_o he_o shall_v not_o have_v be_v repute_v for_o a_o prophet_n nor_o a_o lawgiver_n nor_o a_o great_a lord_n and_o this_o detestable_a ambition_n deceive_v muhamed_a and_o after_o he_o deceive_v his_o disciple_n as_o here_o under_o will_v appear_v so_o that_o muhame_v make_v the_o moor_n believe_v a_o great_a part_n of_o the_o christian_a law_n but_o not_o all_o for_o fear_v lest_o they_o shall_v become_v christian_n &_o he_o also_o make_v they_o believe_v a_o great_a part_n of_o the_o jewish_a law_n but_o not_o all_o for_o fear_v lest_o they_o shall_v become_v jew_n and_o make_v they_o also_o believe_v the_o alcoran_n and_o the_o suné_fw-fr and_o so_o many_o other_o foolery_n which_o we_o have_v mention_v above_o that_o he_o may_v make_v they_o moores_n and_o musselman_n in_o this_o manner_n the_o sect_n of_o the_o moor_n increase_v not_o by_o any_o reason_n or_o excellency_n it_o have_v in_o itself_o for_o if_o muhamed_a have_v begin_v his_o sect_n among_o philosopher_n logician_n and_o astrologer_n and_o a_o nation_n that_o have_v have_v any_o law_n it_o have_v never_o have_v any_o progress_n the_o which_o the_o apostle_n of_o jesus_n christ_n do_v for_o they_o preach_v the_o faith_n of_o jesus_n christ_n among_o the_o most_o learned_a of_o all_o the_o jew_n and_o among_o the_o astrologer_n logician_n and_o philosopher_n of_o the_o gentile_n yea_o without_o arm_n or_o battle_n and_o only_o by_o their_o preach_v the_o law_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o his_o gospel_n and_o by_o their_o miracle_n they_o convert_v all_o the_o world_n to_o the_o catholic_a and_o christian_a faith_n beside_o the_o disciple_n of_o jesus_n christ_n wrought_v not_o that_o conversion_n mere_o by_o preach_v and_o do_v miracle_n but_o also_o by_o dispute_v and_o argue_v of_o the_o truth_n and_o by_o confute_v heretic_n and_o wicked_a man_n who_o gainsay_v they_o and_o thus_o the_o christian_a faith_n be_v agitate_a and_o exalt_v by_o disputation_n until_o it_o enlighten_v all_o place_n the_o which_o the_o law_n or_o sect_n of_o muhamed_a can_v endure_v for_o muhameds_n sect_n will_v not_o be_v question_v by_o disputation_n nor_o be_v examine_v by_o natural_a reason_n for_o so_o the_o alcoran_n command_v in_o the_o nine_o chapter_n of_o the_o three_o book_n where_o he_o say_v guale_fw-la tugedilo_fw-la etc._n etc._n i._n e._n never_o dispute_v you_o with_o the_o jew_n or_o christian_n wherefore_o i_o say_v and_o conclude_v that_o muhamed_a withdraw_v the_o people_n of_o mecca_n and_o arabia_n from_o the_o error_n of_o idolatry_n and_o bring_v they_o into_o heresy_n do_v like_o those_o who_o administer_v fatal_a physic_n which_o they_o hide_v in_o good_a tooth_n some_o food_n and_o they_o who_o eat_v thereof_o think_v they_o eat_v some_o delicate_a cate_n be_v poison_v thus_o do_v muhamed_a introduce_v and_o mingle_v his_o false_a law_n and_o his_o imposture_n and_o delusion_n among_o the_o holy_a and_o good_a thing_n of_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n yea_o with_o thing_n of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o so_o he_o make_v a_o law_n and_o sect_n which_o destroy_v those_o eternal_o that_o believe_v it_o even_o as_o adulterate_v medicine_n kill_v those_o that_o take_v they_o and_o let_v this_o be_v sufficient_a for_o the_o first_o cause_n or_o reason_n of_o the_o propagation_n of_o muhameds_n law_n the_o second_o cause_n of_o the_o growth_n and_o increase_n of_o muhamed_n law_n be_v thus_o muhamed_a see_v that_o divers_a rebel_v against_o he_o for_o the_o cause_n aforesaid_a and_o return_v to_o their_o former_a opinion_n and_o require_v he_o to_o do_v miracle_n and_o to_o cause_n sign_n to_o appear_v from_o heaven_n as_o noah_n do_v with_o the_o ark_n and_o moses_n who_o cause_v manna_n to_o fall_v from_o heaven_n forty_o year_n and_o make_v twelve_o fountain_n of_o water_n to_o spring_v out_o of_o a_o rock_n and_o divide_v the_o red_a sea_n into_o twelve_o passage_n and_o muhame_v not_o be_v able_a to_o do_v the_o like_a he_o think_v his_o law_n can_v not_o be_v advance_v any_o other_o way_n than_o by_o the_o sword_n to_o wit_n by_o fight_v with_o unbeliever_n and_o bring_v they_o to_o the_o obedience_n of_o his_o law_n by_o force_n and_o for_o that_o purpose_n he_o begin_v to_o make_v verse_n in_o the_o alcoran_n say_v that_o god_n command_v they_o to_o fight_v against_o the_o unbeliever_n and_o rebellious_a and_o upon_o that_o argument_n make_v a_o chapter_n which_o be_v the_o three_o chapter_n of_o the_o second_o book_n all_o in_o the_o term_n and_o command_n of_o a_o warrior_n wherein_o he_o set_v down_o one_o verse_n which_o be_v call_v the_o verse_n of_o the_o sword_n and_o from_o this_o verse_n the_o whole_a chapter_n be_v call_v the_o chapter_n of_o the_o sword_n which_o verse_n be_v in_o arabic_a thus_o o_o zaltihum_n etc._n etc._n i._n e._n slay_v the_o enemy_n and_o unbeliever_n and_o so_o they_o shall_v be_v torment_v and_o confound_v by_o you_o in_o the_o suné_n he_o say_v thus_o ozatiluanne_n etc._n etc._n i._n e._n kill_v they_o until_o they_o all_o become_v moor_n and_o believer_n which_o command_v muhamed_a have_v reiterated_a in_o divers_a chapter_n of_o the_o alcoran_n but_o indeed_o he_o use_v great_a policy_n in_o it_o and_o bring_v his_o purpose_n about_o very_o subtle_o to_o wit_n that_o in_o such_o a_o kind_n of_o war_n there_o must_v be_v some_o partiality_n and_o certain_a particular_a captain_n or_o otherwise_o it_o can_v not_o be_v for_o which_o purpose_n he_o send_v for_o ten_o man_n who_o be_v already_o convert_v to_o his_o sect_n of_o the_o chief_a of_o all_o arabia_n felix_fw-la and_o arabia_n magna_fw-la man_n much_o follow_v and_o potent_a and_o of_o themselves_o expert_a in_o arm_n and_o well_o exercise_v in_o the_o art_n of_o war_n the_o first_o and_o chief_a of_o they_o be_v call_v ubequar_fw-la the_o second_o homar_n and_o these_o two_o be_v muhameds_n fathers-in-law_n the_o three_o be_v call_v hozman_n who_o collect_v the_o alcoran_n the_o four_o be_v alifrello_n a_o cousin_n of_o muhamed_a and_o these_o be_v all_o of_o muhameds_n kindred_n the_o five_o be_v call_v talha_n the_o six_o azubere_fw-la the_o seven_o zadin_n the_o eight_o zahedin_n the_o nine_o abdorazman_n and_o the_o ten_o abuhobeyde_v these_o he_o convene_v and_o assemble_v under_o a_o tree_n abroad_o in_o the_o field_n and_o there_o begin_v to_o preach_v a_o sermon_n to_o they_o which_o be_v too_o long_o to_o repeat_v here_o in_o brief_a he_o tell_v they_o that_o he_o be_v send_v from_o god_n for_o to_o withdraw_v his_o people_n from_o idolatry_n and_o that_o they_o know_v that_o there_o be_v divers_a jew_n and_o several_a other_o rebellious_a person_n who_o oppose_v his_o law_n and_o that_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o his_o law_n shall_v be_v advance_v and_o exalt_v above_o all_o other_o law_n which_o verse_n be_v insert_v into_o the_o three_o chapter_n of_o the_o sword_n of_o the_o second_o book_n than_o he_o read_v to_o they_o the_o verse_n and_o chapter_n which_o be_v in_o the_o say_v alcoran_n and_o tell_v they_o that_o god_n have_v express_o command_v this_o way_n of_o make_v war_n and_o that_o for_o his_o part_n he_o can_v do_v no_o good_a in_o it_o without_o have_v captain_n and_o leader_n for_o that_o purpose_n these_o commander_n and_o gentleman_n find_v it_o not_o good_a that_o he_o shall_v have_v any_o other_o than_o themselves_o and_o be_v content_a to_o take_v the_o charge_n upon_o themselves_o and_o to_o side_n with_o muhume_v and_o those_o of_o his_o party_n and_o resolve_v to_o die_v both_o they_o and_o they_o in_o the_o advance_n of_o the_o law_n of_o muhamed_a and_o in_o make_v war_n against_o their_o own_o father_n mother_n brethren_n and_o
