be_v better_a than_o certain_a damnation_n thus_o by_o all_o these_o powerful_a inducement_n the_o sinner_n be_v bring_v at_o last_o to_o a_o resolution_n and_o that_o bring_v he_o to_o actual_a return_v as_o we_o shall_v show_v by_o and_o by_o chap._n iii_o of_o confession_n and_o contrition_n the_o content_n §_o i._o contrition_n consist_v of_o four_o part_n 1._o confession_n of_o gild_n 2._o aggravation_n of_o the_o fault_n 3._o self-condemnation_n 4._o deprecation_n all_o which_o be_v explain_v §_o ii_o the_o efficacy_n of_o contrition_n demonstrate_v 1._o as_o do_v right_a to_o god_n sovereignty_n 2._o to_o his_o wisdom_n justice_n and_o goodness_n 3._o to_o his_o omniscience_n 4._o to_o his_o holiness_n and_o purity_n 5._o it_o give_v the_o best_a security_n against_o relapse_n into_o sin_n §_o i._o in_o the_o forego_n chapter_n we_o leave_v the_o prodigal_n in_o a_o good_a mind_n and_o well_o resolve_v what_o course_n to_o take_v now_o therefore_o no_o doubt_n we_o shall_v find_v he_o put_v in_o practice_n those_o ingenuous_a purpose_n and_o take_v the_o whole_a series_n of_o this_o part_n of_o the_o parable_n together_o our_o saviour_n represent_v he_o as_o whole_o take_v up_o with_o these_o two_o thing_n first_o in_o a_o contrite_a and_o remorseful_a confession_n of_o his_o former_a offence_n second_o in_o the_o actual_a return_v to_o his_o father_n and_o to_o his_o duty_n for_o as_o on_o the_o one_o hand_n consider_v his_o former_a miscarriage_n he_o can_v not_o take_v the_o confidence_n to_o appear_v before_o his_o injure_a father_n without_o ingenuous_a shame_n and_o sorrow_n so_o on_o the_o other_o side_n he_o can_v neither_o content_v his_o own_o mind_n nor_o hope_v for_o pardon_v from_o his_o father_n without_o real_a amendment_n and_o actual_a reformation_n wherefore_o he_o join_v both_o together_o that_o by_o the_o former_a viz._n his_o contrition_n he_o may_v appease_v his_o father_n just_a wrath_n and_o indignation_n and_o that_o by_o the_o latter_a viz._n reformation_n he_o may_v be_v reinstated_n in_o his_o favour_n now_o the_o first_o of_o these_o be_v answerable_a to_o and_o that_o which_o be_v most_o genuine_o mean_v by_o the_o greek_a word_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d and_o the_o second_o that_o which_o they_o express_v by_o the_o other_o word_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d both_o
