of_o nay_o at_o once_o s._n paul_n will_v much_o more_o decline_v and_o abhor_v this_o if_o he_o be_v alive_a now_o when_o he_o so_o decline_v the_o imputation_n of_o inconstancy_n of_o yea_o yea_o and_o nay_o nay_o at_o divers_a time_n indeed_o s._n paul_n reserve_v this_o he_o promise_v to_o come_v to_o they_o if_o god_n do_v permit_v with_o a_o divine_a reservation_n we_o may_v say_v in_o of_o this_o life_n and_o when_o he_o speak_v of_o divine_a truth_n s._n paul_n promise_v to_o come_v to_o they_o he_o mean_v it_o honest_o and_o do_v intend_v it_o but_o it_o be_v subject_a to_o alteration_n because_o god_n stop_v our_o purpose_n in_o this_o life_n yea_o our_o good_a purpose_n many_o time_n good_a thing_n may_v have_v variety_n one_o good_a thing_n may_v be_v more_o ever_o he_o be_v and_o their_o comfort_n increase_v with_o their_o cross_n in_o the_o conunction_n between_o the_o sun_n and_o the_o moon_n as_o by_o expaerience_n we_o see_v in_o the_o space_n between_o the_o old_a and_o new_a moon_n there_o be_v a_o time_n of_o conjunction_n we_o think_v the_o moon_n to_o be_v lose_v in_o that_o time_n because_o we_o see_v she_o not_o but_o the_o simile_n moon_n be_v more_o enlighten_v then_o then_o ever_o she_o be_v in_o herself_o but_o here_o be_v the_o reason_n the_o light_a part_n of_o the_o moon_n be_v turn_v to_o the_o sun-ward_n to_o shall_v judge_v aright_o of_o other_o in_o this_o case_n another_o use_n shall_v be_v of_o thankfulness_n to_o god_n that_o beside_o the_o comfort_n of_o heaven_n which_o be_v not_o to_o be_v speak_v of_o and_o which_o we_o shall_v not_o know_v till_o we_o thankfulness_n come_v to_o feel_v they_o beside_o the_o great_a comfort_n we_o have_v to_o be_v free_a from_o hell_n that_o we_o have_v a_o measure_n of_o comfort_n here_o in_o this_o world_n in_o our_o pilgrimage_n and_o absence_n from_o heaven_n such_o a_o measure_n of_o comfort_n as_o may_v carry_v we_o with_o comfort_n along_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v thankful_a to_o god_n not_o only_o for_o redemption_n and_o glorification_n but_o that_o god_n comfort_v we_o in_o our_o pilgrimage_n that_o he_o mingle_v cross_n with_o comfort_n nay_o that_o in_o this_o world_n our_o comfort_n be_v more_o than_o our_o cross_n some_o may_v object_v i_o but_o my_o cross_n be_v more_o than_o my_o comfort_n be_v they_o so_o do_v thou_o suffer_v in_o a_o good_a cause_n or_o no_o if_o thou_o do_v thy_o object_n comfort_n be_v more_o than_o thy_o cross_n if_o there_o be_v not_o a_o fault_n in_o thou_o answ._n what_o shall_v i_o do_v therefore_o first_o take_v this_o direction_n in_o suffering_n pull_v out_o the_o sting_n of_o sin_n though_o we_o suffer_v in_o never_o so_o good_a a_o cause_n for_o in_o one_o suffering_n god_n aim_v at_o divers_a affliction_n thing_n god_n in_o thy_o suffer_a aim_n at_o thy_o correction_n as_o well_o as_o at_o the_o exercise_n of_o thy_o grace_n and_o at_o thy_o comfort_n therefore_o let_v affliction_n have_v the_o correct_v and_o amend_v part_n first_o and_o then_o the_o comfort_a part_n will_v ollow_v though_o the_o cause_n be_v good_a yet_o god_n child_n oft_o time_n want_v comfort_n till_o afterward_o why_o they_o have_v not_o renew_v their_o repentance_n and_o cleanse_v their_o soul_n they_o have_v not_o pull_v out_o the_o sting_n when_o they_o have_v repent_v of_o their_o as_o job_n say_v it_o be_v the_o speech_n of_o sense_n and_o not_o of_o faith_n it_o be_v the_o speech_n of_o the_o fit_a and_o not_o of_o the_o state_n there_o be_v a_o fit_a and_o a_o state_n it_o be_v no_o matter_n what_o they_o say_v in_o their_o fit_n than_o the_o flesh_n and_o sense_n speak_v and_o not_o grace_n and_o faith_n at_o that_o time_n if_o they_o judge_v by_o sense_n than_o they_o judge_v so_o but_o we_o know_v that_o reason_n correct_v the_o error_n of_o sense_n and_o faith_n correct_v the_o error_n