shall_v change_v it_o let_v god_n curse_n light_n on_o he_o and_o according_a to_o this_o commandment_n the_o moor_n dispose_v of_o their_o estate_n for_o one_o while_n during_o muhamed_n life_n and_o if_o any_o one_o bequeath_v a_o three_o part_n of_o his_o good_n to_o his_o parent_n or_o brethren_n the_o will_n be_v firm_a by_o force_n of_o that_o commandment_n and_o verse_n but_o afterward_o there_o come_v a_o crochet_n into_o muhamed_n head_n and_o without_o any_o verse_n of_o the_o alcoran_n he_o give_v a_o verbal_a command_n clean_o contrary_a viz._n he_o command_v that_o they_o shall_v in_o no_o case_n leave_v a_o three_o part_n of_o their_o good_n to_o father_n mother_n sister_n nor_o brother_n and_o according_a to_o this_o last_o say_n of_o muhamed_a the_o moor_n afterward_o give_v judgement_n and_o do_v judge_n to_o this_o day_n and_o leave_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n and_o the_o verse_n as_o a_o thing_n cancel_v and_o annul_v now_o tell_v i_o o_o moor_n which_o be_v those_o like_a or_o better_a verse_n which_o revoke_v the_o verse_n aforesaid_a because_o the_o alcoran_n in_o a_o chapter_n of_o the_o first_o book_n say_v that_o god_n do_v not_o revoke_v any_o verse_n but_o to_o give_v another_o like_o it_o or_o a_o better_a but_o see_v thou_o have_v no_o answer_n but_o silence_n thou_o must_v know_v that_o it_o be_v a_o great_a transgression_n to_o leave_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n for_o the_o command_n of_o muhamed_a it_o be_v no_o great_a wonder_n if_o one_o of_o god_n command_n do_v revoke_v another_o of_o his_o command_n and_o one_o of_o god_n verse_n revoke_v another_o of_o his_o verse_n because_o he_o that_o make_v a_o law_n may_v and_o have_v authority_n to_o annul_v it_o as_o we_o find_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n that_o god_n command_v and_o afterward_o forbid_v as_o when_o he_o command_v abraham_n to_o sacrifice_v his_o son_n isaac_n and_o afterward_o will_v that_o he_o shall_v not_o sacrifice_v he_o but_o a_o ram_n and_o thelike_o of_o the_o prophet_n ionas_n therefore_o it_o be_v a_o marvellous_a thing_n and_o without_o reason_n and_o justice_n that_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v revoke_v and_o abolish_v by_o a_o sinful_a man_n and_o that_o they_o shall_v observe_v what_o a_o man_n say_v and_o leave_v what_o god_n say_v as_o void_a and_o of_o no_o force_n from_o whence_o thou_o may_v know_v o_o moor_n that_o the_o alcoran_n be_v not_o the_o word_n of_o god_n because_o that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v as_o god_n himself_o and_o none_o can_v nullifye_v god_n or_o his_o word_n now_o then_o in_o regard_n the_o alcoran_n be_v not_o the_o word_n of_o god_n muhamed_a have_v annul_v it_o and_o reject_v it_o for_o that_o which_o god_n have_v lay_v down_o for_o a_o command_n of_o law_n muhamed_a command_v that_o they_o do_v the_o contrary_a not_o show_v any_o authority_n from_o god_n as_o he_o use_v to_o do_v for_o divers_a matter_n and_o for_o several_a act_n which_o he_o do_v as_o a_o little_a hereafter_o shall_v appear_v and_o how_o can_v it_o be_v authentic_a see_v muhamed_a during_o all_o the_o time_n of_o the_o twenty_o three_o year_n in_o which_o he_o be_v give_v the_o law_n and_o make_v the_o alcoran_n always_o alter_v the_o verse_n and_o command_v they_o to_o do_v many_o thing_n by_o authority_n of_o the_o verse_n of_o the_o alcoran_n and_o afterward_o command_v the_o clean_a contrary_n and_o to_o that_o purpose_n give_v authority_n by_o other_o verse_n which_o revoke_v the_o former_a verse_n as_o appear_v in_o the_o change_n of_o the_o alkibla_fw-mi where_o by_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o alcoran_n he_o urge_v that_o they_o shall_v not_o pray_v but_o in_o the_o say_a house_n of_o jerusalem_n or_o in_o the_o house_n or_o mosque_n of_o mecca_n right_a against_o the_o tower_n call_v elcabba_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n it_o be_v now_o call_v alkibla_n of_o which_o alkibla_n and_o alteration_n i_o shall_v say_v something_o in_o the_o chapter_n of_o offence_n and_o thus_o i_o say_v that_o for_o these_o reason_n muhame_v never_o command_v that_o his_o alcoran_n shall_v be_v collect_v or_o reduce_v into_o book_n and_o chapter_n as_o now_o it_o be_v but_o keep_v it_o in_o the_o say_a scroll_n or_o paper_n in_o the_o aforesaid_a ark_n or_o shrine_n and_o many_o of_o they_o be_v lose_v and_o can_v never_o be_v find_v so_o that_o if_o he_o have_v live_v a_o hundred_o year_n he_o will_v still_o have_v alter_v his_o law_n and_o the_o alcoran_n will_v never_o have_v be_v finish_v and_o therefore_o he_o do_v not_o reduce_v it_o into_o the_o form_n which_o it_o now_o have_v but_o it_o be_v do_v after_o he_o be_v dead_a when_o hozman_n his_o son-in-law_n be_v king_n and_o caliph_n who_o be_v the_o three_o king_n after_o muhamed_a for_o after_o muhamed_n death_n the_o aforesaid_a vbequar_fw-la succeed_v as_o king_n and_o caliph_n after_o vbequar_fw-la homar_n alhatab_n be_v king_n and_o caliph_n which_o two_o be_v muhamed_n father_n in_o law_n and_o after_o homar_n this_o hozman_n succeed_v in_o the_o throne_n and_o he_o be_v the_o man_n who_o take_v the_o scroll_n and_o paper_n out_o of_o the_o box_n or_o shrine_n and_o put_v they_o into_o order_n and_o entitle_v the_o chapter_n and_o make_v four_o book_n of_o they_o and_o in_o the_o first_o book_n put_v five_o chapter_n the_o first_o whereof_o be_v call_v the_o chapter_n of_o the_o cow_n the_o second_o the_o chapter_n of_o the_o lineage_n of_o joachim_n the_o father_n of_o our_o lady_n the_o three_o the_o chapter_n of_o woman_n the_o four_o the_o chapter_n of_o the_o table_n and_o the_o five_o the_o chapter_n of_o beast_n in_o the_o second_o book_n he_o put_v 12._o chapter_n 1._o the_o chapter_n of_o moor_n in_o muhamed_n time_n read_v in_o the_o scroll_n or_o paper_n which_o the_o say_a secretary_n write_v the_o which_o i_o prove_v by_o the_o book_n azar_n and_o by_o the_o book_n of_o azzifa_n because_o that_o when_o the_o aforesaid_a hozman_n collect_v the_o alcoran_n he_o find_v several_a paper_n of_o the_o alcoran_n in_o the_o house_n of_o axa_fw-la muhamed_n wife_n eat_v by_o mouse_n out_o of_o which_o he_o can_v gather_v nothing_o they_o have_v lie_v behind_o a_o chest_n and_o be_v spoil_v with_o damp_n and_o mouse_n i_o also_o further_o prove_v it_o by_o the_o aforesaid_a book_n which_o say_v that_o when_o the_o say_v hozman_n collect_v the_o alcoran_n he_o go_v about_o ask_v every_o one_o what_o he_o remember_v of_o the_o alcoran_n some_o tell_v he_o that_o they_o have_v forget_v much_o of_o it_o other_o tell_v he_o that_o in_o such_o a_o wall_n he_o shall_v find_v such_o and_o such_o verse_n in_o writing_n and_o so_o among_o the_o wall_n and_o the_o moor_n he_o get_v part_n of_o it_o yet_o nevertheless_o he_o never_o find_v the_o verse_n which_o in_o muhamed_n time_n command_v that_o marry_a person_n take_v in_o adultery_n shall_v be_v stone_v which_o verse_n
be_v call_v ayate_n ragime_n i._n e._n the_o verse_n of_o lapidation_n which_o be_v in_o the_o six_o chapter_n of_o the_o light_n in_o the_o three_o book_n so_o that_o the_o alcoran_n be_v large_a that_o if_o it_o be_v from_o god_n and_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o of_o it_o which_o be_v lose_v have_v not_o be_v lose_v and_o the_o mouse_n have_v not_o eat_v those_o note_n in_o axa_n house_n &_o that_o verse_n of_o lapidation_n have_v not_o be_v lose_v observe_v then_o o_o moor_n &_o consider_v this_o and_o thou_o will_v know_v thy_o error_n &_o be_v convert_v to_o god_n &_o god_n will_v have_v mercy_n on_o thou_o if_o thou_o love_v thyself_o and_o if_o thy_o soul_n be_v dear_a to_o thou_o and_o so_o i_o will_v conclude_v this_o second_o chapter_n chap._n iii_o the_o three_o chapter_n of_o this_o treatise_n discourse_v of_o muhamed_n suné_n what_o the_o word_n signify_v of_o the_o six_o book_n thereof_o and_o what_o they_o contain_v their_o name_n and_o the_o reason_n of_o the_o collect_v of_o they_o who_o collect_v they_o and_o when_o they_o be_v collect_v correct_v and_o reduce_v into_o the_o order_n they_o be_v now_o in_o suné_fw-fr signify_v a_o way_n or_o law_n or_o the_o follow_n of_o the_o say_n action_n and_o counsel_n of_o muhamed_a which_o his_o disciple_n write_v after_o his_o death_n and_o after_o his_o disciple_n the_o moor_n transcribe_v &_o copy_v the_o disciple_n book_n &_o augment_v and_o abridge_v they_o and_o whole_o alter_v muhamed_n deed_n and_o word_n whence_o proceed_v so_o great_a a_o confusion_n in_o all_o the_o book_n that_o what_o he_o in_o his_o life_n time_n command_v negative_o they_o lay_v the_o same_o down_o affirmative_o and_o what_o muhamed_a have_v command_v and_o set_v down_o in_o his_o law_n affirmative_o they_o set_v the_o same_o down_o negative_o insomuch_o that_o this_o law_n be_v like_a to_o be_v destroy_v and_o never_o use_v more_o upon_o which_o ground_n and_o because_o of_o the_o great_a damage_n and_o difference_n which_o happen_v in_o the_o muhametan_a sect_n and_o to_o prevent_v the_o utter_a loss_n of_o the_o same_o a_o alkalife_n or_o king_n of_o the_o moor_n cause_v public_a proclamation_n to_o be_v make_v through_o all_o his_o dominion_n that_o all_o the_o learned_a man_n alfaquy_n and_o doctor_n shall_v repair_v to_o he_o to_o the_o city_n of_o damascus_n and_o shall_v bring_v with_o they_o all_o the_o book_n that_o can_v be_v find_v write_v of_o the_o suné_fw-fr and_o of_o muhamed_n word_n and_o work_n whereupon_o all_o the_o learned_a man_n then_o lieve_v among_o the_o moor_n come_v thither_o and_o bring_v all_o the_o book_n of_o the_o suné_fw-fr then_o the_o say_a caliph_n or_o king_n of_o the_o moor_n command_v that_o six_o alfaquy_n and_o learned_a man_n who_o be_v of_o the_o suné_fw-fr and_o that_o each_o of_o they_o shall_v by_o himself_o collect_v one_o book_n of_o all_o the_o say_n and_o deed_n of_o muhamed_a which_o he_o shall_v conceive_v to_o be_v true_a and_o that_o they_o shall_v each_o entitle_v his_o book_n with_o his_o own_o name_n so_o these_o six_o man_n go_v into_o a_o house_n with_o all_o the_o book_n which_o the_o moor_n have_v gather_v from_o all_o part_n and_o each_o of_o they_o collect_v a_o book_n and_o entitle_v and_o call_v it_o by_o his_o proper_a name_n and_o they_o present_v they_o to_o the_o king_n or_o