it_o have_v be_v very_o hard_o so_o to_o give_v both_o their_o due_a that_o either_o the_o preacher_n or_o the_o hearer_n have_v not_o thereby_o be_v incline_v to_o make_v one_o prejudicial_a to_o the_o other_o not_o but_o that_o the_o gospel_n be_v to_o be_v prefer_v and_o that_o in_o divers_a respect_n but_o when_o it_o be_v so_o extol_v that_o the_o law_n be_v make_v useless_a and_o unprofitable_a this_o be_v to_o go_v beyond_o lawful_a limit_n and_o how_o difficult_a it_o have_v be_v to_o hit_v the_o mark_n here_o appear_v in_o that_o the_o jew_n papist_n arminian_n socinian_o and_o general_o all_o heretic_n have_v advance_v the_o law_n to_o the_o eclipse_v of_o the_o gospel_n and_o there_o have_v be_v few_o who_o have_v extol_v the_o gospel_n to_o the_o prejudice_n of_o the_o law_n to_o proceed_v therefore_o regular_o we_o will_v show_v when_o the_o law_n be_v preach_v prejudicial_o to_o the_o gospel_n and_o when_o the_o gospel_n to_o the_o law_n in_o the_o first_o place_n the_o law_n be_v then_o stretch_v too_o far_o when_o the_o work_n of_o it_o be_v press_v to_o justification_n whether_o these_o work_n be_v the_o fruit_n of_o grace_n or_o antecedaneous_a to_o grace_n it_o be_v not_o much_o difference_n to_o this_o point_n and_o this_o be_v that_o dangerous_a doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n which_o the_o apostle_n in_o his_o epistle_n do_v so_o vehement_o withstand_v and_o for_o which_o he_o be_v not_o afraid_a to_o charge_v the_o teacher_n thereof_o with_o apostasy_n from_o christ_n and_o such_o who_o make_v christ_n and_o all_o his_o suffering_n in_o vain_a and_o this_o be_v indeed_o to_o be_v a_o legal_a preacher_n insomuch_o that_o it_o be_v a_o high_a calumny_n to_o charge_n protestant_n preacher_n with_o the_o odious_a accusation_n of_o legal_a preacher_n for_o he_o be_v not_o a_o legal_a preacher_n in_o the_o scripture_n sense_n which_o press_v the_o duty_n and_o work_n of_o the_o law_n but_o that_o urge_v they_o for_o justification_n and_o that_o righteousness_n which_o we_o must_v rely_v upon_o before_o the_o tribunal_n of_o god_n and_o thou_o may_v just_o fear_v it_o be_v thy_o unsanctified_a &_o corrupt_a heart_n which_o make_v thou_o averss_n from_o the_o law_n in_o the_o former_a sense_n 2._o the_o law_n be_v use_v derogatory_n to_o the_o gospel_n when_o christ_n be_v not_o indeed_o exclude_v from_o justification_n but_o christ_n and_o work_n be_v conjoin_v together_o and_o this_o be_v more_o sugar_a poison_n then_o the_o former_a now_o this_o be_v the_o doctrine_n of_o those_o false_a apostle_n among_o the_o galatian_n they_o do_v not_o total_o exclude_v he_o but_o yet_o they_o do_v not_o make_v he_o all_o in_o all_o but_o god_n do_v not_o approve_v of_o such_o unequal_a yoke_a it_o be_v equal_a impiety_n to_o preach_v no_o christ_n or_o a_o half_a and_o imperfect_a christ_n and_o therefore_o as_o those_o be_v curse_a doctrine_n which_o take_v away_o any_o of_o his_o nature_n so_o also_o be_v those_o which_o diminish_v of_o his_o sufficiency_n there_o be_v but_o one_o mediator_n and_o as_o god_n will_v not_o give_v his_o glory_n to_o another_o so_o neither_o will_n christ_n that_o of_o his_o mediatorship_n to_o any_o other_o so_o that_o as_o god_n be_v jealous_a of_o his_o honour_n when_o man_n give_v it_o to_o fool_n no_o less_o be_v christ_n when_o man_n give_v it_o to_o the_o work_v they_o do_v and_o this_o make_v the_o way_n of_o justify_v faith_n so_o difficult_a because_o it_o be_v so_o inbred_a in_o man_n heart_n to_o have_v something_o of_o their_o own_o and_o so_o unwilling_a be_v they_o to_o be_v behold_v to_o christ_n for_o all_o 3._o then_o be_v the_o law_n preach_v prejudicial_o to_o the_o gospel_n when_o it_o be_v make_v of_o itself_o instrumental_a to_o work_v grace_n it_o can_v be_v deny_v as_o be_v hereafter_o to_o be_v show_v that_o the_o law_n be_v use_v by_o god_n to_o begin_v and_o increase_v grace_n but_o this_o come_v whole_o by_o christ_n it_o be_v not_o of_o the_o law_n itself_o that_o this_o spiritual_a virtue_n be_v communicate_v to_o man_n even_o as_o when_o the_o woman_n touch_v the_o hem_n of_o christ_n garment_n it_o be_v not_o efficacy_n from_o the_o hem_n but_o from_o christ_n that_o wrought_v so_o wonderful_o in_o she_o it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o say_v grace_n be_v give_v with_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o law_n and_o another_o thing_n by_o the_o law_n so_o that_o the_o gospel_n must_v be_v acknowledge_v the_o only_a fountain_n both_o of_o grace_n justify_v and_o sanctify_v for_o as_o in_o natural_a thing_n if_o no_o sun_n do_v arise_v every_o creature_n will_v lie_v dead_a as_o it_o be_v in_o its_o own_o inability_n to_o do_v any_o thing_n there_o will_v be_v no_o natural_a life_n or_o growth_n so_o if_o the_o son_n of_o righteousness_n do_v not_o arise_v with_o heal_v no_o law_n or_o ordinance_n can_v ever_o be_v beneficial_a to_o we_o in_o the_o second_o place_n the_o gospel_n may_v be_v extol_v to_o the_o ruin_n of_o the_o law_n and_o that_o first_o when_o it_o be_v say_v to_o bring_v a_o liberty_n not_o only_o from_o the_o damnatory_a power_n but_o also_o the_o obligatory_a power_n of_o it_o how_o well_o will_v it_o be_v