of_o reason_n but_o what_o do_v they_o say_v in_o their_o constant_a state_n their_o comfort_n be_v answerable_a to_o their_o cross_n either_o in_o suffering_n or_o afterward_o though_o not_o always_o at_o the_o same_o time_n so_o much_o for_o that_o but_o this_o will_v be_v abuse_v by_o carnal_a person_n we_o speak_v of_o abundance_n of_o comfort_n but_o it_o be_v to_o those_o that_o have_v interest_n in_o it_o the_o book_n of_o god_n speak_v man_n no_o comfort_n to_o person_n that_o live_v in_o sin_n and_o will_v do_v so_o we_o speak_v comfort_n to_o those_o that_o be_v brokenhearted_a for_o their_o sin_n that_o be_v content_a to_o endure_v the_o reproach_n of_o will_v and_o they_o stand_v out_o to_o blood_n in_o the_o defence_n of_o all_o their_o cruel_a superstitious_a and_o bloody_a decree_n those_o person_n i_o say_v that_o be_v deep_o die_v in_o popery_n that_o have_v the_o mark_n of_o the_o beast_n they_o be_v in_o a_o clean_a opposite_a condition_n to_o those_o that_o be_v mark_v with_o the_o spirit_n that_o christ_n mark_n for_o he_o let_v we_o remembrance_n for_o those_o that_o be_v he_o mal._n 3._o for_o those_o that_o mourn_v for_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o time_n and_o when_o he_o gather_v his_o jewel_n those_o shall_v be_v he_o he_o will_v have_v further_o and_o further_a evidence_n of_o our_o state_n in_o grace_n that_o in_o the_o time_n of_o common_a calamity_n we_o may_v be_v free_a from_o danger_n free_a from_o error_n and_o destruction_n but_o you_o will_v say_v what_o shall_v i_o account_v of_o it_o if_o there_o be_v but_o a_o little_a sign_n of_o grace_n be_v not_o discourage_v when_o the_o stamp_n in_o wax_n be_v almost_o out_o it_o be_v currant_n in_o law_n put_v the_o case_n the_o stamp_n of_o the_o prince_n be_v a_o old_a coin_n as_o sometime_o we_o see_v it_o on_o a_o king_n harry_n groat_n yet_o it_o be_v currant_n money_n yea_o though_o it_o be_v a_o little_a crack_v so_o put_v tbe_n case_n the_o stamp_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v as_o it_o be_v almost_o wear_v out_o it_o be_v our_o shame_n and_o aught_o to_o be_v our_o grief_n that_o it_o be_v so_o yet_o there_o be_v some_o evidence_n some_o pulse_n some_o sigh_n and_o groan_n against_o corruption_n we_o mourn_v in_o our_o spirit_n we_o do_v not_o join_v with_o corruption_n we_o do_v not_o allow_v ourselves_o in_o sin_n there_o be_v the_o stamp_n of_o the_o spirit_n remain_v though_o it_o be_v overgrow_v with_o the_o dust_n of_o the_o world_n that_o we_o can_v see_v it_o sometime_o god_n child_n though_o they_o have_v the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o they_o yet_o they_o yield_v so_o much_o to_o their_o corruption_n that_o they_o can_v read_v nothing_o but_o their_o corruption_n when_o we_o bid_v they_o read_v their_o evidence_n they_o can_v see_v nothing_o but_o worldliness_n nothing_o but_o pride_n and_o envy_n etc._n etc._n though_o there_o be_v a_o stamp_n on_o they_o yet_o god_n hold_v the_o soul_n from_o see_v it_o so_o that_o they_o can_v see_v nothing_o but_o corruption_n this_o be_v for_o their_o negligence_n god_n give_v they_o up_o to_o mistake_v their_o estate_n because_o they_o will_v not_o stir_v up_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n
have_v the_o spirit_n and_o likewise_o the_o spirit_n make_v we_o mourn_v and_o wait_v for_o the_o adoption_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n those_o that_o mourn_v and_o wait_v have_v the_o evidence_n of_o the_o wait_v spirit_n for_o a_o worldling_n do_v not_o mourn_v for_o his_o imperfection_n for_o his_o corruption_n he_o do_v not_o mourn_v that_o he_o be_v absent_a from_o his_o saviour_n neither_o do_v he_o wait_v for_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o that_o that_o shall_v be_v bestow_v on_o saint_n because_o he_o have_v his_o portion_n here_o therefore_o