caliph_n who_o after_o the_o say_v six_o book_n have_v be_v view_v and_o examine_v by_o all_o the_o other_o doctor_n there_o assemble_v command_v that_o all_o the_o other_o book_n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o a_o great_a river_n near_o damascus_n call_v adegele_n whereupon_o have_v lade_v two_o hundred_o camel_n with_o the_o multitude_n of_o book_n which_o be_v bring_v thither_o they_o cast_v they_o into_o this_o river_n likewise_o the_o king_n give_v notice_n by_o a_o decree_n or_o public_a proclamation_n throughout_o all_o the_o country_n of_o the_o moor_n that_o no_o alfaquy_n shall_v dare_v to_o read_v or_o keep_v any_o book_n but_o the_o six_o aforesaid_a and_o that_o none_o shall_v mention_v any_o say_n or_o deed_n of_o muhamed_a but_o such_o as_o shall_v be_v find_v write_v in_o the_o say_a book_n and_o that_o all_o moor_n and_o musselman_n or_o believer_n of_o muhamed_a shall_v receive_v these_o book_n for_o as_o true_a and_o authentic_a as_o if_o they_o be_v the_o very_a alcoran_n itself_o and_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v less_o reverence_v among_o they_o than_o the_o alcoran_n itself_o all_o which_o the_o moor_n observe_v and_o have_v these_o book_n in_o as_o great_a reverence_n as_o the_o alcoran_n itself_o and_o the_o word_n thereof_o be_v among_o the_o moor_n of_o as_o much_o yea_o great_a authority_n than_o be_v the_o alcoran_n i_o have_v the_o more_o enlarge_v myself_o upon_o this_o point_n because_o that_o in_o some_o case_n they_o follow_v the_o say_n of_o muhamed_a and_o leave_v the_o say_n of_o the_o alcoran_n as_o of_o no_o effect_n which_o saying_n of_o muhamed_a be_v contain_v in_o the_o six_o book_n aforesaid_a so_o that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o in_o their_o opinion_n be_v the_o alcoran_n be_v make_v void_a by_o muhameds_n say_n as_o be_v declare_v in_o the_o precede_a chapter_n and_o as_o shall_v further_o appear_v in_o the_o eleven_o chapter_n in_o this_o manner_n be_v muhamed_n sect_n restore_v and_o for_o this_o the_o moor_n hold_v and_o esteem_v the_o say_a caliph_n for_o a_o saint_n nevertheless_o i_o say_v that_o in_o most_o part_n of_o what_o these_o learned_a man_n gather_v and_o collect_v in_o those_o six_o book_n they_o have_v insert_v several_a contrariety_n and_o divers_a say_n and_o do_n of_o muhamed_a which_o contradict_v each_o other_o and_o do_v not_o agree_v one_o whit_n which_o have_v the_o moor_n of_o meka_n and_o the_o country_n adjacent_a all_o those_o of_o arabia_n the_o happy_a and_o the_o great_a those_o of_o baldeck_n and_o damascus_n of_o alambelii_n opinion_n be_v the_o moor_n of_o armenia_n and_o persia_n and_o of_o buhamfai_n opinion_n be_v the_o moor_n of_o syria_n and_o alexandria_n but_o in_o grand-cair_a all_o the_o four_o opinion_n be_v follow_v i_o mean_v that_o those_o moor_n be_v divide_v into_o four_o party_n or_o sect_n viz._n one_o hold_n melich_n opinion_n another_o alssafihy_n opinion_n another_o be_v of_o the_o three_o opinion_n and_o another_o be_v and_o be_v still_o consufe_v not_o agree_v together_o especial_o in_o their_o suit_n of_o law_n or_o judicature_n marriage_n and_o divorce_n and_o you_o must_v know_v that_o the_o say_n and_o little_a knowledge_n and_o judgement_n the_o first_o argument_n be_v from_o what_o be_v say_v in_o the_o second_o chapter_n of_o the_o four_o book_n which_o be_v in_o arabic_a ogna_n nofigha_n etc._n etc._n i._n e._n that_o at_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n a_o trumpet_n or_o horn_n shall_v sound_v and_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n and_o man_n on_o earth_n shall_v fall_v down_o dead_a and_o refuse_v to_o do_v it_o and_o god_n ask_v he_o why_o he_o will_v not_o worship_v he_o who_o he_o have_v make_v with_o his_o own_o hand_n and_o he_o say_v that_o satan_n answer_v that_o he_o be_v create_v of_o a_o more_o excellent_a nature_n viz._n of_o fire_n and_o adam_n of_o dirt_n than_o god_n curse_v satan_n and_o he_o and_o all_o those_o who_o have_v the_o like_a will_n as_o he_o be_v cast_v into_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n and_o be_v curse_v for_o ever_o all_o this_o the_o alcoran_n affirm_v say_v that_o the_o cause_n of_o the_o fall_n of_o satan_n and_o the_o evil_a angel_n be_v because_o that_o they_o will_v not_o worship_n adam_n nor_o prostrate_v themselves_o before_o he_o and_o the_o word_n in_o arabic_a be_v thus_o ognaidcale_n etc._n etc._n and_o do_v signify_v that_o that_o the_o alcoran_n say_v that_o which_o be_v never_o true_a and_o which_o can_v never_o enter_v into_o the_o brain_n of_o a_o reasonable_a man_n and_o therefore_o in_o conclusion_n i_o say_v that_o the_o alcoran_n have_v not_o any_o reason_n or_o truth_n in_o it_o the_o three_o argument_n be_v upon_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o the_o three_o book_n where_o he_o say_v that_o the_o sin_n and_o deliver_v you_o from_o cruel_a torment_n and_o whosoever_o will_v not_o obey_v the_o prophet_n and_o believe_v in_o he_o shall_v not_o dwell_v long_o on_o earth_n and_o shall_v have_v great_a torment_n all_o this_o be_v in_o the_o arabic_a verbatim_o as_o in_o our_o tongue_n and_o you_o may_v read_v it_o in_o the_o alcoran_n in_o the_o two_o fore_n quote_v chapter_n which_o be_v billehi_fw-la i_o saytani_fw-la ragini_fw-la i._n e._n preserve_v i_o o_o god_n from_o the_o wicked_a and_o curse_a devil_n in_o divers_a place_n the_o alcoran_n say_v that_o you_o must_v resist_v who_o cause_v they_o to_o be_v slay_v and_o say_v further_a that_o when_o the_o angel_n st._n michael_n shall_v weigh_v the_o good_a and_o bad_a work_n of_o man_n these_o sheep_n shall_v come_v and_o lie_v in_o the_o balance_n of_o their_o good_a work_n so_o that_o the_o good_a work_n of_o such_o a_o man_n shall_v weigh_v more_o than_o his_o evil_a work_n and_o for_o this_o reason_n the_o moor_n and_o conversation_n as_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o glory_n which_o we_o be_v to_o have_v in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v and_o in_o muhamed_n law_n or_o religion_n it_o be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o say_v that_o man_n eat_v and_o drink_v in_o paradise_n but_o he_o come_v to_o the_o impudence_n as_o to_o say_v that_o bruit_n beast_n go_v eat_v and_o drink_v in_o paradise_n and_o so_o i_o conclude_v that_o the_o law_n the_o prophet_n and_o scripture_n which_o treat_v and_o speak_v of_o such_o
to_o be_v true_a and_o if_o they_o be_v true_a how_o come_v it_o that_o they_o be_v not_o record_v among_o so_o many_o other_o thing_n which_o be_v write_v of_o solomon_n so_o that_o o_o moor_n you_o must_v believe_v that_o this_o be_v all_o compose_v and_o contrive_v by_o the_o two_o cutler_n above_o mention_v and_o not_o by_o god_n likewise_o the_o alcoran_n say_v in_o the_o 19_o chapter_n of_o for_o if_o the_o earth_n be_v fix_v on_o this_o ox_n horn_n on_o what_o do_v this_o ox_n stand_v consider_v o_o moor_n this_o great_a mistake_n and_o error_n which_o be_v so_o ignorant_a and_o unreasonable_a as_o to_o affirm_v that_o the_o heaven_n be_v create_v of_o smoke_n and_o that_o the_o earth_n be_v fix_v on_o a_o ox_n horn_n likewise_o o_o moor_n i_o will_v have_v thou_o consider_v whether_o this_o ox_n be_v a_o bruit_n beast_n or_o a_o angel_n if_o thou_o say_v it_o be_v a_o beast_n than_o you_o must_v consider_v that_o the_o ox_n must_v eat_v and_o drink_v and_o die_v and_o if_o the_o ox_n die_v then_o be_v the_o earth_n destroy_v but_o if_o thou_o say_v that_o this_o ox_n be_v a_o angel_n it_o must_v also_o die_v opinion_n die_v according_a to_o mahomet_n opinion_n see_v angel_n die_v and_o so_o the_o earth_n will_v be_v destroy_v and_o therefore_o i_o conclude_v that_o all_o this_o aforesaid_a be_v a_o mere_a vanity_n and_o have_v neither_o reason_n nor_o be_v call_v in_o arabic_a munguir_n and_o guannequir_n one_o of_o which_o angel_n carry_v a_o iron_n mace_n and_o the_o other_o certain_a iron_n hook_n or_o fork_n and_o these_o angel_n cause_n the_o dead_a person_n to_o rise_v on_o his_o knee_n and_o the_o dead_a person_n do_v put_v on_o his_o soul_n over_o his_o body_n even_o as_o a_o man_n put_v on_o a_o shirt_n but_o so_o that_o here_o the_o suné_fw-fr say_v not_o that_o the_o dead_a shall_v rise_v again_o out_o of_o the_o grave_n but_o only_o that_o the_o body_n shall_v put_v on_o the_o soul_n and_o after_o that_o the_o dead_a party_n have_v put_v on_o his_o soul_n and_o be_v raise_v on_o his_o knee_n these_o angel_n begin_v to_o examine_v he_o and_o ask_v he_o whether_o he_o believe_v in_o muhamed_a and_o his_o law_n and_o whether_o he_o do_v good_a work_n in_o this_o world_n that_o be_v to_o say_v whether_o he_o make_v his_o zala_n and_o fast_v his_o ramadan_n pay_v tyth_n and_o give_v alm_n and_o if_o the_o dead_a render_v a_o good_a account_n of_o himself_o than_o these_o two_o black_a angel_n leave_v he_o and_o there_o come_v two_o other_o angel_n as_o white_a as_o snow_n and_o one_o of_o they_o sit_v at_o his_o head_n and_o the_o other_o at_o his_o