those_o that_o can_v mourn_v for_o their_o corruption_n for_o those_o thing_n which_o the_o world_n be_v not_o able_a to_o tax_v they_o for_o because_o they_o can_v serve_v god_n with_o enlargement_n of_o the_o spirit_n as_o they_o will_v and_o they_o wait_v also_o without_o despair_n or_o without_o discouragement_n till_o god_n have_v finish_v their_o course_n they_o be_v lead_v with_o a_o better_a spirit_n than_o the_o world_n though_o i_o shall_v name_v no_o more_o what_o a_o many_o sweet_a evidence_n be_v here_o to_o manifest_v a_o soul_n true_o act_v and_o guide_v and_o lead_v by_o the_o spirit_n but_o these_o shall_v be_v sufficient_a for_o this_o time_n well_o then_o if_o the_o spirit_n do_v all_o if_o the_o spirit_n anoint_v and_o seal_v and_o give_v earnest_a of_o grace_n and_o comfort_n and_o all_o till_o he_o bring_v we_o to_o heaven_n be_v christ_n vicar_n for_o christ_n have_v no_o other_o vicar_n on_o earth_n but_o his_o spirit_n if_o the_o spirit_n do_v all_o as_o indeed_o he_o do_v all_o for_o god_n to_o we_o and_o from_o we_o to_o god_n whatsoever_o god_n do_v to_o we_o it_o be_v by_o the_o spirit_n he_o anoint_v and_o seal_n and_o sanctify_v by_o the_o spirit_n and_o whatsoever_o of_o god_n and_o use_v all_o kind_n of_o spiritual_a mean_n mean_n wherein_o the_o spirit_n be_v usual_o effectual_a for_o the_o spirit_n will_v only_o work_v with_o his_o own_o mean_n all_o those_o bastard_n invention_n and_o device_n fetch_v from_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n humane_a device_n in_o god_n service_n they_o be_v naught_o god_n spirit_n will_v not_o be_v effectual_a with_o popish_a device_n and_o therefore_o rome_n be_v the_o habitation_n of_o devil_n god_n spirit_n have_v nothing_o to_o do_v there_o because_o they_o have_v set_v up_o a_o worship_n contrary_a to_o god_n worship_n they_o have_v set_v up_o a_o covenant_n contrary_n to_o christ_n covenant_n they_o have_v set_v up_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o deny_v in_o a_o manner_n a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n christ_n be_v not_o teach_v as_o he_o shall_v be_v there_o now_o wheresoever_o the_o spirit_n be_v it_o be_v with_o the_o clear_a teach_n of_o the_o gospel_n receive_v you_o the_o spirit_n by_o hear_v of_o the_o law_n or_o of_o faith_n preach_v therefore_o let_v we_o attend_v upon_o the_o unfolding_n of_o christ_n jesus_n in_o the_o gospel_n for_o the_o spirit_n be_v give_v with_o a_o clear_a and_o true_a unfolding_n of_o christ_n and_o omit_v no_o spiritual_a mean_n wherein_o the_o spirit_n be_v effectual_a as_o meditation_n read_v etc._n etc._n for_o as_o a_o man_n work_v in_o a_o garden_n though_o he_o think_v not_o of_o it_o perhaps_o he_o draw_v a_o sweet_a send_v of_o the_o flower_n there_o be_v a_o tincture_n from_o the_o air_n that_o be_v round_o about_o he_o so_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v indict_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n we_o be_v in_o holy_a company_n be_v lead_v by_o the_o same_o spirit_n a_o man_n shall_v either_o by_o read_v of_o the_o word_n or_o in_o holy_a company_n or_o converse_v in_o good_a book_n he_o shall_v draw_v a_o spiritual_a sweetness_n from_o the_o word_n or_o from_o those_o that_o he_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n be_v like_a water_n that_o run_v from_o mineral_n as_o we_o see_v bath_n have_v their_o warmth_n from_o mineral_n that_o they_o run_v through_o they_o have_v a_o tincture_n from_o they_o to_o be_v hot_a in_o this_o or_o that_o degree_n in_o this_o or_o that_o quality_n so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o soul_n when_o it_o run_v through_o holy_a thing_n when_o it_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o good_a book_n and_o good_a company_n etc._n etc._n it_o draw_v a_o spiritual_a tincture_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o will_v have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n to_o guide_v we_o let_v we_o be_v much_o in_o those_o thing_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v sanctify_v we_o for_o that_o end_n at_o all_o time_n when_o we_o have_v liberty_n from_o our_o calling_n and_o withal_o take_v heed_n that_o we_o grieve_v not_o the_o holy_a ghost_n any_o way_n if_o spirit_n we_o will_v have_v the_o spirit_n to_o seal_v we_o to_o increase_v our_o earnest_n how_o do_v we_o grieve_v the_o holy_a ghost_n by_o cherish_v contrary_a affection_n and_o lust_n and_o desire_n and_o resist_v not_o lusts._n the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o now_o when_o you_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n if_o you_o shut_v your_o resolution_n if_o you_o shut_v your_o heart_n and_o resolve_v not_o to_o give_v way_n to_o any_o instruction_n that_o shall_v be_v deliver_v this_o be_v a_o resist_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n god_n now_o knock_v at_o the_o heart_n of_o those_o that_o be_v here_o by_o his_o word_n and_o spirit_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v open_v the_o everlasting_a door_n and_o let_v the_o king_n of_o glory_n come_v in_o we_o shall_v lay_v open_a all_o to_o the_o spirit_n oh_o when_o the_o spirit_n when_o christ_n be_v so_o willing_a to_o give_v the_o spirit_n it_o can_v be_v any_o but_o our_o fault_n if_o we_o be_v no_o more_o spiritual_a than_o we_o be_v for_o indeed_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o a_o manner_n require_v to_o be_v spiritual_a but_o not_o to_o resist_v the_o spirit_n the_o holy_a ghost_n press_v upon_o we_o in_o the_o word_n such_o reason_n of_o heavenly-mindednesse_a of_o despise_v of_o earthly_a thing_n of_o purge_v ourselves_o from_o the_o corruption_n in_o the_o world_n such_o reason_n to_o be_v good_a that_o indeed_o none_o be_v damn_v in_o the_o bosom_n of_o the_o church_n but_o such_o as_o set_v a_o bar_n against_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o their_o heart_n with_o a_o curse_a resolution_n that_o they_o will_v not_o be_v better_o that_o they_o will_v not_o part_v with_o their_o curse_a lust_n therefore_o they_o be_v damn_v because_o they_o will_v be_v damn_v that_o say_v the_o preacher_n by_o the_o word_n and_o spirit_n what_o they_o will_v they_o think_v it_o better_a to_o be_v as_o they_o be_v then_o to_o entertain_v such_o a_o guest_n as_o will_v mar_v and_o alter_v all_o that_o be_v there_o before_o take_v heed_n therefore_o of_o resist_v of_o the_o spirit_n and_o of_o grieve_v of_o the_o spirit_n by_o any_o thing_n in_o ourselves_o or_o by_o converse_v with_o company_n that_o will_v grieve_v he_o he_o that_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o he_o can_v endure_v carnal_a company_n for_o what_o shall_v he_o hear_v what_o shall_v he_o draw_v in_o at_o his_o sense_n but_o that_o which_o will_v be_v vexation_n of_o spirit_n to_o he_o therefore_o it_o be_v say_v of_o lot_n his_o righteous_a soul_n be_v vex_v with_o the_o unclean_a before_o the_o spirit_n suffer_v ourselves_o to_o be_v move_v and_o fashion_v and_o frame_v by_o it_o for_o god_n give_v his_o holy_a spirit_n to_o they_o that_o obey_v he_o and_o beg_v the_o spirit_n also_o as_o the_o principal_a thing_n god_n give_v the_o spirit_n say_v spirit_n christ_n to_o they_o that_o ask_v he_o and_o by_o christ_n manner_n of_o speak_v there_o he_o