foot_n and_o thus_o these_o two_o angel_n shall_v accompany_v the_o dead_a person_n until_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n but_o if_o the_o dead_a party_n give_v a_o ill_a account_n of_o himself_o than_o say_v the_o suné_n the_o angel_n that_o carry_v the_o mace_n shall_v strike_v he_o such_o a_o blow_n on_o the_o head_n as_o shall_v run_v he_o seven_o fathom_n under_o ground_n and_o the_o other_o shall_v present_o fasten_v his_o hook_n upon_o he_o and_o drag_v he_o under_o the_o earth_n and_o he_o that_o have_v the_o mace_n shall_v continual_o beat_v he_o with_o great_a blow_n and_o he_o that_o have_v the_o fork_n shall_v continual_o drag_v he_o until_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n all_o which_o the_o moor_n hold_v for_o authentic_a and_o for_o a_o article_n of_o their_o faith_n the_o word_n in_o arabic_a say_v thus_o ogua_n arm_n almu_n etc._n etc._n i._n e._n that_o the_o moor_n be_v examine_v in_o their_o sepulcher_n whether_o they_o have_v do_v good_a or_o evil_a work_n and_o that_o god_n will_v confirm_v and_o accomplish_v the_o answer_n of_o those_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o and_o in_o muhamed_a meaning_n that_o they_o will_v answer_v well_o and_o shall_v not_o have_v any_o torment_n for_o which_o purpose_n and_o the_o angel_n examination_n the_o moor_n make_v their_o sepulcher_n spacious_a leave_v a_o void_a place_n where_o the_o dead_a lie_v and_o cover_v the_o place_n with_o plank_n that_o the_o earth_n may_v not_o fall_v on_o the_o dead_a party_n likewise_o they_o leave_v the_o clothes_n wherein_o the_o dead_a be_v wind_v up_o untie_v at_o the_o head_n and_o foot_n that_o the_o dead_a may_v put_v forth_o his_o head_n and_o foot_n and_o raise_v himself_o upon_o his_o knee_n when_o he_o be_v examine_v and_o also_o the_o moor_n put_v about_o the_o dead_a body_n certain_a name_n write_v with_o safforn_n and_o oringe-flower_n water_n or_o wrap_v they_o in_o the_o wind_a sheet_n to_o the_o end_n that_o the_o dead_a person_n may_v be_v deliver_v from_o the_o pain_n and_o torment_n of_o the_o grave_n and_o sepulchre_n furthermore_o the_o moor_n have_v a_o prayer_n which_o they_o say_v every_o day_n after_o their_o zala_n or_o morning_n prayer_n beseech_v god_n to_o deliver_v and_o preserve_v they_o from_o the_o torment_n of_o the_o grave_n which_o prayer_n be_v in_o arabic_a thus_o o_o allahume_n negine_v etc._n etc._n i._n e._n deliver_v i_o o_o lord_n god_n from_o the_o inquisition_n of_o the_o two_o angel_n and_o from_o the_o torment_n of_o the_o grave_n and_o from_o the_o evil_a life_n amen_o all_o this_o i_o have_v here_o insert_v that_o the_o moor_n may_v not_o deny_v this_o article_n and_o that_o they_o may_v also_o see_v the_o vanity_n which_o they_o hold_v and_o believe_v in_o their_o law_n or_o worship_n for_o this_o be_v a_o very_a vain_a and_o ridiculous_a thing_n and_o without_o any_o reason_n now_o speak_v o_o moor_n who_o be_v a_o man_n of_o good_a reason_n and_o judgement_n how_o be_v it_o possible_a that_o such_o a_o say_n as_o this_o can_v enter_v into_o thy_o head_n and_o that_o thou_o shall_v believe_v so_o great_a a_o mockery_n and_o untruth_n the_o which_o do_v contradict_v the_o alcoran_n and_o the_o suné_n itself_o for_o the_o alcoran_n and_o the_o suné_fw-fr in_o several_a place_n do_v say_v
that_o at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n every_o body_n shall_v receive_v its_o soul_n and_o man_n shall_v rise_v with_o soul_n and_o body_n for_o to_o give_v account_n to_o god_n at_o the_o last_o judgement_n and_o every_o one_o with_o his_o body_n shall_v receive_v glory_n or_o punishment_n now_o than_o if_o this_o be_v true_a how_o be_v it_o that_o the_o suné_fw-fr ses_fw-fr that_o man_n receive_v glory_n or_o punishment_n in_o the_o grave_n and_o how_o can_v it_o enter_v into_o the_o brain_n of_o a_o divine_a or_o of_o any_o man_n of_o knowledge_n that_o the_o body_n shall_v put_v on_o the_o soul_n like_o a_o shirt_n and_o suppose_v it_o be_v true_a and_o that_o the_o soul_n do_v clothe_v the_o body_n like_o a_o shirt_n nevertheless_o this_o body_n be_v not_o a_o man_n that_o can_v be_v examine_v or_o torment_v neither_o be_v the_o soul_n of_o itself_o man_n for_o man_n can_v be_v so_o call_v but_o when_o he_o be_v live_v and_o compose_v of_o soul_n and_o body_n together_o how_o then_o can_v the_o body_n answer_v without_o a_o soul_n or_o the_o soul_n without_o a_o body_n and_o how_o can_v the_o body_n when_o it_o be_v a_o carcase_n and_o lump_n of_o earth_n feel_v the_o bastinado_n or_o blow_n of_o a_o mace_n so_o that_o o_o moor_n and_o wiseman_n as_o thou_o think_v thyself_o to_o be_v thou_o have_v no_o answer_n but_o silence_n and_o to_o acknowledge_v that_o all_o this_o be_v vanity_n and_o the_o word_n of_o man_n ignorant_a and_o of_o small_a understanding_n i_o will_v also_o o_o moor_n that_o thou_o shall_v tell_v i_o how_o will_v the_o two_o white_a angel_n accompany_v this_o dead_a body_n when_o it_o be_v full_a of_o worm_n and_o when_o it_o be_v corrupt_v and_o stink_v horrible_o and_o what_o blow_n can_v the_o black_a angel_n give_v if_o the_o body_n be_v all_o filth_n worm_n and_o earth_n and_o yet_o the_o suné_fw-fr say_v that_o they_o shall_v beat_v it_o thus_o until_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n so_o that_o o_o moor_n thou_o must_v believe_v that_o the_o word_n of_o the_o suné_fw-fr carry_v no_o good_a reason_n with_o they_o as_o neither_o do_v the_o word_n of_o thy_o prophet_n muhamed_a and_o here_o i_o will_v conclude_v this_o five_o chapter_n chap._n vi_o the_o six_o chapter_n treat_v of_o divers_a offence_n which_o the_o moor_n take_v whilst_o muhamed_a be_v institute_v his_o law_n and_o sect_n by_o reason_n of_o which_o offence_n divers_a moor_n become_v more_o cautious_a and_o wise_a rebel_v against_o muhamed_a and_o return_v to_o their_o former_a sect_n and_o way_n of_o worship_n the_o first_o offence_n be_v upon_o the_o translation_n and_o vision_n which_o muhamed_a have_v one_o night_n and_o his_o ascension_n to_o heaven_n by_o a_o ladder_n and_o his_o ride_v upon_o alborack_n and_o for_o the_o thing_n which_o he_o say_v he_o see_v that_o night_n in_o heaven_n as_o shall_v more_o at_o large_a appear_v in_o our_o eight_o chapter_n for_o which_o the_o moor_n take_v offence_n and_o rebel_v against_o he_o the_o second_o offence_n be_v upon_o the_o alter_n of_o the_o alkibla_fw-mi viz._n when_o muhamed_a dwell_v at_o mecca_n and_o begin_v his_o sect_n he_o command_v they_o to_o make_v their_o prayer_n and_o zala_n towards_o the_o holy_a temple_n of_o jerusalem_n i._n e._n that_o when_o they_o pray_v they_o shall_v turn_v their_o face_n towards_o the_o temple_n of_o jerusalem_n which_o command_n and_o practice_n continue_v among_o the_o moor_n 12_o year_n ten_o year_n at_o mecca_n and_o 2_o year_n at_o medina_n which_o be_v two_o year_n after_o the_o banishment_n which_o banishment_n of_o muhamed_a be_v call_v in_o arabic_a alhigera_n now_o when_o muhamed_a and_o the_o other_o moor_n be_v in_o medina_n there_o be_v also_o divers_a jew_n who_o tell_v the_o moor_n that_o muhame_v command_v his_o follower_n to_o make_v their_o prayer_n towards_o the_o holy_a temple_n of_o jerusalem_n towards_o which_o place_n the_o jew_n also_o make_v their_o prayer_n likewise_o the_o jew_n tell_v they_o that_o muhamed_a command_v the_o moor_n to_o fast_v the_o same_o fast_a as_o the_o jew_n do_v and_o so_o the_o jew_n tell_v they_o that_o they_o moores_n follow_v the_o custom_n of_o the_o jew_n in_o their_o manner_n of_o fast_v and_o of_o make_v their_o prayer_n towards_o the_o holy_a temple_n of_o jerusalem_n which_o two_o commandment_n of_o fast_v and_o prayer_n be_v write_v in_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o the_o alcoran_n and_o upon_o occasion_n of_o the_o jew_n talk_v in_o this_o manner_n and_o their_o dispute_v with_o muhamed_a and_o the_o moor_n about_o their_o fast_n and_o prayer_n the_o jewish_a fast_o i_o prove_v it_o by_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o the_o first_o book_n of_o the_o alcoran_n which_o in_o arabic_a say_v thus_o oya_n aynhe_o etc._n etc._n i._n e._n o_o you_o command_n be_v in_o the_o same_o book_n and_o chapter_n and_o be_v in_o arabic_a thus_o osabro_n ramadan_n alledi_fw-la onzele_n fihi_fw-la alcoran_n i._n e._n that_o thence_o forward_o they_o shall_v fast_o in_o the_o month_n ramadan_n in_o which_o month_n the_o alcoran_n be_v inspire_v and_o moreover_o the_o same_o year_n he_o command_v they_o to_o change_v the_o alkibla_fw-mi upon_o the_o same_o reason_n of_o the_o jew_n dispute_v and_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o pray_v any_o more_o towards_o the_o holy_a temple_n of_o jerusalem_n but_o only_o towards_o the_o minster_n or_o temple_n of_o towards_o the_o temple_n of_o mecca_n and_o forasmuch_o as_o the_o aforesaid_a idol_n be_v in_o the_o say_a temple_n of_o mecca_n the_o jew_n again_o oppose_v the_o moor_n tell_v and_o show_v they_o how_o muhamed_a make_v they_o return_v to_o idolatry_n again_o by_o command_v they_o to_o pray_v towards_o the_o place_n where_o the_o idol_n be_v whereupon_o the_o moor_n be_v offend_v at_o he_o and_o acknowledge_v that_o it_o be_v a_o great_a error_n to_o leave_v the_o holy_a temple_n of_o jerusalem_n and_o the_o holy_a house_n of_o solomon_n and_o to_o turn_v their_o face_n and_o pray_v towards_o mecca_n where_o the_o idol_n be_v towards_o which_o place_n all_o the_o idolater_n of_o the_o country_n about_o mecca_n turn_v their_o face_n in_o honour_n to_o the_o say_a idol_n and_o thus_o the_o moor_n begin_v to_o murmur_v against_o muhamed_a and_o say_v that_o it_o be_v not_o good_a to_o pray_v to_o the_o idol_n and_o thereupon_o divers_a moor_n become_v wary_a and_o circumspect_a and_o turn_v to_o their_o former_a sect_n and_o way_n of_o worship_n and_o when_o muhamed_a see_v the_o great_a offence_n they_o take_v he_o make_v the_o verse_n aforesaid_a and_o thereupon_o the_o moor_n be_v silent_a and_o be_v induce_v to_o make_v prayer_n towards_o the_o temple_n of_o mecca_n say_v that_o god_n be_v please_v with_o it_o and_o have_v command_v it_o by_o the_o alcoran_n and_o this_o be_v the_o moor_n second_o offence_n and_o muhamed_a and_o the_o moor_n continue_v thus_o five_o year_n make_v their_o prayer_n towards_o mecca_n whilst_o the_o aforesaid_a idol_n be_v in_o the_o temple_n of_o mecca_n until_o muhamed_a conquer_a mecca_n and_o destroy_v the_o idol_n and_o most_o part_n of_o the_o people_n of_o mecca_n be_v slay_v by_o the_o sword_n because_o they_o will_v not_o become_v moores_n now_o tell_v i_o o_o moor_n what_o think_v thou_o of_o these_o five_o year_n during_o which_o muhamed_a and_o the_o moor_n make_v their_o prayer_n towards_o the_o place_n where_o the_o idol_n be_v true_o to_o
with_o the_o prophet_n for_o the_o same_o the_o glosser_n say_v that_o muhamed_a for_o his_o great_a justification_n and_o for_o fear_n lest_o the_o moor_n shall_v be_v further_o offend_v bid_v his_o servant_n zeiden_n to_o take_v his_o wife_n again_o the_o comentator_n say_v that_o god_n say_v to_o he_o muhame_v through_o fear_n of_o man_n say_v one_o thing_n with_o his_o lip_n but_o conceal_v in_o his_o heart_n the_o love_n he_o bear_v to_o this_o woman_n wherefore_o i_o god_n command_n and_o be_o content_a that_o thou_o marry_v she_o since_o her_o husband_n have_v have_v his_o pleasure_n of_o she_o and_o i_o god_n do_v this_o that_o thou_o may_v not_o be_v grieve_v the_o text_n and_o gloss_n say_v all_o this_o verbatim_o which_o be_v the_o great_a cruelty_n bawdry_n and_o wickedness_n that_o two_o pander_n can_v plot_v together_o and_o then_o to_o excuse_v himself_o from_o god_n and_o make_v verse_n say_v that_o god_n be_v please_v with_o he_o and_o that_o god_n do_v it_o to_o content_v muhamed_a and_o to_o satisfy_v his_o desire_n tell_v the_o moor_n that_o god_n be_v please_v at_o it_o all_o which_o be_v prove_v by_o the_o alcoran_n which_o write_v it_o as_o i_o say_v before_o and_o by_o the_o book_n of_o azar_n which_o relate_v all_o this_o at_o large_a now_o tell_v i_o o_o moor_n in_o what_o law_n or_o commandment_n do_v we_o read_v that_o a_o marry_a man_n shall_v love_v another_o man_n wife_n and_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o take_v she_o from_o her_o husband_n nay_o first_o tell_v i_o how_o do_v mahume_v understand_v the_o ten_o commandment_n which_o god_n give_v unto_o moses_n in_o mount_n sinai_n which_o say_v thou_o shall_v not_o covet_v another_o wife_n which_o commandment_n muhamed_a in_o his_o law_n have_v command_v to_o be_v observe_v and_o then_o tell_v i_o thy_o thought_n upon_o this_o inordinate_a affection_n which_o muhamed_a bore_n to_o zeiden_n wife_n which_o inordinate_a affection_n god_n himself_o publish_v in_o the_o alcoran_n which_o say_v that_o god_n know_v the_o love_n and_o affection_n which_o muhamed_a bear_v in_o his_o heart_n to_o this_o woman_n though_o he_o conceal_v it_o and_o for_o fear_n of_o man_n make_v show_v otherwise_o for_o thou_o may_v well_o know_v that_o he_o that_o do_v such_o thing_n be_v not_o neither_o can_v be_v a_o prophet_n nor_o a_o messenger_n of_o god_n nor_o a_o legislator_n or_o lawgiver_n chap._n vii_o the_o seven_o chapter_n treat_v of_o muhamed_n wife_n and_o virgin_n and_o how_o many_o proffer_a themselves_o to_o he_o without_o contract_n of_o marriage_n by_o a_o special_a law_n which_o he_o make_v for_o himself_o and_o of_o the_o jar_n difference_n dissension_n and_o offence_n which_o happen_v betwixt_o muhamed_a and_o his_o wife_n and_o slave_n i_o say_v and_o prove_v by_o the_o book_n of_o azar_n that_o muhame_v marry_v fifteen_o wife_n and_o have_v eleven_o wife_n together_o beside_o slave_n and_o of_o all_o his_o wife_n have_v but_o two_o virgin_n and_o have_v also_o four_o wife_n who_o proffer_a themselves_o to_o he_o by_o virtue_n of_o the_o say_v special_a law_n and_o o_o moor_n if_o thou_o do_v not_o know_v that_o muhamed_a have_v nine_o wife_n together_o i_o prove_v it_o by_o a_o book_n call_v assamiel_n which_o be_v the_o book_n of_o the_o good_a custom_n of_o muhamed_a where_o praise_v muhamed_a and_o speak_v of_o his_o virill_a strength_n it_o say_v that_o in_o one_o hour_n muhamed_a lie_v with_o all_o his_o wife_n which_o be_v eleven_o the_o word_n of_o the_o say_a book_n assaniel_n be_v in_o arabic_a thus_o o_o guamin_n etc._n etc._n which_o text_n may_v well_o have_v be_v omit_v and_o better_o have_v be_v silent_a of_o such_o thing_n than_o to_o publish_v they_o for_o it_o be_v unseemly_a to_o make_v a_o virtue_n of_o vice_n and_o to_o apply_v carnal_a and_o luxurious_a thing_n to_o sanctity_n and_o good_a custom_n and_o to_o say_v that_o god_n be_v please_v &_o serve_v with_o such_o baseness_n as_o which_o we_o have_v already_o show_v and_o shall_v further_o show_v in_o this_o chapter_n and_o i_o further_o prove_v it_o by_o the_o say_a book_n azar_n and_o by_o a_o book_n call_v almazhedi_n which_o say_v that_o when_o muhamed_a die_v his_o nine_o wife_n be_v present_a which_o nine_o wife_n continue_v widow_n and_o so_o die_v by_o a_o special_a law_n which_o muhame_v make_v for_o himself_o as_o shall_v hereafter_o appear_v and_o the_o four_o present_v wife_n which_o muhamed_a have_v he_o get_v they_o by_o a_o particular_a and_o special_a law_n which_o he_o make_v for_o himself_o for_o you_o must_v know_v that_o muhamed_a make_v two_o law_n one_o general_a law_n for_o all_o the_o moor_n and_o himself_o and_o another_o law_n for_o himself_o in_o particular_a which_o law_n he_o make_v in_o four_o case_n the_o first_o command_v that_o no_o moor_n shall_v take_v or_o marry_v any_o of_o his_o wife_n whether_o repudiate_v or_o widow_n by_o which_o law_n his_o say_v nine_o wife_n remain_v widow_n and_o never_o marry_v again_o the_o second_o special_a law_n be_v for_o the_o proffer_a wife_n where_o he_o command_v in_o the_o 17_o chapter_n of_o the_o three_o book_n that_o what_o wife_n soever_o will_v proffer_n herself_o to_o the_o prophet_n muhamed_a he_o may_v take_v she_o and_o be_v marry_v to_o she_o without_o any_o contract_n of_o marriage_n and_o this_o be_v only_o permit_v to_o he_o and_o not_o to_o any_o other_o moor_n the_o three_o special_a law_n be_v that_o whereas_o there_o be_v a_o general_a law_n and_o commandment_n in_o the_o 3._o chapter_n of_o the_o first_o book_n of_o the_o alcoran_n that_o every_o moor_n may_v marry_v one_o two_o three_o or_o four_o wife_n and_o no_o more_o muhamed_a except_v himself_o and_o have_v power_n to_o marry_v as_o many_o wife_n as_o he_o will_v in_o the_o 17_o chapter_n of_o the_o three_o book_n the_o four_o particular_a law_n be_v concern_v equality_n among_o wife_n which_o the_o morish_a law_n require_v of_o every_o moor_n that_o have_v two_o three_o or_o four_o wife_n aswell_o at_o board_n government_n as_o at_o bed_n and_o if_o the_o husband_n do_v otherwise_o the_o wife_n which_o find_v themselves_o aggrieve_v may_v warn_v and_o summon_v he_o before_o the_o judge_n except_o muhamed_a who_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o observe_v this_o law_n neither_o do_v it_o extend_v to_o he_o as_o you_o may_v see_v in_o the_o 17_o chapter_n of_o the_o three_o book_n where_o muhamed_a terrify_v his_o wife_n say_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v content_a with_o whatsoever_o muhamed_a will_v give_v they_o and_o whensoever_o and_o with_o whichsoever_o of_o they_o he_o will_v please_v to_o bed_n take_v his_o pleasure_n and_o depart_v and_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v content_a with_o every_o thing_n and_o shall_v not_o take_v condition_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v content_a with_o all_o thing_n and_o shall_v be_v quiet_a and_o not_o sorrowful_a at_o all_o for_o thy_o do_n the_o moor_n read_v all_o this_o text_n but_o understand_v it_o not_o for_o do_v they_o understand_v it_o they_o will_v not_o continue_v moores_n and_o musselman_n now_o speak_v o_o moor_n thou_o reader_n of_o the_o alcoran_n how_o often_o have_v thou_o read_v this_o and_o delight_v thyself_o with_o the_o sweet_a sound_n of_o the_o word_n and_o have_v not_o think_v or_o conceive_v what_o the_o word_n mean_v therefore_o hence_o forth_o observe_v and_o read_v and_o consider_v what_o thou_o read_v and_o thou_o will_v find_v many_o thing_n without_o reason_n and_o justice_n and_o thus_o you_o must_v understand_v that_o this_o four_o special_a law_n and_o the_o verse_n aforesaid_a be_v make_v by_o reason_n of_o certain_a gentlewoman_n muhameds_n repudiate_v wife_n who_o be_v not_o so_o well_o govern_v as_o the_o rest_n but_o complain_v to_o muhamed_a entreat_v he_o to_o regard_n god_n and_o his_o conscience_n and_o to_o make_v they_o equal_a to_o his_o other_o wife_n and_o see_v they_o also_o be_v his_o wife_n that_o they_o may_v not_o be_v neglect_v unto_o who_o he_o answer_v with_o the_o verse_n above_o say_v that_o god_n will_v have_v it_o so_o and_o that_o for_o his_o part_n he_o be_v not_o to_o follow_v the_o moor_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o equality_n and_o they_o have_v understand_v and_o hear_v the_o verse_n and_o that_o god_n have_v send_v they_o to_o he_o because_o of_o they_o they_o be_v content_a to_o take_v all_o thing_n patient_o but_o nevertheless_o they_o all_o say_v