book_n comfort_n against_o sin_n comfort_n against_o trouble_n outward_a and_o inward_a and_o all_o but_o till_o the_o comforter_n come_v till_o god_n send_v his_o holy_a spirit_n we_o shall_v not_o make_v use_n of_o they_o therefore_o let_v we_o labour_n to_o have_v more_o communion_n with_o god_n before_o we_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o after_o we_o have_v hear_v it_o let_v we_o have_v communion_n with_o god_n again_o that_o he_o will_v seal_v whatsoever_o be_v speak_v to_o our_o soul_n and_o make_v it_o effectual_a to_o we_o therefore_o we_o must_v learn_v to_o give_v the_o just_a due_a to_o the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n and_o not_o to_o idolise_v it_o to_o make_v it_o the_o mean_n of_o comfort_n not_o to_o make_v it_o the_o ordinance_n chief_a comforter_n but_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n by_o it_o what_o be_v paul_n or_o apollo_n what_o be_v we_o but_o minister_n of_o faith_n and_o by_o consequent_a minister_n and_o helper_n of_o comfort_n but_o not_o the_o author_n of_o comfort_n oh_o if_o i_o have_v such_o and_o such_o here_o i_o shall_v do_v well_o i_o shall_v be_v so_o and_o so_o alas_o all_o be_v to_o no_o purpose_n unless_o thou_o have_v the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o spirit_n of_o god_n that_o can_v help_v by_o weak_a mean_n therefore_o we_o must_v not_o tie_v comfort_n and_o joy_n to_o this_o or_o that_o mean_n but_o in_o all_o mean_n look_v to_o the_o ground_n of_o comfort_n and_o the_o spring_n of_o all_o the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o reason_n why_o man_n do_v nor_o profit_v more_o that_o they_o be_v not_o more_o cheer_v and_o lift_v up_o with_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n which_o be_v a_o word_n of_o reconciliation_n and_o of_o joy_n and_o comfort_n it_o be_v because_o they_o be_v more_o careful_a in_o the_o use_n of_o mean_n then_o in_o go_v to_o god_n for_o his_o spirit_n to_o bless_v the_o mean_n now_o these_o must_v go_v together_o a_o care_n of_o use_v the_o mean_n and_o a_o care_n to_o pray_v to_o he_o that_o he_o will_v give_v we_o wisdom_n and_o strength_n and_o bless_a success_n in_o the_o use_n of_o all_o mean_n then_o if_o we_o will_v join_v religious_o and_o conscionable_o these_o two_o together_o the_o use_n of_o all_o mean_n conscionable_o and_o in_o the_o use_n of_o all_o to_o lift_v up_o our_o heart_n to_o god_n to_o bless_v they_o we_o shall_v find_v a_o wondrous_a success_n upon_o the_o ministry_n and_o all_o other_o good_a mean_n likewise_o so_o much_o for_o that_o i_o go_v on_o to_o the_o last_o clause_n of_o the_o chapter_n for_o by_o faith_n you_o stand_v why_o do_v the_o apostle_n vary_v the_o word_n we_o have_v not_o dominion_n over_o your_o faith_n but_o be_v helper_n of_o your_o joy_n whereas_o the_o consequence_n it_o seem_v may_v run_v thus_o we_o do_v not_o domineer_v over_o your_o faith_n but_o be_v helper_n of_o your_o faith_n he_o put_v joy_n instead_o of_o faith_n and_o afterward_o he_o bring_v in_o faith_n again_o for_o by_o faith_n you_o stand_v this_o be_v one_o main_a reason_n because_o joy_n rise_v from_o faith_n therefore_o he_o phrase_n name_v it_o in_o stead_n of_o faith_n for_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v not_o curious_a of_o word_n but_o when_o the_o same_o spirit_n wrok_n both_o he_o name_v that_o which_o he_o think_v will_v fit_a suit_n the_o purpose_n faith_n breed_v joy_n joy_n how_o be_v that_o because_o faith_n first_o of_o all_o do_v show_v to_o we_o the_o freedom_n from_o that_o that_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o discomfort_n whatsoever_o it_o take_v away_o all_o that_o may_v discourage_v discourage_v for_o it_o take_v away_o the_o fear_n of_o damnation_n for_o our_o sin_n it_o show_v our_o reconciliation_n in_o jesus_n christ._n faith_n show_v liberty_n and_o deliverance_n and_o so_o discover_v deliverance_n by_o a_o mediator_n it_o work_v joy_n be_v not_o a_o prisoner_n joyful_a when_o he_o be_v set_v at_o liberty_n christ._n then_o likewise_o faith_n discover_v to_o we_o the_o face_n of_o god_n shine_v to_o we_o in_o jesus_n christ_n it_o show_v not_o only_a deliverance_n but_o favour_n it_o show_v we_o the_o ground_n of_o all_o the_o righteousness_n and_o obedience_n of_o our_o