crow_v also_o and_o whilst_o muhamed_a stand_v wonder_v at_o it_o this_o great_a cock_n begin_v to_o crow_v and_o all_o the_o cock_n in_o heaven_n crow_v with_o he_o and_o present_o afterward_o all_o the_o cock_n on_o earth_n crow_v also_o the_o say_a book_n say_v that_o from_o this_o place_n they_o ascend_v to_o the_o second_o heaven_n which_o be_v make_v of_o beat_a gold_n and_o knock_v at_o the_o gate_n and_o the_o porter_n ask_v who_o be_v there_o the_o angel_n gabriel_n answer_v it_o be_v i_o and_o muhamed_a the_o friend_n of_o god_n be_v here_o with_o i_o and_o as_o soon_o as_o he_o have_v name_v muhamed_a present_o the_o gate_n of_o that_o heaven_n open_v of_o themselves_o and_o they_o go_v in_o and_o see_v upon_o all_o the_o gate_n of_o that_o heaven_n the_o name_n of_o god_n write_v together_o with_o the_o name_n of_o muhamed_a which_o be_v in_o arabic_a thus_o ole_n ilehe_fw-ge ille_fw-la allah_o muheme_v razolo_o allah_o i._n e._n this_o god_n be_v the_o only_a god_n come_v to_o god_n he_o say_v that_o in_o this_o second_o heaven_n they_o find_v a_o great_a multitude_n of_o angel_n half_a as_o many_o more_o as_o be_v in_o the_o first_o heaven_n and_o of_o very_o wonderful_a and_o great_a shape_n among_o which_o be_v one_o angel_n who_o stand_v on_o the_o second_o heaven_n and_o his_o head_n reach_v to_o the_o three_o and_o one_o of_o his_o hand_n to_o the_o east_n and_o the_o other_o unto_o the_o west_n end_n of_o heaven_n and_o many_o other_o wonderful_a thing_n they_o see_v here_o and_o from_o this_o heaven_n they_o ascend_v to_o the_o three_o heaven_n which_o be_v make_v of_o a_o precious_a stone_n and_o there_o they_o meet_v with_o abraham_n be_v a_o old_a hoary_a man_n and_o the_o angel_n in_o this_o heaven_n be_v far_o more_o in_o number_n than_o those_o of_o the_o two_o other_o heaven_n and_o much_o great_a and_o among_o they_o they_o see_v a_o angel_n who_o from_o one_o eye_n to_o the_o other_o have_v the_o distance_n of_o 70000._o dayes-journey_n which_o angel_n hold_v a_o book_n in_o his_o hand_n and_o never_o do_v any_o thing_n else_o but_o look_n on_o the_o say_a book_n and_o expunge_v what_o be_v therein_o write_v and_o answer_v and_o tell_v he_o that_o this_o angel_n be_v call_v in_o arabic_a malach_n almenti_fw-la i._n e._n the_o angel_n of_o the_o dead_a and_o the_o book_n which_o he_o have_v in_o his_o hand_n be_v the_o book_n call_v in_o arabic_a alhaunhe_n ahnafod_a i._n e._n the_o preserve_a book_n wherein_o be_v the_o name_n of_o all_o man_n that_o be_v bear_v and_o the_o angel_n note_v and_o calculate_v the_o year_n and_o day_n that_o every_o one_o must_v live_v and_o when_o any_o man_n day_n be_v expire_v he_o expunge_n such_o a_o man_n name_n and_o present_o the_o man_n die_v on_o earth_n likewise_o he_o write_v down_o the_o name_n of_o all_o man_n that_o be_v bear_v and_o the_o day_n of_o their_o life_n and_o how_o long_o they_o shall_v live_v so_o that_o this_o angel_n have_v no_o other_o office_n but_o to_o put_v in_o and_o expunge_v out_o of_o this_o book_n he_o say_v that_o from_o thence_o they_o go_v to_o the_o four_o heaven_n which_o be_v make_v of_o a_o very_a pure_a emerald_n in_o which_o heaven_n they_o find_v joseph_n the_o son_n of_o jacob_n who_o greet_v muhamed_a and_o make_v great_a application_n to_o he_o and_o there_o they_o see_v many_o more_o angel_n than_o be_v in_o the_o other_o heaven_n and_o of_o far_o great_a body_n among_o which_o there_o be_v one_o great_a angel_n which_o make_v great_a lamentation_n muhamed_a ask_v the_o angel_n gabriel_n wherefore_o this_o angel_n lament_v so_o and_o gabriel_n answer_v he_o that_o that_o angel_n lament_v the_o sin_n of_o man_n and_o those_o which_o go_v to_o hell_n from_o thence_o they_o go_v to_o the_o five_o heaven_n which_o be_v make_v of_o a_o diamond_n where_o moses_n be_v who_o make_v application_n to_o muhamed_a and_o in_o this_o heaven_n be_v as_o many_o angel_n as_o in_o the_o other_o but_o far_o great_a and_o so_o they_o ascend_v to_o the_o six_o heaven_n where_o be_v john_n baptist_n who_o salute_v muhamed_a and_o in_o this_o heaven_n they_o see_v a_o multitude_n of_o angel_n far_o great_a than_o any_o of_o the_o former_a and_o this_o heaven_n be_v make_v of_o a_o carbuncle_n in_o the_o seven_o heaven_n they_o meet_v with_o jesus_n christ_n unto_o who_o muhamed_a make_v application_n and_o this_o heaven_n be_v make_v of_o the_o light_n of_o god_n and_o here_o they_o see_v many_o more_o angel_n than_o in_o the_o other_o six_o heaven_n and_o far_o great_a among_o which_o be_v one_o that_o have_v seventie_o thousand_o head_n and_o every_o head_n have_v seven_o hundred_o thousand_o tongue_n and_o each_o of_o these_o tongue_n have_v seven_o hundred_o thousand_o voice_n with_o all_o which_o voice_n or_o language_n they_o praise_v god_n day_n and_o night_n likewise_o among_o these_o angel_n be_v divers_a which_o always_o watch_v without_o ever_o shut_v their_o eye_n other_o always_o bow_v their_o head_n without_o ever_o erect_v themselves_o other_o lay_v always_o prostrate_a and_o never_o arise_v and_o other_o praise_v god_n with_o such_o loud_a voice_n that_o they_o put_v their_o finger_n into_o their_o ear_n lest_o they_o shall_v become_v deaf_a with_o the_o noise_n of_o their_o voice_n in_o this_o seven_o heaven_n the_o angel_n gabriel_n take_v his_o leave_n of_o muhamed_a and_o tell_v he_o that_o he_o may_v not_o go_v further_o and_o that_o now_o god_n will_v guide_v he_o himself_o muhamed_a say_v that_o he_o begin_v to_o ascend_v certain_a sublimity_n and_o height_n and_o through_o so_o much_o rain_n and_o snow_n that_o he_o become_v so_o weary_v and_o tire_v that_o he_o can_v go_v no_o far_o and_o at_o that_o instant_n muhamed_a hear_v a_o voice_n say_v in_o arabic_a thus_o oya_n muhamed_a anden_fw-mi gualirabach_fw-mi cellem_fw-la i._n e._n o_o muhamed_a approach_n and_o salute_v thy_o creator_n whereupon_o muhamed_a draw_v near_o to_o the_o voice_n and_o see_v so_o great_a a_o light_n that_o it_o trouble_v his_o sight_n he_o say_v that_o god_n have_v on_o his_o glorious_a face_n seventy_o thousand_o veil_n of_o divine_a light_n and_o the_o text_n of_o the_o alcoran_n in_o the_o three_o book_n say_v that_o muhamed_a approach_v god_n within_o two_o bowe-shot_n or_o little_o less_o in_o arabic_a it_n be_v thus_o o_o zumen_fw-la etc._n etc._n i._n e._n that_o muhamed_a approach_v god_n within_o little_a less_o than_o two_o shot_n of_o a_o cross-bow_n muhamed_a say_v further_o that_o so_o great_a a_o light_n proceed_v from_o the_o veil_n which_o god_n have_v on_o his_o face_n that_o he_o can_v not_o behold_v the_o visage_n of_o god_n nevertheless_o muhamed_a say_v that_o god_n interpose_v his_o hand_n for_o a_o shadow_n unto_o muhamed_a but_o he_o can_v not_o endure_v it_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o great_a cold_a which_o proceed_v from_o it_o he_o say_v that_o in_o this_o place_n god_n speak_v to_o he_o and_o give_v he_o divers_a commandment_n of_o the_o law_n and_o tell_v he_o many_o secret_n and_o you_o must_v know_v that_o if_o i_o shall_v write_v all_o the_o thing_n which_o muhamed_a say_v he_o see_v that_o night_n a_o ream_n of_o paper_n will_v not_o contain_v they_o muhamed_a say_v as_o the_o book_n azar_n report_v that_o this_o night_n god_n grant_v five_o thing_n unto_o he_o which_o be_v never_o give_v to_o any_o man_n before_o nor_o since_o the_o first_o be_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v the_o chief_a and_o most_o elect_a creature_n that_o god_n ever_o create_v either_o in_o heaven_n or_o on_o earth_n which_o the_o arabic_a call_v hayriall_a quilleh_n the_o second_o be_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v the_o most_o excellent_a and_o most_o honourable_a lord_n of_o all_o the_o son_n of_o adam_n at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n the_o arabic_a say_v thus_o leydo_o qualidiademe_n y_fw-fr aume_fw-fr alquima_fw-la the_o three_o be_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v the_o general_a redeemer_n which_o in_o arabic_a be_v say_v safey_n mustafa_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n muhamed_a be_v by_o another_o name_n call_v almebi_n i_o e._n he_o that_o take_v away_o sin_n the_o four_o be_v
ever_o die_v or_o have_v any_o hurt_n after_o this_o manner_n the_o alcoran_n and_o the_o suné_fw-fr describe_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o other_o world_n the_o say_a banquet_n shall_v be_v make_v in_o the_o paradise_n call_v genete_n alcoduz_n but_o muhamed_a will_v make_v another_o feast_n to_o all_o the_o moor_n at_o his_o say_a fountain_n call_v alcauzar_n and_o shall_v give_v they_o drink_v with_o his_o own_o hand_n as_o the_o suné_n say_v and_o in_o the_o book_n call_v in_o arabic_a quitebe_n alainiar_n i_o e._n the_o book_n of_o flower_n the_o word_n in_o arabic_a run_v thus_o aneguaquesin_n hale_v etc._n etc._n i._n e._n that_o muhume_v will_v be_v at_o his_o fountain_n and_o the_o moorish_a people_n shall_v pass_v by_o it_o and_o muhamed_a with_o his_o own_o hand_n shall_v give_v every_o one_o of_o they_o to_o drink_v of_o the_o water_n of_o that_o fountain_n and_o those_o that_o drink_v of_o this_o fonntaine_n he_o say_v shall_v never_o thirst_v in_o the_o fountain_n be_v as_o many_o in_o number_n as_o the_o star_n of_o heaven_n now_o i_o will_v speak_v to_o thou_o o_o moor_n and_o say_v something_o upon_o this_o glory_n which_o you_o moores_n be_v to_o enjoy_v in_o the_o other_o world_n and_o although_o i_o be_o weary_a and_o trouble_v with_o write_v so_o many_o gullerye_n and_o thing_n against_o reason_n and_o all_o law_n nevertheless_o i_o will_v speak_v of_o two_o thing_n which_o i_o find_v want_v in_o your_o paradise_n and_o in_o all_o the_o glory_n aforesaid_a the_o first_o defect_n be_v that_o whereas_o the_o alcoran_n and_o the_o suné_n hold_v forth_o such_o and_o so_o great_a paradise_n so_o stately_a build_v and_o so_o rich_o adorn_v they_o make_v no_o mention_n of_o easement_n and_o that_o they_o be_v also_o magnificent_o build_v especial_o have_v speak_v of_o so_o much_o eat_v and_o of_o so_o much_o drink_v viz._n of_o honey_n milk_n claret_n and_o hippocras_n the_o second_o defect_n be_v that_o he_o make_v no_o mention_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o woman_n for_o whereas_o the_o alcoran_n and_o the_o suné_n have_v promise_v that_o the_o man_n shall_v have_v chaste_a virgin_n with_o who_o they_o shall_v sport_v and_o take_v their_o pleasure_n as_o aforesaid_a they_o ought_v in_o like_a manner_n to_o have_v mention_v the_o woman_n and_o to_o have_v give_v they_o eternal_a servant_n to_o have_v take_v their_o pleasure_n with_o they_o and_o then_o the_o woman_n will_v also_o have_v have_v eternal_a glory_n but_o tell_v i_o o_o moor_n what_o will_v the_o woman_n who_o shall_v be_v at_o this_o feast_n say_v and_o do_v when_o they_o shall_v see_v themselves_o comfortless_a and_o when_o they_o shall_v see_v their_o husband_n which_o they_o have_v in_o this_o world_n sport_v with_o and_o embrace_v their_o virgin_n the_o space_n of_o 50_o year_n which_o he_o say_v they_o shall_v remain_v embrace_v sport_v and_o take_v their_o pleasure_n therefore_o o_o moor_n i_o say_v that_o the_o woman_n glory_n will_v be_v turn_v into_o punishment_n and_o sorrow_n especial_o when_o each_o of_o the_o man_n shall_v take_v his_o virgin_n and_o shall_v go_v away_o with_o she_o to_o his_o mansion_n or_o fortress_n and_o the_o woman_n shall_v be_v leave_v alone_o and_o comfortless_o like_o widow_n so_o that_o o_o moor_n consider_v all_o this_o above_o thou_o may_v conclude_v that_o this_o be_v not_o a_o thing_n of_o god_n nor_o of_o a_o prophet_n and_o messenger_n send_v from_o god_n and_o thou_o will_v know_v that_o it_o be_v all_o as_o solomon_n say_v vanity_n of_o vanity_n and_o all_o vanity_n and_o here_o i_o will_v conclude_v this_o nine_o chapter_n chap._n x._o the_o ten_o chapter_n show_v how_o the_o alcoran_n contradict_v itself_o in_o divers_a place_n and_o trcate_v of_o divers_a thing_n in_o the_o alcoran_n which_o be_v unseemly_a and_o superfluous_a likewise_o of_o some_o miracle_n which_o muhamed_a say_v he_o do_v although_o they_o rather_o resemble_v gull_n than_o miracle_n the_o alcoran_n in_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o the_o first_o book_n in_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o the_o second_o book_n and_o in_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o the_o four_o book_n say_v that_o god_n curse_v the_o devil_n and_o expel_v he_o from_o the_o glory_n of_o paradise_n and_o cast_v he_o into_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n for_o ever_o likewise_o in_o the_o aforequoted_a chapter_n it_o say_v that_o the_o devil_n tell_v god_n that_o he_o will_v always_o be_v man_n mortal_a enemy_n and_o will_v always_o tempt_v man_n and_o torment_v they_o furthermore_o the_o alcoran_n in_o divers_a place_n admonish_v man_n say_v that_o the_o devil_n be_v man_n apparent_a enemy_n all_o which_o be_v notorious_a and_o manifest_a in_o the_o alcoran_n and_o after_o all_o this_o the_o alcoran_n contradict_v itself_o when_o he_o say_v in_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o the_o first_o book_n that_o it_o be_v give_v in_o the_o month_n of_o ramadan_n and_o in_o the_o chapter_n of_o smoke_n and_o in_o the_o chapter_n of_o the_o holy_a night_n in_o the_o four_o book_n he_o say_v that_o the_o alcocan_n be_v give_v in_o one_o night_n both_o which_o the_o course_n of_o above_o twenty_o years-time_n contradict_v during_o which_o muhamed_a be_v make_v the_o alcoran_n viz._n ten_o year_n in_o mecca_n and_o 13_o year_n in_o medina_n which_o appear_v by_o the_o title_n of_o be_v twenty_o three_o year_n in_o compose_v and_o do_v not_o descend_v in_o one_o night_n nor_o in_o one_o month_n as_o the_o alcoran_n say_v furthermore_o by_o the_o alcoran_n itself_o it_o appear_v that_o it_o be_v not_o inspire_v in_o one_o night_n nor_o in_o one_o month_n by_o the_o chapter_n and_o verse_n which_o be_v make_v upon_o several_a occasion_n as_o upon_o action_n offence_n and_o upon_o controversy_n &_o difference_n between_o muhamed_a and_o his_o wife_n and_o by_o the_o diversity_n of_o commandment_n and_o by_o the_o alteration_n which_o we_o have_v show_v above_o which_o year_n that_o he_o dwell_v there_o how_o be_v it_o then_o o_o moor_n that_o thou_o say_v the_o alcoran_n descend_v in_o a_o night_n or_o in_o a_o month_n and_o if_o we_o shall_v say_v it_o be_v true_a that_o the_o alcoran_n descend_v in_o a_o night_n or_o in_o a_o month_n than_o i_o will_v have_v thou_o tell_v i_o o_o moor_n where_o be_v this_o night_n or_o this_o month_n whether_o it_o be_v at_o medina_n or_o at_o mecca_n if_o thou_o say_v that_o it_o be_v at_o mecca_n than_o i_o answer_v that_o those_o chapter_n which_o be_v make_v at_o medina_n be_v not_o to_o be_v repute_v or_o judge_v without_o charity_n and_o not_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o multitude_n of_o man_n no_o not_o of_o a_o few_o but_o only_o do_v and_o testify_v by_o himself_o alone_o for_o we_o do_v not_o read_v of_o any_o miracle_n of_o muhamed_a do_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o other_o man_n but_o only_o himself_o say_v it_o as_o be_v the_o miracle_n of_o the_o dream_n or_o vision_n and_o of_o alborack_n and_o of_o the_o angel_n when_o he_o come_v to_o he_o and_o several_a other_o which_o i_o will_v relate_v here_o among_o which_o miracle_n you_o shall_v not_o find_v one_o man_n to_o witness_v any_o one_o miracle_n of_o all_o those_o which_o he_o have_v write_v the_o first_o miracle_n be_v that_o which_o be_v mention_v above_o in_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o muhamed_n life_n when_o the_o angel_n gabriel_n launch_v his_o stomach_n and_o pull_v out_o his_o heart_n and_o take_v out_o the_o black_a coat_n as_o we_o have_v relate_v above_o concern_v which_o miracle_n we_o do_v not_o read_v in_o travel_v with_o the_o camel_n of_o his_o master_n gaddiza_n husband_n in_o the_o journey_n one_o day_n it_o chance_v to_o be_v very_o hot_a through_o the_o great_a sunshine_n and_o a_o cloud_n settle_v over_o muhameds_n head_n and_o follow_v he_o and_o over-shadowed_n he_o all_o the_o way_n muhamed_a say_v this_o happen_v when_o he_o be_v 16._o or_o 17._o year_n old_a but_o do_v not_o allege_v any_o witness_n that_o see_v the_o cloud_n follow_v he_o and_o overshadow_v he_o the_o three_o miracle_n be_v when_o the_o aforesaid_a angel_n come_v to_o he_o to_o the_o cave_n and_o salute_v he_o and_o begin_v to_o give_v he_o the_o law_n and_o the_o alcoran_n as_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o muhamed_n law_n the_o four_o miracle_n be_v that_o where_o muhamed_a say_v that_o the_o beast_n stone_n tree_n and_o bird_n greet_v he_o and_o speak_v to_o he_o the_o book_n azar_n say_v that_o when_o