saviour_n whereby_o we_o be_v deliver_v and_o bring_v into_o favour_n now_o from_o this_o come_v peace_n from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o deliverance_n and_o acceptance_n with_o god_n found_v upon_o the_o obedience_n of_o god-man_n a_o saviour_n there_o come_v in_o peace_n and_o peace_n breed_v joy_n because_o faith_n discover_v all_o these_o the_o ground_n of_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o thereupon_o peace_n therefore_o it_o cause_v joy_n for_o this_o be_v the_o pedigree_n and_o descent_n of_o joy_n as_o the_o apostle_n have_v it_o rom._n 14._o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n be_v in_o righteousness_n and_o peace_n and_o joy_n there_o must_v joy_n be_v righteousness_n first_o of_o a_o mediatur_fw-la to_o satisfy_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o procure_v his_o favour_n from_o righteousness_n come_v peace_n peace_n with_o god_n peace_n of_o conscience_n from_o peace_n come_v joy_n there_o be_v no_o joy_n without_o peace_n no_o peace_n without_o righteousness_n and_o this_o whole_a pedigree_n of_o joy_n as_o it_o be_v be_v excellent_o set_v down_o rom._n 5._o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n we_o have_v peace_n with_o god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n and_o have_v access_n to_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n by_o which_o grace_n we_o stand_v and_o not_o only_o so_o but_o rejoice_v so_o there_o be_v justification_n by_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o thereupon_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o from_o peace_n boldness_n and_o access_n to_o god_n and_o thereupon_o joy_n so_o we_o see_v how_o faith_n bring_v in_o joy_n because_o it_o show_v the_o spring_n of_o joy_n whence_o it_o come_v it_o show_v peace_n and_o peace_n rise_v from_o reconciliation_n and_o reconciliation_n from_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n mediator_n whereupon_o we_o be_v deliver_v from_o all_o that_o we_o may_v fear_v and_o set_v in_o a_o state_n of_o true_a joy_n god_n be_v our_o friend_n when_o god_n be_v reconcile_v all_o be_v reconcile_v all_o be_v we_o have_v we_o not_o cause_n of_o joy_n then_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n say_v rom._n 15._o the_o god_n of_o peace_n fill_v you_o full_a of_o joy_n in_o believe_v show_v that_o faith_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o spiritual_a joy_n and_o the_o same_o you_o have_v in_o 1_o pet._n 1._o 8._o in_o who_o you_o rejoice_v after_o you_o believe_v with_o joy_n unspeakable_a and_o glorious_a in_o who_o after_o you_o believe_v that_o be_v in_o christ_n you_o rejoice_v with_o joy_n unspeakable_a and_o glorious_a and_o therefore_o you_o see_v the_o apostle_n may_v well_o substitute_v joy_n in_o stead_n of_o faith_n because_o it_o spring_v and_o rise_v from_o faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n the_o mediator_n hereupon_o we_o may_v come_v to_o make_v this_o use_n of_o trial_n how_o we_o may_v know_v good_a whether_o our_o joy_n be_v good_a or_o no._n among_o many_o other_o evidence_n this_o be_v one_o that_o spiritual_a joy_n be_v good_a if_o it_o spring_v from_o the_o word_n of_o faith_n if_o it_o word_n spring_v from_o the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n unfold_v in_o the_o word_n show_v we_o the_o ground_n of_o believe_v for_o he_o that_o true_o joy_n can_v show_v the_o ground_n of_o his_o joy_n herein_o joy_n differ_v from_o presumption_n from_o presumptuous_a swell_a conceit_n true_a joy_n that_o be_v not_o the_o joy_n of_o a_o hypocrite_n it_o do_v show_v from_o whence_o it_o come_v it_o rise_v from_o ground_n out_o of_o divine_a truth_n then_o again_o this_o joy_n do_v more_o immediate_o spring_v from_o faith_n in_o the_o faith_n word_n from_o assurance_n that_o god_n be_v we_o and_o that_o