muhamed_a have_v receive_v the_o embassage_n from_o the_o angel_n gabriel_n in_o the_o say_a cave_n as_o he_o return_v home_o all_o the_o beast_n bird_n tree_n and_o stone_n greet_v he_o and_o say_v to_o he_o rejoice_v o_o muhamed_a for_o thou_o be_v the_o the_o tree_n and_o assoon_o as_o he_o be_v pass_v the_o tree_n grow_v together_o again_o as_o it_o be_v before_o all_o this_o muhamed_a say_v happen_v to_o he_o and_o yet_o there_o be_v no_o one_o see_v it_o neither_o be_v these_o miracle_n at_o all_o needful_a nor_o do_v of_o charity_n nor_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o other_o the_o five_o miracle_n be_v when_o the_o tree_n come_v to_o be_v a_o shadow_n unto_o muhamed_a and_o after_o they_o have_v shadow_v he_o they_o return_v to_o their_o own_o place_n again_o at_o his_o command_n in_o the_o suné_fw-fr it_o be_v say_v that_o muhamed_a report_v that_o be_v one_o day_n uncover_v in_o the_o field_n he_o have_v occasion_n to_o untruss_v during_o which_o the_o sun_n shine_v so_o hot_a on_o his_o head_n that_o he_o be_v all_o in_o a_o sweat_n whereupon_o he_o look_v towards_o certain_a tree_n which_o be_v far_o from_o he_o and_o call_v they_o and_o bid_v they_o come_v and_o shadow_v he_o and_o he_o say_v that_o at_o the_o same_o instant_n there_o come_v two_o tree_n tear_v the_o earth_n with_o their_o root_n till_o they_o come_v to_o the_o place_n where_o muhamed_a be_v and_o there_o they_o shadow_v he_o and_o afterward_o muhamed_a command_v the_o say_v tree_n to_o return_v to_o their_o place_n again_o the_o which_o they_o do_v and_o the_o earth_n close_v up_o again_o as_o it_o be_v at_o first_o the_o word_n in_o arabic_a say_v thus_o o_o guafidubaique_a etc._n etc._n i._n e._n that_o muhamed_a call_v the_o tree_n to_o come_v to_o he_o and_o by_o the_o divine_a will_v they_o come_v very_o obedient_o with_o their_o bough_n and_o afterward_o he_o command_v they_o to_o return_v to_o their_o place_n with_o their_o root_n the_o six_o miracle_n be_v when_o the_o moon_n divide_v itself_o into_o two_o piece_n the_o alcoran_n in_o the_o chapter_n of_o the_o moon_n in_o the_o four_o book_n say_v that_o the_o moon_n divivide_v itself_o in_o the_o midst_n and_o the_o gloss_n and_o the_o book_n of_o azar_n upon_o this_o text_n say_v that_o muhame_v report_v that_o one_o night_n a_o uncle_n of_o his_o call_v bugellin_n who_o be_v the_o most_o potent_a of_o his_o uncle_n come_v and_o say_v to_o he_o o_o who_o muhamed_a answer_v and_o say_v that_o he_o be_v content_a then_o his_o uncle_n tell_v he_o that_o if_o he_o can_v make_v the_o moon_n come_v to_o the_o midst_n of_o heaven_n and_o be_v in_o the_o full_a whereas_o she_o be_v then_o as_o the_o say_a book_n report_v twenty_o one_o day_n old_a and_o if_o the_o moon_n do_v divide_v itself_o in_o the_o midst_n and_o come_v out_o of_o heaven_n to_o the_o earth_n and_o those_o two_o piece_n go_v the_o one_o through_o the_o hole_n of_o one_o of_o muhameds_n sleeve_n and_o the_o other_o piece_n through_o the_o hole_n of_o the_o other_o sleeve_n and_o both_o piece_n come_v out_o of_o the_o choler_n of_o muhameds_n coat_n speak_v and_o say_v that_o muhamed_a be_v the_o prophet_n of_o god_n and_o join_v themselves_o together_o again_o
and_o return_v again_o to_o heaven_n where_o they_o be_v at_o first_o if_o he_o do_v all_o this_o he_o promise_v to_o be_v convert_v and_o to_o become_v a_o moor_n and_o musselman_n the_o book_n aforesaid_a say_v that_o muhamed_a pray_v unto_o god_n and_o beseech_v he_o for_o his_o divine_a power_n to_o do_v all_o that_o his_o uncle_n demand_v and_o they_o say_v that_o the_o moon_n present_o come_v into_o the_o midst_n of_o heaven_n full_a and_o divide_v itself_o in_o the_o midst_n and_o descend_v and_o do_v what_o be_v above_o recite_v and_o after_o all_o be_v do_v his_o uncle_n answer_v say_v that_o it_o be_v all_o do_v by_o the_o art_n of_o negromancie_n these_o word_n the_o say_a chapter_n there_o mention_n and_o in_o arabic_a they_o be_v thus_o ogua_n iniaran_a aeyten_v i._n e._n they_o to_o come_v and_o see_v a_o great_a miracle_n the_o moor_n answer_v that_o they_o desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o see_v miracle_n than_o he_o bring_v they_o all_o where_o the_o trunk_n lay_v and_o bid_v they_o touch_v the_o trunk_n with_o their_o hand_n and_o see_v how_o the_o trunk_n weep_v for_o muhameds_n departure_n these_o be_v his_o great_a miracle_n and_o the_o most_o authentic_a among_o the_o moor_n muhamed_a say_v that_o he_o do_v all_o the_o miracle_n abovementioned_a but_o he_o do_v not_o mention_v any_o witness_n that_o see_v any_o one_o of_o they_o do_v concern_v which_o miracle_n there_o may_v be_v great_a argument_n make_v which_o i_o omit_v for_o fear_v of_o be_v too_o tedious_a but_o shall_v leave_v they_o to_o the_o reader_n own_o judgement_n that_o i_o may_v conclude_v this_o chapter_n for_o if_o i_o shall_v set_v down_o all_o the_o miracle_n which_o we_o read_v of_o and_o be_v report_v in_o the_o suné_fw-fr to_o be_v do_v by_o muhamed_a and_o be_v salute_v by_o the_o angel_n gabriel_n who_o declare_v unto_o she_o that_o she_o be_v the_o best_a of_o the_o woman_n of_o all_o nation_n and_o that_o she_o shall_v conceive_v of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o shall_v bring_v forth_o jesus_n christ_n the_o word_n of_o god_n who_o shall_v be_v a_o great_a prophet_n and_o be_v endow_v with_o all_o grace_n likewise_o the_o angelic_a salutation_n be_v in_o the_o alcoran_n and_o the_o word_n which_o the_o virgin_n and_o the_o angel_n have_v together_o as_o they_o be_v in_o the_o gospel_n and_o that_o the_o virgin_n mary_n say_v how_o can_v it_o be_v and_o that_o the_o angel_n answer_v she_o the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v come_v into_o thou_o and_o the_o power_n of_o the_o most_o high_a shall_v over-shaddow_n thou_o and_o deny_v and_o by_o his_o preach_v this_o aforesaid_a to_o they_o which_o be_v the_o content_n of_o half_a the_o alcoran_n diverse_o begin_v to_o believe_v in_o muhameds_n law_n or_o sect_n many_o likewise_o be_v induce_v to_o believe_v muhamed_a by_o reason_n of_o the_o great_a boast_n and_o threaten_v which_o he_o use_v when_o he_o read_v the_o alcoran_n and_o the_o scroll_n of_o the_o punishment_n of_o their_o predecessor_n viz._n those_o who_o be_v drown_v in_o the_o world_n by_o the_o deluge_n and_o who_o escape_v in_o the_o ark_n of_o noah_n also_o the_o people_n of_o lot_n battle_n and_o enjoy_v again_o the_o great_a delight_n which_o they_o have_v in_o die_v and_o from_o th_a false_a promise_v it_o be_v that_o the_o moor_n to_o this_o day_n have_v fight_v so_o valiant_o and_o have_v get_v dominion_n over_o their_o enemy_n and_o beside_o he_o promise_v they_o that_o all_o the_o spoil_n shall_v be_v share_v equal_o among_o they_o and_o so_o also_o i_o say_v that_o if_o the_o king_n our_o sovereign_n will_v promise_v this_o one_o thing_n unto_o those_o who_o will_v go_v beyond_o the_o sea_n to_o fight_v against_o the_o moor_n i_o dare_v promise_n before_o god_n that_o in_o three_o year_n the_o christian_n will_v conquer_v all_o africa_n and_o asia_n and_o this_o be_v the_o three_o cause_n whereby_o the_o sect_n of_o the_o moor_n have_v increase_v the_o the_o world_n to_o follow_v their_o master_n jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n preach_v the_o christian_a faith_n to_o all_o the_o world_n clothe_v in_o sackcloth_n arm_v with_o nothing_o but_o the_o holy_a ghost_n without_o kill_v or_o fight_v do_v miracle_n cleanse_v the_o leprous_a heal_v the_o sick_a impotent_a and_o blind_a and_o raise_v the_o dead_a as_o the_o alcoran_n itself_o testify_v a_o great_a vice_n and_o be_v he_o not_o a_o man_n luxurious_a beyond_o measure_n wherefore_o o_o moor_n i_o entreat_v thou_o to_o consider_v all_o this_o above_o for_o it_o be_v all_o speak_v to_o give_v thou_o light_n and_o to_o the_o end_n that_o thou_o may_v come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o what_o thou_o do_v not_o understand_v for_o the_o truth_n be_v there_o be_v very_o few_o of_o the_o alfaquy_n of_o the_o moor_n who_o understand_v their_o own_o law_n and_o of_o the_o other_o moor_n not_o one_o and_o i_o do_v assure_v thou_o that_o what_o i_o have_v write_v in_o this_o book_n be_v not_o of_o malice_n but_o because_o i_o think_v it_o necessary_a to_o make_v and_o collect_v such_o a_o discourse_n see_v i_o have_v receive_v ability_n from_o god_n to_o do_v it_o and_o i_o render_v and_o so_o great_a darkness_n and_o therefore_o i_o say_v with_o the_o prophet_n david_n this_o verse_n which_o he_o sing_v even_o as_o a_o bird_n out_o of_o the_o fowler_n ginn_n escapes_n away_o right_o so_o it_o fare_v with_o we_o broke_n be_v the_o net_n and_o we_o have_v escape_v thus_o i_o render_v thou_o thanks_o almighty_a god_n who_o live_v and_o reign_v for_o ever_o and_o ever_o for_o all_o thy_o benefit_n and_o especial_o o_fw-fr heavenly_a father_n i_o give_v thou_o thanks_o for_o that_o not_o for_o my_o merit_n but_o of_o thy_o mere_a mercy_n thou_o have_v be_v please_v to_o
